My sessions with Rosalyn are always flawless. She starts by checking in to see how I'm feeling and then tailors every massage to address all of those issues and much more. She is consistent and thorough in a way that I've not experienced with other therapists. I always leave my sessions feeling relaxed and loose. The effects of her massages are durable and set me up for weeks of feeling healthy. Meahwhile, the Aiport Blvd. location of Mantis is a great place overall and runs like clockwork. Prompt, friendly service from everyone with no unnecessary waiting. Scheduling and payment are easy and reliable. All of this and frequent discount offers keep me coming back! read more

Holy deep-tissue batman!!! I had some body work done by Kyra (forgive me if I spelled the name incorrectly). I'm a former certified massage therapist myself and I'm pretty picky and loyal to who I use. I had a favorite therapist back in San Diego and just assumed he would be irreplaceable when I moved to austin. I was wrong. This is without a doubt one of the best massages I've ever received. Kyra displays through her massage a deep understanding and caring for her craft. She was able to understand what my body needed and my thresholds within minutes into the massage without me having to say a word. Don't let her petite frame fool you, this chick can bring it!!! read more

This place gets better everytime I go. They truly care for their clients and try to find the best way to help. My most recent therapist was super knowledgeable and full of great suggestions. read more

My experience at Mantis was absolutely fabulous. Mantis came highly recommended to me by many of my friends and I was experiencing some serious neck and shoulder tightness so, although I rarely treat myself to a massage, I decided it was time to give deep tissue a try. My therapist, Valerie, was waiting for me as I walked through the door, addressed me by name and led me to their super charming waiting area. She explained where the facilities were and offered me tea and water as I filled out the necessary first-timer paperwork. The office was beautiful, clean, and homey. Totally unpretentious. I felt immediately at ease. Valerie then escorted me back to an equally charming room where we discussed my issues and made a plan for conquering them through massage therapy. I felt like I was in very good hands as she discussed the benefits I might receive and the areas on which we would focus. The massage was great. I would say the experience ranged from total mind-numbing relaxation to "how-the-F-did-I-screw-myself-up-so-bad" pain (that's a GOOD thing, for the record.) All the while, Valerie checked in to make sure the intensity and pressure were what I wanted. Afterwards, my neck and shoulders felt so much more at ease. I was given a note with some handy self-care prescriptions (epsom salt baths, vitamin c, lots of H20) and some water. After I left, I received a personal message from the manager thanking me for my visit. Later, the owner, Kyra, sent me an email to thank me for my massage with *additional* tips for after-massage care. I will definitely be back again. This place is rad AF. read more

I came in a few months ago, scheduling was easy online. Based on the reviews here, I had high expectations. Unfortunately they were not met. I think the massage I received was myofacial release, some rubbing and pinching of the skin. While the pain wasn't bad during the massage, afterwards I noticed my hand was going numb and a bruise was left under my arm. No big deal except that I was feeling terrible later than night. I'm pretty holistic and prefer to not take medication but I had to take an asprin. I did drink water and consume vitamin C as recommended. The discomfort lasted a week. No real malice, just wanted to share my experience for others to read and be aware of. read more

Taylor did a fantastic job working on my neck and shoulders. Highly recommended!

Kyra rocks! This charming young lady has some strong hands. She just about gave me a short-circuit in my brain when she worked on the back of my neck. Woohoo! This was my first massage at Mantis: it was pretty thorough but the best part was the pressure, which is usually not hard enough for me. Kyra has the power! She also seems to know a lot about anatomy. She observed and informed me about how mangled I am, due to multiple back injuries and motorcycle wrecks. It's good to know I'm not a hypochondriac just imagining these things. I showed up about five minutes before my appointment, got a parking space right in front of their door, and didn't have to wait at all, they set me right up. The space is cool. It smells good and the temperature in the room was perfect -- which are two persnickety things of mine, so I was instantly inclined to trust these people and relax . I recommend Mantis and Kyra one thousand percent. read more

I was visiting Austin from Australia and was in desperate need of a massage after travelling. I rang a place near where I was staying but upon arrival they told me the masseuse was only there on Mondays and Wednesdays. Needless to say I was super annoyed. I rang around half a dozen places trying to get an appointment before coming across Mantis. I made the booking online which was easy to use, and was given a session with Kelsey. I am a massage addict and have one ever 2 weeks on average, and have had massages all over the world including spas in Thailand and Vietnamese bath houses. I can confidently say the massage I received from Kelsey ranks in the top 3 massages I've ever had in my life. I wasn't just a massage, it was a full sensory experience! I wish I could have taken her back with me to Australia. I'll definitely be looking her up when back in Austin. Thank you so much Kelsey!! read more

