Vibe

This place is really cute and has so much seating for groups or for individuals. I really like how their menu is broad enough for everyone to have something. The ube chai was delicious and I will definitely be coming back for another one. The vibe is very homey and lowkey which I also really appreciated. I would love to try some of the food next time as well!

Ordered from here and loved it! I had silog w longanisa and spam. Also had excellent lumpia. Can't say anything about the interior since I ordered delivery, but the food came quick and hot! I'd like to try going in to get more food!

ASH & JESSE'S COFFEE CRAWL '25 Ranked #6 out of 15 We came into Mano Modern Cafe right after we visted Standing Passengers, another nearby coffee shop. The walk was absolutely beautiful, Chicago never ceases to surprise me. If I am being completely honest, the first interaction with the cashier was not the greatest. A bit standoffish and seemed annoyed, even rolling his eyes at one point. I tend to give everyone grace so we still ended up ordering. We ordered a Mango Matcha & a Pandan Latte, as well as a longaniza breakfast wrap. The Mango Matcha was so good. Everything I want in a mango matcha. Usually people do a mango purée at the bottom which I love too but this was different. Almost like a mango smoothie or milk. Remind me almost of the cuban mango smoothies I grew up with. 10/10. The pandan latte was okay-- not sweet, only slightly nutty, and kinda watered down? The wrap was good and the sauce they add is a good touch but insanely small for the price point? I ended up engaging in more conversation with the cashier and supposedly they had a busy day and he was tired and ready to go home. He genuinely seems like a sweet guy, maybe just caught him at a bad time when we first came in.

Ube latte, ube chai and mango refresher

Good as usual, however hot ube matcha could be warmer and the iced ube chai could have less ice. The lumpia started to get devoured before I could get a pic.

Talk about a quaint spot, this would be it! Corner coffee shop that serves Filipino food and coffee drinks, amongst other items. Watch your step when you enter. You then head up a few more steps to order your drinks and food. We ate and drank there so all the items were brought to us. Food was so flavorful. Haven't had Lechon and Longaniza in some time. And with rice and egg, my mouth still waters thinking of it. Service was quite fast for coffee and food. Lattes were ok. We did the ube and pandan. Could have had a bit more flavor on both. Matcha is good! Would recommend it. Aesthetically cute!

Mano Modern is the kind of place you stumble into once and immediately add to your regular rotation. From the perfectly crafted pandan lattes to the relaxed atmosphere, it's the perfect place to work for hours or socialize. They make pandan and ube syrups in-house so those flavors can shine in every cup. The matcha is high quality too. Every drink is crafted with care and consistently smooth without going overboard. The rice bowls are stars in themselves too - fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced. From hearty breakfast sandwiches to the vegan chorizo bowls, Mano Modern really captures that savory-sweet flavor combo ubiquitous in Filipino cuisine. The staff is friendly and efficient, while vibes remain lowkey and relaxed. Whether you're posting up with a laptop or catching up with friends, Mano Modern is THE spot.

paid for longanisa pan de slider but didn't get any longanisa

i'll start off by saying the person at the register was very nice and patient with my various questions. however, that wasn't enough to earn a stellar review IMO. i so wanted to love this place. i'm all about supporting local, especially kababayan, but the spotlight is always the food and for me, the food was mid at best. i ordered the longanisa pan de slider but requested no cheese and light sauce. well, they honored my requests but forgot the longanisa! how was the main ingredient forgotten? i usually follow the "trust but verify" motto but i had a to-go order and was in a rush. i also ordered the lechon kawali rice bowl. i didn't want the lechon to get soggy on my drive home so i requested the sauce and pickled veggies on the side. the lechon pieces were tiny and under seasoned. definitely needed the accompaniments but i've had flavorful lechon from other places that could stand alone. maybe my expectations were too high but my hubby agreed and he's not necessarily a picky eater. i will say the lumpia was great. it's kinda hard to mess up lumpia shanghai. the kiddos ate them without issue. lastly, i ordered the iced coffee with pandan syrup and heavy cream and light ice. it was on the bitter side so the person was kinda to give me extra pumps of pandan to give it more sweetness. alas, it still was off. i'm going to finish it since it's a $5 coffee and i hate waste.

Quick pick me up spot. This is solely on the drink options. It failed to wow me. Pandan & ube was too light in taste where I can't taste if. Sister in law got the white rabbit when it was in season and same effect, there were no affect. All I tasted was milk in my latte so sad. My husband asked if I got water. The dessert was pretty tasty but so small and pricy.

Stopped by Mano Modern Cafe and split a few dishes with a friend--everything was delicious! We had the longanisa breakfast sandwich, longanisa bowl, and hashbrown, plus I ordered an iced ube latte to drink. The breakfast sandwich was the standout--savory, satisfying, and perfectly balanced. The ube latte was also a hit--smooth, not overly sweet, and just the right amount of ube flavor. The longanisa bowl was solid, but there was a bit too much rice compared to the meat. Still tasty, just could use a better ratio. The hashbrown was crispy and satisfying--no complaints there. Overall, great flavors, friendly vibes, and definitely worth a return trip. I'd come back just for that sandwich and latte combo alone.

Love the beef patty with egg and garlic rice with gravy, such good comfort meal. I can have this every morning. Very nice staff and spacious place.

