The menu was soso....it was limited and over priced. We had crab cakes which were really balls. They were mostly fillers were was the crab. The seafood dish with mussels were laughable there were three and three shrimp. The dish didn't match the price. The Reuben sandwich was the best of all the dishes. The service was slow. I've been here twice in the past couple of weeks: once for lunch with my roommate and once to listen to my friend's acoustic set and have drinks (the Moscato was to die for!). Now, I'm somewhat biased, because two of my friends work here. One of them was our server at lunch. My shrimp and grits was absolutely delicious! When I went to see the same friend perform the other night (live music on Thursdays!), it took a little while to get drinks because there wasn't someone always behind the bar. However, instead of being charged for each glass of wine, the server/bartender just charged me for half the bottle, which was less expensive. Love it! We took our college son here at his recommendation and it was wonderful. The service was perfect - attentive but not overbearing. Even happy enough to bring samples of wine for my wife. Great selection on beer & wine and the food was as good as we've had in the past several years - even for a small town - this place is a standout win. I can't wait to go back! read more

What an unexpected treat! In town to visit Callaway Gardens, we happened upon this charming, delicious spot. Disguised as country with waits in plaid shirts and jeans, don't be fooled. Fresh pasta, great seafood, great service. My one complaint would be an uninspiring dessert menu. But who had room for dessert anyway. read more

Second try... ordered food and the food never arrived! Everything normal busy but not crazy busy, sat at the bar being considerate to the business ( I was by myself) and making things easier for the staff, waitress took my order of drink, soup and salad, nothing too complicated, easy. 30 minutes later... nada, zero, nothing. I asked very politely for a status on my order... nothing. My waitress was ashamed but I had to go back to the office. this is a great local eatery. I've been a fan since i first saw their beer selection. Great beers on tap all the time. the food is a broad spectrum. Smaller tapas plates to hearty burgers and steaks. My faves are the reuben, inferno burger, and cowboy steak. They did a beer and food pairing this past March, and that was some of the best food I've eaten in years. The food alone was delicious, but with the paired beers, was out of this world! (we lived in NYC for 10 years and ate our way around that city, so I know some good food...) I've had and attended several parties there, its great for that. Good for kids, very accommodating staff. I wish I could make the happy hour more often! read more

First time to this restaurant was a huge disappointment. Saturday night we were in LaGrange and thought we would try it out since reviews were good. We ordered appetizers; Greek salad $8.00, not great, too much lettuce and not enough greek olives or cheese. Pita with 3 different spreads; tszaki, hummus and pimento cheese. The pimento cheese was the best, the tszaki was extremely bland and the hummus was also bland and definitely the worst out of the three (barely touched). The young boys had pasta carbonara whixh was again lacking seasoning. I ordered the gyro which the meat was cold and had to send back to warm up. Reheating the same meat didn't help and was very over cooked. We all left very unsatisfied with the quality of the food. Everything lacked seasoning...weird thing was that the tables didn't even have S&P shakers?? Perhaps it was an off night, but I would not recommend the gyro, Greek salad or the pasta carbonara. Great food. We had the beef stroganoff pasta and pimento cheese burger. The beef stroganoff was full of beef and mushrooms. I could have made a meal on the parmesean cheese steak fries. Owner was great he promised it was the best place to eat and he delivered on that promise. It was wonderful and if we lived closer we would be regulars. read more

