Found this spot while walking towards the Belmont stop. I knew of their other location so I was pleasantly surprised. So many options, it's hard to choose. I decided to go with Hojicha Latte. I love the flavor roasted green tea. It's got a nutty, woody, smokey like flavor. This cold latte was just what I needed today! My nephew got the Thai Tea Madness which had ice cream on top with a cookie. He usually shares with me but he enjoyed it so much he forgot to offer and Zi forgot to ask. The service was good! It's easy to order from the screen. They only have one screen so it's best to decide before you line up to order on the touch screen. Loved the I interior. It's warm and inviting. We sat near the neon sign and the chairs were comfy. Can't wait to go to back to try the other drinks and the pancake souffle! read more

Ordered the taiyaki fish cone w/ matcha soft serve. It was so good that I came two days in a row lol. Unfortunately, both times, it melted very quickly into a soupy mess. They need to figure out a better way to serve it because the soft serve was dripping out the bottom of the cone within seconds of it being served. Many of the reviews noted the friendly staff, but unfortunately the times I came here, the staff barely made eye contact or acknowledged my presence. Also, I was quoted about 5-10 minutes to receive my order, but it took almost 20. Thirdly, the smell inside the establishment was....strange. Can't quite place what it is, but it was unpleasant and almost made me want to leave. I really do wish the ambience and service were better, cause then I'd be here all the time for the delicious food. With some tweaks, I think this place would be great. For now, I'll have to try the Chinatown location instead. read more

What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! Matcha En brings life to an already fun area. Matcha En offers desserts and most importantly boba drinks! Upon walking into Matcha En, a positive vibe welcomes us. To our right, the staff set up some self serve kiosks. The menu even though small offers some pretty good drinks. Of course, I need my favorite go to drink - Thai ice tea with boba! I rank the Thai ice tea flavor as amazing! The boba tastes fresh and not hard. The aroma of the Thai ice tea smells like heaven. In essence, the staff at Match En serves the prefect Thai ice tea with boba. I will definitely return to this place. read more

One of my favorite soft serve spots in the city! The soft serve ice cream is the perfect texture, as it is very creamy and compliments the matcha flavor extremely well. It is not too overpowering whatsoever. The matcha parfait comes with an array of toppings with mochi and green tea cake, the perfect assortment to add on to the ice cream as they compliment each other. Love the Matcha En in Chinatown so was so excited when they opened one in Lakeview! This one is much less crowded than the Chinatown one but thankfully has the same great flavor and actually much more spacious seating. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming and the Matcha Parfait we had was a work of art - we got the Matcha/Vanilla combo which was the perfect level of matcha flavor, and the ingredients of the parfait, especially unexpectedly the cereal, paired perfectly with the creamy ice cream. Cora was the best ever ... she was friendly, efficient, sweet, easy-going, and very kind. She's also very hard-working. Indoor seating is plenty. The desserts are buy one get one half off at night. But only on the right side of one side of the menu which is mostly the cakes and soufflé. The other side is all drinks and bubble tea. And the other side on the left side of the menu has ice cream and soft serve. I found the menu to be really efficient because it's not only big enough and beautiful and semi waterproof so you can clean it easily, but it was very clear from the pictures what you were getting and the pictures were really pretty and the colors were very bright. There's also an online menu that will give you more description of the items, but the paper menu that is laminated kind of is really aesthetically pleasing. It was a great experience having dessert here and the flavors were really good. I would say that the Matcha layered cake was not good because it didn't have much flavor. but the tiramisu layered cake was better because it was more moist and had more cream. read more

This is our first time at Matcha En and I think it was pretty nice. I think it opened right at the beginning the new year and I had like a Taiyaki fish cone like a waffle cone. It was really delicious with Pocky cookies and some Gummies with it as well, it was a little bit melty so I had to eat it fast! The Ube was really, really tasty.. And then sticking to the same theme, I had the Ube Boba tea which was equal equally as delicious and tasty as well. I'll definitely be back to this place. My wife had Thai iced tea and she said she liked it a lot too. Service was fast and friendly, singing while they worked. The decor was modern and cozy and they had an easy point of sale system. I love matcha and was so excited to stumble upon Matcha En. They have a ton of matcha items as well as ube, strawberry, etc. I tried a matcha strawberry drink and a matcha creme puff; both were outstanding! If they had espresso this would be perfect. This place is very cute and the staff was very friendly. We had a chocolate cheesecake which was very rich and creamy. Soo good. A Ube cream suffle which was perfect and a must try if you like ube. To finish it off I ordered a ube swirl tea which was just perfect. They let you choose the sweetness level (0% / 25% / 50% / 75% / 100%). I got 25% which was just the right amount of sweetness. I'll definitely come back an try some more. The menu is pretty big. read more

I took advantage of the buy one, get another dessert half off promotion. The employee helping me was friendly and quick. I really liked the Oreo cheesecake, but I didn't care much for the matcha crepe cake. It's too bad because I really like pretty much anything matcha flavored, but it really wasn't that good. An employee watched me using their restroom through the window. I went to the bathroom and there was 1 man on his smoke break. I was conscious of the body near the restroom window, but upon looking down and back up his head was in the window frame watching me as I was finishing using the bathroom. I then quickly left shaken and saw him in the kitchen before I left the store. I urge others to beware of this worker. I would not come back. Strawberry Matcha is super yummy. The matcha is not sweet at all which is perfect. I do wish there was more strawberry puree. Service was great as the staff was really nice but a bit slow. The place is very cute, techy and big! read more
