Mariners worked for me a week ago and I should tell about the fantastic job they did. They were professional and knowledgeable.I will work with them in future. read more

I had the painter come out to give me an estimate on painting the exterior of my home. He said in order to do so, I would need to have boards replaced because of termites. I had one quote from a company that was not going to do any termite treatment. One no show. Then Mariners Pest Control came out, Douglas the salesman for the company. He was very honest by saying just to remove and replace the wood would not solve the problem. I had extensive termite infestation. Their company would replace the wood boards that he noted and treat behind the wood with a solution to kill the termites if needed. Douglas gave me a very good deal. I even recommended Mariners to a vendor I did not go with once I made sure that they go to Lake Forest. I thought they were out of San Diego, turns out their office is in Lake Forest! Nefi and Luis were the gentlemen who came out to do all the work. They really worked hard and excellent as a team. They were courteous, hard working, respectful, and professional. It took them two days to do all the work. The quote also included spot treating the garage, but it required much more work. It also included treatment of the whole attic with a three year warranty. They will come back each year to inspect for termites. I'm very happy that I went with Mariners Pest Control to do my work prior to the painting company coming to paint the exterior of my home. Douglas, Luis, and Nefi were all very nice. I would recommend Mariners to anyone that boards replaced and termite treatment. Cathy Brizeno read more

Amazing professional service I have used other termite companies and I am very happy with Mariner's Company. Even though they are based in Irvine they service all of San Diego and when I call JoAnne she sets up an appointment and they come out and take care of my problem right away. I like the company so much I signed an extended warranty. For my house they don't use harsh chemicals and I do t have to leave my house. read more

Justin came out, gave me a fair quote, and someone came out to take care of the problem. It was done quickly, efficiently and the office gives great customer service. I highly recommend this company. read more

Controlled our Termite Issue--Kept Ants Away, A Huge Bonus Doug, the expert at Mariners, is knowledgeable, honest and readily available for consult. We just started our second two-year contract on termite control with this company. A lot of companies want to tent right away, but Doug felt his guys could get our infested spots under control with local treatment. Well, they did those four years ago and the termites have not come back. We just had Patrick here to inspect our 5 units, 2000 square feet each, and he was very thorough, easy to work with. Very pleased at the price and the outcome. We have also had a major ant infestation with warm weather, and our regular (not termite) pest control company couldn't get rid of them. Even when we don't have termites, we have paid Mariners to come and spray our perimeter as it has been the only treatment that has worked. Well worth the extra money and it lasts over two years. Joanne, the office manager, is a pleasure to work with, reliable, makes sure her customers are happy. Termites are a SoCal problem, so it's been great to find a company that is reasonable and can keep them under control. read more

Very appreciative of Mariners for helping me with a termite infested, antique (sentimental) framed art picture from Italy. They took care of it and have done a great job with my home over the years as well. Thank you! read more

I've been using Mariners for a couple of years, the office staff is always nice and helpful. I have already referred friends and neighbors to this place! My inspector Shawn always does a detailed inspection. Keep up the great work! read more

This company has the worse costumer service and is unorganized. They missed a very important detail when packing to fumigate and that was to pack all our food in double bags! We lost all our food and had to start from scratch. And when we called to try and explain that no one notified us about double bagging our belongings and lost everything we were told ' we can't do anything about it.' I still can't believe we were put through this nightmare and had to pay for their mistake!! Think twice before hiring this unprofessional company and could care less about their costumers. read more

Please look to other pest control people to help you. I know the owner who has told me the people that come out to evaluate your house get a portion so the bid is the highest they can make it. The owner is really unhappy and insults people instead of helping people. I am sure the business is in trouble so go elsewhere! read more

Unfortunately the experience we had with Mariners Pest Control was very poor. The quality of the work they did was not complete. When we had our painter/handy-man come after they had been here in September 2010, he was able to show us where things were only partially completed. After repeated calls over several months to the company they agreed to refund only $100 and extend our warranty, and these calls were with the president of the firm. He has yet to make good on his word. They advertise Excellent Customer Service and Best Guarantee. I would absolutely not recommend them to anyone. read more

If there were a sixth star, I would add one. Mariners was exceptional. Their price was about half of the other quote that I received, and the service was excellent. I worked with Tim, who was exceedingly courteous (and very kind when I was slow to respond to email), very response and accommodating, and kept me apprised about progress throughout the project. The finished work was impeccable, and their warranty gives us comfort that we're covered if our termites should return. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

