We wanted to experience the best seafood paella in town after a long walk throughout the city. We heard Colom was frequented by locals, known for tapas and paella. We waited in line 45mins along with other non-locals and tourists hoping that the wait would be worth while. We placed our orders immediately after seated and hoped for the best. The atmosphere: casual with Columbus themed decor. Very nice warm woody tones. Service was great and friendly staff eager to help when asked. We waited 45 minutes for our paella to arrive but didn't think it was that spectacular. I've had paella elsewhere that tasted much better and didn't have to wait over 2 hours. The pulpo tapas was fantastic. I'd probably come here again if I didn't have to wait in line for 45mins. This place was highly recommend on TripAdvisor, so we paid a visit here. There was already a line forming when we arrived. The service here isn't the most friendly (probably because of the amount of people waiting to eat here), and it is cash only. We ordered the seafood paella (all their paella's require a minimum order of 2, prices are per person, and a 20 minute wait). The paella was tasty, and so were the two tapas we ordered. The grilled shrimp was definitely the better of the two tapas. If you're a small group like us, do be patient as the paella will take the full 20 minutes, so don't fill up on too many tapas (although it's very tempting)! read more

I went here with a group of friends and was incredibly satisfied with the experience. We got a variety of tapas, some paella, and of course, some sangria. I have to say, the quality of food was so high that I'd argue that this restaurant has been my favorite place to eat in Barcelona. Although all the food was incredible, my favorite part of the meal was the squid ink paella. The restaurant was very busy when we went, however, we got our food quickly. The staff was very friendly. Very very disappointing experience at Colom. This place was packed with a huge line my night in Barcelona, so I looked it up and saw that it had thousands of reviews and high ratings. The wait was around an hour for a party of four and the line was outside in the street. Despite this restaurant being praised for the high quality food and service those were the worst qualities. Our appetizers were okay at best and the waiters were all rude. We ordered the Rabbit Paella to share as well as 2 orders of the Steak Ribeye. The Rabbit Paella was horrendous. It had so many bones I didn't get more than a few bites and the little meat it did offer was dry and lacked flavor. Although this plate was terrible at least the rice was much better compared to the rabbit. The same could not be said for the ribeyes we ordered. The cut of steak was pathetic and low quality. It had far too much fat, the temperature was uneven, the flavor was disappointing, and the toughness was unacceptable. add into the experience the poor service and you've got yourself a 2 star overall experience. They made us feel unwelcome and offered no assistance beyond bare minimum. Definitely overhyped and not the real deal. read more

Plain and simple, just the best paella I tasted in Barcelona. Granted we ordered the chicken paella, but the seafood paella seemed to be very popular too. Arriving at the "right time" could be tricky - the wait could be 5 mins or it could be 45 mins it all depends on timing. Another thing, their "for two" size paella is smaller than most restaurants in Barcelona - though my girlfriend and I were perfectly satisfied with their portion. Service is friendly - attentive. Food was okay - our favorite was the Cantabrian anchovies because it was silky and perfectly salty. The reason I'm rating so high is because the servers were super nice and the location was pretty ideal near the La Rambla. There was a line when we got there, but it moved pretty fast. I was super excited to try this place when I saw the reviews on TripAdvisor. It wasn't bad I would say, but I was not the fan of the paella or the croquettes we got. The croquettes were quite salty and starchy and the paella was a little dry but still tasty nonetheless and I liked the seafood that came with it! The service was great and we appreciate that they told us that they are CASH ONLY before we got seated. However I must note that the sangria here is amazing. I'm not usually a fan of red wine but it went very well in the sangria here and it definitely helped out with the meal. Worth getting a pitcher for sure! read more

We literally left with our table still covered in half-eaten food. It really is that disgusting. Bland, too cold or scalding hot, and totally off in flavor. Pretty good Spanish food and prices. My friend and I were wandering around the gothic quarter and came across this restaurant. They had a deal running where it was 3 tapas to share with one large paella to share for €11-12 for each person. Tapas: They only allow you to get the tapas under €5 each. We got the - crab legs: would not recommend. They were basically fried crab balls (artificial crab) and not particularly good. - patatas bravas: Classic. This dish honestly never disappoints. - mussels: would recommend. They give you a lot of mussels and they come in a nice, flavorful broth. Seafood paella: individually cooked in a skillet and has shrimp, mussels, little pieces of squid. There is a good amount of seafood. The paella was solid, nothing too special about it but it was tasty and I enjoyed it. Would recommend if you are in the area and looking for a cheaper, solid meal. We had to find the best paella spot to try while we were in Barcelona for 3 days, and this one had good reviews and a lot of reviews on TripAdvisor. We were certainly not disappointed, considering we went back on a second night! The restaurant is cash only, but honestly, it's very reasonably priced in comparison to everywhere else we ate in the city. First time we went, we tried the garlic shrimp, seafood paella, and a green salad. The garlic shrimp smelled heavenly when it came out and was sizzling with delight. My only complaint would be the prawns were all varied sizes - wish we had consistently sized prawns! The paella was so so delicious. It takes almost 20 minutes to come out, but it's worth every minute. The rice is cooked perfectly, and there is an abundant amount of seafood to include: prawns, baby shrimp, mussels, clam, and cuttlefish. The first night we went, we were lucky and there was no line. The second night we went around the same time and waited about 20 minutes for a seat. Love that they're open every day and late night! Definitely worth a visit!! read more

Looked at the reviews and see a few recent one but here is the real story. Arrived Barcelona on the 11th at 9:00 and hotel (Holiday Inn Express) did not yet have a room available so off to the beach and a long walk. Searched Yelp for a TAPAS place and found a highly rated LALuna and stopped there for a late lunch ( 1:30pm) when they opened. Food was great so back on the walk and Hotel check in. Went out at 7:00pm for a dinner of tapas and found Colom..... WOW what a great place Tapas we're reasonably priced and large portions and staff very friendly but no a lot of English skills but there English was better than my Spanish. Food is GREAT, my favorite was the fried bay cuttlefish and of course the fried pimento peppers. The have a awesome bottle of Spanish CAV Nature for about 14 euro and is incredibly dray and tasty, had to have two! Have tried no less than 10 different Tapas places and keep going back to Colom almost every night for the pat 5 days. I almost never leave yelp reviews but the wife and I really liked this place read more

Ordered some crab legs, which turned out to be croquettes (that I don't think had crab in them), manchego cheese plate (which turned out to be soft and kind of slimy), Russian salad (mayonnaise doused mystery contents), and bread with tomato (which was soggy bread smothered in tomatoes and olives). So I stumbled into this place (Gothic Quarter) because I was lost looking for my Airbnb, I was overtired, overstressed, some creepy guys were following me and I couldn't find my Airbnb because of the men following me. I decided to duck out into this restaurant and noticed all the lovely dishes on the tables as I walked past diners. I was solo and it said the paella must be ordered for 2 so I decided to have a couple of Tapas instead. I ordered the menchanko cheese, the mussels and octopus- they were all Fabulous! Even though I was completely upset and frustrated about why I walked into the restaurant the staff (Ali & Ahmed) was very kind towards me and even went above and beyond to make sure that I made it to my Airbnb safely which was right around the next corner. I dried my tears, enjoyed some delicious food, met some kind people, had some laughs and left with a full belly! Next time it's the paella for two for just ME & some wine now that I know my way. The place we wanted to try was closed. We found this place not too far away. Looked inviting, and we were hungry. Decor was sort of like a pub. Very pleasant. Ordered the paella here.
