I stopped into the lobby bar Swizzle when at the Cabana Bay hotel yet again when I was in town the other week. I first stayed at the Cabana Bay a couple years ago on a whim. Once I stayed once and appreciated the midcentury design of the place I was hooked. And the Swizzle Lounge was definitely one of the perks. When I was running late, driving north after work from South Florida I had a 1st primary objective, make it in time to grab one martini at Swizzle. I was making ok time but when I got into the lobby I knew I only had 15 minutes to spare. And there was a long line to check in. When I finally checked in I only had minutes left. I walked up the busy evening bar with little to no hope. And yet one of the busy bartenders saw me and said they had last call already, but they would get me for one. Halleluiah. One martini later and I was ready to wander to our room. The Swizzle is retro, brightly lit, and especially friendly. Looking forward to stopping in again soon. read more

We just wrapped up a family staycation at Universal's Cabana Bay Resort and the best part of the whole property might just be Swizzle Lounge! The bar is located in the hotel lobby and currently has a Halloween themed overlay. As a huge Halloween Horror Nights fan I was SO excited about this. Not only did they have Halloween themed drinks, but they had pumpkin decorations everywhere. It was the perfect spot to sit at after a long park day. This is one of my favorite hotels in the world and I love that they have four bar areas with a slight variety in their listed drinks. I also like their draught beer selection. It is usually a combination of familiar beers and some I am not able to get at home. Their prices are not too bad and they always have the ability to make some non-alcoholic versions of the drinks and mocktails. It is located in the lobby and unlike many hotels bars I have seen, this one seems to get a good stream of customers. The good amount of selection is fabulous for a "budget" hotel and there are plenty of good places to sit both inside and outside the hotel. My husband and I stopped off at Swizzle Lounge before our dinner one of the nights of our anniversary trip, and we really enjoyed our drinks. But we enjoyed the bartenders even more! They were so friendly and wonderful! I was tasked with choosing a drink for my husband since I won a game we have with each other where we guess the amount of our check at dinner before it comes. Anyway, I ordered him a spicy margarita and the bartender said "do you want the one one the menu or the one *I* make?" We obviously chose the one *he* makes. My husband absolutely loved it! We also chatted with a bartender who just had an amazing personality! I loved her glasses and she gave us a bunch of tips for our upcoming dinner! I ordered an espresso martini because I was fading fast after a day at the parks. It was pretty good too! From what I can tell from previous days, the bar fills up quick so plan for that! They had decorated the bar with Halloween decor that was totally in the theme of the hotel: mid century modern. And we found a lil boo! Wowza! This bar was such a convenience for us! After a long day traveling from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando we saw this bar was open so we decided to grab a quick drink before going to our room. The bartender Brian greeted us with so much positive energy it was infectious and made us forget about our tired aches and pains. We asked what he recommended from the options we were pondering so we decided to try the Nutty Russian and the Swizzle Punch. Both of these drinks were unique tasty and packed a punch. They were so good we had to go the following day to get more! Since the bar is open to the lobby area, you may see kids sitting here with their parents. It is difficult to get a seat in the evenings or throughout the night so just be patient. You have the option to get drinks in a plastic cup so you can walk around the area with your drink. Live entertainment is available on weekend evenings and the entertainment varies. It's a great place if you're staying at the hotel but it's not a place I would make a point of coming to if you're not at this hotel. read more

I love the Swizzle Lounge! It's right in the lobby of Cabana Bay so you'll see the coming and goings of all the guests at the hotel. Honestly I had fun people watching from their cool retro seating. If you prefer more of the actual bar feel, you can belly up and mingle with the bartender. Their bartender is just great! Knows his stuff and gave us some background on things, including their generous pours! They do happy hour until 7pm each day - and it's a great happy hour! Yuengling $5 pints and $6 house wines and cocktails. Great bartender, good drinks and very fun atmosphere transporting you back to the 50s/60s with the accompanying soundtrack to boot. read more

