Good Morning! Oh My Goodness! Today is Dec 19th. I did a to-go order of their Chicken Fried Steak with a side of mashed potatoes with the breakfast gravy (I was craving comfort food). It was straight up frigging amaze-balls. I ate it all on one sitting due to how delicious it was. Right down to the English Muffins. McKenzie was the way super nice lady that helped me. She was totally on point with male my meal even better. I do enjoy Oak Table and Chestnut Cottage. Moving forward, I'm a Mariner Cafe fan for breakfast any day & all day. Not sure who the chef was today, I CAN tell you he or she knows their craft and do an amazing job. I was not very happy with the eggs and omlette i received i had told them i would like butter and cant use margerine, it was obvious they use, as the waitress told me they do.I have reactions and allergy to it. They do use it different things. I have heard black Bear diner does not serve margerine in there food anymore, as the side affectscan be a racing heart beat and other health elements that have been proven.What i did not apreciate was I felt i did not get the customer service I felt i deserved. FOOD DISHES WITH REAL BUTER IS much more QUALITY FOOD and is it good to eat that is the big queation? I've heard doctors are not to thrilled about the so called product margerine. Why are people still using it and does this cafe who serves other food which seems good and are taking short cuts or just running a business. I hope they can make better health choices, as it is not the best health choice, but people still eat the fake butter and i saw another bad review. They had served bad food on another review and it seems like they either need new people or start making healthier menu options other changes to better their business and make new menu choices to keep it doing better. read more

If you are a chowder fan I would suggest this place!!! I would say the best I have ever had. The burger wasn't bad either, maybe not the best I ever had, but it's in the top. Menu is broad enough for all to enjoy. I will be back soon! read more

Terrible compliance with wearing masks. Even though people weren't eating, no masks. Don't go, staff did not ask for masks to be placed.

I've thought about trying this place in the past. We've pulled up in the past and almost no one is ever there. Decided to give it a whirl this trip to Sequim. Wish I'd skipped it. The back staff was so loud... that's all you heard. What customers they had, were all older (60/70+) and again, should have been a warning. I ordered the club sandwich. The waitress put in my order wrong and so I had to remove the cheese and add tomato. The bread was barely toasted, the meat was generic, and the bacon was almost non-existent. My other half had the fish sandwich, he said it was not bad... but not crispy. Everything was just completely mediocre. Nothing special. Nothing impressive. And bland. It was a grey rainy day... and that's how I felt about my sandwich. read more

Another opportunity to eat at Mariners Cafe. Wednesday all you can eat oysters is a huge hit. The beer is cold and the service is always fun to talk with, and very efficient, and professional, but fun. The shrimp was also great, enjoyed by others. A must stop for great cafe food. But the seafood is a draw alone. read more

Great prices and huge portions, hubby and I went on all you can eat oyster night, OMG WORTH 12.49 and then some. The table top specials were a steal too, and the waitress was so sweet! It's just like grandma's house, you know, the grandma that smells bad and doesn't like you popping in for lunch? I hate having to write reviews like this but the good news is, this one writes itself. You walk in at noon, it's busy, two female waitresses and a younger male kitchen runner on the floor. Still, it takes a while, five min's or better, to get a drink order going. Just wanted coffee. Something even busy diners usually have down the minute they seat you. Instead, when the woman with the ticket does show up, you get to order food, and wait again for the drinks. She makes you feel rushed to order. She's got other old folks to deal with, I know. So, if you want pie, you better have the board memorized cause she doesn't, and she's not got her glasses on to read it to you. "Whatever's on the board, is what we got," she says, dying to get going again, helping another table. We're in no hurry I say, so you walk back up to the front where the board is, pick out a pie, and come back to find out they're out of the apple they said they had, but they have the crumble. So naturally, we go with the cheese cake instead, which too they show is on the board, but in the kitchen, it's not defrosted, so you settle for the crumble anyway. The fish and chips are "special," or so it says, but they're just okay, 3- battered, unseasoned pieces that you'd swear were once one nice piece, cut into tiny thirds, intended for a Libby Land toddler plate. But there's also cole slaw, which comes long before the fish, before the coffee, but after you've begun to feel regret for walking in in the first place. She hands me the dish in a literal lateral pass while walking by us. I've never had a handoff like this. I wasn't sure if it was mine or something I was supposed to continue to run with, like we were playing "catch the cod-damn meal as I toss it to you," game. Not once did we get a refill offer. Not once did anyone ask if we were okay, how's the food, etc. Instead, we got the bill at the end, long after the empty cup of coffee and the cold remnant of fries lay there on a plate that was long ago ready to be picked up, and finally, we are asked if there is "anything else we need." I thought to say, "yes, how 'bout some service, some smiles, some attention, but why beat a dead horse when it's probably just gonna turn up as lunch the next day? In all, we're new to this little retirement community, and if I end up making this town my final resting place, there's several other really good places we've found in town, which I'd rather curl up in a cold booth and die in, rather than be caught dead in this, less than charming, blah, bland cafe. read more

