We were looking for a place to celebrate our 5th Year Wedding anniversary and came upon this place on Yelp. According to other reviews it sounded like this place is willing to do something a little extra to make our day a little more special. Therefore, when my husband made reservations he made sure they knew it was our anniversary. We made reservations for lunch on their large patio area. When we arrived the host wished us a Happy Anniversary and said we could choose to sit at any available table. Looking at the drinks the description of "Full of Emotions" caught my eye - Watermelon Rose and Lychee.. Yum! To me it was just ok but my husband ended up having two so I guess he liked it. We started dinner with an order of Gold Coast Hash. It really was just hash browns with expensive stuff on top. If you share this starter with someone make sure you get the parts with the creme fraiche and caviar! For our plates we split the Crab Omelette and the Burger. This was the first time I had crab in an omelette and I was delightfully surprised that it was good! The burger was juicy and the fries were crispy; exactly the way we like them. We also ordered Banana Bread which my husband inhaled but I savored. At the end of dinner, I embarressingly notified our kind & attentive waitress that I was a little disappointed that we didnt receive anything "special" for our day. She apologized and asked if we wanted a menu. Before I could answer she said she would be right back. Then she returned with a menu with 'Happy Anniversary Charmaine and Chris" on it. Polished crowd. $55 bucks a pop. Our server, Adrian, very kind, and attentive, don't hesitate to ask for anything he notes. Polished himself and informative, he delights us with quite the presentation of the menu. So many stations to choose from. I have a Paloma. It's refreshing, not weak, with pleasant notes of grapefruit. Well balanced. Kale salad. I added peanuts, crumbs, tomatoes. The dressing has a hint of heat, and I was jazzed! Sausage links are mellow and perfectly salted. The casing is gentle and not too chewy, smokiness lingered. Filet... they served two pieces at a time, I chose the beef butter, and it has a wine reduction. MMMhhmmm. Eggs in Purgatory (8 minutes), a bit spicy, made table side, and while I'm snapping a photo, my server folds my napkin when I wasn't paying attention. Love the detail. Or maybe it was magic?? Marketfresh Omelette - big portion, nice omelette chef (engaging), love the goat cheese addition, and a hint of spiciness on that back end. I know people come here for the steak, but my gosh, can we talk about the sushi for a minute? I highly recommend the spicy tuna, hamachi, and king crab rolls if you're with a group and sharing. In a town that has it all, The Patio stands out for its great staff, amazing atmosphere, and flavorful fare! It really started with the staff. From the time we walked in the door the staff was amazing!! Our waiter Dante was absolutely phenomenal. He didn't rush us, gathered our drink order, and checked in at just the right times to allow us to make the most of our experience. We started with the French onion soup and Caesar salad. Both were delicious. The Caesar had a bit of its own flare with a soft boiled egg and fresh grated cheese. Next we had the tuna tartare. Fresh tuna coupled with wontons, sesame, and just the right amount of sauce. Our dinner entrees finished off a great date night in the big city. My family and I visited Chicago for NYE 2024. I was super excited to dine at Maple and Ash (12/30/23). I had a reservation set for 9:30 p.m. We sat at a table near the bar upstairs. Nice surroundings with some Christmas trees and wreaths nearby. We were then greeted by our less than friendly waiter. I regretfully do not remember his name, but it was older gentleman that did not seem very interested to serve us. He brought over some welcome drinks and chips with dip/caviar. Both were good. He then disappeared for quiet awhile, buzzing back and forth serving other tables drinks. When he finally came over, he rushed us to order drinks. We wanted to order a bottle of wine and needed help with a good recommendation. He told us the menu featured some popular ones-not sure how we were to make our selection based off of this statement. After a minute or two of trying to pick one ourselves, he offered to send over the sommelier. Well, you would think this would be helpful, it was NOT. The sommelier was very unfriendly and seemed like he did not care to help us choose a wine. We ended up choosing a bottle ourselves-without his help. Luckily for us, we liked our choice and ended up ordering 2 bottles during our dinner. The service we were receiving was shocking. I would expect more from such an established restaurant. Or waiter never came by to ask us how our food was. Every time we needed something, we would have to pretty much flag him down. Pushing past the service, the food was good. My husband enjoyed the Alaskan King Crab Legs for appetizer. My parents and I had the French onion soup-wasn't our favorite. It was too sweet. For dinner, we had the ribeye, steak frites and the Maple & Ash surf & turf. The sides we chose were brussels sprouts, whipped & buttered potatoes, lobster mac & cheese and Yukon gold potatoes au gratin. Taste wise, everything was fine. Now for the disappointing part, I got FOOD POSIONING later that night. It ruined the next day, especially with it being New Years Eve, as we had plans. I am super super disappointed. It clearly meant something was mishandled and/or prepared incorrectly. This was a HUGE factor for my poor review. Second reason being the terrible service. A couple days after my visit, I received an email from Maple and Ash. It stated "please let us know if there is anything we can adjust prior to your next visit." I emailed them back to let them know about my experience. I received an automated replay saying they will get back to me. Its been 10 days and I conveniently never heard back (a third reason for this review). I probably would not return or recommend as I expected more. P.S. Also requested a customized menu in my reservation. I read online that its usually served with dessert. We paid the bill and the waiter told us bye and we still did not get it. We were asked to go downstairs and were told that could not order food from the main menu as their kitchen for the main menu was upstairs. It was a bday dinner and was totally ruined. Eventually after so much back and forth and wasting 35 mins and spoiling the bday, they said we could order from the menu but they brought different things that we had ordered. We were charged full price for all the things that were brought wrong even the ones we didn't order although we were promised to get everything at a 50 percent because of the inconvenience. First thing the server did was give us a complimentary cocktail which