Massage was really good no complaints there, they applied good pressure and took care of my sore muscles. Service felt rush though. I felt like the therapist was in a rush/bad mood which made the experience less relaxing. Would I go again? Probably but will pick another therapist. read more

As a former University of Texas football player I needed a deep tissue massage asap. Kyra the owner was very professional and did a great job working on tightness in my neck, back muscles and calf muslces. She was able to break down what was going on in my body and as a certified personal trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist I could tell she was very knowledgable and knew her stuff in regards to the musculature. I highly recommend Mantis Massage. I have been given the privilege to get some massages from some of the best in the industry in my years playing at Texas and I have to say Mantis Massage is one of the best spots in town!! read more

Really wonderful massage from Elyse! She really helped ease tension in my back and loosen up tough knots. The studio itself is very welcoming and relaxing and the staff is very friendly. I've already booked another appointment with Elyse! Can't wait! read more

This place was great! I have been looking for a deep tissue massage to help with my back for a long time. I have had chronic pain since hurting my back in Iraq. Most massage therapists only hit the surface of my back problems, but Laura-Ann was the exception. She was very professional, and empathetic towards my issues. She was able to identify all the trouble areas and apply fierce pressure to resolve them. I even felt bad, because I could tell she was working hard to break up the boulder size knots in my back. I would highly recommend Laura-Ann to anyone. As for the establishment, it was clean and peaceful inside. You wouldn't think so from the area it's in, but it is a really nice place. Definitely check this place out. read more

Mantis Massage. Where do I start? This is hands down the most amazing massage place I have ever been to. I get my massage done by Izzy and I can honestly say this amazing individual gives the most perfect massage that there ever was. Izzy gives so much care and precision to every single movement she applies in her massage. I have really never had anyone massage me that cares so much about giving the best of themselves in every minute of the massage. She takes you on a journey. It's not just a planned massage where she has to start here and then take this long there. No. She eases through the massage and does every part with the same care and love. Amazing amazing massage. I could not recommend this place and Izzy more. (: read more

I haven't left a review on yelp that I am aware of, but I felt compelled to write one after the massage I received from Kyra. I have never received a deep tissue massage before this one so I dont have a basis to judge the massage against and I didn't know what to expect going in there. I am glad I checked the reviews here and made the decision to pick this place. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. Kyra is very professional and for a person that size has more strength that I had imagined. She made sure to check and make sure the pressure wasn't too hard. That was the most relaxing hour I have had in years. She is very talented and I could tell by the massage she knew exactly what she is doing. I cant recommend enough. Time went by soo fast and I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks. I will definitely go back the next time I am needing a massage read more

I'm not a regular, consistent massage-getter - I do get massages fairly often (every couple of months), but I don't have a regular appointment with a particular therapist. This is mostly because I haven't really found a great massage therapist since moving to Austin. Mantis Massage is a bit of a conundrum for me in the sense that it's now my go-to massage place, but I've yet to commit to a single therapist. All 3 of my appointments so far have been booked somewhat last-minute, so I haven't had the same therapist any of those times. However, all 3 were great in their own way (as trite as that sounds). My first session was with Abbey, who is very strong and was able to give me the deep tissue pressure I'm always looking for in a massage. Next I had Ash, who hit a spot in my lumbar region that I had never noticed before, and released tension I didn't even know I had. Lastly, I just got back from a 45-minute session with Monica, who is very intuitive in finding knots, and is communicative to help work through trouble areas. For the recipient, massage is mostly passive, but with Monica I feel like I was able to accomplish more meaningful therapy with the communication and cooperation- certain movements and ways to breathe helped me get through some major problem areas that were really bothering me (I booked the appointment just this morning because I woke up with horrible back pain - Monica got the problematic knot knocked out). So, Mantis is a conundrum for me because I'd like to find a singular therapist to continue to work with, but all of the staff I've worked with so far have been great, making this hard too choose. As such, I'm pretty confident you can't go wrong with any of their therapists. Also, the atmosphere is great - not pretentious or disingenuously faux-zen. It's pretty perfect. read more

so noisy! i also booked a 90-minute full-body massage and half my body was never touched, how does that happen?? usually when they ask about areas that might need extra attention, you expect them to spend a *little* more time on it, not the entire time. i could also hear every conversation customers and employees had at the front desk which was really distracting, a phone kept vibrating somewhere, and the music would stop playing every 20 minutes so the massage kept getting interrupted to restart the music. this was my first massage all year, i was really looking forward to it, especially after so many positive reviews but the experience was very disappointing. read more