I was in Pine Mountain for a business conference and was told La Grange was the closest place to get some decent grub. I am vegan and hadn't had an easy time finding options up until this point, but decided to give Mare Sol a shot since their menu is so extensive. The waitress was sure to check with the chef that my choice would meet my dietary need, and when she found it didn't she came back to me with an option for kimchi tofu tacos. Which. Were. AWESOME! It's always nice when restaurants are accommodating, instead of making it seem like your preferences are inconvenient to them. I literally have NEVER written a review but this was worthy of one; I wish you could give less stars. Why do people make reservations to go here?! My husband and I are from Atlanta - we actually live in the Garden Hills area between Buckhead and Midtown. We are here visiting with family and decided to try this place since it had some good reviews (apparently all locals, go figure). We came in on an early Saturday evening with no one but a table of couples there. There's no hostess station and the young hostess has on jeans and a T-shirt...okay? Not very professional but we're in Lagrange. Whatever. We're seated and order lobster dip for and app, I got "fresh" pesto penne with mussels, my husband got a medium rare steak with a grilled lobster tail, and I ordered the kids fish and chips for our two year old. The appetizer had essentially NO lobster and tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave. It had about 5 different types of cheese that didn't really seem to go well together. Gross. Our food came and it was awful. My kid's fish tasted like imitation fish and the fries apparently had been fried in the same oil as some sort of French toast because they tasted sweet. She barely touched it. My food was frozen aisle quality. Bland and tasteless. My husband ordered a medium rare steak and it came full on rare. It was all bad. I regret ever setting foot in this establishment. The service was terrible too. No one is in uniform, the waiters just walk up with street clothes on. The place is not worth the money. The ambience is average at best. The silverware was all broken. Food was average at best. We have dietary restrictions in terms of not eating meat. Asked for the suggestion and the server was not very helpful - I must say - rude. She did not even care if we are liking it or want to order something else. There was absolutely no communication. But when we (my friends) walked in we were greeted by someone who told us we needed a reservation. Really! I'm a regular at Mare-Sol. Our office is right across the street, so we go there often for lunch, and occasionally walk over after work for a cocktail or dinner. In all the times I've eaten there (easily over 50 times in the past few years) I can only remember a handful of times when the food or service wasn't excellent. read more

Horrible service. Having worked in the service industry, I normally give the benefit of the doubt when it comes to slow service, especially when it's busy. We walked in and sat down on a slow Wednesday evening. We sat ourselves at a dirty table, which was fine, we wanted to sit near the bar so we could watch the Braves game. After about 10 minutes of sitting there, a waitress came over to clean the table, sprayed the table down with cleaner, oblivious to the overspray she blessed my clothes with. I let it go. She informed us that our server would be right with us. She did not mention it would take another 15 minutes before that would happen. A guy finally shows up with a half hearted apology for the wait, obviously conscious to how long we've been sitting there. He takes our drink order, and then never returned. After another 15 minutes of watching this guy walk around aimlessly with not a care in the world, we decided to leave. On a lighter note, this place had a nice atmosphere and what looked to be a nice beer selection. If only there were someone there who cared enough to serve us. With a proper wait staff/management, this place seems to have potential. I never saw a manager. It will be a while before we go back there. read more

Table for one :-( This place was very good, I will say it feels a little higher end in here and I am a jeans and t-shirt kinda person...if I cared I would dress up a little more if I went back. This place was recommended to me by someone that lives here, and to get the pimento cheese. I did get it even though once I got there and reviewed the app I had a pretty good feeling it was going to come out warm/hot and I am usually only a fan of cold pimento cheese. I will say I was presently surprised...it was just above room temperature and the fried pita points that come with it (while not enough to eat all that's on the plate) really made it taste super yummy. I brought the left over back to the hotel with me...you will taste it for the rest of the day and it will stink up your fridge, but it is VERY tasty. Next I got beef stroganoff...mainly because I was intrigued that it was on a restaurant menu...not sure I have ever seen it in a restaurant before. My mother makes this best of course, but I will say that they did a great job with it here. They do enjoy presentation here, which I get; however, if it looks nice and doesn't taste good you are wasting your time. The sour cream is not mixed in, it's a dollop (of Daisy, j/k) on top with some green onion sprinkled on top. I don't care for green onion, flipped that off; and I don't like mushrooms but know that they are crucial to the taste of this dish...so I picked them out. The dish was over a bed of linguine which was perfectly al dente. I do prefer it over egg noodles though.It comes with a small crunchy piece of bread which was okay but I wasn't really worried about it. I also got a side of green beans to go with this as I felt I needed a veggie...I could've eaten a whole pound of these! They were wonderful, perfectly cooked and seasoned...no salt needed. I felt like splurging this night so I also got a piece of the german chocolate cake to go back to the hotel with. The presentation looked excellent, however, to my dismay the cake was pretty dry; I scraped out the chocolate frosting and coconut layers and ate them. Always happy with the quality of food and drinks. Service can be a little slow on busy nights, but that's because people pack the place some nights. Live music on certain nights is a nice bonus, and usually is soft enough to not drive you away or make you not enjoy your meal. The lobster dip is AWESOME.
