Wish I would have been here before! From the moment we got there the staff was nothing but great. The servers were very attentive and constantly were walking around making sure we had everything we wanted and needed. From order to the plate hit the table was ok considering that we ordered steak. We ordered a Mr picanha with a side of rice, beans, fries, fried yuca and fried egg. The steak was seasoned and cook perfectly. The way it came out it kept all the juice contained. It was serried covered in onion and with garlic pieces. We definitely cleaned that plate out even the garlic was grilled to perfection. The rice was good just needed some salt but that is just our preference. We did order a kids chicken plate and that I felt was a bit of waste. It was very small and price was not worth it looked like not even half a chicken breast cut up. It was served in a plastic plate that looked like it came from IKEA with previous cut marks on it. Not ideal for preventing plastic on food. We enjoyed the Brazilian lemonade a lot and even got more than one. The place his really high roof and it is not that big. Making the noice echo a lot maybe some sound mat's would do it good. Was very loud and my chair was touching the person behind me. Very cramped. To me that was the lost of star. Great service! At the end of the meal, Chef Gabriel even came over to check in. However, the food was lacking. Codfish pastels- delicious and piping hot! I wish there were no olives, but these were good Fried pork- PASS! Way overcooked and little meat. My jaws hurt from chewing on these. We decided to try this place on a whim; we wanted burgers and the reviews of the restaurant claimed they were great. We drove well out of our way to try this place out - on Google there are 4.7 stars with over a thousand reviews? Sounded great. When we arrived - on a Saturday night, there was hardly anyone else in the whole restaurant. Not a great sign, but maybe just a slow night. The lights were on full blast - very cool white fluorescents, which made it feel more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. I think the lights bothered us more than anything else, aesthetically. Not much going on in there either in terms of ambiance. We checked the reviews again and noticed that all the decent ones had been a few weeks or months ago, many were years old. Uh oh. We ordered burgers and empanadas; the empanadas came out quickly, were very hot and fairly good. The burgers, however....oh boy. Stay away. The consistency was very heavy; I felt like I was eating a tightly compacted meatball more than an actual burger. The meat blend they were using is picanha, which I've had before, and it was not like this. It was oozing with cheese and sauce, which was its only saving grace. At a price point of nearly $18, I felt immediate regret. Having to drown out the taste of a very mediocre burger with sauce is not what you want when you pay EIGHTEEN DOLLARS. You know when you try to take home leftover fries and reheat them? That's what the fries we were given tasted like. They were dry, stale, not at all hot or fresh, and had very clearly been microwaved. It actually grossed me out to think about what else we might have been served. My advice would be to check out one of the other spots in the area. A dinner for two, with one app and two entrees that costs $70 should actually be mostly edible. read more

I just ate way more food than any human should, I basically just asked them to give me everything that is traditional Brazilian that they recommend. A fun new find at Florida Mall! They were luckily open during the week of Dorian, and we were happy to have a place to sit and enjoy. We were greeted right away by the hostess and given a seat along the far left wall. They have a large open space and you can see the whole restaurant from any seat. Our server came over shortly after we were seated and took our drink choices. The sangria was HUGE - pictured. I found it odd that they had spaghetti on the menu, but boy was I happy to have ordered it. The portion sizes are huge and very filling. The sauce on the pasta was perfect and the noodles were cooked to a light al dente. They have an extensive menu with a ton of options sure to please just about anyone. Man, did this place get loud and crowded. It was nice and quiet when we arrived. My M-I-L can't hear well in the best of conditions and we might have chosen another place had we known what to expect. But we were excited to try a new place and my S-I-L was hell-bent for leather once she saw the huge burger ad just outside the mall entrance. We split the House Salad with grilled shrimp and enjoyed it with some blue cheese dressing (upon our request). The server (very friendly and helpful) was keen on us trying a traditional Brazilian dish called Mr. Picanha. Sorry, but I forgot to take a photo. Really a lot of meat medallions in a big circle on the plate. Would be good for keto diet fans, but my pieces were kinda gristly. I preferred the carb-y sides but Mike and Marsha seemed to enjoy the steak pieces. Sides we chose were beans, rice, fries and onion rings. The beans and white rice were both very nice and straightforward. The fries and onion rings were well battered and seasoned. Beer batter perhaps. I do recommend the Pastel Gateau dessert with chocolate filling and ice cream. Very nice and not too sweet or too filling. We split it among the 4 of us and it was just enough. The wait staff was friendly. But, the food was much too expensive for what we got. Also, my meal came-out a full 10 minutes before my wife's meal. So, we ended-up awkwardly splitting my meal and then awkwardly splitting hers. Finally, my wife ordered the 'PORTO / GOMES DE SÁ CODFISH (Shredded codfish in Gomes de Sa style) which was a very small portion for $34 (plus a ludicrously large portion of white rice) that was so salty, we both winced at the first bite. One important final note. There is literally no vegetables on the menu except for onions mixed with some orders and salads. We were looking forward to the experience but was not very impressed. I lived 12 years in Uruguay and have traveled numerous times to Brazil. Dishes were very inconsistent, some very salty and some had no flavor at all. Service was ok, the lady forgot a couple of orders and mixed up the right temperature for the steak and on top of everything put in a 20% tip for her self in