Absolutely blown away by these pastries. The honey squiggle, my favorite, was so simple yet so complex... the most satisfying flaky croissant texture I've ever had. Normally I love a combination of flavors and toppings, but here the honey flavor and light sea salt was all it needed. We also tried the sesame emmie -- very interesting! reminded me of a canele in texture but the sesame added a subtle savory flavor. My friend's favorite was the cheese Kouign-Amann. The vegetable quiche was solid as well. To drink I got an iced strawberry chamomile tea which was incredible. Very lightly sweetened which is my preference. I'm not a coffee drinker so I always appreciate creative tea options at cafes. The merch was adorable -- almost bought a hat but since I was visiting from out of town I had already bought too many things to bring back with me lol. Also rather small inside; we got a table around 8am on a Wednesday but shortly after that it got busier and all the seats were full. Still worth it to grab and go though. Need to come back and see which seasonal offerings come next!
Cute place and no laptops allowed, love that! Best Kouign-amann I've had in a long time. The middle was gooey and chees, my favorite. The cappuccino was good. Seating is limited and the stools aren't the comfiest but they're decent while hanging out for a little bit. the cashier was nice and the barista made a delicious cappuccino.
What we ordered: - emmie - quiche - pineapple sourdough muffin - squiggle The pineapple sourdough muffin had no flavor. Not sure if it was a bad batch. Everything else was good!
It's a good place to try if you are looking for unique flavors. Thr space is not huge, few tables for sitting down inside and a bar height area for few standing spots. Staff is friendly. We tried a few pastries, Emmy, cheese kouign amann, and lobee (brownie). They were all pretty tasty, just a bit pricey. Tried a couple of coffee drinks as well and they were good too. Overall if I was in the area, I'd stop by but I wouldn't go out of my way just to go there. Service animals are allowed inside.
Very unassuming coffee spot that has a cute cozy interior. There's some seating inside but not a lot. The baristas are always very nice. Everytime I've stopped in, their baked goods tend to be sold out so I am hoping to eventually get my hands on some of their baked goods, specifically their bread eventually! The coffee here is fantastic. I really like their rotating menu and their flavor choices. The smoked vanilla latte is so yummy.

Their coffee also smacks, there is seating (although limited) - kinda rare for Chicago bakeries, the ambiance is cute & inviting, and the workers are all friendly. My only gripe is that you don't know which pastries will be available for the day as they are constantly rotating pastries & don't post online which ones are available for the day. Thankfully, everything is delish here!

Loba has been on my want to try list for a while so when I found out we were just down the street, we finally paid them a visit! The outside is pretty unassuming but the interior is so cute! The staff working was so nice I wanted to talk to her all day. I told her this was my first visit and she gave me some recommendations on what to order. We went with the sourdough banana chocolate chip muffin, mole croissant, and emmie. Let me tell you these pastries blew our MIND. I wish we filmed ourselves eating them because our jaws were on the floor over how good everything was. The sourdough banana muffin was probably our favorite. It was moist and fluffy with a crunchy top - so good! The mole croissant: a crazy flavor combination! Sweet at first but then the mole and a hint of spice hits. The emmie was so unique too, the outside is crunchy but the inside super soft and light. It's slightly sweet and oat-y. To drink I got the smoked vanilla latte and my husband went with the 7 spiced mocha. Both were good! Definitely will be back to explore more of the pastries. I cannot wait!
super nice ambiance and interior. i didn't try their coffee but i did try their focaccia, which was a olive focaccia that day. it was really really good!! even inspired my friend to try to make their own. excited to come back here again.
I finally stopped by this neighborhood coffee shop today and it was lively, there was a steady line of people coming in while we ate there. Pastries were being refilled quickly! I ordered the emmie and a Chipotle scone. The emmie reminded me of a canele, crisp on the outside, soft and chewy inside, which I love. The Chipotle scone was a pleasant surprise and gave a great savory contrast, so I'm glad I got both. They didn't have matcha lattes (my usual go-to), but the friendly service totally made up for it. Even with a long line, the person who took my order was patient and kind, walking me through each item and answering my questions without rushing. The space itself is clean, cozy, and has those perfect corner coffee shop vibes. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.
Review is for merely one pastry. I assumed there'd be a huge line evocative of other Uber popular party shops so o showed up right when they opened. To my dismay there were only 3 pastries available while they were hard at work in the kitchen. I indulged in a banana & chocolate muffin which was actually pretty good albeit the chocolate flavor severely dominating the banana. I'd love to return to try their more experimental throngs I e seen online.
My friend brought me here and said it's usually packed with a line out the door but we got lucky and got in right before the rush. Still had to wait about 30 minutes around 11 AM. The menu is simple and seasonal so it changes often. I got a vanilla latte and a mix of pastries to try. The miso pastry had amazing chewy bread but the sauce was kind of confusing. I love miso but this version tried to be sweet and salty at the same time and didn't totally hit for me. Probably a 3/5. The blueberry sourdough cupcake was better. Tart and unique, 4/5. The elote pastry was so savory and flavorful, 5/5. Also loved the nutty one with icing on top. Sweet 5/5. By the time we left the line was fully out the door. There are maybe 7 to 10 seats inside so don't expect to sit unless you get lucky. I'd definitely come back to try more pastries and whatever seasonal drinks they have next.