The food at this cafe is good and the building is clean. The service is often good but not always. Last time I ate here I couldn't get a cup of coffee or a refill. Today I got up to use the restroom and left my plate and coffee and bill on the table as well as my coat on the sest. When I came back everything was gone. My food, my coffee and even my unpaid bill. Two new ladies were seated at my table though there were other tables available. I had to wait at the counter a ridiculously long time to pay the bill. I have never had this happen to me anywhere else. After waiting for the cashier to finally finish whatever paperwork she was doing I finally got to pay for my breakfast. Full price even. What a bargain. At this point I don't think I will be back soon, though I was a very regular customer. read more

My father and I entered the restaurant at 630 on 3/13/15. No staff was present to seat us, we didn't mind. We found our own seat and waited for someone to help us or just come by to say hi, no one came. We waited approx 7 minutes with no help then quietly walked out. There were about three tables occupied at the time with customers constantly looking over their shoulder to find help as well. The staff must have been very busy and attentive to the private party area, but not to the customers in the main restaurant. This was my first time to Mariners. I'm not sure I'll give them another go. I'm sure the food is great and the staff friendly. We just never got to find out.... Their specials for that night were a fisherman's plate a well as a NJ cheese burger. read more

3pm-Sunday, not busy. Busboy waited on us, immediately. Brought us water, Sprite and coffee, right away. Very attentive and concerned-polite. Waited, way too long for the Waitress to address us. 'What do you want" first words out of her. Not personable, concerned or polite. No eye contact, no smile, no personality. Did not show up, to refill my empty coffee. The polite busboy was more accommodating. I ordered Combo/with fish and chips/oysters. I got scallops. Informed waitress-no big deal to her. "I'll have the cook fix you some" The fries were way over done. Good chowder. Good fish. Lousy waitress. Did thank us once. Simply went thru the motions. Horrible. Service was slow and there was a piece of cheese floating in my wife's soda. My steak ordered med rare was well done and my wife's "prime rib sandwich" was more akin to a Banquet meal for one Salisbury steak. We both got sick afterwards. Will never return. read more

Placed dinner order at 5pm. 530 and still only a salad-- no information on delay or if food was even coming. Meantime, 4 other tables were promptly served. At 535 we got up to leave and recieved a cheerful "thank you!" From the cashier. Oh no, thank YOU. Weekend breakfast seekers! The Mariner is the best restaurant to go for a great, reasonably priced plus tasty breakfast with first class service. My favorite is the Veggie Browns. The rhubarb pie gave it 3 stars. The service was bizarre but they tried very hard. The check was brought out several times. I don't think they want you to spend money there. We did not have a chance to order a second glass of wine or desert. They kept bringing the check. The fine print on the back of the menu should have been a hint. I am rather new to Sequim and my FIRST morning here, I found the Mariner cafe and had breakfast. Lots of locals were there that morning and it had that home-town feel. I was quickly offered coffee and order the daily special. Everything was great. Service was quick, food quite good and nothing I could say in the negative. Came back a month later with my wife for breakfast. Same experience and she absolutely loves the place now. Had lunch today, fried shrimp, cod, and the accoutrements - again, very nice. So very reasonable prices, nice service, and I can't complain about the food. Bottom line, we will recommend the Mariner to any of our friends who come to visit. read more

Pretty decent place...there's a bunch of other places I would go first in Sequim, but it's pretty good for big helpings of good comfort food. The staff was really great, and the decor was nice. Wouldn't take a date here, but I'd come again if I was in the mood for that kind of food. read more

