I stayed at The Hard Rock for 4 nights to celebrate my birthday in June, and Anthony, the bartender, truly made the trip unforgettable. From the first night, he was welcoming, fun to talk to, and mixed some of the best cocktails I've had. He not only remembered my favorite drinks but also recommended a few new ones that quickly became favorites. What stood out even more was how much he cared about making the experience special. Anthony gave me great food recommendations around the resort, and on the night of my birthday he surprised me by sending an assortment of snacks up to my room. It was such a thoughtful touch that made me feel celebrated and really added to the whole trip. Anthony goes above and beyond--great drinks, great conversation, and genuinely top-notch service. If you're at The Hard Rock, or enjoying the universal parks or resort, do yourself a favor and spend some time at the bar with him. He was there the last time we stayed there for my birthday as well. Velvet bar was recently remodeled, and it feels simultaneously bigger and cozier, too. The drinks are perfectly balanced, unique, and very playful with their rock and roll theming. We had a really great server who engaged us thoroughly about Halloween Horror Nights (We were there for a drink before scares). There is also an abbreviated food menu too. Got to the hard rock a little after 9pm and came straight here for a drink after checking in. Live music inside was great but a little too loud for what we wanted. Outside seating was comfy, quieter and easy to find lounge seating. Variety of fun cocktails to choose from. Can't go wrong with any. All You Criminals: a classic old fashioned, did the job Took My Chances on a big Big Jet Plane: a sweet whisky drink, just how I like them. 10/10 for someone who normally get tequila. I have been wanting to stop in to the Velvet Bar for some time now, I finally had the opportunity. The atmosphere was comfortable and nice for talking with others in your party, there was live music but not so loud you couldn't think. Our server was attentive even though he was super busy, he made sure to stop by the table to check in or get refills. I was the only one in our group who had anything to eat, the Velvet Sliders were excellent. The beef was cooked just right and the sautéed mushrooms and onions were just right. The trio checked on us often and made sure our glasses never went empty. We had the charcuterie board and a Caesar salad to snack on. Charcuterie board had great choices of cheese and meats. Delicious and great paring with my Daou Cabernet. Hubby had the Buffalo Trace old fashion. They know how to make a great old fashion. Definitely recommend coming here! I stopped here for a couple drinks while going to a show at Hard Rock Live. The bar itself is somewhat small, but they have a large outside patio that looks over the pool. Our server Avery was friendly and attentive, and offered us some snacks while we hung out and drank. The beer selection was pretty decent, and they had a full liquor bar. This is also a convenient way to visit Hard Rock Live without having to go through the main park entrance. read more

Happy hour from 5 - 7pm for the win! I was waiting for a friend to pick me up for dinner so I headed to the par for a drink beforehand. The decor is super cool, definitely has the Rock and Roll vibe that you would expect. The coctail I had was delicious and the price was great. It was a Hard Cider with Burbon, the combination was surprisingly delicious and it was more than enough for the night. I thought it would come in a little coctail glass but it didn't. A pint for me! With it came a great little glass of snacks just for me. It was super early so the vibe was chill. I would have been just a tad more comfortable if there hadn't been so many employees just hanging around socializing. We went here for drinks while staying at the Hard Rock, and I was horribly disappointed. Having just had dinner at the Kitchen, I wished we had just stayed there for another round. I'm not sure how there could be such a disconnect. There were only three of us, and since it was only around 9 or so, we had no problem finding a nice couch area in front of TV (to watch the most random music videos ever!) the service was fine, but not amazing. At one point, the manager/bouncer someone came over and "reminded" us, that the bar area was for people aged 21 and over. We were all sitting silently looking at our phones, not sure what the issue was. Then I realized he was referencing me (I'm 3'9") We all looked at each other, then I caught on and laughed and said, "Thank you sir, but I'm going to be 30 next week." He was mortified, and muttered something about how he didn't know cause I was looking at my phone, but ok we all had waters soooo.... I half expected a free drink or something to be done to remedy the humiliating situation, but he just scurried away and nobody spoke of it again. Our drinks came and were VERY disappointing. One tasted like cough syrup (and was supposed to have a rim of pop rocks, but there were just one or two sadly floating in my pop rocks martini), the Flirtini tasted like perfume and the other two tasted like straight alcohol. Completely underwhelmed by the whole less than a rock star experience, we closed our tab and went back to our room. I was very disappointed as it did not align with the other amazing dining experiences we had at the Hard Rock hotel. Maybe we lucked out coming after July 4th and before Disney officially reopens but this place was a hit. A quiet night at the Hard Rock Hotel. The Topanga Canyon drink was solid and worth the money. Ken the bartender was great at mixing other drinks not on the menu and also a fun companion for a few hours. We got the BBQ chicken flatbread and the velvet sliders. Both were great, the sliders were some of the best I've ever had. Great flavor combination and a nice slight bit of heat from the tobasco onions. Prices are slightly higher being in universal property but overall everything was good. Thumbs up. read more