We used Mariner's Pest Control to get rid of rats we had in our attic. They were professional, prompt, and friendly. I was feeling very uneasy about finding rats in our attic after a home inspection and they reassured me that this was a common problem and not as out of control as the original inspection report made it out to be. They were very thorough and walked me through all the areas of termite as well as pest damage and went through all the options I had in great detail. I am relieved not to have any more issues with unwanted critters and am very content that I chose Mariner's! read more

We have been informed, by Nathan Simon threatening us with law suit for "defamation of character" and "slander" because of our review here and that we should look forward to a subpoena. That we "threw out numbers that weren't true", he "has a copy of the contract", "what motive could we have" but "too much time on our hands", "vindictive", except to "hurt somebody" and so on. Also, his response to our review accuses us of "blatant lie's", "take advantage", "despicable attempt to besmirch the reputation of a small business" and so on. We don't understand and wonder why, why such responses from him. Though he's right about one thing, we do not have anything in writing that the repairs would cost $9,000.00, just that is what Douglas verbally, on the day of inspection, told us. So, we have corrected the review to reflect that. And yes, we are not "the owners of the house", the owner is disabled and asked for our help in finding someone affordable. We clearly explained that to Douglas when he arrived for inspection. read more

I am very dissapointed in service I recieved from this company. I had my house termited and they told me they come back at end of 2 years at no expense to you and check one last time if all termites are gone. They have never been back I called way before end of 2 years and was put off by office and Douglas. When I called again she told me I called to late and just wanted something for free! So rude. I would not recommend them or ever do business with them again. read more

I am just going to state the facts and you be the judge. We called them out to take a look at the house we have lived in for 12 years. They gave us an inspection and said we do not have any serious termite issues that can not be helped with spot treated, we just need to sign a contract for one year and pay $300 and under that contract, if we see any termite issues, they will come out to spot treat the area at no additional charge. This was in June. In August, we decide to put our house up for sale and the bank required a termite inspection. We called Mariners to ask for a sign off on the termite inspection. They refused to give us one based on our last inspection. They gave us a full inspection at no charge for the termite sign off for escrow. This inspection came back with a diagnosis of a termite swarm and that we required tenting. They gave us an estimate of ELEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS to treat the termites, termite damage, and some dry rot. We got 2 other estimates that were both at least $2500 less! Fact: I think they under serve and over charge. And they lack integrity based upon our experience. read more

I called Mariner's because of a large ad in the Tribune. Mother's Day Special.50% off. The rep was very thorough. Gave me a wopping 7% off. I was told they don't usually do jobs for under $2000. But would do mine for $1800 and then said he would take $100 off that price. The first appointment that I had was cancelled after the time they were supposed to arrive. Should have cancelled earlier as I had some things to do but cut them short so I would be home on time. Sorry boys, you didn't get the job. read more

I had a fine experience with Shawn inspecting - and James fixing - multiple termite attacks in my attic - and around the exterior of my house. Good attention to inspection details and photographic evidence, reasoned advice regarding courses of action - and care over the delivered solutions, including preventative spraying in the attic and garage. Thank you. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. It would have rec'd NO stars...but then it wouldn't post. When we first started with Mariners, Nathan was good. Then he rapidly grew the business and his flunkies would come out for the yearly inspection. They didn't even go into one of the attic spaces...more than happy to 'repair some wood for you' (where they make all of their $$$), but not do the basics. The 'wood repair' done fell out within the first year--that should have been our first clue. When we asked Nathan about this, he mumbled something and tried to fix it. The second time didn't work either. They sure bother you with numerous phone calls to 're-sign up' for the crappy yearly inspection. The more people that find out what a complete rip-off Nathan's company has become, the better. Shame on them! read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! After you have them perform their service they provide you with an certificate documenting an Annual Control Service where they will come out annually at no charge and do a subsequent inspection. Well, they will do anything they can to not uphold this contract. We just happen to pull out our contract and notice that the date had passed that they were supposed to contact us to schedule the annual service. We called them and we were told that they had called us at the incorrect home phone #, and they stated they called our cell phone (of course there is no record of their call - wake up Mariners - all phone calls can now be tracked) but since we didn't contact them, they consider this their "good faith effort" and now it is null and void because it was pass the date by 3 months)..... How is this good customer service? Our neighbors had the same thing happen - they got no call from Mariners, but they were fortunate that they caught it before the 30 day grace period was up. I wouldn't be surprised if this has happened to most of their customers. They sounded pretty versed in their responses!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! read more

