I've been coming to this diner since I was a little kid and have seen it go through all it's management and name changes. Anyone remember the terrifying Windsor Diner hiatus and then horrible Johnny K's that came from it? Granted this place has always been family owned and managed - and even at its worst, it was still better than the Galaxy Diner in Rahway. Manny's dinner is your typical NJ diner. It's nice and clean on the inside and serves breakfast all day. It carries all the standard diner staples and I'm rarely disappointed with anything I order. The only downside is that I have ordered the same thing (chicken and waffles) multiple times with different servers and have been charged differently each time. read more

Two stars bc the waitresses are great. Zero stars for an omelette that first came browned on the outside with raw egg on the inside. The cook's fix was to brown the whole thing so it looks like a pancake and tastes like a flavorless plate of glop. I increased to 3 stars bc the manager did the right thing and actually even apologized which no one does anymore. Wow!!!! I have to admit I'm a little late to come around since they did the renovation here! I'm a big fan! We had 2 great sandwiches the Cuban and classic Reuben!!! Manny's Diner has changed. The menu is the same but the food isn't as good as it used to be when they first opened. It's not bad but it's not anywhere close to great. I guess three stars is fair. It's not as if the food is inedible. It's just very average and it was once so much better. I recently had a take out dinner from Manny's. They put the hot food into those styrofoam containers and everything gets soggy from the steam. I get take out a lot from restaurants and the better ones are using boxes rather than styrofoam. But even if my fries weren't soggy to the point of being limp and tasteless, the rest of the meal wasn't much to brag about. The prices at Manny's are way too high for the quality of the food. Back when they first took over, Manny's food was excellent. Not so anymore. I think the owners might want to take a look at what's changed in the past 18 months or so and sort it out. I'm not sure I will be coming back to Manny's. I have no problem paying for great food but I don't intend to pay for so-so food anymore. There's a lot of great places to go that have excellent food. We have eaten here many times and usually loved the food. Until tonight. Ordered on Uber eats. I opened up the turkey burger with curly fries and took a bite of the fries and tasted not only the potato but also a hair. A long one. I called Manny's to tell them and was transferred to different people. The fourth person I spoke to told me that he would help me. I told him about the hair. He told me to bring the food back to the restaurant. I told him I had the food delivered because I didn't want to leave my house. He didn't seem to care. He didn't apologize, seemed to have an attitude and acted surprised when I told him that I was disgusted by the hair in the food. He told me that he would give me a credit for the curly fries if I brought them back. The hair made me lose my appetite (might be good for my diet as I skipped dinner tonight) and our call ended with me throwing the food in the garbage and not getting anything from Mannys for the disgusting experience. I've been here twice with ten or so friends late at night. The menu is vast, and the prices are pretty standard. The decor is clean and quite eye-catching. Staff members are friendly and prompt, too. My only complaint is that they are NOT a 24-hour diner. In fact, a few months ago, when I came with a bunch of friends around 11pm on a Friday, I accidentally locked my keys in the car, and called for lockout assistance from my motor club. When the diner closed, and I was still waiting, staff members just closed up the place and didn't ask if I needed help, even though they knew my situation. Thank goodness some of my girlfriends in the group waied with me, so I wouldn't be alone. I just would have appreciated some sympathetic remarks from staff, instead of just asking us to go. If you want food that is a cut above your standard diner, go to Manny's. My favorite dish is the chicken bruschetta entrée. It normally comes over rice, but my waitress (Michelle) advised I could substitute. So I had corn. The entrée also came with a generous salad. The light raspberry vinaigrette dressing was delicious! As for the bruschetta chicken, it was the kind of dish you would expect in an upscale restaurant. Unbelievably good and enough food to bring home (though I ate the whole thing)! I've been to Manny's a few times now. A couple times when it first opened and again the other night. Used to be the staff was extra friendly, the food was good and more of it than you could eat. Their motto could have been "We want you to have a pleasurable experience". The other night not so much. The salad was great but the entree came out and was tepid and just plain cold by the time I was finished, still a bit hungry. Came here twice on a Friday night for a late night dinner with my husband. The first time was an okay experience. The second time was one of the worst experience I ever had. Terrible service from the waitress. She looked angry the entire night, forgot one of my husband's drinks (which we waited like 20 mins for), never came back to check on us, and waited another 30 mins to get her attention to bring us the check. You can tell she doesn't like working here. Barely any emotion on her face and she was barely on the floor. I am a frequent customer of this diner. It has recently gone down hill in regards to food quality, quantity and service. Very disappointing. I did just enjoyed a nice breakfast w my son, who is home from college. We will do generally ANYTHING for our children, but I just paid $13.95 for TWO glasses of fresh squeezed orange juice!!!! I had a pretty good experience here. When we walked in we were seated immediately, our waiter was fast, prompt, and although not extremely chatty, he was friendly. I especially liked that the manager stopped at our table to check in on us, I really appreciate when I get that kind of service. An excellent diner. I have had both breakfast and dinner and both were great. For breakfast I had 2 eggs, hash browns, and turkey bacon which was delicious. For dinner I had the Reuben which was very good. They served it open-faced with a lot of cheese. I had to take out half of the sandwich, My relatives had the turkey club and patty melt which they said were excellent. The turkey club supposedly used turkey that was just that perfect balance between moist and dry that makes the turkey on clubs great. read more

