One of my favorite soft serve spots in the city! The soft serve ice cream is the perfect texture, as it is very creamy and compliments the matcha flavor extremely well. It is not too overpowering whatsoever. The matcha parfait comes with an array of toppings with mochi and green tea cake, the perfect assortment to add on to the ice cream as they compliment each other. Service is good at the lakeview location and the workers are quite friendly.

Cute place. Has WiFi and the Ube soft serve was DELICIOUS. Got a Taiyaki Fish Cone with Ube soft serve and I would get it again. Nice staff and they let me try the ice cream before ordering.

Love the Matcha En in Chinatown so was so excited when they opened one in Lakeview! This one is much less crowded than the Chinatown one but thankfully has the same great flavor and actually much more spacious seating. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming and the Matcha Parfait we had was a work of art - we got the Matcha/Vanilla combo which was the perfect level of matcha flavor, and the ingredients of the parfait, especially unexpectedly the cereal, paired perfectly with the creamy ice cream. Would highly recommend - they have so many options for desserts you're sure to find something for everyone!

Great service, amazing matcha ice cream -- huge serving and excellent consistency. We tried the ube/hojicha swirl and recommend.

Cora was the best ever ... she was friendly, efficient, sweet, easy-going, and very kind. She's also very hard-working. Indoor seating is plenty. The desserts are buy one get one half off at night. But only on the right side of one side of the menu which is mostly the cakes and soufflé. The other side is all drinks and bubble tea. And the other side on the left side of the menu has ice cream and soft serve. I found the menu to be really efficient because it's not only big enough and beautiful and semi waterproof so you can clean it easily, but it was very clear from the pictures what you were getting and the pictures were really pretty and the colors were very bright. There's also an online menu that will give you more description of the items, but the paper menu that is laminated kind of is really aesthetically pleasing. It was a great experience having dessert here and the flavors were really good. I would say that the Matcha layered cake was not good because it didn't have much flavor. but the tiramisu layered cake was better because it was more moist and had more cream.

This is our first time at Matcha En and I think it was pretty nice. I think it opened right at the beginning the new year and I had like a Taiyaki fish cone like a waffle cone. It was really delicious with Pocky cookies and some Gummies with it as well, it was a little bit melty so I had to eat it fast! The Ube was really, really tasty.. And then sticking to the same theme, I had the Ube Boba tea which was equal equally as delicious and tasty as well. I'll definitely be back to this place. My wife had Thai iced tea and she said she liked it a lot too. Service was fast and friendly, singing while they worked. The decor was modern and cozy and they had an easy point of sale system. Definitely give it a try!

This place is very cute and the staff was very friendly. We had a chocolate cheesecake which was very rich and creamy. Soo good. A Ube cream suffle which was perfect and a must try if you like ube. To finish it off I ordered a ube swirl tea which was just perfect. They let you choose the sweetness level (0% / 25% / 50% / 75% / 100%). I got 25% which was just the right amount of sweetness. I'll definitely come back an try some more. The menu is pretty big.

Loved the matcha cake! It was rich and creamy. Perfect to share with someone. Quick service and students get a discount.

Good, clean matcha flavor in my iced matcha "americano" (essentially matcha powder mixed with ice water). Lots of space for seating and a HUGE dessert menu. Will be back with the kiddos to try the matcha / hojicha / Ube soft serve, crepe cakes and mochi ice cream. Love the concept of matcha drinks / dessert shop. And any place serving hojicha flavored ice cream is a win in my book!

Let's start with the positives. I love the vibe of the cafe itself, it's one of my favorite spots just for the abundance of natural light and the cute decorations & art strewn across the walls. It's also just a very social atmosphere due to all the meetup events that congregate there, which can be a pro or con depending on who you ask. The employees are all super chill! Generally good vibes and never had a problem with their service. Now the negatives. The drinks and food are so mid. I keep trying different options hoping that I picked the wrong item, because I so desperately want to find that "go-to safe item" at my favorite spot. But all of it is just so, so mid. Sometimes it's too sweet (the most common problem), other times the flavoring is just super underwhelming or grossly artificial. The baked goods are all pretty low quality as well, I honestly think I could make better pastries myself (and I am a person who tends to be hypercritical of my work, so that's saying something).

There's a fair amount of seating considering the size of the place. Wasn't able to get a spot today unfortunately, but we did go at a busy time on a Sunday morning. Even though we were seated at a regular table, the place had a comfortable vibe and it was easy to settle into. The counter women were efficient, nice, and filled our orders promptly. They did give my friend the wrong size coffee at first, but corrected it quickly and without any problem. One thing I didn't love: my cappuccino was served in a Styrofoam cup while we were staying there. If you're drinking in, it really should come on a ceramic cup and saucer. Save the Styrofoam for takeout! The best part was that we stayed for a couple of hours and no one hovered over us, or made us feel like we had to leave. As for the coffee itself, it was just okay. Not bad, but not memorable either. That's a shame too, because the space is so comfy. Still, there are plenty of other coffee spots on the North Side - and this just gives me a reason to explore others in the neighborhood.

It is so tempting to open them and start smelling, only the signs very nicely ask you not to. Wanting a break from dime-store coffee and tea (Folgers - no hate, it has a place), I decided to get something a little less "meh". Added bonus is that I am able to support a family business, as opposed to the Walton family and their associated shareholders. The staff at The Coffee & Tea Exchange was wonderful! They helped me select three different coffees to take home, speaking to the roasts and what makes them unique. I'd also like to award some bonus points for just the right grind of coffee for my reusable Keurig pods. My amazement does not stop at coffee, either - this also applies to teas. I went home with a few varieties of some of the more flavorful loose-leaf teas I've had! The kicker? The prices were very reasonable! True, it is not as cheap as a large can of Red or Blue coffee from the grocer's, but at the same time, not as expensive as something a corporation (maybe with a two-tailed siren??) has convinced you comes from a magical place called Seattle. Final verdict: My freshman year roommate had 4 open tubes of toothpaste because "variety is the spice of life." I have one tube of toothpaste, but coming up on a dozen different coffees and teas in my cabinet. Once I start running low, The Coffee & Tea Exchange is the first place I'll go to restock.
