Chicken salad
Hanna K.

Pretty little spot inside Neiman Marcus! We love to stop in for a popover (will change your life) and lunch. Classy atmosphere and great staff. Huge fan of their chicken salad salad!

Lunch but upgraded. Mariposa is located on the 2nd floor in Neiman Marcus. Sometimes I just need an upscale lunch with champagne. The restaurant has an elegant ambiance, chic decor of silver and white and very attentive service. Always start with the signature popover served with strawberry butter and they keep these popovers coming. Then, I had the crab cake sandwich no bun. This spot has one of my favorite crab cakes in St. Louis. Ace got the salmon which he said was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. Dessert at Mariposa should not be missed. The lemon cake is a highlight. See the fork duel? I won! Mariposa also has a fantastic patio!

A warm popover with strawberry butter and a demitasse of chicken broth. How's that to get started? This restaurant is classic NM chic. Butterflies cascading from the ceiling. Attentive service. Luxe vibes. I chose an NM stalwart. Chicken salad with the orange soufflé. It pairs with sweetbread of the day. Which, luckily for me, was a blueberry muffin on this day. Oh how I love a perfect blueberry muffin. This menu item has been a part of NM dining from the start for good reason. Loved the whole experience. Only negative was the renovations going on in the store. The restaurant location is not well marked at the moment and quite hidden. But be sure to seek it out.

Brought mom here for a Ladies that Lunch Mother's Day gift! Such a gorgeous set up, white linens and all! Simple menu. We had the crab cake sandwich and French dip. And...let's not forgot the popovers! Served seemed a bit distracted and only at the end of the meal did there seem to be some attention paid to us but the hostess who sat us couldn't have been nicer! I ordered a Rose Aperol spritz, didn't taste rose in it. We greatly enjoyed our mother daughter time here!

Came here with my girlfriends for an early lunch before shopping! I ordered the chicken salad which was so tasty. It is such a beautifully decorated place that looks quite fancy but the prices are good and the food is so delicious. Service was friendly and prompt!

I was visiting St. Louis for the holidays and went here for lunch with family. I wanted to like this place so badly- it was okay. Highly recommend reservations as they are only open Mon-Sat 11am-3pm. I do think we visited on a super busy day, however they seemed very understaffed. We waited forever for the host to seat us and then forever for our waitress to even get our drinks. The service was really really slow like to the point that our waitress was complaining how slow the kitchen was. A few of our meals were done before others so they sat there. This is why I think in prior reviews people complain the food is cold. They don't time the full tables meals well. They start the table off with strawberry butter and a popover. Really unique. After that they bring out a chicken bone broth in a little mug. I got a chicken caesar salad, which was just really average. Table got the ginger chicken salad, citrus salad with salmon and the salmon tacos. My favorite out of that was the ginger chicken salad. It had the most flavor. I would come back to try it again, however with all the great restaurants in St. Louis if they stepped it up it could be way better. Overall experience 2/5.

Mariposa is an upscale lunch establishment nestled in the upper back of Neiman Marcus with both an entrance from outside (back of building) and inside from the second floor. The menu is limited with mostly salads, a few burgers and sandwiches. The prices match the store - $8 or so to add chicken to your salad. The salads didn't seem all that innovative to me, pretty standard fare. The chopped salad was ok but I was not a fan of cauliflower added to it and thought it lacked enough dressing. The chicken, however, was quite delicious. It took a while to get service, both at the hostess stand and at the table. I believe they were quite understaffed. But the restaurant feels vintage and upscale, and I like the vibe. It feels like old school department store shopping. I think they are about to undergo a renovation so watch this space! Solid choice for lunch in the area as there aren't many options.

The service at Mariposa was impeccable. The food was pretty good, too! It's a great place to stop during a day of shopping.

Popover with Consommé

After shopping at Nieman Marcus, we decided to have lunch at The Zodiac, their in-store restaurant. It is located on the second floor in the southwest rear corner of the store. After being seated, we received a demitasse of warm consommé, a bread pastry and whipped strawberry butter. The floor coverings were a bright gray carpet under the tables, but in the high-traffic areas, they were extremely soiled. This gave us a very poor impression of what might be served from the kitchen. When the brunch entree arrived, the potatoes on both plates were cold. When brought to the attention of David, he grudging arranged to have fresh potatoes cooked for us. The Crab Cakes Benedict were poached eggs & crab cakes perched over a circular piece of bread. We both enjoyed them. After dining, a few chocolate mint sticks we're tossed onto the table by David. Gary, an attendant, was friendly, cordial & very efficient. In our opinion, Gary is an asset to The Zodiac.

