Excellent Food! Great service, when available (meaning, if they were appropriately staffed). But the management is the problem. So very poorly mismanaged! When a customer has an issue with something and addresses that issue with the wait staff and the staff member can't help you and gets the manager and the manager starts arguing with the customer at the table with their out of town guest sitting across the table looking shocked . She created an embarrassing (for herself) moment and totally ruined the evening for us and our guests. I'd rather tell this story and never go back than let bad managers go unnoticed. read more

Fast service and great staff. But, for a Saturday morning and 3 quarter full it was really loud and music so loud that the staff cant hear the order. Staff was doing silverware sorting and placement to the table for 20 minutes. Extreming loud and just rude next to the tables. Food bland drinks was spot on. read more

First time visitors while staying at The Grand. Seated immediately in the midafternoon on a weekday. Sat outside as we requested. Nice views, both sun and shaded seating. Attractive decor inside and out. Great friendly service by female staff, I think her name was Selena. She explained about the loyalty program that was helpful as we are new to the area. We just came in for Happy Hour cocktail and snack to check the place out. Enjoyed the Totchos (nachos made with Tator tots). Large portion. My husband's cocktail was solid and I enjoyed house wine. Second trip there and nobody in my party could eat their food this place can close any time now. The deviled eggs were so bad I could hardly even eat them. Tastes like salt and vinegar. and the gravy on the overcooked country fried steak was out of a can. It wasn't even properly heated. It was still gelatinous. And when they say "seasonal vegetables", they mean boiled squash, which was disgusting. A little bit of seasoning would help something that tremendously. But no. And frankly there is no excuse for this. This is restaurant is owned by a larger restaurant group that is very successful in the Phoenix valley so why this ugly redhead stepchild of a beast exists? who knows. Server was nice. read more

Ate at the bar. It feels like you are sitting under flood lights! A dimmer switch would have been a good touch. I ordered the Filet Mignon. Steak was cooked properly. The Bernaise sauce was terrible! It has a sort of soapy taste. Got one scoop of mashed potatoes, just ok. The description of brussels sprouts was that they are served with chèvre cheese, bacon and a balsamic vinegar. Met a friend for lunch on a busy Friday afternoon. Made a reservation weeks ago and it was good that I did! We sat inside and they opened the doors to allow the afternoon breeze. Patio seating is also an option. This establishment is in the active retirement community of Sun City Grand (aka The Grand). It recently opened and was very busy hosting the 70+ crowd. Dana greeted us right away, let us catch up before ordering and was very attentive throughout our visit. The food came out quick, hot and beautifully prepared. The fish tacos were great! Flavorful, moist and the perfect size for lunch. The tots could have been crispier but the delicious ranch & spicy aïoli dipping sauce made up for it. It's a fairly regular restaurant for us and we've almost always been very satisfied. This morning was no different. There's a great variety of offerings and breakfast is available until 3 PM. The blacked fish tacos were excellent and they offer a meal with 2 or 3 tacos. The tortillas are loaded with blackened fish as well as other veggies and the sauce is excellent. Our server, Cassandra was great. Prompt and correct with the order. There was also a special advertised for AZ restaurant week and when we inquired she got the hours it was available. Unfortunately not Sunday morning so it remains for our next visit. She was very friendly and personable. I recommend it, especially for breakfast and/or lunch. It was a great day for patio dining with the misters going and a great view of the golf course. read more

3rd Trip to Maple & Rye. We wanted to try breakfast this week as well. It didn't disappoint. We and so many residents in the area are so happy to have a new, fresh place to go for meals any time of day. Again, headed over in our golf cart for a 945AM reservation for 2. Our server was Sabi and we were very impressed. Sabi took care of all our needs and even if with a slight glitch, was able to get the correct meal very fast. My suggestion for the restaurant, if someone orders hot tea, have a small pot of hot water near by to make a second cup of tea. We aren't coffee drinkers, so we like to make 2 cups out of one tea bag. Bonus, provide 2 tea bags per order. That would go a long way to. A customer who loves tea!! Today we started with the donut holes. Very nice treat and shareable for 4! Just the right amount of glaze, but even a little extra brought on the side. Suggestion - make sure to serve with small plates. This is a sticky and drippy dish. For meals, we had the biscuit and gravy. I had it with breakfast potatoes and egg whites with cheddar cheese. Biscuit was large and love the homemade taste! Gravy was also a nice treat, not too salty and actually flavorful. And I was a big fan of the potatoes. I'll be back for more!! The build your own omelette included cheddar, bacon and ham as an add on protein. Hash browns were perfect. Sourdough could have used more butter, but overall a nice complement to the meal. We are very happy with this place. We have tried all 3 meals and some were bigger hits than others, but overall, great to have a beautiful new place to hang out and enjoy a wonderful view. read more

Food was a low Okay. Service was horrible, not the waitress fault. We waited over an hour just for the French Dip. We asked the waitress why it took so long. She was very apologetic and said that the cooks were just taking their time. This is poor management! The manager should let the cooks know that just because they have to be there, patrons do have jobs to go to or appointments. Ambiance was ok.