In July 2012 I interviewed 4 different companies to eradicate both Sub-terrain and wood termites that I had in my 4 unit building here in Long Beach. Douglas, who showed up from Mariners Pest Control, was by far the best in providing a comprehensive evaluation of what was needed and I specifically hired Mariners for that reason. A few weeks later a 2 man crew come by and spent about 4 hours doing their job. Polite and worked well with the expected inconveniences. Unfortunately 2 months later my painter found some live wood termites. I called Mariners and 3 weeks later an exterminator came by and treated the needed areas again, again polite and professional. In February 2014, a tenant reported that we got a swarm of sub-terrain termites. I called Mariners and Erica informed me that I was still under warranty and scheduled me an appointment. Douglas came by 3 weeks later and treated the entire affected area, again polite and professional. Only negative was some confusion & delays in scheduling or I would have given a 5 star rating. As a property and small business owner, I know a good company when I see it. It's in their employees and staff!!! Honest & Reliable! I'd hire them again. read more

I just got a flier in a mailer for Mariners and I just wanted to put a warning on here for anyone considering using them for termite services. This company is a scam. The work performed on our home was horrible, incomplete and the owner, Nathan, was very shady. I actually feared for my safety after several confrontations with him trying to get them to complete the work they promised. Please use caution. read more

I received great service from both Shawn and James this year when they inspected and treated my home. Shawn was very thorough and developed a plan to treat without damaging my large overlying tile roof. When James came out he took his time to cover all the affected areas and took care of a special request I added. The process was completely explained to me by both so I had an understanding and felt comfortable that the overall treatment will do the job. Erika in the office was very helpful with the payment process and the paperwork I requested. I will have them back for annual inspections and look forward to working with them again. I have found my new termite Company. Thank you Mariners! read more

Totally frustrating experience with Mariner's.....original estimate was woefully deficient once work crew arrived 01/02/13. Work performed by crew was good enough (after I approved a new estimate) , BUT, a gutter elbow removed during wood replacement was bent beyond replacement. Not to worry says the work crew, we'll be back within a couple of days to replace. It is now nearly 5 weeks later, numerous phone calls to Mariner's with promises to return, the most recent for today at 4:00 pm. I'm here, Mariner's where are you? My biggest mistake was paying before the job was complete. But who thought a gutter elbow could stymie them? Makes me wonder about the whole job itself. read more

The sales staff was very friendly and nice to work with. They did one of the most thorough free inspections available, most places charge up to $75 just for the inspection. We liked that they even matched a lower quote we received. We liked the fact that they had a 2 year whole house warranty, but that is where the trouble started. Within 2 weeks of having the treatment done we found evidence that they didn't quite solve the problem. After countless calls they refuse to send someone over to honor their contract. Use them for the free inspection, but don't trust their contract. read more

Mariners just completed both full fumigation (tenting) and extensive follow-up wood repair for our 9-unit townhouse complex, and we couldn't be happier. Their total bid was about half that of a competitor, and they did an excellent job, even making repairs not included in the bid at no additional charge. Shawn, our contact, was very thorough in helping us prepare, and was there to follow-up at every stage. There were always other good english-speakers on the crew with whom we could coordinate, and they were all great, friendly, trustworthy guys. Not a fun process to go through, but these people made it SO much easier! read more

Had Mariner's Pest Control come out to do a termite inspection for escrow purposes (I am the buyer). The company provided a free, no obligation, inspection and Nathan took the time to explain the whole process with me over the phone. I was in a shortened inspection contingency, and Nathan was able to come on the specific day I requested (which was 2 days after our initial discussion). As soon as he started inspecting the eaves in the front of the home, he was able to point out termite damage and the "mickey mouse patches" that were done to address previous termite issues. I was impressed with his knowledge and expertise as he showed me damage (wood literally ripping off), termite droppings, and live termites. Although it was a free inspection, I felt that Nathan was very thorough and detailed and he was able to provide treatment options and estimate on the spot. Now just awaiting if the seller will take of this matter. *Fingers crossed* read more

