We found ourselves with a day and a half to kill in Bozeman after a vacation at Yellowstone, and decided that sampling as much local beer as possible would be an excellent way to utilize that time. After reading several glowing Yelp reviews, we made MAP Brewing our first destination. The brewery is a fairly large space with ample indoor seating. However, the outdoor patio is the real winner here: you have views of a lake with a mountain backdrop. If I lived in Bozeman, I would probably become a regular here just thanks to that view! It does tremendously help that the beer is also fantastic. The Destination Session IPA was a very well-balanced, citrusy IPA that wasn't painfully hoppy like a lot of other IPAs in the business. The Manley Stout was deliciously dark with coffee and chocolate notes. I also sampled a couple of other beers (whose names I don't remember) at the bar before I ordered, and neither of them was bad by any means. Beer prices are also very reasonable at $4 a pint. If you have a hankering for food, Grille 406 serves up some pretty mean bison burgers and poutine to complement your cold ones. Overall, a great place to spend an afternoon! read more

Stopped in this evening to meet up with some family - enjoyed a great beer on the patio looking over the pond at the Bridget Mountains! Had a chicken sandwich, coleslaw, and order of poutine as well. Chicken sandwich was really good- spicy, crunchy, good bread! Cole slaw was ok. The poutine was great....but it would have been nice to have it come out with the meal rather than me having to run down the order which was sitting under the heat lamp for too long. Those Wisconsin cheese curds disappeared into the rich, brown gravy. Enjoyed the beer, the food, and the company! Trifecta of goodness!! read more

The food wasn't the best but it was still enjoyable to have with the beer. I got a veggie burger and I think it was just a Costco patty. We also saw a lot of people with nachos so we got those as well and they were mediocre as well. The outside area is really nice though as it overlooks the lake. This was really fun to visit on a Saturday afternoon. However, they had live music when we visited and it was VERY loud! Granted, the music was awesome. I didn't try any food, but I enjoyed the two different beers that I had - I wish I could remember their names. The inside is beautiful and done well. Since there was live music, the place seemed crowded and it was hard to get a table, but a nice experience overall. I would have loved to spend time on the patio. Decent beers and great views! We're visiting from CA and enjoyed the pint prices ($4-5 compared to a 7 or higher in CA). Some the seasonal styles were misses for us but we did like 80 chain (stout) and quiver killer (pale ale) a bunch. The line was quick and we are used to ordering at a bar. The beer is good and this place is super popular. The deck is awesome but the furniture by the fireplace is gross and makes you feel like you should sanitize not just your hands. I LOVED their process of joining a waitlist for a table on their website. You sign up and you can see on your phone when you are at the top of the list. Pros: Atmosphere (great Mtn views, outdoor seating) live music (often) nice decor, good beer selection. Cons: VERY EXPENSIVE! We got two hamburgers ... $25. $6 for chips and salsa; the same item they give you for FREE at every Mexican restaurant in America. $17 (yes SEVENTEEN) for nachos with meat; literally the MOST EXPENSIVE I've ever experience... ANYWHERE! And this does not include a table waiter or delivery; you do it on your own. Food service is basically a walk-up counter, ... so they can't claim the overhead of staff for their extreme pricing structure. I don't get it, I really don't. Basic items yet the prices of a posh downtown LA eatery. - dogs are welcome which is fine but they need to instill some restrictions. We observed one young guy tie his dog to the railing at the patio and then take a seat in the middle of the patio. This was a big Husky and the dog kept sticking his nose up on the table closest to him and trying to sniff the food of the patrons at that table. UNACCEPTABLE! They definitely need a place or some restrictions to keep the dogs from bothering other patrons. We like going there and would do so multiple times a week in the summer if it weren't for these un-justifiable, exorbitant prices. And I'm a dog person but the first time somebody's dog comes sniffing at my table I'm gonna kick him in the nose. If people can't train their dogs better than that they should not be taking them to a public venue. read more

We were going through Bozeman on a fishing trip and wanted a good local brewery/food spot. We used the waitlist online from the vehicle whilst parking and got seated right away. Alicia (aka The Dancing Waitress) was awesome! All the staff were hustling and very attentive...wearing masks and sanitizing along the way. The beer was tasty. We got the shrimp tacos and Cuban panini. The taste of the fish tacos was incredible but would recommend using flour tortillas as the corn we got fell apart after the first bite. Well, I've found my new favorite brewery in Montana. All the beers are crisp and clean with a tantalizing spice; I'd call it a brewer's signature. The atmosphere is vibrant and festive--on a tuesday night. Live folk music, rustic art and decor, friendly and personable staff. Given how busy it is, I'm impressed with the speed of service. And the appetizers... well, they deserve their own review, but I'm here for the beer primarily so I've got to save room. read more

Such a cool place!!! Great beer, surprisingly good food and friendly and inviting service! I had high expectations for the beer and wasn't sure what to expect for the food. There is a counter where you place your order and pay and then wait for your number to come up. I ordered a burger and it may have been one of the best things I ate the whole trip. Simple but so much flavor!!! The beer menu is what I've come to expect from Montana breweries with some twists and very fun names of the beers. Came here while visiting Bozeman. It is a really pleasant location, the patio has great views of those beautiful Bridger mountains that I grew up loving. Beer is good and tastes great on a hot day. While the food is tasty, the portions are pricey and small. Also their ordering system is strange. Which brings me to my next point..... We walked in and seated ourselves to a table on the patio. There was a menu sitting there so we looked it over and the server arrived and took our beer orders. Then she turned and walked away. She returned about 10 mins later with the beers and turned to leave again when we caught her attention and told her we wanted to order food. She informed us we had to order and pay at the counter. This is fine but it would be nice if they would let you know how things work before you sit down so you don't waste more time waiting. And last but not least, the crowd. Oh dear goodness. It was the middle of the afternoon during the week and I swear every patron was a lazy, ski-bum college kid with nothing to do since it was June. I've never heard so much cursing at a restaurant. They were SOOO casual, some even brought their own food to go with their beer! Very strange. And the dog situation is nuts. In Az we have many dog friendly patios but this takes it to a whole new level, and not in a good way. These are big dogs who like to run down to the pond and come back and shake themselves on all the other diners. Gross! And of course their lazy ski-bum owners just laugh it off. I was reminded yet again why I left Bozeman and why I am grateful to be gone. read more