If you're looking for something quiet, affordable and upscale this is the bar for you. The bar is spacious and provides a lot of seating and standing room. The vibe and spacious seating is what really caught my attention when I walked in. There are some booths with couches. We sat at a booth and it took a while to get served so we ended up walking to the bar and were served right away. It's only a 5 minute walk to Universal Studios front entrance. read more

Much different than what I would had expected for a Hard Rock Hotel lobby bar. I guess I should had known by the OMD 80's hit being blasted in the bar.....and just a scattering of people. Not very hard rocky at all....brightly lit and furniture that looks like it came straight from a Z Gallery with a stopover from Pottery Barn....80's music (which I do like maybe if it was depeche mode or something more cutting edge not top 40 80's music) was blaring and kind of annoying. Friendly service though and a full bar. Although the drinks were overpriced - expected for a hotel lobby bar but one would at least expect some decent prices since the bar was empty...A okay place to unwind if you don't want to leave the hotel but the ambience is less than hard rock and the blaring 80's music doesn't even make it a good place just to chill out and relax. read more

Nice place to hang out sans the kids. Has a very hip vibe inside, the bartenders seem to know what they are doing, guess it's hit or miss depending on who is there that nights. Came here a couple of times during our stay and they were all competent, not that I was ordering anything too complicated. There is a nice large outside private patio. I was able to purchase some cigars from the Palm restaurant next door and relax with a nice Martini and Fuente out here. Worth checking out! read more

Thanks to Kelli M and Brian M for finding a lost soul wandering around Universal Studios and introducing her to the Velvet Bar. Just inside the lobby of the Hard Rock Hotel, the Velvet lounge brings to mind everything the name suggests. Animal print chairs, rock legend memorabilia and drinks. They have a decent happy hour. Not too much of a discount (it is a tourist hotel) but they have a nice selection of specialty drinks. They give you some spicy nuts to munch on when you get there. Very tasty. I opted for the chocolate cake/mousse with raspberries for dessert. I enjoyed it. The raspberries were a little frozen on the inside which was a little disappointing but good otherwise. Our waitress was really good. Very friendly and tried her hardest to explain the jalepeno drink special. I quite enjoyed my evening here, then we headed back over the Universal Studios. read more

I stayed at the Hard Rock for a few days so naturally was a short-time regular at Velvet Bar. This is a classic off-lobby hotel bar with the expected Rock-n-Roll twist that is Hard Rock's loud modus operandi. Decent wine and beer selection (for a Florida bar haha) and great atmosphere if you don't mind it a little on the loud side. There's a nice patio overlooking the pool area; this is a great hangout spot if the weather is cooperating. I'm honestly not in love with the food menu here but there's nothing particularly wrong with it either. They cover all the main bases in adequate fashion, but there was nothing that just screamed "EAT ME!" I ordered the meatball sub and found it to be average to average-plus, with a good side salad, and just a tad overpriced but that's to be expected in a resort-level hotel. Finally, the service was great. Everyone at the bar was pleasant and seemed genuinely happy to be there. All in all, I'd recommend it for happy hour and late night, but I'd probably look elsewhere for dinner if you're feeling mobile; there are a lot of great restaurants relatively close by. 4 stars! read more

It was a cool atmosphere. I had a a margarita, I believe it was the Pama. It was very good and the server was not hesitant when I asked for both sugar and salt on the rim. We ordered: gator bites and a Caesar salad. The gator bites were really good with the friend sweet potato chips. As for the Caesar salad, there wasn't enough dressing and it wasn't "good" but it did satisfy. I would definitely visit again. Good service, cool environment, and nice decor. read more

This bar is set inside the lobby of the Hard Rock Hotel. There are small tables and plush couches inside. It's great for an intimate afternoon/evening. My favorite part is their porch. Plenty of seats outside with a beautiful view of the wide lawn; it's incredibly chill! There is a small but great beer selection on tap. You'll find some local breweries as well as domestic favorites and there is plenty of liquor available too. The staff here is always friendly and efficient. This space can also be rented for private parties. I've been to quite a few here and they are always spectacular especially when they serve brunch after midnight. Sitting on the porch drinking wine and eating bacon; it doesn't get better haha! Take a moment to look around because there is some great memorabilia on the walls as well. read more

Very cool bar and restaurant. Have not ordered any food from here, but this place is one of the things that make the hard rock hotel in Orlando special. It is a nice extension of the museum of famous musician's instruments, and outfits that are strewn about the entire hotel. The service is good. There is always rock music playing and this is a great place to go grab a drink before heading to a concert at Hard Rock Live. Hard Rock hotel hosts velvet session once a month in their lobby and this is the place to grab a drink when you are attending and waiting for one of those concerts to start. It is also one of my favorite places to grab a drink with a visitor from out of town when they want to go visit city walk and check out the Hard Rock Hotel as part of that. read more

She remembered our drink orders after one visit, and was fun to talk with. We kept coming back just to see her!