Called Mariners about 2 weeks with a real bad termite problem in my attic and kitchen. My husband saw one of their ads in the register (very cute) I spoke to one of the girls in the office who was able to set us up with an appnt the next day. I had Shawn come out to our property and do a very detailed inspection. I had already had 3 other inspections and none of them stayed on the property as long as Shawn did. He was able to explain to my husband and I what he thought would take care of our problem. We went over the estimate and signed that day. Two days later I had a very courteous crew at my door at 9 am sharp to get started. The guys were at my home most of the day. They cleaned up after themselves and handed me all the paperwork that was due to me. They answered some questions and walked me around the house to show what was done. Great Company. We are very Happy customers. read more

I first hired Mariners in 2012 when we had some termite issues in the attic and on our exterior fascia boards and rafters. They did a great treatment and I got the guarantee. I asked them m to come back months later for some additional treatment which they took care of, and I immediately saved from the cost of the guarantee. I had them come back again this year for an inspection and to renew my guarantee and it was done efficiently and by friendly staff. No sign of those evil wood eating critters since. I really like the fact that they don't tent your house and you don't have to leave while they are treating. I would highly recommend these guys to help protect your house. It is a very good long term investment. read more

I don't have any complaints. They seemed to do exactly what they said they would do to treat my termite problems. The owner came out after I had gotten a few other inspections and quotes; one for fumigation and one for orange oil. I was concerned about workers on my roof breaking my tiles. Nathan gave me a quick but thorough course on the different treatments available so I could make an informed decision. We agreed on a combination of localized treatments that would kill the termites where there were signs of a termite gallery, and a secondary treatment that would continue to kill termites for an extended period. This included a three year warranty, and was $800 less the orange oil estimate. The warranty for orange oil was two years, the warranty for tenting and fumigation was one year. They were a little more expensive than fumigation. However my roof is tile, and last time the house was fumigated I found out many years later that the workers broke about fifty tiles. I had to pay a roofing company to replace my tiles. Also, with fumigation, I would have to double bag my food and stay in a hotel for two to three days. I figured that considering everything, I was still money ahead. Two technicians came out, were very professional and completed the treatment in half a day. No broken tiles, didn't have to leave my house, didn't have to do anything but write a check when they were done. I've already recommended Mariners to other friends and family. read more

This is the second time we used Douglas Hatfield with Mariners Pest control. The first time was when we tented our house. Mariners tented our house and a large shed in our back yard. The price was way way better than the three other bids we got and the others did not include tenting the shed. The second time we contacted Mariners, we requested Douglas. This was for the sale of another property. Douglas spent a great deal of time inspecting and documenting the property. I did a great deal of repairs to the home previously and thought we were pretty much clear of any more termite and dry rot repair. Douglas found quite a bit more damage and he took his time to show and explain things to me. Douglas comes from a construction background and was able to give a bid for repairs that was very fair. Mariners via Douglas Hatfield was recommended to us and we have done the same to others. read more

I would not recommend this business. The rep, Doug, was polite and did a thorough inspection, as far as I know; however, he wrote up an estimate for $6200 and then said he would knock off $400. After further discussion, he agreed to drop the price to $5200, which was $1000 less than his bid. I then told him I had the 50% off coupon and he danced around that by saying he knew that because all the coupon calls come in to a certain number and he had already taken that into account. The coupon said to show the coupon after receiving the written bid, which is what I did. Doug called several times after that to get the job and said he was willing to negotiate but I got the impression he was all talk. If he was willing to take $1000 off his bid at the drop of a hat, I could not trust that he was giving a fair estimate to begin with. This company is not registered with the BBB and has only been licensed to use spot treatment chemicals since 2010. read more

Terrible business. They totally ripped off my 76 year old mother. They charged $1600 to spray some orange oil and were supposed to come for a free respray just before the one year was up but they never returned her calls then showed up months later and claimed they sprayed and told her she had to sign another contract and pay $300. She wrote a check and explained she didn't have the funds to cover it for ten days, the owner told his employees to put the check through after they told him of her situation. The actual cost of the spraying is only $89. I demanded a refund to no avail. The owner is a real jerk, I'd never do business with them again or recommend them to anyone, especially elderly people. Talk about elder abuse! read more
