This is my absolute favorite pizza. I always get the Sicilian pizza there with vodka sauce. The service is also very friendly. read more

Ordered delivery today and it was so unprofessional and rude! Look maplewood pizzeria don't act all bougie when delivering to Irvington. LOL the driver stated no parking and come on I have video surveillance I saw everything. It's the day after Thanksgiving and there was plenty of parking. She pulled into the driveway and shoved the box to my mother and said thanks for nothing and that is exactly why we decided not to tip her because of the unprofessional behavior. But wait it gets better. I called the restaurant and asked to talk to the manager and she mentioned they don't have their own delivery driver and the rely on doordash and Uber to order deliver which is a lie! Ive known this business for years and after today I will no longer support this business and mentioned to others sbout their untruthful behavior. For the delivery driver I believe in karma because how you treated my mother was unacceptable and lied about parking...listen to the directions to ring the bell instead of sitting in your van. I'm glad I got everything on surveillance. read more

Maplewood Pizzeria is just flat out perfect. Itd be a crime to give this business anything less than a 5. Aright fine, 4. A lot of people leave room for mistakes so, there. For me though?! Ive been coming here since i was idk 10 yrs old. The signature taste, leaving columbia for lunch freshman year, there is just something that feels and tastes so nostalgic. Like it puts me right back to 2001. You really cant miss here. Pizza to sandwiches to dinners, you name it. Of late, my no doubter go to AGAIN has been their italian cheesesteak "my way" (even though its not really): italian cheesesteak with peppers onions fries provolone ketchup mayo. ROCKIN! Just trust me, i dont lie on my reviews ;) read more

One of my fave pizza shops I'm town was my go to especially when I went to Columbia. I loved their zeppoles too but upset they switched their garlic knots to friend balls not good read more

Ordered through my wife's app, then the wait time kept getting pushed back. We called this place directly and they claimed to not know about our order. They told us we were calling the wrong place. We were not. They made no effort to look into the issue. I had to get a refund from the app instead. Very frustrating and disappointing. read more

I've been searching all over North Jersey for a pizza as good as the boardwalk. Maplewood Pizza answered that call! Best pizza in this area. Highly recommended read more

Great pizza and great sandwiches. The owners and most of the staff are great and very accommodating. However sometimes the people answering the phone have no idea what they are doing at times and get the orders wrong. The manager/owners always make good on it. Very nice and accommodating. read more

We placed 2 orders for future delivery. The first one was delivered a week early and when we called them, they did not offer to rectify the situation until a supervisor had to call back and complain(again) Then we had our second delivery scheduled for a specific time; they did not come at the agreed upon time and they did not call to tell us they were running late; when we called, they said that they were waiting for their driver. They arrived almost an hour later than scheduled. I would not recommend using them, they are not organized at all. read more

Best pizza around. I choose this local business over the bigger chains 10 out of 10 times. We are new to the area and already faithful customers. read more

Bottom line: I'm a sucker for great food and top notch service and this place has both. I'm actually not new to the restaurant but I've been vegan for a year now and today was my first day stopping by in over a year just to see if they could make me a vegan pie... They did! And it was delicious!!! More important, like every time I come there, the service is superb and I felt appreciated as a customer. Hands down, the best pizza in Maplewood/South Orange! read more

I am 56 years old. I still think cold pizza is the best breakfast food there is. What I am saying is: I love pizza. This is all by way of context. Yesterday was the first day in my life I actually threw away pizza for being inedible. Yes, I was starving, so I dove in, but by the third slice, I couldn't take the salt. That was the only real flavor; the pizza was nothing but salt and grease...and more salt. I tossed the rest, and won't ever be going back. read more

Honestly the worst slice I ever had, and I'm not trying to exaggerate. Needed to grab something quick on my break , so I found this place. I ordered a plain slice , and it was beyond greasy. While damping it , the grease was dark orange . I had to use maybe 10-15 napkins just to be okay to eat. The dough isn't that good. After i ate it , my stomach felt heavy and bothered . Definitely never going there read more

