I'm not kidding when I say I come here probably every time I come to town. I purchase and "ration" my meat just so I know to pick it up the next time I come. Today was no different. I popped in to order skirt, steak and bone and chicken breast. I wish I knew her name but she's like the cutest and nicest employee there. They all are in general. But she has dark hair very bubbly personality. I'm telling you I get the same thing every single time they're super friendly and helpful. Great sanitation. Great product. The skirt steak is phenomenal. Everything is always well packed for me to travel. I usually pop it in the freezer at my family's home and then take it home and a cooler. I will never go here again, let me say this first. The lady that helped me was from Tennessee. She was an absolute sweetheart. She helped me in many ways. Gave me great ideas. She was knowledgeable on all the meat products. I wanna say thank you to her. However, while I was communicating with her about my purchase, I assume she was possibly the manager or the owner. She was an old lady lol, with white well behaved hair. She looked at me like I didn't belong there, she walked to the clerk that was helping me and whispered I'm sure something negative about me being there. I was loud and clear when I spoke and said hello. The look was very nasty with no response from her. I continued speaking with my clerk, I look up, some younger dude walked up to the clerk and whispered something again. Again, I spoke to him, he didn't say a word either. Their behavior was absolutely ignorant. I still made my $200 purchase, only because my clerk was very pleasant. I will never step foot in there again. I will say, it's sad that there doors are open. I've been here many times because it's hard to find a reputable butcher that can also source fresh seafood. I'm originally from Pennsylvania Dutch country, where they process everything right there on the farm. You get used to that taste and quality. When you move to the desert, those luxuries are hard to find. Are they more expensive? Of course they are. You get what you pay for. I'm also a seafood addict and somewhat of a connoisseur of sushi and you HAVE to have the freshest and highest quality fish for sushi. There's no sauce or additional ingredients to mask inferior quality fish. Well Butcher Bob's has it all. If you care about taste and quality meats and seafood, go here. Wow.. just wow. I came in and was in a line behind probably 50 people. A buddy of mine recommended them, so I figured might as well wait, and it was worth it! I forgot that Yelp can't share a video, but I took a video of the meats and they are all very red and fresh looking. They were super busy, but we told the lady it was our first time and she gave us all the attention in the world and acted like she was making a new friend. She gave us a magnet and a reusable bag and welcomed us to look at the meat display. We ended up getting some filet meat and some chicken sausages, and chorizo. They have a huge display of frozen meats. We got the chorizo and it tasted amazing. The filet was rather pricey at 29$ a lbs, but it was Christmas, so we took the leap and it was well worth it! I will definitely be back to try some of the different meats they offer. I really want to try their ribeye meat, it looked amazing! read more

Idk why I have bad luck. I got a New York strip. Cook it up with pepper added salt after but the meat had hardly no flavor? It was tender and was marbled really nice. Service is too notch here. Large orders? Please call ahead so they can confirm inventory, and kindly get it ready for you before picking up. Closed on Sunday and Mondays. Busy, but they move fast. This is not my first review of butcher Bob's, but it is for their steaks. I came in tonight for a special steak for my wife and I to share. Our "steak specialist" pointed out the ribeye prime. That's the only one I've ever bought in store or at a restaurant as it's my favorite cut. I brought home and seasoned with kosher salt and pan seared it with butter, fresh garlic and rosemary. I also sautéed some mushrooms in butter. Along with a baked potato and salad, we had a meal fit for a king! Making it at home, it was the best quality for a fraction of the price of eating out these days. Not to mention the adult beverages we enjoyed with our meal. read more

We visited Butcher Bob's on a busy day, and the market had a great atmosphere. The customer service was excellent -- the staff was friendly, helpful, and worked hard to keep up with the crowd. That said, we had serious concerns about hygiene. Several employees were handling raw meat with bare hands, which wouldn't be a problem if they were consistently washing their hands between customers. Unfortunately, we watched multiple staff members grab meat, then ring up customers, handle cash, and go right back to the meat without washing their hands or using gloves. This was disappointing and made us question the overall food safety standards. It's unfortunate, because we would love to support small business owners in our neighborhood -- but due to these concerns, we probably won't return unless we see changes in how food safety is handled. read more

After saving my pennies, I was finally able to obtain a Rectec Grill!! Yay!! That meant I was now on the hunt for a locally-owned butcher shop to support! After a quick search on Yelp, the closest one in my vicinity is Butcher Bob's in Surprise. They're located on Bell Road kind of on the cusp of Surprise and Sun City West. Super convenient location! There are a lot of stores in this shopping area so depending upon how busy it is, the parking lot could be a little busy. The entrance way and entire butcher shop is incredibly clean and sanitary. Anything carnivorous you could want or need can probably be found here. My wife and I were greeted immediately when we walked in. I didn't have to ring any bell. I didn't have to pretend like I was looking for something. I didn't have to look for anyone in the back. Our needs were tended to immediately. Needless to say, they care about customer service here and it shows. I ended up with a 9.1 lb. pork butt which will be the first chunk 'o meat that I'll be smoking on my new Rectec! The amount of marbling in it is pretty special and the 'money muscle' is large and pronounced. It's obvious the quality of meat here isn't something you're going to find lying around at Safeway or Fry's. I'm excited to get up at the ass crack of dawn tomorrow morning to start my first smoke courtesy of Butcher Bob's! You like meat. Who doesn't? You're a carnivore. I know. We've been eating that gray meat chock full of antibiotics and God-knows-what from the supermarket. Now is the perfect time to support a local business and learn more about what an awesome chunk of meat is supposed to look like. I wanted to make some sausage pizzas, yet didn't want to drive down to my regular sausage spot downtown, so I decided to give Butcher Bob's a try. I walked in and was helped by an older man who was not the friendliest. I asked him a question about sausages and he shook his head no, and looked at me as if I had asked "Do you sell garden hoses?". This was my first time here, so I had no idea what kind of sausages they sold. I usually go with a "Sicilian blend" which is hot/sweet mixed from my usual spot, but I guess they don't do that here. I decided to go with one mild Italian sausage, and one hot, and then mix them myself at home. Total for 2 large links was just over $7.00. The sausage was a bit more "mushy" than what I prefer, but it still cooked up nicely and was pretty tasty on top of my pizzas. 4 stars for the sausages alone. Pair that with the grumpy attitude of the guy behind the counter though, it made this trip just OK. Not sure I will be back. Would rather drive the extra 30 minutes to get my sausages from my usual spot. read more

While more expensive then your typical grocery store meats, the quality is good enough to choose over cost. At least for us. Apparently others agree with us as there is only a small line to get in.
