This review of MAP Brewing Co. is directed at Bozeman locals--if you're a tourist or recent transplant, this place is great and right up your alley. The beer and food are great, as is the service. You'll enjoy the wait list system to find a seat and the restricted seating zones for food service. And the lines. I've patronized this brewery since it opened. After a little hiatus I returned recently and found the place transformed. No longer could I just belly up or grab a free table, or even order a dinner at a peripheral seat--and the staff was adamant about these things. So I drank my one beer and took my money elsewhere. Lots to like about this place. Good beers, great pub food, nice view outside and good service. Strong beer list and not just a bunch of IPAs either. The 80 Chain is a awesome oatmeal stout with solid coffee and chocolate flavors to the malt. The Dark Timber Black IPA has an amazing mix of roasty/toasty flavors balanced with the pine resin of the hops. My favorite food item was the Daniel's Brat: smoked beer brat + apple bacon sauerkraut + mustard with their beer in it. Burgers were great too! read more

Service was horrible. Had to wait for wait service to even acknowledge us. Other tables were served before we were. I guess two older people did not deserve prompt service. Received our food by someone other than the server that just put the food down and did not even ask if we needed something else - we did, forks and napkins. Driving back to Texas and we found this place. Not right off the highway it's back a little bit. Great view from the patio. We had a group of 10 and they got us in fast. Yummm! This was a really great post hike spot. We arrived right as their web check in/waitlist was closed for the day but they kindly added us to the list anyways. We were seated within 5-10min and service was fantastic! The entire crew here just vibed together so nicely and were so helpful, kind and friendly. I glanced over the menu and thought I'd order the Midas Crush but then ended up thinking I'd go a a beer flight route, and asked for a some suggestions. Our server brought me Midas Crush, recommended Strange Cattle (which I would have otherwise skipped right over thinking I wouldn't like - hazy IPA) and Ridge Hippy. The Strange Cattle was sooooo good! I ended up ordering one of these, we shared some nachos and I tried a bit of my friends Oatmeal stout (not bad at all, but for a warm day the Strange Cattle hit just right. This is a great spot, I highly recommend and I'm probably the furthest from a beer girl but they are doing everything right. You'll be hard pressed to have a more enjoyable time in the area. read more

What a great location! The views of the park, lake and mountains are awesome. There is a limited menu on the patio. Waiting is a little awkward- they have a great app with updates, but there aren't many places to actually wait. You can get a brew from the bar though and they have a significant selection for brews on tap. Including a couple of sour beers, which the Hubbs likes. I had a nice wheat. The appetizer list is nice - we opted for the lamb sliders which had a huckleberry sauce. Then I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with slaw and the Hubbs got the smoky cheeseburger with fries. Everything was cooked perfectly, they were generous with the sauces on the side. We shared everything and loved it! Definitely a place to check out again. The servers were super great. Just be aware it can get crazy busy. read more

CUUUTE. Many beer options and flights available. Montana has some weird beer laws so you can't have very many beers in one sitting, but enjoyed this space and view of a cute little pond/lake when sitting outside on the patio with gorgeous views of mountains of course! TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I don't write many reviews, but this place takes the cake as the worst restaurant in many years. Told 20 minutes for a table. Waited 1 hour and 40 minutes. When seated, told they were out of burger buns (all they serve is burgers). Waitress (looks like Ellie from Last of Us) was slow, unprofessional, and uncaring. Halfway through our meal, when we asked for silverware, she came over with a fist full of forks and knives and threw it in the middle of the table. Their fry oil is rancid and the fries come out dripping in grease. Everyone who ate the fries got sick. DO NOT EAT FOOD HERE. read more

We came in with our kids after leaving Costco. Like many kids, they are picky eaters so we got them each a slice of pizza to eat so we could also enjoy a dinner (that wasn't greasy pizza) before driving back home. When we walked in I looked for a sign to see if there were restrictions on bringing in outside food. There were not. We sat down, ordered drinks and food for the adults and the kids ate their slice of pizza. About 40 minutes into our visit, I was tapped on the shoulder. A man with a Map Brewing shirt was behind me and said " just so you know you can't bring outside food in. I let it slide this time but don't do it again", and walked off. I went to go look at the front door and then asked the host at the front, if there was a sign about bringing in outside food. He said no. When the Map employee was nearby again, I asked him if I missed a sign, he said "no, it's assumed that you don't bring food in". I told him that had I known, we wouldn't have, and having a sign up would be helpful. He replied, "I have lots of signs up and no one reads them" to which I said that if there isn't a sign, it's hard to know what is and isn't okay. He told me "you don't have to come back here again", I said okay, we probably won't. He replied "good" and walked off. I understand that some restaurants have rules, and if there had been a rule visible, or if the host had stopped us on the way in, I would have respected that. The rule is not the problem, at all. It's the way it was handled and the way we were treated by who we found out later was the floor manager. I would like to say that the bar tender was so kind and said that she hoped that we would come back. She paid for one of our items, which she did not have to. I am not opposed to rules, but the way we were treated by the Map employee was not a great customer service experience. read more

