I had the salmon. A tad under done but I couldn't finish it anyway and was able to enjoy for lunch the next day. My better half had the burger which he enjoyed and we both loved the fries. A cross between fries and chips-thin and crispy. We had the French silk pie for dessert which was okay. Tiny and a bit pricey @ $11 for what you got. My only real issue with the experience was the addition of a 4% credit card service charge listed as "remove cash discount". We must have missed that on the menu. We eat out a fair amount and have never experienced this before. read more

This place is always amazing. We drive an hour to come here on special occasions. The steak is phenomenal and everything tastes fresh. Food comes out quickly and the staff is friendly. The ambiance is posh meets grill. Wear whatever you feel like wearing and you'll fit in. No kids menu. I've never been disappointed when coming here. read more

Our spinach artichoke dip was good, but our pimento cheese dip was too soupy for my liking. My coworkers enjoyed their entrees, but my beef stroganoff was severely underwhelming. My steak tips were beyond well done (I wish they would've asked how I wanted them cooked), and the sauce was far too mushroom-based for my liking. With that said, I can't penalize Mare Sol too much for my mistake on ordering a dish I wasn't thrilled over. This was a great meal all around. We had the flatbread as our appetizer and everyone enjoyed it. Even my picky teenager :) Our entrees were the shrimp and grits, chicken Parmesan, a cheeseburger, and blackened chicken alfredo. The grits were creamy and delicious. The marinara for the pasta that came with the chicken parm had a little bit of a kick to it as did the alfredo but everyone enjoyed their meals. The wait staff was attentive and super friendly. Local place. Nice open atmosphere with loud echo. Sound is very amplified here so when full you'll be struggling to hear. This was lunch. Appetizer was spinach and artichoke dip with mozzarella and artichoke chunks, this came out looking good but yet was cold in the middle. This has the potential to be great except it was cool in the center and under baked. Service a little slow but the staff is nice and the place is clean as are restrooms. We ordered Beef stroganoff, Shrimp and grits, and Seafood Alfredo, along with kids Alfredo. There was a point where we said we are out of this takes any longer. We aren't in a rush but lunch fare should not take as long as it took. Even the server seemed concerned at the time this took. So the food has arrived as we were ready to leave the amount for the appetizer and leave. Food was decent. Lots of grits for 5 lonely shrimp. The BS was alright as was the Alfredo. What ruined the experience was the wait then the server said it's because we were packed. I said no when we ordered most everyone had their food (he agreed). Kitchen can really hurt the experience as it did here. Too bad cuz we were really excited and this was a real let down. In the end I see my kid (who LOVES Italian) and I say you don't have to eat that if you're good. He says can I have a hotdog? NUFF SAID. read more

The menu looked wonderful so we decided to stop in for lunch during our travels. The space was open, inviting, and well decorated. Sadly, that's where the positive attributes ended. Our server looked and acted as if he had just rolled out of bed. He was rude and dismissive when asked a question regarding a drink. We ordered the deviled eggs, rigatoni, and Birria tacos. Deviled eggs were passable, but had only about a 1/2 inch piece of chicken skin on each. Rigatoni was served in a nice cast iron skillet. It was topped with tasteless mozzarella and the skillet was 1/3 full of water. My dog enjoyed it though. The Birria tacos were served with a spicy sauce on the side not the traditional consommé. Find a decent taco truck and you will get a much better product. Overall if you're going for a nice environment this place will work. If you are looking for good food and/or service definitely look elsewhere. read more

5 Stars is really not enough to describe how far above other restaurants Mare Sol is . Honestly, I have lived in LaGrange 8 years and this place has just gotten better every year. The management during this pandemic has been amazing. Today we had the Wedge salad and the Steak and Fungi flatbread, and it was amazing. The beer list here is amazing and we had the Urban Tree Rose Ciider and the Orpheus Elusory Hazy IPA. All I can say now is that after eighth years of coming here, it is just getting better. read more