Mariposa easily accommodated our brunch group reservation today. It's tucked away in Neiman Marcus on the second floor. Buffy was our waitress and did a great job. The burger was yummy and the sunset drink was especially refreshing.

Delightful lunch with impeccable service. Atmosphere was charming. The chef seated me and informed me of the updated menu. Very friendly staff. Food was good. Shout out to the 1970's orange (soufflé') jello mold!! Loved the chicken broth/popover with strawberry butter which preceded my meal.

Good food, great popovers, but the service varies between adequate and horrid. Otherwise a good girly lunch.

It was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and honestly one of my favorite dishes from the trip. I also had a scallop dish that was just as good -- rich, well-seasoned, and beautifully prepared. On top of the food, they have a really strong wine selection, which made the experience even better. The overall vibe is polished and elevated without feeling too formal. The waiter was super helpful in helping us pick out a nice red blend. We got the octopus as a starter, which I don't personally love octopus, but my friend thought it was the best in stl. I also got the apple dish, which was listed under the salads but the waiter was sure to explain it's not an actual salad. Since it wasn't a full salad I also got the soup. Both the apple dish and soup were really good. It's street parking but there's lots of spots in the area. The bathroom is super nice with hairspray and mints if needed. Nice place for a good meal.

Today finally came, and I got to visit on a Wednesday lunch. Our hostess and staffs were wonderful and made us feel so special right from the start. Of course, the food was the real highlight. The pancakes were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and perfectly buttery. The gumbo was rich and flavorful, well-seasoned without being overwhelming. The grits were cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with the gumbo. Everything felt incredibly comforting on a cold day (see finished plates for reference) We came on a Wednesday morning, so it wasn't crowded at all. Such a relaxed, cozy experience.

You sit and order via QR code, with minimal table service (they bring you water/drinks ordered and food, not much else). The food is like 10/5 amazing and quality. I got the herbed goat cheese omelette and it was perfection. The side salad was perfectly dressed. I ate every last bite. No need to add additional seasonings. Husband got the ham & cheese omelette and felt the same. We split kids pancakes to get the toppings on the side. OMG people don't lie these are an indulgent and amazing treat. 4 stars overall because there are literally 0 modifications which is kind of annoying in my opinion. Like, they were out of hoagies and there was no way to say - I'd still get the sandwich just put it on different bread. Or I don't want mayo. Find that odd. I guess it's a choice but it does deter me from rushing back or trying more on the menu, and be aware if you go. Ps does seem there is an allergy option so if you do have an allergy I suppose you can check that but I'm not sure how to note what you need a change; didn't see it in the QR-only ordering.

The Fleur-de-Lys is the epitome of a luxurious getaway. Whether it is the quaintly appointed guest…read morerooms or the delightful library and parlor, each area of this former residence is unique and meticulously maintained. While it is not likely the norm, the owners, Mark & Leslie, met us at the front door, quite literally inviting us into their establishment. It was simply the most welcoming manner in which to be introduced to this treasure and Leslie quickly engaged us with the history of the home and how she and Mark had recently become the owners. We chose this destination based upon the significance of the Fleur-de-lis to my love, a native New Orleanian. Given St. Louis' rich French heritage, the mansion was originally outfitted with four chimneys that feature the fleur-de-lis design and the pattern is repeated throughout the home. While we enjoyed a quiet morning coffee in the back of the property, a lovely shaded patio area, she noticed how many places the symbol was present. She actually made mention to Mark & Leslie that they could make an activity out of counting/finding all of the fleur-de-lis around the home. What a fun idea! We were fortunate enough to book the Tower Grove Park room, a spacious room fitted with a king-size bed and a two-person jacuzzi tub. There is even a 'fainting couch' for that extra French touch! The bed was amazingly comfortable and the decor and accoutrements were exceptional, right down to the pocket doors and writing desk. But a B&B is set apart by the fare served in the morning, and this is where Mark, a chef by trade, and Leslie, a self-taught baker, knock it out of the park. That morning's menu included a fruit starter, fresh juice, Leslie's home-baked sourdough toast and home-baked English muffins, and Mark's egg and sausage soufflés with country potatoes. The entire breakfast had us completely over the moon! We felt so at home that we wanted to clear our own place - so we did! The rates are competitive and well worth every moment spent here. There is parking behind the property, as well as across from the property, and each guest is allowed a unique security code so as to gain entry while you are enjoying your stay. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this getaway, and Mark, Leslie, & assistant Sammy made us feel like family from the moment we crossed the threshold. We'll be back - and you should give Fleur-de-Lys a try!