I have been here on several occasions. The food has always been great tasting and the portions are large. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Rueben platter. The corned beef is lean and great tasting. I asked if the French fries could be made crispy. The fries were crispy and great tasting. I only ate about a third of my meal at the restaurant. We used to frequent this diner when it was The Windsor, but stopped going when they "upgraded" it and changed into something else. I'm sad it didn't work out for the previous owners, but was happy to hear that it's a DINER again, so we tried it out tonight. It still looks "upgraded" as far as decor goes, but the menu is all diner, which I consider a good thing. The food was pretty good. It's diner fare, but with a little bit of flare, in my opinion. Of course, you pay for flare; their prices were a touch over what I would expect in a typical diner. A BIG plus is that they have Gluten-Free items on the menu! (Our son cannot eat gluten, and finding a place to eat out with him is challenging.) But sadly, the service was "so-so" at best. It was a slow Monday night, and we were ignored by all staff that walked by for at least 15 minutes. When she finally got to us, our server was very friendly and courteous. The food came out quickly and it was hot. However, we all wanted more beverages halfway thru our meals but could not find anyone to ask for them. When the meal was over there was another 10-15 minute wait for the check. We finally just got up and walked to the register intending to ask for the check when we got there. On our way there she spotted us and quickly printed it out and handed it to us. We'll definitely give it another try because we like a quick, reasonably-priced, but tasty meal, and Manny's fits the bill for that. Mannys Diner is somewhere I have always passed, but never thought about stopping at. What a mistake on my part because the diner is AMAZING! The food is delicious, service is great, and the atmosphere is nice and clean! There's so many options to choose from and it's all good. I recommend the chorizo and shrimp appetizer, coconut chicken special, and ham is HUGE. They serve alcohol and the drinks are reasonably priced and delicious. A MUST GO!!!! read more

Let me start by saying that I am not one to review every place I go or even write poor reviews but this is the exception. My husband and I have been to Manny's a few times since it is the only decent diner in the area...or so we thought. So far, we have had poor service every time from the hostess to the server. Today was particularly bad when the hostess was too busy chatting with a friend then to actually seat us, I received a Taylor ham and egg sandwich with no Taylor ham, the coffee was like water and both my husband and I got sick afterwards. This is not the first time we got sick and we ordered completely different meals. I'm not sure as to what is going on there but it isn't good. My husband has a stomach of steel and it destroyed him. Pancakes, eggs and bacon. How can you screw that up? I must say that every time I have dined here my order is screwed up and I leave hungry. After this experience today, I will never go back again.