This spot has been on my radar for awhile and I stopped in on a Sunday morning for a coffee and a quick brunch. I wasn't aware at how much food they had but was pleasantly surprised at the wide variety of offerings! It was pretty packed when I arrived. I loved the space and thought the upcycled jars as planters were SO cute. I got to try the White Rabbit latte which was a Spring special on their menu. While it was a good latte, I didn't taste anything like the White Rabbit candy. It was just a plain vanilla latte in my opinion. The silog bowls were SO good! I love that they offer so many variations of it. I went with the Longanisa and Tocino Bacon and it was delicious and fulfilling. I also tried the lumpia and they weren't bad! I'm super intrigued with their other offerings like breakfast sandwiches, rice bowls, and burgers, so I'm already thinking about what I'm getting next!

Coming back with another review now that I've tried the food. Their breakfast is so good y'all. They have breakfast rice bowls called Silog and I get the burger steak with gravy (like a Loco Moco!) and I've been trying g to recreate it at home but it's not worth it because honestly their prices are very reasonable for the area. The garlic rice (SWOON ITS SO GARLICKY) underneath the burger patty with a yummy fried egg and coconut gravy. I could die happy..after a nap! Oh and the hash brown? Hang it up McDonald's. There's a new hangover helper in town. And they have Lumpia so you should always be getting lumpia no matter what I feel like that goes without saying right? Y'all are getting lumpia whenever they become available take to you, right?? Just checking My next review will be for the sweets- they have some really good looking stuff on the menu but it sells out! So happy to have Mano in the neighborhood - Y'all are missing out if you haven't been! Service has also been faster since the first review I left, and I see that reflected in other reviews as well. Yay!

what a cute spot! Loved seeing the decor on the walls and the use of space inside! Parking wasn't too bad either which is a plus! We came in for breakfast to try their silica, which were good, but for the spam I wish they fried it for longer to make it more crispy but that's also my personal preference. I did enjoy the candied bacon and the pan de slider. The drinks were well made and I loved the juice! Would come here again

Moody, fine dining Filipino restaurant in ravenswood/north center Chicago…read more The experience of this place really starts when you enter the restaurant. I was a big fan of the interior. Dark moody lighting with warm colored lamps really sets the tone for the meal you are about to eat. Service was incredibly kind and attentive. Everyone's so lovely. The food is exactly what you'd expect - elevated Filipino and overall INCREDIBLE. Here's what we got/my thoughts. Coco ginger daiquiri - 5/5 - really refreshing. You could taste each component of the drink which was fun to experience. Sisig - 4/5 - I'll start by saying I'm really particular about my sisig. For sisig to be a 5 for me, it *has* to be crunchy. And that's the only thing this sisig was missing. For coming out on a sizzling plate, it was a little too wet, even after the sizzling. Despite this though, the flavors were there and they were delicious. Garlic rice - 5/5 - best garlic rice I've ever had in my life. Just get it. That's all I have to say. Pancit canton - 4/5 - if I'm being honest, it's hard to really elevate pancit canton. But this was a good attempt, it just seemed to be missing something to put it over the top. Really appreciated the fresh vegetables with the noodles. Lumpia - 5/5 - like pancit canton, it seems hard to elevate lumpia but they freaking did it. This was so good. The filling was nice and juicy and had great flavor. Kare Kare - 5/5 - Kare Kare was my favorite dish growing up but I've never experienced it elevated to such a high level until boonies. The meat was so tender, cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The vegetables being carmelized was also quite the treat. Didn't realize until after the fact that the sauce isn't made with peanuts, so huge plus that gives our peanut allergic friends the opportunity to experience such an amazing dish. So well done.

This was a great, cozy spot to try a different take on Filipino food. Being a Filipina myself, I'm…read moretorn between labeling it because I feel like some of the dishes are more Filipino-inspired while others are definitely elevated-Filipino. Either way, it's a good place to try a twist on your favorites or dip into something new. I especially appreciated that there were a lot of vegetarian options which is hard to find in Filipino food, like our "veggie" lumpia usually has small bits of meat in it, lol. We were warmly welcomed, seated relatively quickly, and the service was attentive and timely. The place is cozy and on the dark side so my pics aren't the greatest. We had the Inihaw ng Talong which is basically grilled eggplant that came brushed with sunflower butter, loaded with tomatoes and garnished with cilantro. This was a nice start but a small one. The eggplant was smoky and creamy and complimented by the bright tomatoes. The Satti Manok, skewered grilled chicken, with cornbread sticky rice was good, but I've definitely had better for a lot less. This is usually a staple you'll find at any Filipino family's BBQ but the cornbread sticky rice was a surprisingly nice treat. If you've had this before, somewhere else, I'd skip it to try something else. The Sinigang Caesar was such a nice twist that totally made sense! My only complaint is that it was served with Bibb lettuce instead of a crunchy romaine. I enjoyed this so much I've been making my Caesar dressings with a sprinkling of Sinigang powder now and my family loves it. The Kare Kare gulay was nice and I enjoyed it. The charred cabbage gave it some extra depth that I think is needed to pull this off because this sauce is made with sunflower butter instead of peanut butter. This was great for me because I'm allergic to peanuts but it definitely changes the flavor, making it a little sweeter and lighter. I wish they would've made this with cashew or almond butter to keep it closer to the rich, deep flavors of a Kare Kare. The Maitake mushrooms -- I absolutely loved. I've never had this before and it reminded me of a good Laing which is also made with a spiced coconut sauce. I definitely could've eaten this all to myself with the garlic rice. Yes, the garlic rice is good but I was surprised to see it go for $6 a bowl. Rice is usually so cheap, if not complementary in Filipino restaurants and garlic rice is quite common, especially for breakfast (yes, I sabreakfast). It was cooked perfectly though. The mango float was delicious. Not sure why it's called a float but it was mango and mascarpone ice cream nestled in a mango sauce and topped with a delicate, crumbly butter cookie. I will definitely come back for more if I'm ever in the area again. I'd be excited to try other things on their menu.
