We came at 6pm on a Wednesday night - great time to come because there was no line! When we left it was down the street! We got a bunch of tapas to start and the seafood paella! Was not particularly blown away by any dish but the paella was definitely the crowd favorite. The staff here truly make the experience incredible. They are so fun and vibing and just having a good time!
The food was amazing. The seafood paella is a must order! There was not one dish I didn't like. My only complaint is the service. The staff wasn't very friendly. This may be due to how busy they were as I felt they were very short or it could be because we were tourists and barely spoke Spanish. We were lucky to get a table before the crowd. My recommendation was to go early otherwise you'll be waiting outside in a long line.
We got there around 6pm (it's a holiday season) and waited in the line/queue for about 40 minutes. There is no reservation, first come first serve. I heard about this place from a recommendation online but was skeptical because of the mixed reviews. I thought the service inside was quite quick and they were great. The food came out relatively quickly and the food was overall good. The bill wasn't too hefty so that's a plus. When we left, the line was 3x longer than when we got there. We ordered: - pan con tomate: 3/5 standard bread with tomato and olive oil...I hoped the bread would be tastier but it was very standard - bombas de carne: 5/5 my favorite! Too bad it only came in two. So flavorful. - mejillones a la marinera: 4/5 I liked the sauce but ours were a little cold. - paella: 4/5 seafood was good but the rice was uneven texture - sparking water: 5/5 lol very sparkly
We started to get on the long line around 8:30pm on Sunday and wait almost an hour to finally get the table. We ordered 5 Tapas and Seafoods Paella for two. Tapas came out almost instantly and they were good. Some of them(Pulpo and Gambas) were not as good as expected but they were still good enough. We were expecting Paella to come out after we finished our Tapas. The next table, who came in 5 minutes late than us, got the same Seafoods Paella in 10 minutes after they ordered it. But, our Paella did not come out until the next table finished the whole Paella and became ready to order more dishes. It was more than an hour (probably about 75 minutes or so) since we ordered our Paella. Maybe, the Paella which was made for our table was served for our next table because I know Paella usually takes at least 20 minutes to be served due to its cooking method. And I continued seeing other tables around us getting Paellas, but ONLY our Paella did not come out. My patience reached its limit when our waiting time was almost 75 minutes. I just paid for everything except Paella and rushed out of the restaurant. Felt very discriminated and not properly served as other customers
Came to eat alone and waited in line maybe 30 min, I was looking at the menu for about 5 min or so when one waiter came and rushed me to order but I wasn't ready so I got a tapa of garlic shrimp. Wasn't that flavorful but came in less than 10min then was told a paella was only for a min of two ppl or it was double-- and made it seem like I couldn't order it at all. Finally after reviewing the menu plates they were all the price of the paella (doubled). When I was ready to order they took their time getting back to me and a different waiter said it was ok to get the paella, just more expensive. I got my paella in 10 min but nothing was that good about it other than the portions and amount of seafood maybe? And felt like I was being rushed to leave cause ppl are outside in line so the waiter who was nice at first suddenly interrupted my convo with the ppl next to me asking me how the food was. I don't recommend and for the same price you can get something better
We had heard that they have one of the best seafood paella's served in Barcelona...so we stood outside in line for 45 minutes to get in. The paella wasn't worth the wait...it was way overcooked, the shrimp and mussels were dried out. The flavor was good but the rice was more like rissoto than paella. The tapas such as Patatas Bravas were good and service was good, so were the desserts. But the reason we went was paella...disappointing.
Ugh...I wish I could leave a better review as the food was good but the service absolutely crossed it all. Before we even finished our meal they gave us a check even though we wanted to get a dessert and drinks. We paid for it still finishing what we've already order and then asked for another bottle of champagne and they said "No! There are so many people waiting outside for the table so we should leave"! It was absolutely rude and disrespectful! Find another spot to dine if you don't want to ruin your vacation
Our Airbnb host recommended this place to us so we gave it a try. We had to wait in line for a little bit because it was busy. The place had a nice vibe. The staff was quick and courteous. We ordered some cod balls , potatoes bravas, grilled cuttlefish and a mixed paella . All of the food was delicious and piping hot. I had never had cuttlefish prepared like this before and it was absolutely delicious. The paella was great too.
I had lunch at Colom. The interior was clean and neat. Staffs were professional. The food were delicious. The octopus was extremely tender. I thought the paella was going to be salty based on others' review, but I guess the kitchen saw that I was Asian and put less salt for me. The Calar beer was very refreshing and unique. Overall highly recommended!

First Tapas Experience in Barcelona -- Had to Do It! While in Barcelona, Spain, we finally tried our very first tapas spot -- because when in Spain, you have to, right? There are honestly tons and tons of tapas places around, but this one had really high ratings, so we figured it was the perfect place to start our tapas journey. Yes, there was definitely a line, but don't let that scare you -- it moved pretty quickly. We waited about 20 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad at all. We ordered a mix of the classics: seafood paella, their famous Padrón peppers, mushrooms, and calamari, and everything was pretty tasty. Simple, flavorful, and exactly what we hoped for as our first tapas experience. Service was great, the vibe was lively, and overall it was a fun way to kick off our food adventures here in Barcelona. By far one of the most affordable restaurants that is still near a tourist hotspot. Do come early or you will have to wait a long time in line. We came on a Thursday at 3pm and still had to wait a bit before getting a spot. Another time we walked by around 7pm and the line was down the street! The Colom Restaurant is well known for quality dishes with a good price. They offer a lot of seafood dishes and the chefs are well prepared for the amount of orders. The dishes come out pretty quick after ordering even though the kitchen itself is pretty small. As is with most Spanish restaurants, you do have to flag down the waiters if you need anything or to get a check. read more
Great experience at this restaurant! We went late on a Monday night and there was a line out the door! They were very efficient at moving the line through fast though, we probably waited 40 minutes. So get there early!! The staff were incredibly friendly and kind. We ordered the chicken paella for 2 (note that when you order paella it's automatically for 2 people, you cannot order paella for one). It had amazing flavor and the chicken was great too, overall an amazing dish! The lemon squeeze adds a great touch. The restaurant itself has a great ambience of light music playing and a romantic vibe inside, great place. Would recommend to everyone! read more