Kyra the owner is amazing. don't let her size fool you, she is super strong. Also she is the epitome of what i look for in a massage therapist - she knows how to target the areas you need whether you mentioned it or even knew it. I am a breast cancer survior and have had lots of surgery, so i am pretty particular about massage and also have some specific needs. Kyra is actually experienced in this and knew exctly what to do with my issues. 90 minutes of awesomeness and i leave feeling pretty blissed out read more

I got a 60 minute session with Monica. She is absolutely brilliant. I felt pain free the whole day. She treated more muscle tissue than my Airrosti Dr did. I need more work for sure. Absolutely would recommend Monica and I have been talking about her to all my friends. She is absolutely incredible. Two people already expressed interest in going in based on my recommendation. I am looking forward for my next session as I see an improvement in mobility already. Absolutely would recommend her to anyone suffering with pain. Thank you. read more

I don't get regular massages. It's maybe a once or twice a year thing, usually when some thoughtful person gets me a gift certificate. I've been to Mantis twice now, and while the first experience was good... holy cow y'all. I'd been suffering the usual aches and pains of a desk jockey who gets to the gym a few times a week, so a weird conflict of sedentary muscles and stressed muscles, duking it out for ownership of the most painful knots. I opted for a 75 minute custom massage focusing on my neck, shoulders, and especially middle back, including some trigger point therapy. My therapist was Taylor, who spent several minutes asking me about my health and overall fitness, as well as the usual "show me where it hurts" line of questions. You guys. She got so deep into my back. And here's the thing - I almost fell asleep. In fact I actually think I might've, as I'm fairly certain caught myself in a snore. But she was like a hydraulic press going absolutely medieval on some aggressively stubborn knots that I can only assume have been there since the Clinton administration (Whitewater was stressful too, kids). How can something that intense also be relaxing to the point of putting me to sleep? Mysteries of the universe. She also worked my legs and found some particularly nasty knots in my quads I didn't even know were there. That actually hurt, but the immediate endorphin rush let me know good things were happening. The immediate post-massage sensation was of utter relaxation. No soreness. Just lightness. Fast forward to this morning at the gym, and I felt it even more. I had range of motion, looseness, and an absence of pain. I felt I was able to focus more on the exercise than trying to mitigate pain or avoid certain routines because I just don't bend that way anymore. Now I just need to make this a monthly or bi-monthly occurrence, because even after just one session, I can tell the benefits are tangible and actually improve my quality of life. And in my albeit limited experience, Mantis is the best, most complete massage you can get in Austin. read more

I had a great 1 hour massage with Amy. I don't have any particular issues at the moment besides from a bit of lower back pain and some general tension from work/life. It was a very relaxing and comfortable massage without too much small talk, which I appreciate as I find it hard to actually relax and doze off while having conversation. Amy did a great job on both lower and upper back, neck area, legs, feet and arms. I will definitely go back there. read more

Lindsay was absolutely amazing! I've had a couple of massages in the past, but nothing matched up to her skill. I have built up stress and pain all over my body from high school sports and sitting at a desk all day, and Lindsay helped to release years of pain in one session! She also gave me tips after my session on how to relieve some of that stress at home and at work. I plan on coming back to her for monthly maintenance massages from now on. Thanks again!! read more

I came to visit Mantis Massage for a relatively non-traditional reason (health issue, rather than simple relaxation) and Kelsey absolutely put me at ease. I don't get massage a lot, so I can't comment on a lot of the specific techniques, but the most important thing for me at any service provider is that they listen to the customer and empathize with them, and so Kelsey not only made me feel good physically, but I also left feeling soothed emotionally and spiritually. Thank you Kelsey! read more