Came here for breakfast on a Thursday morning. The place was pretty full but we managed to get a seat. Everyone there looked at us kind of weird, they could probably tell we were out of towners. The food was pretty good and mostly fair priced. They had a few different coffee creamer flavors which I was pretty happy about. The waitress was kind of stand offish and didn't check on us once we got our food. This was the second best food we had on our 4 day trip through Sequim, Forks, and ocean shores though. I would probably come back if I am ever in Sequim again. read more

best cherry pie....trust me. i was looking for some good cherry pie in sequim and found some reviews about how good the cherry pie was. boy they were spot on. nothing but cherries no jelly filler and nicely tart. i bought a whole pie to take home to texas. you won't be sorry. the fish and chips were not bad but that's why the 4 stars. only ate there once. read more

Not too impressed, was dragged here by the boyfriend because he is always searching for a good burger. I don't like to spend more then $30 for lunch on lame food. I had the special (fish and chips) because I was craving seafood but everything was pricey. Our food was way too hot on arrival, the breading on my cod was unfortunately plain and the fries could've used some seasoning. This is definitely an old person's hangout. Mostly caucasian and retired folk, old ladies playing bridge in the corner type of feel. Boyfriends cheeseburger was good *burgers are hard to mess up though. We each had milkshakes, pluses were that they give you the extra helping of milkshake in the tin container and a pitcher of water! I liked those qualities, also our waitress was helpful and cheerful. If they want to continue attracting 50 +, they shouldn't change the furniture/decor. When I walked in it was kind of confusing? I expected a Bob Evans/Elmers feel, but I felt like I walked into a setting-challenged restaurant...Probably won't be coming back. read more

Not too shabby! typical diner type place. portions were big and price was typical. I had the chicken fried steak. it was pretty good! filled the entire plate!! the only downside was the "country potatoes". I expected them to be crispy fried. nope. they had the texture and feel of having been boiled first, then tossed for a few mins in a skillet with, surprisingly, onions and peppers. they were good, but the whole boiled thing was really off putting. they were soft, as in cook all the way, but no crisp to them what so ever. the onions and peppers was their saving grace however. the steak itself was very big and tasted great! my girlfriend had the such and such combo with "deep fried bacon". supposedly the deep frying made it taste fantastic and added to the crispiness... all's it did was dry it out. and made it rock hard. perhaps overdone? either way, its a typical diner with typical diner food and typical diner prices... read more

We tried to eat there and the menu looked great, but gave up and left before even ordering. The server took a drink order from only one person at the table, and ignored the other one, then brought the one drink (still ignoring the second person at the table) and dropped it off, without making any conversation or asking if we were ready to order. He never showed back up - even stood less than 2 feet from our table while we sat there with menus closed, waiting to order. He made eye contact but still never came back to our table. Ate here on a Sunday afternoon, and while the decor looked fresh, with pretty colors, was not really impressed with the food, except for the homemade pie. Loved the flaky crust, and the piece was enormous, so had to take some home. Ordered the chicken fried steak from the dinner menu, and the actual meat itself was good, but the gravy was really lacking flavor...it seemed to have been made perhaps from a mix with water? The vegetables were cooked in water, boiled apparently, but not drained, so a lot of extra water was on the plate. Overall, not a really impressive place to eat, but pleasant, and the waitstaff was courteous. May go back, but probably not too soon.... read more

I ordered the 2-2-2 (2 eggs, 2 bacon or sausage, 2 French toast or pancakes). Under $8.00 It was so good! The best French toast I ever had. I've gotten used to the expectation of soggy French toast. This was hot and crisp without being over-cooked. This is the best breakfast in Sequim hands-down! The place is clean (& crowded). The owner came out from the kitchen to help carry and serve coffee. You aren't rushed and can just sit and enjoy your coffee. Don't bother with Hwy 101 Diner, IHOP or heaven-forbid Black Bear. Come here and have a great breakfast! read more

Good food. Me and my husband went there and we were the youngest one. So we really didn't feel welcomed by the staff. I don't think they like the younger crowd. So if you are not a senior I don't recommend going there. You will be forgotten ! read more
