    Italian salad with chicken
    Jessica V.

And I'm back! Marcelo's Bistro is located inside the Florida Mall Hotel and Conference Center. While at a conference we had limited time and choices for lunch. I'm not a big fan of food courts, in general, so Marcelo's was a great option. The first day dining here I ordered the hummus wrap with sweet potato fries. It was a pressed sandwich stuffed with grilled veggies and savory hummus. The sweet potato fries were surprisingly waffle cut, lightly seasoned, and AMAZING. On the second day I ordered their special salad of the day with blackened salmon. The salmon was perfect, but the salad was over dressed, even after I ordered it with dressing on the side. Bummer, I know. We didn't go back to Marcelo's the third or fourth days because we had been running to get back to our conference on time. So if you're on a time crunch, I suggest dining elsewhere because even with an hour break, it was difficult for them to get our tables meals out.

From the buffet: French toast was good. Syrup was warm. Corn beef hash was very salty

Staying at the hotel for a conference and wanted to give this place a try. I chose the 17.95 buffet. Nothing special. Omlete and potatoes were bland. Variety is larger than some of the hotels I've been too with lots of fruit, salmon, and cheeses. Food was decent although the corn beef hash was really salty. Service was quick and friendly.

I am at a conference with an hour break. My husband was the first in for lunch and got a good seat. I order the Asian salad with chicken and an ice tea. It was amazing I couldn't even eat it all. My husband had the chicken salad sandwich on a croissant roll. It was good but I make my own at home with walnuts and grapes so nothing outstanding. They serve a chowder with tomato base and it was loaded with seafood. I've never seen anything like it. The top notch product we ordered today was the coke. Their tanks are stored in the cooler in the back so when it is served to the customer it burst in your mouth. I'm gonna try different restaurants in Orlando so I won't be eating here again. Not that the service and food wasn't good just don't like to eat twice st s place while traveling.

Crispy Calamari with tomatoes, olives and Cajun remoulade

Attended a conference at the hotel. I had eaten here before but my co-worker wanted to try it. I ordered Cioppino "Conch Style" and the Crispy Fried Calamari which came with olives, tomatoes and Cajun Remoulade. I normally like calamari, as long as it's fresh but this dish tasted like the calamari came frozen in a bag and fried. It was a pretty nice size appetizer, however and my co-worker liked it. The Cioppino was bland in flavor and honestly tasted like a canned tomato soup. The last time I ate there, the food was just ok. I won't be going back

I kept hoping I'd have a better experience, but unfortunately, my opinion hasn't changed. The biggest positive is the location. It's in a great area, the restaurant itself is beautiful, and there's plenty of seating both inside and outside. The service has also been consistently good. Every waitress I've had has been friendly, attentive, and professional. The food, though, just doesn't do it for me. I've ordered something different each visit, hoping to find a favorite, but I always leave feeling underwhelmed. The cocktails have tasted watered down, and most of the dishes have lacked the flavor I was expecting. On my most recent visit, I ordered the shrimp and scallop spaghettini. It was overwhelmingly pasta with very little seafood, and the dish itself was pretty bland. Of everything I've tried, the truffle fries and the Korean bibimbap were the standouts because they actually had some flavor. I can definitely understand why so many people enjoy Earls, and it's always busy, but it just isn't my style. If I'm in the Millenia area, there are several other restaurants I'd choose before coming back here. For me, the atmosphere and service are much stronger than the food.

SERVICE: Our server, Caroline, was amazing--so warm, welcoming, approachable, helpful, and accommodating. She really made the meal special. THE FOOD: The chicken fried steak was absolutely amazing, and the brown sugar banana pancake was fantastic. The biscuits were huge, fluffy, and packed with flavor, and both the gravy and mashed potatoes were incredibly flavorful. The oversized chorizo burrito was also excellent. THE DRINKS: The only negative was the pistachio coffee, which tasted a bit too artificial. We can't wait to go back home and visit our closest location!

It was really loud and there wasn't many soft surfaces to help absorb that sound. The location did appear to be clean. Now let's get to the food. I ordered the fried chicken benedict. Huge sprig of rosemary. Cayenne pepper (if it wasnt cayenne then idk what it was but thats what it tasted like) . Hollandaise was like glue. Maybe it was supposed to be gravy? Batter didnt stay on the chicken. Scrambled eggs in the chicken batter with a slice of cheese. Deep fried raw spaghetti noodles (why???). 2 pieces of bacon. Tomatoes. A pile of uncooked spinach. Frozen biscuit (if it wasnt frozen, you need a new biscuit maker). Mashed potatoes from a bag. Orange slice. Cantaloupe slice. This was a terrible version. Stop. Leave the stupid rosemary off your dishes. It looks stupid and not everyone likes rosemary. I dont recommend this place. Go to Dennys or Waffle House.