I scheduled a very short massage, 30 minutes, because it was all that would fit. And it was with someone new...fine because I keep meaning to try out more people since my favorite Kelsey moved. The day before my appointment, I got a message that my therapist was sick. But they were able to re-schedule me with someone else and it turned out to be Kelsey! She had me so relaxed in 30 minutes that I was amazed (but barely awake). Even when she heads home again, I'll keep going back looking for a new favorite. The scheduling is just so easy and they consistently meet my ridiculous ideas of when to get a massage (Early morning Sunday? After work Tuesday? Sure). Appointments are on time and the space is clean and unfussy. The level of advanced training has been high so I feel confident that a new favorite won't be hard to find. Highly recommended for people who prefer deeper pressure. read more

Yelp led me to Mantis and did not disappoint. My 60 minute relaxation massage was AWESOME!! Kyra was very communicative and proved to be very knowledgeable in her practice. I highly recommend them and can't wait to return. read more

Kyra was f-ing amazing!!! She really knows her stuff. Highly educated and effective and even helped me with techniques to prevent pain and heal at home! I threw out my back somehow and made an appointment with Mantis Massage because they were recommended by a friend. There was an appointment available with Linda on the day I made the reservation. The online portal was easy to use, the facility was nice and calming! They even have coloring books, tea, and water at the waiting area! The massage room was nice, with perfectly dim lighting, soothing music, and had a heated table! But the best part was the massage. Linda was FANTASTIC! She got rid of my knots and balanced the deep massage work with relaxing and soothing work so perfectly. I cannot wait for my next appointment. read more

I had an appointment yesterday and the experience could not have been better! I'd never had a massage before so I was a little nervous, but Kyra made me feel incredibly comfortable and at ease. She had to start a bit late, it could not have been more than 10 minutes, but she assured me I would still get the full 60 minutes and she even gave me nearly half off her already beyond reasonable price because of the delay! So awesome. Like others have said, Kyra is a tiny little thing, but appearances can be deceiving - this lady is STRONG. Keep in mind, this isn't a spa - if you're looking for face masks and cucumber water, Mantis Massage probably isn't what you want. But if you're just looking for a straight up therapeutic massage to heal and realign your achey muscles (and advice on how to prevent them in the future), definitely make an appointment. read more

I usually don't write reviews, but this place was something else. I went in for a Swedish massage, but the massage therapist I booked with, Rosalyn, decided that I needed a deep tissue massage. She spent 50 minutes giving me a deep tissue massage, even though I honestly didn't think I needed one. Now I have pain in my shoulders and back, and I didn't have any before. I went in for a relaxing massage and now I am in serious pain. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

After suffering from a headache/borderline migraine for three days, I searched "massage" on Yelp with bleary eyes and found Mantis -- thank God for that. I love that this place is so close to my house. I had been going to Oak Haven Massage, but they keep raising their prices and it's about an hour drive for me. I would definitely recommend Mantis Massage! I don't frequently get massages. They usually make me feel really uncomfortable. But Kylee was very professional and easy to talk to. When I told her that I usually feel awkward during massages she put me at ease and made me feel super comfortable. Kylee was great! Worked on my shoulders and helped tons with my shinsplints! Went ahead a bought 3 pack massage deal for the future!

I have been to Mantis a number of times and have had multiple therapists there work on me. I have never been disappointed. Ever. Their prices are at or below market value. Kyra runs a good show there. I own a fitness studio up the road on Airport and always refer my clients to Mantis Massage when they need some massage work done. I wouldn't make such a recommendation to my clients if I didn't have full faith in the therapists at Mantis. read more

I scheduled my Sunday appointment the day before with Mauro. Their availability on short notice was the 1st thing that made me happy because I was dealing with a crossfit injury. Mauro did a fantastic job of ironing out my shoulder, trapezius and tricep. So for a good hour I asked him to focus on those areas, and I can't say enough good things about my experience with him or Mantis. I will definitely go again when and if I need an adjustment. Pricing was great. I was able to use a coupon for my visit and that was a big plus. Mantis thank you so much! read more

I had an excellent experience at Mantis this past week. Laura, my massage therapist really strives to make each customer's experience unique. So happy, restful and relaxed afterward. Excellent experience! read more

I don't usually write reviews, so this will be short and sweet. What a wonderful experience! Best things about my experience at Mantis Massage: -My masseuse was extremely attentive. She made me feel very comfortable giving feedback, something that can be difficult to do in those settings/ -The music was great! THis cannot be understated. As someone who is unsettled by normal Spa Music, I was very impressed by the great playlist. Overall a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone! read more