We'd seen the massive line a day early at Colom so decided to give them a try when it wasn't busy. They have a second location in the El Poblenou neighbourhood. Dropped in on a Monday afternoon (3:45pm) and had a short wait for a table. Seems they inflate the line on purpose as there were plenty of empty tables. Our waiter was going to charge us for a glass of house white (3,00€) that they never brought to our table. Their paella price is deceiving on the menu; 9,50€ to 9,90€ per person but is a two order minimum. Paella takes 20 minutes to cook. - Pulpo a la gallega (9,90€) - Galician style octopus with paprika, olive oil and potatoes. Octopus was fine but nothing exciting. - Paella de conejo (19,60€) - rabbit paella. The rabbit was dry and overcooked. The rice itself was fine. - Champiñones a la planche (4,90€) - grilled mushrooms. Bottom pieces were tastier than the top. Again, nothing special. - Shots - two complimentary shots (cream and herb liqueur) to end our meal. Gimmicky. Colom wouldn't be on my list to return. read more
The menu offered a variety of paellas and I split the the seafood one with rice with friends, plus ordered the one with noodles which surprised me in a good way! Minimum order of 2 people per paella. Wine bottle prices seemed really affordable (coming from the US) The wait was about 30 minutes and there was a line outside of the door. Staff was friendly and food was delicious. read more

We are visiting Barcelona and I search good place to eat, and this restaurants one of the best, so we decided to and wait outside, we order octopus and paella 1st of all the line was long but it was moving fast, the host call us and seated us very nice guy, and someone come to get our order very polite young guy, So we try the Octopus it was good but I have better one, and the Paella was really good on my husband taste and myself, we travel and this paella is one of the best I have, place ambience was good, staff was nice so our dinner was a good experience, love it I'll recommend this place. read more

We wanted to experience the best seafood paella in town after a long walk throughout the city. We heard Colom was frequented by locals, known for tapas and paella. We waited in line 45mins along with other non-locals and tourists hoping that the wait would be worth while. We placed our orders immediately after seated and hoped for the best. The atmosphere: casual with Columbus themed decor. Very nice warm woody tones. Service was great and friendly staff eager to help when asked. We waited 45 minutes for our paella to arrive but didn't think it was that spectacular. I've had paella elsewhere that tasted much better and didn't have to wait over 2 hours. The pulpo tapas was fantastic. I'd probably come here again if I didn't have to wait in line for 45mins. Overall: The food was good but not worth waiting in line 45 mins to get in and another 45 mins after placing the order. read more

First day at Barcelona. We wanted to eat their popular dishes then we found this place. Today we ordered the Mussels, seafood paella, anchovies, tuna salad, shrimp and crab sticks salad and two different kinds of prosciutto. Overall, the Mussels tasted bitter and salty. The seafood paella the rice perfectly cooked, but the prawns are not fresh , tasted the mushy texture. The anchovies with olive and olive oil are so salty. We hope they can put less salt in those dishes. Both of the salads are average. The grilled fish we found a dead fly under the fish. So gross!! But the boss canceled the order for us. Both of the prosciutto was tasty. The service was okay. This restaurant looks great. :) read more

A must try in Barcelona We went there twice during our trip to Barcelona. The location: Located on a side street in central Barcelona, very easy to find. The staff: The staff are super friendly and they speak really good English. The food: Food is amazing, the Parrillada de marisco is delicious, the seafood is fresh and grilled on point. The portion is big and enough to feed 2 people. We also ordered pan con tomate and cod ball, everything is tasty. The offers complimentary shots after your meal too. The price: It's incredibly cheap, but I would recommend to come with a big group so you get to try a bit of everything. Highly recommended this place if you want to try traditional Spanish cuisine. read more

We wandered down Las Ramblas to the waterfront. The last plaza contained this large column. On the top is a statue of Christopher Columbus pointing to Africa or maybe Genoa? It's eye-catching and a prominent sculpture at the waterfront. read more

We had to wait about 30 mins to be seated. Colom is a known tourist restaurant and we wanted to try it like everyone else. Everyone was really nice, Aliou was our server for half of the time and he was very cheerful. I would NOT recommend to get the seafood platter because the lobster in it is DEFINITELY not fresh. But if you want a cool picture and try different shrimps and shells go ahead. The paella is decent, remember to ask less salty if you find your paella too salty sometimes. Ambiance wise it's a old fashioned styled restaurant, very packed and you notice people in there are usually tourists. read more
The food is here tasty and the service is attentive, however I think there are restaurants that do paella just as good, if not better, especially given you will have to wait to get seated. We shared the pulpo a la gallega and a seafood paella. The pulpo was little too chewy for my taste and the paella was good but didn't blow me away. read more

Food was underwhelming. The reviews were great, and we even asked patrons leaving if it was good (they said yes) so it made it even more disappointing. The jamon imberica and manchego cheese was bland, the garlic shrimp had a gritty sand texture, the pork loin was boring, and rabbit tasted like a dry Thanksgiving turkey. The black squid ink paella was ok at best. On a positive note, the line moves fast, place is clean and staff is friendly. Price point was very reasonable but suggest skipping and save the appetite for something else - not worth the calories. Ended up going to Cerveseria Catalana - much higher food quality and atmosphere. read more