Quality of the drinks are highly dependent on who your bartender is. The first night at Cabana Bay my boyfriend got one of the old fashions and loved it so much that he asked the bartender if she would be working all week. When we came back a few days later we had a different bartender who seemed to put little to no thoughts into making our drinks. He didn't add the garnishes and the flavors were off for both of our drinks. All that to say you might get either an incredible or a very "okay" drink depending on who is making it. read more

One of the best bars in any hotel on Universal property, the Swizzle lounge really is a blast. Brian is the main bartender here, and as others have noted, this guy knows how to have fun. Don't know what you want to drink, as Brian.....he will make you something fantastic. As he says, you don't like it, he will just drink it. The man cooked up a fantastic old fashioned, and amped it up a bit with more alcohol as opposed to a basic cherry. I thought it would be overkill, but it was fantastic. So good in fact, I kept sending people over to him to get him to make one for them. The theming here is a blast, they even trick it out during holidays like Halloween and Christmas. There is a really varied cocktail menu that will have something for virtually everyone, regardless of your favorite spirit, and also good selection of beer and wine. We had the Bootin' Scootin' Old Fashioned, the Honey Bee, the Swizzle Rum Punch and the Spicy Stinger. All were good. Service: Were we just lucky to get Tinh or is everyone at Swizzle that good? This is a great lobby bar. The place is done with the cutest kitschy furniture. All cute mid century chairs and lights in a great big open space. The cocktail menu is great, it's a mix of classic cocktails with a few tropical drinks tossed in. I chose a terrific ghost old fashioned. It is served with fun swizzle sticks. let me start by saying the last time we stayed at Cabana Bay we didn't get a chance to stop by this lobby bar and let's just say it was our worst mistake! The bartender is absolutely hilarious. He knows his stuff, and when i say "know" I mean it. Four of us (who are very indecisive) had him make us cocktails based on our liquor choice and likes (sweet, sour, etc) and he threw together some of the best drinks I've ever had. Happy hour is also 5-7 DAILY which is a huge win. $6 for a pretty great pour, definitely one of the best we've had in our stay here, and packed with alcohol. We have came back nightly (open til midnight) for the live music and honestly just the vibe. Definitely try it out!! read more

The Swizzle Lounge might only be a hotel lobby bar, but it's a helluva good one. Submerge yourself in the 1950s vibe, have a classic cocktail off their (reasonably priced) menu and request your beverage be served in a plastic cup- you're going to want to drink it on the baby blue lounge chairs outside. The cucumber gimlet is delicious but I ordered mine with Hendricks instead of the New Amsterdam they usually serve it with and it was great. I also had (over the course of a couple of nights) a New Tom Collins (really refreshing) and a New Old Fashioned (served with orange bitters) and I have to say skip that one unless what you're really looking for is your last drink of the night- it's super strong. This is personally for the bartender that worked tonight (4/28/2022) his name is Brian, he belittled me and took my drink out my hand forcefully bc I handed my drink to my girlfriend who he didn't even care to ask for her ID , I had needed both my hands to get up from the low seat in the bar after a long day at the parks. I came outside to avoid the iPad children that we had accidentally sat next to and he assumed that I was letting her drink my drink outside , he ran after us snatched my drink from me then yelled in my face telling he was going to kick me out and call security . The moment he walked out the door I knew there was going to be an issue he rose his voice from the start as we calmly explained our situation. He then proceeded to not serve me even though I came back up to the bar respectively with my ID in hand (again) just to be belittled continuously in front of other guests which was humiliating and unacceptable , drink was okay (not made by him) but his attitude was not. Also continued to black list me from the bar at the hotel that paid to stay at for the rest of my trip he's the worst bartender, fake attitude and not nice . read more

I stayed at the cabana bay resort in June and it was my second stay there, and the swizzle lounge is always my favorite spot to enjoy a drink. The bartenders are always so friendly and nice and it's never been crazy busy when I visited (though it seems to be busier with the live musicians.) The drinks are great and retro and my favorite was the man on the moon cocktail that was made with tang, and I wish I could make it at home!