Almost didn't stop in because experience at our local BJ's Brewhouse in CA is just meh at best but…read moredo like the menu options and staying nearby. We were overall happy with the visit. Arrived for late lunch just before 1 pm-ish. We were seated promptly with a smile at a small booth for 2. I should have asked for a bigger booth as my teen is 6'5" and I'm 5'10" so we were knocking knees the whole time, but otherwise comfortable. The restaurant was not overly busy, perhaps 1/4 full but had a couple larger tables and we weren't in a hurry, but did wait 10 minutes for a server wondering if they knew we were there. I was totally fine waiting as not in a hurry, but a quick "be with you shortly" to acknowledge us would have sufficed. Redemption came when James greeted us and took our order. He was friendly, warm and happy to list options for sides and make sure we ordered exactly as we wanted. Our drinks actually came almost immediately as well, which was great considering mine was a Grand Patron Margarita, no salt and it arrive fast and without salt rim! Our food was typical speed for a chain style restaurant.. didn't really time it but was happy with the pace. Everything was correct and exactly as ordered. James had a trainee server with him.. so sorry, forgot the name but believe it started with an "M", She was bubbly, welcoming and took drink refills and dessert orders that both came out quickly, along with a to-go box as requested. Service was wonderful from both of our servers.. this is what really made the visit shine for us. The food was good, but not really "wow-ed" by anything. My son's burger was ordered Med Well but brown all the way through no sign of slight tinge of pink. He didn't care, he's 16 and eat's anything but mentioned it was a bit drier than the usual burger, but still loved it and ate every bite. I had the Mediterranean Chicken Pita Tacos.. loved the sauce on them and overall soft and fresh, but the chicken was well, just cooked chicken and that itself lacked a bit of flavor. I'm not sure I would order again as the chicken itself lacked flavor while the cucumbers and sauce were the highlight. My margarita was actually really good - LOVED it! I love the little bottle of Grand Marnier. Cute, clever, and not cheated with a "less than" float on top. Also reasonable at $14.99. I've paid more for terrible top shelf margaritas so this was a plus. My son had the Stars and Stripes Pizcookie, and let's be real, he chose BJ's to dine at just so he could have one of these. He was not disappointed and finished it in about 2 min flat.. no joke.. Me.. still sipping on that margarita!! A perfect place to stop after several hours of volleyball tournament games. My last little nit pick was some debris on the floor nearby, a straw and a wrapper that were picked up just before our visit ended, but I did step on the straw on the way to the restroom and it stayed there for quite some time. Fortunately the restrooms were clean and well stocked, but debris on the floor always makes you wonder about cleanliness overall including the kitchen, so would just do a quick run through for tables and floors a bit more often. We would return again should we be nearby again. Thank you to our lovely servers that made the visit for us or my stars would be a bit lower.. hard to get smiles, helpful menu insight, and attentiveness and even 5 star restarants we recently visited, so thank you James and trainee!!

Not in what you would say is the greatest location. Just not in the place you'd think a restaurant would be. That's not a negative just found it interesting. We were seated right away and opted for outside dining. You can see a lake across the street but if parking is full it's kinda blocked. But we really liked the vibe there. Laid back. Had some music going. We enjoyed eating out there. All of our meals were excellent. I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich (yum). We also got the mexi-cal bowl and the fajitas. They both were also yummy. We decided for the s'mores as dessert. We figured they'd bring out already made s'mores. But no. They bring you out the chocolate the marshmallows and the graham crackers and you cook it right there at your table with this mini fire thingy. It was good. The only thing I would have changed is that they brought out the chocolate ice cold so it didn't melt too well. But it was good. The star of our experience was our waiter. He was awesome. Very attentive, always keeping our drinks filled and super friendly. Having a great waiter just puts good meals over the top. Wish I would have grabbed his name so I could give him a shout out here. But he was working the outside tables on Saturday Apollo 18. Great job man. Overall, give this place a shot. Unique dishes that satisfies the taste buds. We'll be back.
