Barcelona had many great eats, but facing the beach was an amazing spot of deliciousness. Pez Vela, had amazing staff, great Sangrias, and the freshest seafood dishes. The paella was so flavorful and well seasoned. My mouth just waters thinking of these dishes I experienced. After the 1st visit on my trip I couldn't wait to return the 2nd time. The fresh fried Bass was so crispy on the outside and so tender on the inside. Make sure if you are in Spain you take a stroll on the beach and pause to enjoy this goodness. Enjoy!!

I made reservations here for our last meal in Barcelona after it popped up on many "best paella in Barcelona" lists. I was a little weary when I realized it's attached to the hotel. They have a great patio on the beach. We had the Sausage, Mushroom and Asparagus paella (22.50€ per person). It was pleasantly surprised that the serving size for 2 wasn't as intimidating as the picture appears. It's a fairly shallow layer of rice. It was quite delicious, my only complaint was that there wasn't more sausage. We also had the bread with tomatoes, sangria and chocolate cake. The chocolate cake (8€) was fudgy lava cake. The lava to cake ratio was perfect. The sangria (20€ per pitcher) was good but it definitely wasn't my favorite sangria I've had in Barcelona. It was a bit too sweet for me.

The restaurant is at a nice location, next to the beach. the staff were courteous. Though I'm very disappointed about the "angus T bone steak" -see picture here: the chewing fatty portion makes about half of the " steak". When I politely asked if that was the standard steak they serve, I was getting different answers. One waiter told me that she would not eat that herself. When the manager finally showed up after 20 min, she insisted that this is how T- bone steak is supposed to be in Spain. Seriously?

Excellent place on the Platja on the Barceloneta below the Marriott. No, it's not Marriott affiliated...no hotel restaurant here. It's a popular place. Reservations are a must. But this doesn't mean it's crowded (tables are nicely spaced) nor uncomfortably hurried. They do this so the staff and the kitchen can manage the clientele and provide the utmost service. Don't fall for the spin about slow service in Spain. Service here is excellent using QR codes for the menus and app tablets to place orders. For those still clinging to the 20th century...yes, paper menus can be provided. Most of the staff speaks at least passable English, some French...and definitely Catalan and Spanish. We had a great time here. Never hurried, and we were allowed to linger at our table for three hours (hint: reservations). The place is busy, All tables were filled and stayed filled during our visit. There is outside seating facing the Bay...reserve that if you can. The views are gorgeous, and it's cooler with the ocean breeze. We ordered some small plates and our rice dish was the artichoke with calamares & tinta de calamares. It came in a huge pan, but don't be dissuaded; it's not a lot. The rice is only about 1/4 in. deep. This was the highlight. No, not paella...it's the Anti-Paella!!! ..and so delicious. Small dishes included octopus & potatoes, clams, and so on.... each with their uniquely delicious, and absolutely Catalonian flavors. The Cava was flowing and staff were super attentive at looking after our table and all the tables around us. A raised hand quicky brought over one or two staff. Again make reservations...we saw many groups of people turned away disappointed. It's not 2019 when the Pandemic hit. When we visited, the place was hopping and the ladies were dressed for it. ...younger crowd overall and a place to be seen. Strongly recommend!!! 5 Star +

This restaurant is beautiful, has an outdoor patio and a comfortable sitting area with fireplace inside near the bar. The service was impeccable and the manager, Angel was very accommodating as we came in just before closing time. We went back again during our stay and enjoyed a similar experience. (And their olives are the best!)

Was recommended this place by the owner of 9 Nine restaurant. You need a reservation for sure but we'll worth it. The patio and view is amazing. The waitress was full of energy and so attentive. We had nice seats on the patio til some unexpected rain fell on us. Our waitress quickly went into action and seated us inside til a new table was set up. We ordered the fresh seafood paella and wow! So fresh and flavorful. My wife enjoyed some white wine and had the sangria. Great combo! Highly recommend this place for fresh paella!

