Daily Special. 3/28/2026 - Maple & Rye in Surprise, AZ.

Saturday, 3/28/2026 - we ate at Maple & Rye. Address is 15955 W Clearview Blvd, Surprise, AZ 85374. Our first time here. Place was very nice, looked clean, staffs were nice, water tasted good, foods good, lots of parking. I liked this place. Golf area view was very pretty.

Got my Bananas Foster French Toast, it is delicious(I did ask for no nuts and there was a couple of nuts which I removed). So excited! Also got the French Dip, very flavorful, tender and fries were crisp to perfection. Great job chef! Love the outdoor seating, the golf course view with fountain and the fact I can bring my dogs. Hostess and servers were all very friendly, no wait at 10:15 Wednesday morning.

We're visiting Surprise, AZ, for the month and have experienced our fair share of chain restaurants, so finding Maple & Rye was refreshing. We've eaten here a few times (all have been pleasant experiences) and recently tried their breakfast and lunch menus. The Rueben was delicious -- loaded with meat and delish sauce and bread choice on point. My husband ordered the country fried steak & eggs and it was also really good (and for someone who this isn't their go-to dish, it surprised me!). The biscuit was light and fluffy, well seasoned gravy and crispy potatoes. Our server was attentive and their patio is a great place to watch golfers.

I'm not a lobster fan but they have so many options besides that, including shrimp, other seafood, salads, bowls and burritos. They offered discounted salads last year and I loved supporting them, so I'm glad they brought them back. I came at a great time, around 430, as there was no line. I ordered my favorite: the Asian salad (cucumbers, sweet potatoes, red onions, broccoli) with grilled chicken, half spinach half romaine. I also got their spicy honey ranch salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, fried onions, corn, pepper jack cheese) with falafel, same base. The second salad comes with a ranch packet *and* a spicy honey packet, very generous. I enjoy the mix of flavors and textures of both of these salads. I ate one same day and saved the other for the next day (I've asked for protein on the side to make it easier to heat up). The employee who took my order and gave me my food was friendly. Make sure you have a credit/debit card or phone because no cash is accepted. The only off thing was that I was given forks in my bag, which hasn't happened before. They're big on sustainability and don't have straws, napkins and silverware are available by choice. Such a great deal and it's a filling meal. Definitely recommend Angie's and really hope they open up more locations, especially near me!

When I pulled up to look at the menu it was pretty messed up and half of it missing. I was inside of the process to do much choosing. I pulled a bit further up to see a sign to order and pay on your own. It's basically all self service. There is another menu that actually has the entire option of proteins etc on the wall above the order intercom. Service was okay. The girl taking my order seemed to be annoyed. Once at the window a guy just handed me the bag. The water I asked for was already on the outside counter. The foo was good, but service was much to be desired . Vibe is pretty meh considering the menu board pulling up was in disarray and just a drive thru.

Their clam chowder is the absolute best in the state and since we went to Seattle, acriss state lines too in our opinion. Mom's too. When she was in the hospital after a stroke and refused to eat anything they helped us out with thinning the chowder down a little for her because we were worried it would be too thick. And this was the only thing she regularly ate besides frostys so we were so appreciative of the staff for helping us with that. It's a great memory we reminisce on, now that she has past. But as always love the food and recommend the fish and chips, get your cod grilled or fried both are amazing. Their calamari is amazing too!

I tried to avoid an all fried meal, so had their broiled cod, steamed veggies plate. I didn't want the seafood pasta salad and substituted with hush puppies (oh well so much for not wanting anything fried). The broiled cod was pretty terrible, rubbery and overcooked and tasteless. I really had to try and finish all of my meal. The steamed veggies felt like they were frozen and just steamed up. Hush puppies were solid but then again you can't go wrong with the taste of fried, right? They have a soda fountain here and seltzer water and lemons available. Place was clean and bathrooms were fine. Also, had an outside patio space too. Sadly, I really wanted to like this place, but everything was pretty lackluster here minus the excellent service. I doubt I'll be coming back here, unless I may want some hush puppies...

The waitress was attentive the whole time, bathrooms were clean, and I really appreciated how mindful the staff was with my deaf friend. That always stands out to me. The calamari was okay. I liked it, but my friend said she's definitely had better. I also had to ask for lemon with the calamari. Last time I came with a friend they were completely out of lemons, so I was glad that wasn't an issue this time. I'd probably try something different instead of the calamari next visit though. We got the Pier 88 combo crab boil with the "All of the Above" seasoning in mild. It came out super quick and was very well seasoned. I personally thought it leaned a little salty, but I also saw other tables adding extra salt to their food, so I guess it just depends on your taste. Portions were good and everything tasted delicious. Very kid-friendly spot, pretty loud and lively inside, and honestly a great place for hosting bigger groups, family get-togethers, or even just catching up with a friend over drinks and seafood. We started with the clam chowder, which was extremely watered down and completely lacking in flavor. It tasted more like soup that had been diluted than a proper chowder. We also ordered shrimp with the Pier 88 seasoning, but the spices were barely noticeable--there was almost no seasoning at all, which is pretty disappointing for a place that markets itself around bold flavors. The service was just okay--nothing terrible, but nothing that made up for the food. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the hype, and we won't be returning.

She was so kind, super attentive, and made a point to make eye contact and engage with everyone at the table. It was my dad's birthday, and they brought out a birthday treat for him, which was such a nice, thoughtful touch. However, the check-in process was very uncomfortable. The host who greeted us didn't make eye contact with me at all, a person with a disability. Instead of speaking to me directly, he asked the person I was with if I needed a child's menu. As an adult, being talked about rather than talked to was rude and honestly pretty embarrassing. It would have been much more professional to provide standard menus for everyone or just ask me directly if I needed anything specific. The kitchen definitely knows what they are doing. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious: The bread and butter were warm and a great start. We had the bruschetta and a shrimp appetizer, both were hits. Our table ordered the cheeseburger and fries, the salmon, and two orders of the short ribs. Everyone loved their meal and had zero complaints about the food quality. The restaurant was packed and had a high-energy vibe, but the music was way too loud, it made it a bit hard to talk. The lighting was also a bit strange; it was very dark, and at several points, the lights would flicker or completely turn off and on again, which was a bit distracting. If you want to go on a Sunday evening like we did (6:00 PM), definitely plan ahead! We made our reservation a couple of days before, but by the time our day arrived, they were completely booked. I'd recommend making a reservation at least a week in advance to be safe. I would definitely come back for the food and the excellent waitstaff service, but I really hope management works with their hosting team on how to treat every guest with basic respect and direct communication.