Loba has been on my pastry bucket list for awhile! With inventive pastries that you won't find anywhere else, this spot sits at the top of Chicago's bakery list. The interior was pretty small and cozy, so I wouldn't count on getting a seat during peak hours. Because they tend to sell out quickly, I strategically went on a weekday around noon. However, they were already almost out and if that's not a community endorsement, then I don't know what is! The sourdough muffins were listed as a house favorite, so I opted for the pineapple. This was unlike anything I've had before- I'm not typically the biggest pineapple pastry fan, but this was outstanding. The sourdough gave it a unique flavor and it was perfectly moist without being too sweet. All of the flavors came together really well, and you better believe there was not a crumb left. The offerings aren't cheap, but the quality definitely outweighed the price for me. I will definitely be back soon (and earlier), and highly recommend paying a visit! read more

This was recommended by a friend and I'm glad I gave it a try. The pastry was excellent - fresh and flavourful. I got the Almendra en flor (I don't remember what was in it but I got it with corn milk) which was pleasant and paired perfectly with the pastry. Service was great, staff was friendly and my order was made quickly. The place itself is small and there are seatings but very limited. Only reason I'm holding back on a 5-star rating is that I've only tried a few items so far and would like to come back to try other things next time. read more
We wanted to try out some of their pastries. I did not expect to see a long line when I arrived, but it moved pretty quickly and the staff was great. Their coffee options didn't sound too great so we skipped on their coffee and took home a box of 4 pastries. Their cheese Kouign Amann and their pink mole croissant. The Kouign Amann was really good. I would order this one again. Unfortunately the pink mole was a little hard to eat without getting your hands dirty. If you used a napkin all the good stuff would get stuck on the napkin. I also only got a little bit of mole flavor, but was definitely looking for more. It seems like they rotate their mole croissant so I can definitely see myself returning to try their other mole croissants. read more

It's an Ok place to stop in to grab Java and a "funky" pastry on the way to somewhere. Even to sit in or outside and chat with acquaintances. Latte was strong and good. Donut was on the dry side, maybe that's their way. Tiny space, ok customer service. read more

We arrived Saturday, just before 10:00 am, to a line that only grew by the minute - and for good reason! These pastries are something special. I swear there were literally hundreds of thin, flakey, delicate, buttery layers that made up the base of my mascarpone and berry jam topped pastry. The curry white chocolate scone was just as unique as it sounded and beyond tasty. The space is small and the team behind the counter is friendly, taking time to explain to each customer any pastry questions they may have before ordering. The back offers a long, rectangular window into the pastry prep room where multiple women were hard at work. Great service, great selection of pastries, and awesome all around. Tucked away on a busy a corner, loba is a great pitstop for a beverage and bite. The pastries are made in house and you can actually see the process when you walk in. The coffee and non coffee options are made to order. The espresso is of quality and ive heard the cold brew is pretty stellar too. There menu always contains something different and experimental like curry white chocolate or mole. Definitely give this place a try. read more