Where do I start with this place... 1) The girl who answered the phone was complete jerk off and couldn't have cared less to take my address down correctly. We have had this place mix our address up not once but twice now. 2) Same girl as noted above hung up and just said thank you, no estimated time for delivery. I had to call back to get that to which she said "at least an hour" interesting...probably something I would mention upfront 3) sure enough, driver went to wrong address in the wrong city 4) the order was incorrect and the pizza was greasy and cut like crap You're rolling the dice if you order from here. I will never order from here again. read more

Chris is the best pizza maker and is very handsome. I would so come back here again. Best pizza ever And samantha is pretty cool too, I think samantha and chris are brothers and sisters. read more

Maplewood Pizza has been going strong for 30 years now. No one probably appreciates them as much as the hungry students from Columbia HS right across the street, but I have come to admire them for what they are and I'm a fan, too. This is not a fancy pants, artisan, best-pizza-list-ranking kind of spot. This is a tried and true pizzeria that kicks it old school, and makes a really good slice. Reminds me of the stuff I grew up on, which is basically the NY-style thin crust variety. So far, I've tried their regular, pepperoni, sausage and white slices. All were really satisfying, with a nice crust, savory sauce, and excellent proportions of cheese and toppings. They are also a full service Italian restaurant, offering salads, sandwiches, pastas, seafood and other various entree selections. They do catering as well, which I have enjoyed at some local gatherings around town. Overall, this is just a solid place. Service is always fast and friendly, prices are fair and I keep coming back! read more

Maplewood Pizzeria has always been amazing but I'm not here to write about that. I reached out to the owners to see if they could do something special for my birthday and even brought up the idea of making a birthday cake out of pizza. It was nothing less than AMAZING. Everyone at my party fell in love with it and wanted to order one for their own next birthday! They were extremely accommodating and did everything to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. read more

Took nearly an hour and a half to get here. The estimated time was about an hour, but that's not what i'm really upset about. Currently, i'm warming my oven so I can have a warm meal... If delivery usually takes this long, investing in some of those insulated pizza delivery bags wouldn't be a terrible idea... read more

2 stars is for the food and nothing else! So we ordered from here on ubereats - probably my first mistake but whatever. They use their own couriers so ubereats estimated time of arrival between 835/855 (about an hour and 10 minutes/1.30 from time of order placed) and they arrived at 915 - almost 2 full hours (for one small pizza). Again - who knows if that would've been different if I hadn't used ubereats so I'll own that one. The food however.... Honestly, this is not a family of picky eaters - especially when it comes to pizza - personally, I'm of the mind frame that pizza is good even when it's bad - but good lord the OVERKILL of ricotta on this white pizza rendered it essentially inedible. We literally squeezed out whatever excess ricotta we could (and were left with well over a half a cup of EXTRA ricotta) and it was still overpowering to the point that we ended up throwing away well over half the small pizza. Can't say that I'll give this place another shot anytime soon if at all. Really just wanted to warn that even as ricotta lovers, we were sincerely disappointed in the white pizza and would warn against ordering it vehemently. read more

Fast delivery of good, hot 'za. Good prices for decent pies. A solid neighborhood go-to.

I came here randomly late one night right before closing and had them warm up the last 2 plain slices they had sitting in the case. I didn't think it was going to be any good based on the fact that it was dead inside and the pizza had probably been sitting there for a long time. To my surprise it was some of the best plain pizza I've had in a while. Great taste, right amount of sauce and cheese. I will certainly be returning! read more

Best chicken finger/fry slice I've ever had. Staff is funny as heck. Saints for putting up with all those high school students every day.

I went here to get a chicken cheese steak and fries not pizza but it was very tasty and fresh. The spot was very busy but the people were kind read more

Love this place--it's our family favorite. We get cheese pizza mostly--such a wonderful crust. Just like the New York style pizza that I grew up eating. Used to have to get it as a delivery but now we moved down the street so we can visit their charming restaurant. So friendly! Lovely to chat with Bart, Stephanie, and everyone there. read more

I'm updating my review. MP has continued to decline over the past year, now by my accounting a three-years-long slide into mediocrity, or worse. Reminding, my last delivered pizza was not only a liquid ooze in the middle, unable to be scraped off the cardboard box, as-if baked in a Suzy Homemaker Oven, it wasn't even sliced. MP has a great business location, an easy in/out by car, since not downtown, and right across the street from the high school. They seem to have adopted a business model that HS kids can be worked over so much that nothing else matters. MP are easily the worst pizza place in the SO/MW area. read more

The Sausage, Broccoli rabe and Fresh mozzarella large pie was so delicious!! Better than I expected since broccoli rabe tends to be tough. They are always so nice when we order, but we usually get the usual pepperoni or veggie and they are delicious but the sausage, broccoli rabe is our new favorite! read more

Very rude to students and the pizza is often times greasy. Still taste very good, but I am really big on customer service.