Very good food, but extremely slow service. We went on a Saturday there were only six tables occupied which included an 11 person Birthday party. Food came out very show, but Very Good! Air temperature was good for this time of year in. But if you're going to leave the drinking glasses on the table as they do I would think it's best to leave down then flip to pour your water. The menu has changed a few times over the years and some of our favorites are now gone, however I have faith that the new Chef will be adding his twist to the menu. Best fried okra I've ever eaten! This is my go to restaurant when traveling in the area. The cheese plate was yummy too. Never eaten anything prepared here that wasn't good. I really wanted to love this place but I left sad and disappointed. We were in town visiting the great wolf lodge and food options are limited in the resort so we ventured out to the downtown area which was small but cute in a historic kind of way. Mare Sol was ok but def. due to a couple of reasons for me. The chicken parm sub was tasty and the bread was fresh at first bite but on the second bite I realized the chicken was raw which caused me to send it back. The replacement sub took about 15-20 mns and I had to eat in in a rush as the rest of my party had been done for over 10 mns. I might try it again sometime but I didn't get what I wanted out of this place read more

Wow, what a surprise we had for lunch. We were seated immediately as we arrived around noon. We loved our booth and the view from the window was most enjoyable. The ambiance here was delightful and the decor was of bygone days in a good way. It reminded me of Tadish Grill in San Francisco. I would return for the atmosphere if for no other reason. However, the food was excellent- also like Tadish. My friend and I both ordered the same thing - the portobello mushroom panini. My friend got a delicious Caesar salad as her side and I got the wonderfully unique French fries. The whole menu looked outstanding and I can't wait to return here. Additional, our service was excellent and we were allow to enjoy our luncheon conversation without constant interruptions but all of our needs were seen to immediately. read more

I mean from the drinks to the food it was a 5 star meal. yesterday we went and were surprised to find out they have a new chef and a whole new menu. The new menu is not vegan or vegetarian friendly like the old one. We ordered 3 appetizers and they were all DISGUSTING and lacked flavor. I asked for calamari because I can't eat meat and was brought FRIED CHICKEN SLICES. Good thing I realized it was chicken before eating it. We ended up asking for a menu from the sister restaurant and that Was okay but still not even 3 star material. We got the check and went to Venucc across the street. Worst experience ever I will NEVER be back. Waste of money and time. read more

I am giving Mare Sol and 4-star review for LaGrange status. It's one of my favorite restaurants in LaGrange, but I've definitely had far better in Atlanta. The food is sophisticated, and affordable considering what you're getting. I've ALWAYS left with a full stomach, also. The fish and chips is HUGE! Veggie panini is tasty with pesto sauce. The service is not very attentive, they only stop by the table a couple times usually, so if you're in a hurry, make sure to ask for the check right away. But they have been very friendly every time I've been in. read more

Was wandering through the cute downtown area before our waterpark adventures at the Great Wolf and stumbled upon this beautiful spot for lunch. The space itself is great with tons of natural light and full bar on the back. Very elegant yet rustic enough to fit in downtown. Great service for lunch, food took a little bit of time to come out but we weren't in a rush and it was delicious when they did bring it out! We overdid it with pasta and meatballs, a flatbread, a salad, and a burger for us and our kids. The portions are big and generous, and the ingredients tasted fresh. I really loved the handmade pasta and meatballs. So good! I ordered a wedge salad and it came out with nuts mixed in with the bacon. No item descriptions on the menu and nothing detailing that it contained nuts so I had to send it back due to a nut allergy. The burger arrived and it was still raw inside, but it was slightly mode edible than the raw inside pork chop. Nothing like eating a couple bites of food and then cutting a piece off the other end to find it uncooked inside. They did earn the single star because they were kind enough to not charge me for the appetizer and they discounted the raw pork chop. Two other tables had to send their food back in the brief time we were in there, as it didn't take long for us to eat the little food we could safely. read more