We came after this came up as a recommendation from multiple friends. Best paella we had during our paella tour of 8 cities throughout Spain, (Though I must admit we did not stop by the origin of paella, Valencia, next time!). So good we had to stop by twice. The paella was cooked thin leaving a deliciously crispy layer of rice that was loaded with flavor. The paella was not as overloaded with shrimp and octopus but that is typical no matter where you go. The biggest difference with this place is that the rice is so full of flavor. No question, best paella. Ambiance was also really nice. Drinks were tasty though a bit on the spendy side. Really nice views of the beach. We didn't book a table either time we stopped by and we had no trouble getting a table within 15 minutes. GO!

There's nothing like this place in the states. The restaurant is super nice, waitress' recommendation were on point. We had the special which had several options but went for the squid ink rice. It was delicious! Best rice I've had in a while

The nougat ice cream dessert!!! Wow. So creamy and delicious. 5 stars for that! Wife and I did the tasting menu they offer for 35 euros/person. It included a nice piece of bread with tomato spread (a staple in Barcelona), a mixed salad, a paella, a glass of wine and a bottle of water. The salad had green olives, white asparagus, tomatoes and a nice vinaigrette. The salad was a little over salted but overall pretty good. The paella had a bold seafood flavor but could've definitely came with a more generous serving of seafood. We got the shrimp, octopus and clam one. All in all it was still quite tasty. The location of the place is great for a romantic evening as it situated right on the beach under the popular W Hotel. A great pre or post dinner drink spot!

The food was great but the service was horrible. At first I thought it was because this isn't a tourist friendly restaurant but after looking at the reviews after I ate there, it's actually true what everyone is saying about the customer service. The Paella was amazing!

Conveniently located below W Hotels, Pez Vela offers a fine selection of Spanish foods. ***Jamon Iberico de Bellota (19 euros)*** Silky and savoury jamon! The jamon was paired with sweet tomato jam bread. The jamon was so smooth and nutty, with fat so soft it melted right in my mouth. I really recommend ordering this! ***Patatas Picantes (6 euros)*** Not bad, I would order this again. Very normal potato wedges with a creamy and savory sauce. I'd save my stomach for the Calamari! ***Calamares a la Andaluza (14 euros)***I really recommend this! Very unique and interesting taste. The calamari was very soft and tender that it immediately melted in my mouth. **Sangria** I did not enjoy this. It tasted very fresh, but the red wine taste was too strong for my liking. Service: A bit slow, but hey, you're in Spain. Take your time and enjoy the beach front view on the terrance.

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. My son had been here last year and thought, it was a solid. We put our name in, went to a nearby park bench to wait and watch people for 50 minutes. The servers outside are grumpy as to many people are crowding the sidewalk and impeding his service. Finally, our name was called, were seated at the bar, and watched a chef make the magic dishes. The menu is huge and I can't help but watch the delicious dishes flying by us. So little time and yet so many great choices, this won't be easy. We began with the beef tenderloin montadito foie gras. It was presented as a open face sandwich on a bagette. We split it as it had a huge piece of foie gras. The tenderloin was tough and the tapas tasted like indivdual components, not a blended or refined profile. The grilled razor clams were nicely cooked, slightly gritty and needed to be washed more thoroughly. The Spanish omelet wedge was spiritual, dish of the night award. The onion made the dish! The sliced fried artichoke was finely shaved, and again lacked a enjoyable flavor that I would order again. The chips with fried eggs and Jabugo ham was different, tasty and a concept I would not of thought about. Delicious! Casveseria Catalanahe was packed and stacked for a reason. A high vibe and energy even in the face of a revolt at the check in desk from hungry dinners. I came say without hesitation, we will give them a second try. The staff was friendly, engaging, warm and a good sense of humor, nothing but smiles. I can't wait for our next trip to Cerveseria Catalana and let them tell me what to order. Good luck and see you sooner than later.