Highly recommend for the view and beer! Every beer I tried was good, and the venue is great for hanging out and enjoying some drinks/appetizers. We got appetizers and meals, and I would highly recommend the poutine and lamb sliders. We were pretty unimpressed with the main course, the fries were cold and the meat on the burger was way too bloody. We forgot to specify how to cook the burger to our waitress, but didn't expect it to be so rare the middle was cold. My mom got a burger too and hers was the same exact way. It's always interesting to see what else a brewery can offer, other than beer... I learned that Map Brewing makes some fantastic, juicy CHICKEN LOLLIPOPS. These aren't the usual tiny chicken lollipops, these were drumsticks! AND honestly, this chicken was better than some chicken spots! SUPER juicy, perfectly seasoned so you could eat it alone or with your preferred dipping sauce. We tried the "Midas Crush BBQ", "Truffle Tango Chile Sauce", and "Honey Sesame Gochujang" - my favorite was the "Midas Crush BBQ" sauce. We ordered: Smokey Cauliflower Bites - We also thoroughly enjoyed this so much that we ordered another one! It's cauliflower brined in Herb de Provence, dipped in rice flour mixture, fried crispy, and served with a caper & lemon aioli dipping. Rating: 10/10 Chicken Lollipops - I would definitely re-order this. Rating: 10/10 House Spätzle - This tasted like a soft mac n' cheese. It was housemade Spätzle, hopped white cheddar beer cheese, brown butter focaccia bread crumb. Rating: 6/10 The Big MAP - A decent burger. It was smaller than I thought it would be, probably because it was smashed patties. It was 3 Montana grass-fed beef smash patties, pickled corn & bacon pimento cheese, and housemade Danger sauce. I should have asked what was in the "Danger" sauce! Rating: 8.5/10 THE BEER - If you enjoy beer, I would bet they have one you'd enjoy. They have a wide range of beer and I tasted at least 4 different kinds and I appreciated their varying tastes and flavors. I only remember that I particularly enjoyed "Strange Cattle" and "Midas Crush". No surprise that they have won Beer Competitions! Found MAP on Yelp and made this our first lunch in Bozeman. I wanted to sit on the patio which has a great view of the mountains and lake. I was told that only appetizers are served on the patio, odd because if a server is going to carry food out there why cant it be a burger. We sat at the bar and talked with our server Chloe. She was so kind and explained she created the beer Chloe's BS. Tried it and loved it and also tried her second recommendation. We had the Spiced Belgian, and the 80 chain oatmeal stout, which is one of the best stouts I've had. Parking on-site. MAP Brewing Co was one of my favorite places I visited on my recent trip to Bozeman, Montana. In fact, during my short 4-day stay, we came here twice. The beer is that good. The atmosphere doesn't hurt, either. While the weather in Bozeman was starting to get cold (September 28), and no one was really outside, their outdoor patio offers amazing views of the mountains. It was beautiful. If wondering what to order, look no further then one of their Hazy IPAs. I believe the one I fell in love with was called Strange Cattle, one of the best beers I've had in a while. Prices here are very reasonable, and the indoor area offers a warm environment and calm ambiance. The vibes are chill and laid back, no doubt. I believe they serve food, as well, though I actually indulged in some beef jerky that they let me bring in to snack on. Service was very nice and accommodating. I'd highly recommend checking this place out next time you're in the area and craving some good beer. MAP will not disappoint! read more

If you're coming to enjoy a beer (or 3, which is the limit), and sit outside and gaze at the spectacular view, this place is ideal. The Mountain View's are beautiful and the hazy beer is delicious. It's if you want to sit down and eat dinner where things get a bit sticky. One of the hostesses gave us an hour & a half wait estimate, the other said 10 minutes, but then we didn't receive a text to confirm... by the time we sat down our baby was over it (had been there 2 hours with all the back & forth), so we left. While in Bozeman recently we stopped into Map Brewing, and so glad we found this spot. The brewery was filled to the brim, local live music was playing and everyone was so fun and friendly. We started with Poutine, a favorite of ours. The fries were topped with a rich beef gravy, cheese curds and sliced jalapenos. We then shared the pulled pork sliders. The soft slider rolls were filled with tender bbq shredded pork, and a fresh crunchy slaw which added a tangy, acidic balance with a nice crunch. The building sits along the banks of a pond, and the back patio has plenty of seating if you want to be outside, with expansive views of the pond and the stunning mountains surrounding Bozeman. Map Brewing was an excellent find in Bozeman. read more

MAP was a great spot for a late outdoor lunch/beers on a beautiful Montana day. We got there at ~1pm on a Friday and it took us an hour to be seated outside due to the very high demand, but they were efficient once we were seated and we ate pretty quick. The beers were all great, and a group of 5 of us split a ton of appetizers that were all really delicious. I'd definitely recommend MAP to anyone going through Bozeman. They were great about wearing masks, which put us at ease - and the pro tip I wish I'd known: You can sign up for a table online, so you can put your name in before you get there. read more