Good Emmie, tasted like Canelé but in a different shape. The coffee was ok, but was too thin and not thick enough to me. I gave a 4 star mainly because the staff did not make me feel comfortable ordering my food. At first they asked me to go or for here (there were so many people inside at that time), but when I said for here, they asked again with a little sharp tone like, "do you have a table?". This made me feel less satisfied with Loba, even though I thought highly of them. Probably would not come again for such a crowded environment and experience that perhaps not being relaxing. read more
I really this place. The pastries are unique, not overly sweet or with a lot of cream or other "decor", and the coffee is not bad. My favorites are the croissants and emmies. The emmies are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - tastes like a bigger Canelé. They are always busy in the mornings on weekends. The space is small but cozy and people just wait in a line for their baked goods. read more
I just discovered my favorite cafe in Chicago. The is vibe and aesthetic is absolutely immaculate! It's so pretty inside. There's no WiFi or outlet and laptop usage is limited so it's very much enjoy your company or of others. Such a beautiful concept. Very lively seeing everyone engage. Came by on a weekend morning. There was a very short line when the cafe opened but they kept the line moving quickly. Interior seating was a bit hard to come by. They didn't have all the pastries out right when they opened so I would actually recommend coming a little bit later. The mole croissant was delicious - a chocolate croissant with some depth. Overall a cute cafe and worth checking out. read more
Wowowowow! Loba came highly recommended by the staff at Ethos Gym next door. After a pretty intense workout at 9am in the morning on a rainy Sunday, all I wanted was some coffee afterwards. This is a pretty legit, basic (in the best way) coffeehouse. You won't find blended surgery concoctions here, or 179 different syrup flavors. This is a tried and true coffee establishment. Order 2 Turkish Delight iced lattes. Amazing. Very cool ingredients (which included pistachio milk) and roses sprinkled on top. We also had 2 muffins. I LOVED the coconut sourdough and my husband loved the banana chocolate. For such a cool place, the baristas were super nice - I was definitely not expecting that! We will be back for sure since reality totally lived up to the hype. read more

Be prepared to come early enough so they don't run out of the yummy pastries that you can't quite find anywhere else! This is a small, low key and super casual bakery, and has some seating indoors. It has multiple locations but this one is just off the train station and they have delicious pastries (gluten free options available!) I didn't order any drinks but the pastries were delicious and some so dense that they can really fill you up! This was the case for the TROPICAL sourdough muffin (4/5*) and the PINEAPPLE sourdough (3/5*) muffin. My ultimate favorite was the CHEESE KOUIGN AMANN (5/5*) - perfect mix of sweet and savory. Staff is super friendly and they had plenty of staff to take order and serve. Will definitely be back to enjoy some more baked goods next time I'm in town! read more
What a cute little pastry and coffee shop! No outside signage so when the ride share driver dropped us off I was a bit worried. Went inside and worries were put to rest. Such a cute little shop that just screams "pride of ownership." Our group of 4 ordered coffee and picked out pastries to share. We LOVED THEM ALL and went back and ordered more. Pastries are freshly baked onsite and all have unique flavors. Service was really good too. What a nice place to come and treat yourself! read more
Loba Pastry + Coffee is my favorite coffee shop in Ravenswood. Lilia is the most polite and dearest lady I've ever been helped by at a cafe. She alone made my visit worth it. Aside from the unique flavored pastries to their special names, I really like that Loba doesn't shy away from exploring outside of the classic selection of croissants and pastries. I am always on my toes when I walk into Loba. You never know what new creations are up the baker's sleeve. The Scandinavian space is absolutely a showstopper. I absolutely love every small detail put into the lighting, the books and even the wavy wooden window book shelf. The only downside is the main setting is reserved for dining only, which is understandable given the high foot traffic and smaller space. In response to a harsh review, personally I think all can be more understanding, visit businesses with the right mindset for the right occasion. Laptop use is limited to the bars. No WiFi and no power outlets. Enjoy! read more
