Açaí Bowl

This place is convenient located. We enjoyed the outside seating with views of the square. The staff are wonderful and very helpful. But most of all, the food is amazing! I highly recommend the açaí bowl

Truffle Asparagus

A solid restaurant find in the heart of the gothic quarter. You don't have to go down to the beach to get some good paella. This restaurant is located in Placa Reial, so grab a seat outside if you can. The waiters were able/willing to speak in English with us which we appreciated! The restaurant has bottled water you can pay for, but won't serve tap. We started with the truffle balsamic asparagus and this was a delicious yet light start before our paella. The paella normally comes in servings of two but the kitchen was willing to work with us since I have a seafood allergy. The vegetable paella hit the spot! It was seasoned amazingly. My friend ordered the black rice seafood paella and also enjoyed that. Order a pitcher of sangria to go with your meal and you'll be set for the night!

Papas fritas, tuna salad, pan y tomato, pulpo valenciana
Jenny K. L.

Lovely location especially to eat al fresco in the evening under heat lamps. The food was delicious, especially the pulpo Valencia, which was cooked perfectly; that is a must. The pan y tomatoes seem to be a staple at most restaurants and after trying it here I understand why; it has a burst of flavor. The papas are fried perfectly with hot sauce and the salad was fresh. A pitcher of sangria to wash it down. The arroz negro was a good size with seafood cooked perfectly. Just wish the rice want over cooked. Beautiful venue indoors as well!

We had the lobster paella. Watery and full of chicken. Not recommended. Best part of the meal was the appetizer potatoes and tomato bread.

Really really amazing food! They cook the lobster fresh right in front of you! Really great pesto sauce it has on it as well! I was impressed ! We came with a group of like 10 Of us and i called to make sure they were able to accommodate us and they were. Lovely restaurant with a cute fish tank as well! They have lobster & stuff up in front tank so you can see they cook it fresh! Amazing place can't wait to come back!

Here is their paella, don't order

Take a pass on this one. On the plus side, the space is beautiful. Perfect location, great design. But it is down hill from there. Service was tough. We had two servers, one was really frustrated we existed. Walked by us a dozen times while we waited over 10 mins to order drinks, and as soon as one person ordered a drink, he walked away. The other server was great, but not around as much. Most of all the food was disaapointing. The octopus tasted microwaved, with cheap smoked paprika on top. For sure the worst paella we've had in Spain, or any where else for that matter. It more resembled an under seasoned gumbo. This place looks great, but doesn't deliver.

Monkfish ravioli great!

After deciding not to eat at our original placa Reial choice, a waiter at a different restaurant suggested Marisc Co. We enjoyed everything from the olives to dessert!

"Tapas": Clam and Seafood Soup

Fantastic location and surprisingly reasonably-priced and tasty seafood!! This place is located inside Plaça Reial, where all the restaurants within the square are bustling with tourists sitting in the sun and the hosts are waving you in with their menus. This place looked like one of the better ones so we sat down in this corner with no sunlight as the place is busy and ordered. Service-wise, the place was no good. But food-wise, I was more than satisfied. Even though this place is a seafood restaurant, they claim to serve Tapas, because if you order off of the tapas menu, the portions are smaller, which is better suited for us tourists because we wanted to try everything. The tapas are really cheap actually. We ordered: - Jamon Bellota 5.90: your typical spanish cured ham - very good! - patatos bravas 3.50: roasted potato chunks with spicy dressing - great!! - chipiron 3.50: deep fried baby squid - a little too greasy for my liking. - gambas plancha 4.50: grilled prawns with shell on - fantastically dressed! - almejas 3.50: steamed/grilled clams - sooo fresh and awesome with lemon!! - crema marisco 3.90: seafood soup - small portion, no actual seafood. It was decent. - olivas 2.50: olives - as they should taste - coke 2.00 - cafe americano 1.60 Our total was 33.37 euros after tax. I need to go back to this place.

Nope. We walked in because we didn't know where else to go. I wish we had just gone home. Mean waitress- lots of attitude, slow service- practically threw our coffees at us :( Food was ok. Same taste can be found with better service on the other side of Las Ramblas. Gosh..

Garlic Shrimp

My friend and I had pretty high hopes for MariscCo, after all everywhere else we've eaten at was at worst mediocre. I am compelled to give MariscCo only 1 star, but I want to be fair. It could have been worse, much worse. The decor and the atmosphere of the restaurant itself was quite nice. The outside seating area was almost completely full. There was a nice array of big, fresh caught seafood at the counter. The service was also pretty good and the food came extremely quickly - probably about 5-8 minutes after ordering. Food (from bad to worse): Mussels - pretty good, but nothing memorable. Potatoes - just OK, needed more mayo and more time in the cooker. Garlic Shrimp - good, overcooked slightly, but nice sauce. Grilled King Prawns - not really king prawns, quite small, overcooked. Grilled Sea Bass - well cooked, but WAS NOT SCALED?! Maybe it's a thing that I'm not aware of, but it rendered 50% of the fish inedible. What was worse was that all the scales got all over the rest of my food. I spent most of my time at that restaurant spitting out scales. AWFUL. The fish was also not properly de-boned. Never again. The only thing that could have been this experience worse was if we had gotten food poisoning - thankfully, that did not happen, but I was seriously expecting it.

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. You already know that tells a lot and I feel bad for those who didn't have the same great experience, hope they give it another shot. See y'all soon! Salut, Vermouth!

We were happy to enter the cozy La Alcoba Azul and seated by a smiling host immediately & presented with menus. The interior looks almost like a wine cellar with brick vaulted ceilings. The offerings are best described as fusion tapas but there are a few traditional bites as well. Our waiter presented us with an amuse bouché of pumpkin hummus topped with roasted pepitas on an herbed toasted baguette crisp. DELICIOUS! We confidently ordered the tomato tartare with avocado cream, basil, olive powder and rosemary olive oil caviar as well as a half order of cured Iberican meats featuring chorizo, loin, sausage and ham, an order of the hummus with black olives, parsley, pine nuts and pita triangles. All were terrific! We especially enjoyed the meats and tomato tartare. I enjoyed a red sangria that was satisfying and happened to be topped with cinnamon...a first and welcome addition for me. La Alcoba Azul is a spot we'll keep on our tapas go to list! You shouldn't hesitate to visit.

Our server, Amaya, was funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. He took great care of us, and every single recommendation he made was delicious. I wish I knew all the Spanish names of the dishes because everything was amazing. The highlights for us were the Bacalao -- so tender and full of flavor -- and honestly the best octopus I've ever had in my life. We also loved the soft steak with duck liver served on a slice of French baguette, the shrimp skewers, patatas, and the Spanish ham with tomato toasts. Every dish was unforgettable. On top of the incredible food, the restaurant itself has such an elegant atmosphere with beautiful décor that made the whole dining experience even more special. I came here for lunch, and thankfully I didn't have to wait too long before I got seated inside. While all of the food was great, for me the codfish was hands-down the star of the show and probably one of the best dishes that I ate on the trip. The flavor of the sauce combined with the texture of the fish actually blew me away, and I can see why my server highly recommended this to me. If you just get one things when coming here, definitely make sure not to miss this dish. Highly recommend checking this place out for Spanish tapas, they represent the cuisine well!
