My partner absolutely loves anything potato and I was personally intrigued by the fact that Guy Fieri has mentioned and visited them multiple times! We haven't been to Mrs. Potato in a while. We stopped in because my son was craving a baked potato. We were immediately greeted upon entering. We engaged in conversation with staff as we ordered. I ordered the Steak with Double Broccoli and my son got the Philly Cheese Steak Baked Potato. The restaurant still displays various potato head toys. I decided to take myself here for lunch one day and found a new favorite place to go. I arrived around 12 o'clock and there was only one of the party in the restaurant before me. It is a small location so if you're a larger group it's probably not the best location to go to. The parking lot is shared with a large strip mall And I did find that I had to circle a few times before I found a spot. I tried the strawberry juice (handmade every day), a ground beef empanada, and the chicken catupiry rosti. This is shredded chicken and cheese in a hash brown like Patti. All the food was incredibly delicious. I do wish the ground beef empanada had more ground beef in it. Overall, the food was absolutely delicious and I would definitely be going back! Such an amazing hole in the wall restaurant. I came on a Saturday evening and was greeted immediately. I sat on a small table inside. I decided to go Non-Alcoholic this time and enjoy some passion fruit juice (about 7 dollars), which was freshly made. I really enjoyed the sweetness of the fruit and I don't think they added any sugars either. So it was healthy and delicious. For my entree, I had to try their famous rosti, and I took the small chicken rosti with salad (18 dollars). The salad was fresh and amazing, while the rosti was filling and great. I never tried rosti before, but it is like a hash brown with fillings. While I wish there were more chicken in the filling, it was moist and flavorful. There could have been more cream cheese for the flavor, but adding some pepper condiment provided what I was looking for. The small portion was still enough for my to even take home the next day. The service was attentive and caring. It was pretty quick too as I was in and out in less then an hour. The atmosphere is very small and casual with potato heads and pictures of Guy Ferrari at their restaurant. Outdoor seating is also available, but I wanted to stay warm. The noise level was library quiet, so you could also enjoy a relaxing or romantic dinner with your partner as well. I am so happy I tried this place. It's definitely a hidden gem that definitely deserved to be recognized by that food network show. My dad is a big Diners, Drive Ins and Dives fan - so after seeing this place on the show we had to go when he came to visit. It was much smaller than I was expecting, with only about 6-10 tables inside. There was a whole outpost seating area though and it wasn't crowded. Absolutely a heaven for all potato lovers. I personally love potatoes so much so I was attracted to this restaurant by its name. I got the Carne Seca rosti and the truffle sauce gnocchi. Gosh I can't be more happy with the rosti, I cant imagine how it could be made better - the hash brown has perfectly crispy shell and the perfectly soft inside, and the meat together is a bite of a perfect hash brown pie. The gnocchi is really good too and love the truffle sauce that is flavorful but not overpowering. The caipirinha doesn't have much (if any) of the normal cachaca flavor, which actually made it more refreshing and to me better than the normal under the orlando weather. The soup bar is the star attraction here, offering six different soups and a toppings bar with plenty of options to customize your bowl. I saw croutons and macaroni (to bulk up your soup if needed) onions, different cheeses, fresh herbs, hot sauce, and more! Plus, you get unlimited baskets of bread--baguette and pão de queijo -- and if you ask, there's garlic sauce to go with it. Last Friday, the 6 soups were black bean, hearts of palm, creamy potato, short rib and grits, caldo verde, and cheesy cauliflower. My only gripe? The soups weren't labeled for allergies or dietary preferences--I mistakenly assumed the black bean was vegetarian until I bit into a chunk of meat. We also tried a "small" rosti potato, which was still big enough for two people and came with a fresh side salad. The rosti was perfectly cooked--crispy outside, cheesy inside, and very satisfying. The leftovers heated up nicely for breakfast the next day too! Just like there are so many potato dumb dad jokes (seriously google it) this restaurant has the humble vegetable in all kinds of dishes. I think a lot of people come in for the 'Rosti' which you may have seen on Food Network's Diners Drive-ins & Dives. This potato pancake looks big enough for two people to share or a generous appetizer for a table. It looked and smelled wonderful and is definitely different from latkes. I went here twice and when I was there they had the soup buffet set up on the covered and screened patio. The soup was $19 something so this was my main meal. I really enjoyed this soup as they were all really nice flavors and chock full of ingredients. They did have some vegetarian options. The only reason I gave them 4.5 is that a few of the soups on the day I dined might have used the same base (creamy) and were similar. I really like trying a variety. This place is great for a Florida winter meal or anytime you need a bottomless soup bowl. I also had the cod fritters to go on another occasion and I thought they were not at all greasy for a fried menu option. I liked these a lot and enjoyed them in my vehicle. These are best served hot as they are crispy fish nuggets. This is not a large restaurant and the interior is modern and decorated with a couple potato heads. Service was prompt and efficient so no complaints. The soup buffet is self service so the pace of your meal is up to you. I will return to Mrs Potato because it's spud-tacular! Warned you. read more
