Ordered delivery today and it was so unprofessional and rude! Look maplewood pizzeria don't act all bougie when delivering to Irvington. LOL the driver stated no parking and come on I have video surveillance I saw everything. It's the day after Thanksgiving and there was plenty of parking. She pulled into the driveway and shoved the box to my mother and said thanks for nothing and that is exactly why we decided not to tip her because of the unprofessional behavior. But wait it gets better. I called the restaurant and asked to talk to the manager and she mentioned they don't have their own delivery driver and the rely on doordash and Uber to order deliver which is a lie! Ive known this business for years and after today I will no longer support this business and mentioned to others sbout their untruthful behavior. For the delivery driver I believe in karma because how you treated my mother was unacceptable and lied about parking...listen to the directions to ring the bell instead of sitting in your van. We placed 2 orders for future delivery. The first one was delivered a week early and when we called them, they did not offer to rectify the situation until a supervisor had to call back and complain(again) Then we had our second delivery scheduled for a specific time; they did not come at the agreed upon time and they did not call to tell us they were running late; when we called, they said that they were waiting for their driver. Honestly the worst slice I ever had, and I'm not trying to exaggerate. Needed to grab something quick on my break , so I found this place. I ordered a plain slice , and it was beyond greasy. Where do I start with this place... 1) The girl who answered the phone was complete jerk off and couldn't have cared less to take my address down correctly. We have had this place mix our address up not once but twice now. 2) Same girl as noted above hung up and just said thank you, no estimated time for delivery. I had to call back to get that to which she said "at least an hour" interesting...probably something I would mention upfront 3) sure enough, driver went to wrong address in the wrong city 4) the order was incorrect and the pizza was greasy and cut like crap You're rolling the dice if you order from here. 2 stars is for the food and nothing else! So we ordered from here on ubereats - probably my first mistake but whatever. They use their own couriers so ubereats estimated time of arrival between 835/855 (about an hour and 10 minutes/1.30 from time of order placed) and they arrived at 915 - almost 2 full hours (for one small pizza). Again - who knows if that would've been different if I hadn't used ubereats so I'll own that one. The food however.... Honestly, this is not a family of picky eaters - especially when it comes to pizza - personally, I'm of the mind frame that pizza is good even when it's bad - but good lord the OVERKILL of ricotta on this white pizza rendered it essentially inedible. We literally squeezed out whatever excess ricotta we could (and were left with well over a half a cup of EXTRA ricotta) and it was still overpowering to the point that we ended up throwing away well over half the small pizza. Can't say that I'll give this place another shot anytime soon if at all. Really just wanted to warn that even as ricotta lovers, we were sincerely disappointed in the white pizza and would warn against ordering it vehemently. read more

I reached out to the owners to see if they could do something special for my birthday and even brought up the idea of making a birthday cake out of pizza. It was nothing less than AMAZING. Maplewood Pizza has been going strong for 30 years now. No one probably appreciates them as much as the hungry students from Columbia HS right across the street, but I have come to admire them for what they are and I'm a fan, too. This is not a fancy pants, artisan, best-pizza-list-ranking kind of spot. This is a tried and true pizzeria that kicks it old school, and makes a really good slice. Reminds me of the stuff I grew up on, which is basically the NY-style thin crust variety. So far, I've tried their regular, pepperoni, sausage and white slices. All were really satisfying, with a nice crust, savory sauce, and excellent proportions of cheese and toppings. They are also a full service Italian restaurant, offering salads, sandwiches, pastas, seafood and other various entree selections. They do catering as well, which I have enjoyed at some local gatherings around town. Overall, this is just a solid place. I came here randomly late one night right before closing and had them warm up the last 2 plain slices they had sitting in the case. I didn't think it was going to be any good based on the fact that it was dead inside and the pizza had probably been sitting there for a long time. Unfortunately I can't recommend this establishment. The pizza was extremely greasy and not edible. Also the salad was prepared horribly. I had to return it and they still messed it up. Then the 3rd salad was still wrong and they removed stuff I asked for but gave me the same salad without changing it. It was missing tomatoes to boot becausethey handed me back the SAME SALAD. Then after the 3rd salad the girl screams at me "here" with an attitude and a loud voice. I do not recommend this place at all. I'm updating my review. MP has continued to decline over the past year, now by my accounting a three-years-long slide into mediocrity, or worse. Reminding, my last delivered pizza was not only a liquid ooze in the middle, unable to be scraped off the cardboard box, as-if baked in a Suzy Homemaker Oven, it wasn't even sliced. MP has a great business location, an easy in/out by car, since not downtown, and right across the street from the high school. They seem to have adopted a business model that HS kids can be worked over so much that nothing else matters. MP are easily the worst pizza place in the SO/MW area. read more

Super bummed to have to give so few stars to a place I initially loved so much (see glowing Dave B. review by my hubs), but they've seriously dropped the ball every time I've ordered from them since then. 9 times out of 10 they have run out of my beloved whole wheat crust -- the main reason I go there at all -- and they even have sent me on my way with a half burnt pie. They're also oddly inaccurate in their time estimates. Inevitably we have to wait 10 minutes or more after the 20 minute time they quote. Last time they were just putting our pie in the oven when we walked in 20 minutes after ordering -- and it was clearly a slow night. I adore their whole wheat crust, but might have to stop going there since they so rarely have it, and when they do it's either burnt or seriously delayed. read more

We are new to town. We tried Roman Gourmet and it was just okay. We ordered a large cheese pizza via delivery from Maplewood Pizza tonight and everyone was singing its praises. The sauce is luscious. The cheese to sauce ration was perfect, and the dough (wonderfully thin) was cooked just right. Delivery took just a little over 30 minutes. Im giving this place 2 stars because I've had their pizza and it was pretty good, however, I had a terrible experience. I went in a little after 3pm on a Friday afternoon, place was empty besides two people who were already eating, as I approach the girl behind the counter I'm barely greeted but I order my small fries to go anyway. Girl takes my money, again, barely a thank you. Fine, lack of customer service aside, I sit down to wait for my fries. I am thinking 5-10 minutes at most since there's no one in there and I don't hear their phone ringing to think phone orders have them busy. As I wait, I see the same girl who took my order and handled my cash go over to where other workers are weighing pizza dough and starts handling that same dough without having washed her hands nor putting gloves on. How unsanitary!! She's playing with the dough as if she were playing with clay (never worked in a pizzeria don't know if this is ok) but then another set of customers come in, she takes their order - with dough still in her hands - takes their cash and goes right back to playing with that dough like nothing. I was disgusted. To make matters worse, after 15 minutes of waiting for small fries, I go up and ask about them and they had just been sitting there! She looked at me like it was nothing. I get to my car and go to eat one, they were almost like shoestring fries and extremely oily. Needless to say, I will never go into this establishment again. read more

This place is family-run and has been around forever. A definite Maplewood institution. Delicious pizza! The meatball is the best. I also love the turkey and provolone sub. The turkey is best described as "soft." I know that sounds crazy, but it is really lovely. I never knew I liked my turkey "soft" until I ate it @ Maplewood Pizzeria. Ask them to toast your sub!