Super bummed to have to give so few stars to a place I initially loved so much (see glowing Dave B. review by my hubs), but they've seriously dropped the ball every time I've ordered from them since then. 9 times out of 10 they have run out of my beloved whole wheat crust -- the main reason I go there at all -- and they even have sent me on my way with a half burnt pie. They're also oddly inaccurate in their time estimates. Inevitably we have to wait 10 minutes or more after the 20 minute time they quote. Last time they were just putting our pie in the oven when we walked in 20 minutes after ordering -- and it was clearly a slow night. I adore their whole wheat crust, but might have to stop going there since they so rarely have it, and when they do it's either burnt or seriously delayed. read more

Good slice of pizza. Can be VERY busy because of the school across the street. Pizza slices over all have been amazing. The steak sandwich was just okay, I'd stick with some of the delicious pizza slices. Service is always great! read more

Unfortunately I can't recommend this establishment. The pizza was extremely greasy and not edible. Also the salad was prepared horribly. I had to return it and they still messed it up. Then the 3rd salad was still wrong and they removed stuff I asked for but gave me the same salad without changing it. It was missing tomatoes to boot becausethey handed me back the SAME SALAD. Then after the 3rd salad the girl screams at me "here" with an attitude and a loud voice. I do not recommend this place at all. I won't go back between the bad attitude and bad pizza and even the salad wasn't edible. read more

Every pizza I have had from there so far is great! The chicken/bacon/ranch, the cheeseburger pizza which I though would be weird was awesome, whit pie. It's the crust that does it, soooo good. Fast, reliable delivery. read more

We are new to town. We tried Roman Gourmet and it was just okay. We ordered a large cheese pizza via delivery from Maplewood Pizza tonight and everyone was singing its praises. The sauce is luscious. The cheese to sauce ration was perfect, and the dough (wonderfully thin) was cooked just right. Delivery took just a little over 30 minutes. Delivery guy was polite, efficient, and wished us a terrific night. Thankful to have found a pizza place! read more

The pizza decent but not worth the made up pricing that they have going on. Way to expensive, even with coupons i know Maplewood pizza has lost there mind and any business from me. Stop robbing the neighborhood this is not the cost of business but greed. read more

This place is family-run and has been around forever. A definite Maplewood institution. Delicious pizza! The meatball is the best. I also love the turkey and provolone sub. The turkey is best described as "soft." I know that sounds crazy, but it is really lovely. I never knew I liked my turkey "soft" until I ate it @ Maplewood Pizzeria. Ask them to toast your sub! Fast delivery. Highly recommended. read more

The BEST pizza in the area and as good if not better then old school ny pizza. We moved here from NY five years and have tried everywhere from west orange to Madison. We have found some great brick oven pizza but no good ny style until now. Great pizza. Finally happy to not have to waste anymore money on bad pizza. Highly recommend !!! read more

I arrived early to pick up our pizza last week and realized why the pizza is so inconsistent as other reviewers have noted. The staff behind the counter spends way too much time conversing with one another and not enough time on the pizza. Someone needs to get them organized. We order every Thursday and some weeks the pizza is great and other weeks it is undercooked. One week the onions are cut into perfect small pieces and the next week the onions are in huge inedible chunks. Its on my husband's way home and there's never a problem finding parking, but we will probably give up and return to Roman Gourmet if the quality issues continue. read more

I thought this was a really solid pizza place. Locally owned spot with an old school vibe serving up ny style slices. The pizza is above average thin style pizza. Good cheese, good grease levels on the pepperoni slice. Maybe a little light on the sauce, but it tasted good. I thought the crust was exceptional. Thin with a crispy outer shell and a chewy inside. Very nice. This is some of the better pizza I've found in this area. read more