i very much enjoy. He was very attentive and kept checking on us to see if we had any questions about the menu. I ordered the snake wagyu strip with the trussel pureé and can i say i am absolutely in love! The mash that came with that dish was the best ive ever tasted and it went so well dipped in the steak. We also ordered the bone marrow and the dish came out placed so perfect and beautiful. The coconut dessert we had was extremely delicious also and im not even a fan of coconut! Outstanding brunch experience from start to finish. I was blown away at the fact that Maple & Ash is not only a trendy spot to be at, but the food, ambience, and service are high quality as well. The hype is real people! I was here with a group of gals for our annual holiday brunch. From the second I walked in I was impressed. Valet parking, complimentary coach check, an elevator upstairs to the main restaurant, plus the hostess walked me right to my group's table. Service was fabulous! Our drinks were always filled and despite the busy brunch hour, the bottles of champagne were always stocked at our table. That's right - they offer $25 bottomless mimosas and juices. What a steal (especially at a place like this). Their brunch buffet was impressive and for (I believe) $50 you could make all your brunch dreams come true! Seriously, they have so much to offer -- pancakes, sausage, bacon, pastries, yogurt, fruit, omelettes, eggs, sweets, steak, seafood, and more! Our group grazed and sipped for about 4 hours and it was so much fun. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays! Everything I ate was delicious and my favorites were probably the pancakes and my ham and cheese omelette. The seafood platter they delivered to our table was a pleasant surprise as well! It included shrimp, scallops, and mussels. By the time we left our group somehow scored a complimentary bottle of pink champagne and a free brunch as well. Going to lunch here actually ended up ruining my day. This was my second and final time going to Maple and Ash. The first time was my anniversary dinner. I will say our server was nice on this night but they screw over their customers with the Instagram marketing ads, information, and emails. I was told by several of my friends that if I got the seafood tower, I would be getting a pasta back that they dip into the remaining sauce. The anticipation for this excited me because I only heard great things. I also saw many posts via their Instagram stating be prepared for the pasta once you finish the seafood. After we finished, they took away our tray without asking might I add and I immediately asked my server about the pasta back. He began to explain I need to ask for it but now it was too late. I showed him multiple Instagram posts discussing how pasta was given after. Many of my friends have also gone and not one has ever asked but was given the pasta back. Nothing was said or done but rather, "Welp you know for next time" by the server. We spent a lot of money, it would of been nice if they just brought us some pasta. We ordered drinks, bottles, steaks, multiples sides and appetizers, as well as the seafood tower but oh well for next time?! Are You kidding me? Not cool. Clearly some servers are not on the same page as some give the pasta back immediately as their Instagram stated and some say it's a secret menu item though it is posted all over their social media. Today is National Oyster day and yet another ball drop by the media team as well as management. When we first walked in, the hostess was nothing but unfriendly and appeared miserable. We also had reservations but had to stand by the crammed bar for 15 minutes. Once seated, I explained the deal to the server and he stated that he did not believe this deal is allowed on the patio. I showed him the promo and he went to speak with his manager. When he came back he said it was allowed and I stated we would do the 25 dollar deal for 34 oysters. He said just one? I said yeah we are going to split it. Later, we received one shot with an oyster with caviar atop. If you read the picture below, you would believe that you are getting a row of 34 oysters. The server said he would grab the manager. It took a while for the manager to come. Once he did, The manager pretty much said though the ad is written poorly, it is per oyster and the name of the oysters is row of 34 to which he had to ask the kitchen since he did not know himself. If that is so, maybe the name should be capitalized? How am I a customer supposed to know the name of their oysters especially if management Also does not know. The manager then proceeded to do nothing for us. Asked if we got drinks and we said no and he says "Well I hope you enjoyed the one oyster!" WHAT?! They did not compensate the oyster though the marketing was not correct and he was rude and unhelpful and admitted the writing was incorrect. He also made us wait for a long time. Can I also say on multiple occasions we had to tell the Barbacks we were still eating as they tried to remove our plates since we also ordered sides which like I said previously was done on my first experience. I am pissed. Your typos should not have me paying 60 bucks for a meal and me leaving starving when your promo stated 34 oysters. Atleast take away the oyster due to your mistakes. I also cannot even contact management to speak to someone else because contact emails are not left on their website. I am really pissed at how I was treated today. read more

I recently went to Maple & Ash for a holiday brunch with a group of friends and loved it! Let me start by saying, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It took everything in me to not walk around taking pictures of the entire restaurant. In addition, Maple & Ash had decorated for the holidays and had gorgeous wreaths and ornaments all over the restaurant. I would love to host a party in their space. Now onto the food. On Sunday, Maple & Ash does a huge brunch buffet. But this is not your ordinary brunch buffet. Everything was far too luxurious to be considered a mere buffet. They had an omelette station that operated out of the kitchen that made absolutely amazing omelettes (and they even had shots while you waited). There was also a carving station that served filet mignon and salmon. Another station had pancakes hot off the griddle, along with the rest of the breakfast classics. Finally, there was a dessert / pastry station. But it didn't stop there! On top of that, the waiter brought a mini seafood grill platter and agnolotti directly to our table and hot out of the oven. Needless to say, I had a VERY hard time deciding what to eat and left incredibly full. In terms of service our waiter was nice, but nothing special. There were a few times when we had to follow up about drinks, etc., but there were no major hiccups with service. Bottom line, brunch was delicious.