the bill. NOT Cool. It's not a cheat day; it's a cheat lifestyle. Originated in São Paulo, Brazil, Hocca Bar brings its 70+ years of Brazilian tradition to Orlando. The restaurant is inviting, clean, and personalized. Their tables, chairs, and overall decor is the same as you would find in one of the Hocca Bars in Brazil. They have their own brand of Cachaça (Brazilian Rum) and hot sauce, and the ambiance exudes pride in the Hocca brand and Brazilian heritage, down to their bilingual staff and the oversized pictures on the wall of the owner's parents proudly standing in front of their first location. Their menu includes everything you would find at any other Hocca Bar, with the addition of burgers to cater to the American culture. We started off with their Bolinho de Bacalhau (codfish fritters). You will find these pretty much everywhere in Brazil, but Hocca Bar has a secret family recipe that is really tasty. It was even better dipped in their hot sauce... yum. We also tried 3 of their mini pastéis (empanadas): chicken, cheese, and shrimp. Their dough comes straight from Brazil for full authenticity. Our favorite pastél was the shrimp. They fill the dough with shrimp and cheese, and they fry it to perfection. It was crunchy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and packed with flavor. Every bite made us want to dance. Simply delicious. We also tried 2 of their mini sandwiches: Picanha Steak and Mortadella. Like their pastél dough, they also import their bread, and this little extra touch makes their sandwiches worth trying. Brazilians take their bread very seriously, and you'll find a bakery in almost every corner in Brazil. I (Aline) can attest to this, since I'm from there. As a bread connoisseur, I can say that the bread was great, but I can't give a fair review of their sandwiches because they contained mustard, which I really dislike. Next time I go there, I'll order the sandwiches again, but with mayonnaise instead. Hocca also offers typical dishes that you'll find inalmost any Brazilian restaurant. We ordered the Mr. Picanha, which serves 2, and it was accompanied by Sautéed onions and garlic, rice, black beans, farofa (flavored yucca flour), and Brazilian vinaigrette. The steak was cooked perfectly, and it was super juicy. The sides were also good, but we both thought that the entire dish lacked a little salt. But that's an easy fix. Regardless, we would definitely order this dish again. For dessert, Ashley had their homemade churros, which were served hot and slathered in doce de leite (caramel). It was a large portion, so she took the rest for the people athome who were slobbering over our Instagram story. I'm allergic to cinnamon, so there was plenty left for them. Everyone loved the churros. They said it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and they loved the decadent sauce. Keep in mind that Hocca is also a bar, so don't leave without trying one of their caipirinhas. They have the Original lime caipirinha and some signature ones, as well. The drinks are made to order, and they don't cut corners with syrups. They mash the sugar with the fruits, just like they do in Brazil... yum. Chef Horácio is doing a great job, and we can't wait to try Hocca Bar again. Located near the dinning pavilion of Florida Mall this chic Brazilian full service restaurant is serving up delicious food and drinks! They have booths and tables, we immediately grabbed a booth and ordered some drinks. They are known for their signature caipirinha so we had to have one! A mix of cachaca, vodka, and sake. You can get either lime, mixed berry, or other fruity flavors. For a started we had the yucca fries, which were crisp but not greasy! They have this orange creamy hot sauce. Tastes amazing, but small small dips because it is SPICY! Their world famous pastel/empanadas were my favorite! They have so many options all filled with such flavor! I stopped in after a long day to check Hocca because I was craving some Brazilian bites. My friends and I decided to try all three caipirinhas and my favorite was the passion fruit one. It was a little hard to decide which was my favorite so I'm surprised I picked one. Be careful, they're strong. Pro tip, ask for a spoon to eat the fruit. Next, we tried some pastels - codfish, cheese, and beef. The cheese and beef pastels were my favorite! It's so convenient to eat too that I'd have some each morning on the way to work. They'll come with a side of thin fries, which is so unique! I love them. Makes you feel like you're eating less so be careful! We were in a sandwich mood today so we picked the 1933 traditional mortadella and Hocca cheese brisket. The brisket one was my favorite because I love brisket, but the other one was also full of flavors. Both were packed with meat so no complaints there. For dessert, we had the Vulcano, which is a tower of brownies and ice cream. We looked away for too long because my friend's daughter scarfed it all down! Imagine the energy that produced. Holy portion sizes! Let me just start by saying that the prices on the menu are fair.. I guarantee you will have some for dinner, lunch the next day, and then some. It's an authentic Brazilian sit-down eatery, with actual locations in Brazil. The restaurant itself is quite cozy and homey-feeling. Now, if you've been living in Orlando for as long as I have, you've noticed the influx of Brazilian tourists. Not only is this good for the Orlando and Floridian economy, but it brings them Brazilian restaurants (keep 'em coming!) I tried their salmon and steak, and while I did finish the salmon (which was a bit dry, still delicious) -- OH MAH GOODNESS, did I have steak for days! There's a lot that you can choose from, but make sure you try Brazil's national cocktail, aka the caipirinha. I opted for the non-alcoholic version, which was still delicious! Pastel Dolce & Banana is four mini fried pastels stuffed with fresh bananas, topped with dulce de leche, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and served with vanilla ice cream and is a must have dessert at Hocca. The Fogosa is a signature Caipirinha with mango, passion fruit, tabasco and pink pepper. Hocca has a variety of handcrafted cocktails, sangrias, beers and wine available on the menu. Chef Horácio Gabriel and his team have done an excellent job of bringing the passion and fun of the Hocca brand to Orlando and to the United States.
