a plate of dumplings and a bowl of sauce

First timer at this home made family owned dumpling spot! Friendly service & flavor packed juicy dumplings! Got ready to eat & frozen dumplings that can be steamed & fried. Kimchee + Pork, Beef + Chives, Pork, Shrimp. Kimchee & Pork was my fave! Can't wait to make some rice cake dumpling soup for New Years. Yum!

the bottom ones are fresh, the dumpling on the top is old, it's at least a day old.

I got dumplings here, but i realized that they use unsold dumplings the next day. some of my dumplings are obvious, some are dried up and soggied then reheated. the pictures says it all. if anyone else sees a dumpling with a texture you see on the top end of the picture, avoid this place. the dumplings in the bottom shows that there is still moisture in them, while the ones on the top shows that it's been dehydrated then reheated by microwave. there is no other explanation for a dumpling to be blown up like that.

Looking for cheap, tasty and filling dumplings in the north jersey area? Mama Best Food is deff your answer. DO NOT plan on taking a hot date here. This is strictly a pick up place. For around $7-$10 you can get 11 dumplings ready to go. Kimchi, Veggie, Pork and hold up...GREEN TEA! never in my life have i heard of them! The veggie ones are delicious and so are the kimchi ones. Love them so much you wanna take them home? Buy a bag for around $14 and you can. dont 4get to pick up some buns or some korean drinks off to the side. Friendly staff & you can even watch the ladies make the dumplings right in front of you. what a process! *they take credit & theres a parking lot&

    Kimchi

Picked up a big pack of frozen kimchi mandu to steam and eat at home. I've heard so many good things about this place and the reviews were all raving about the kimchi mandu... Idk why but the kimchi mandu we received just fell below expectations. Hopefully it was just the mandu we got that was funky, but the kimchi flavor was VERY over-fermented. It tasted a bit sour. Kimchi does have its own unique taste but it was too tangy to eat comfortably or in large amounts.

Horrible pic of half the menu.. Darn.

I wish this place had consulted someone about the name of their store, because it is kind of silly, but MAN- their dumplings are soooo delicious. All they "serve" (take out only) is dumplings, the huge ones that are the size of your head (King dumplings), they have the standard kinds, steamed, deep fried, pan fried, in a few assorted varieties (kimchi, veggie, pork, shrimp, etc.) The entire place is clean clean clean! The women making the dumplings are clearly visible, and the counter old man is super friendly and will tell you the best ways to steam/boil the dumpling treasures. There are no tables, no seats, it is take out only - they have frozen ones boxed up and ready for you. Make a quick stop in, for $10 - 30 pieces of "mama made" dumpling goodness.

I love getting dumplings there. I often get the frozen ones and use them to pan fry and put in soups. Clean, friendly and tasty !

I had never had steamed skate anywhere before so my acquaintance told me that I wouldn't like it because it's "pungent" but I'm so glad I got to try it because I LOVED IT. So savory, flavorful, and packed with umami. Another good thing is their extensive menu. I can't wait to come back to try the rest of their dishes. The interior decor is very nice as well. The high ceilings and black color theme give it an elevated feel. And the staff is very nice and accommodating CONS: their air conditioning was broken when we went in the middle of summer (which I'm sure they'll eventually fix). I didn't mind because I love the heat but my acquaintance was sweating uncomfortably. Also, the food was good and some dishes were great but I wouldn't say it's the "best I ever had." The grilled beltfish was very plain (and bland) until I squeezed lemon juice all over it. It's the type of place that has endless comfort food and is your regular go-to spot (or go to order in) when you feel too lazy or tired to cook (or hungover) rather than a special occasion spot This place is decent and reliable. I wish she had told us this sooner, as we had to place a new order for my in-laws while we were almost done with our own food. strange that they were out of snow crab legs and dungeness crab so early in the evening and with so few customers. also the restaurant is freezing cold, dingy, and dark, which adds to the over all unpleasant dining experience. definitely skip this place!

Finally got to try this place I heard so much about on a Christmas day with wife because it was…read morefrigid and we wanted a warm bowl of Korean "tang"(soup). Finding parking is quite challenging given the location on a busy commercial street, so make sure you can come earlier than meal time to have better luck. They have waiting seats OUTSIDE so yeah I suppose it's quite popular at times. 1. ATMOSPHERE (3/5) - This location is small and it's pretty straightforward place. But I still found it cozy, with decent amount of seating (I think it can handle 15-20 max) and little details like wall with wood ledges and coat hangers were a nice touch. Seating was comfortable, though we tied our down parkas around our waist as another party had hung theirs on our side of coat hangers. 2. FOOD (4/5) - We dove right in to try their famous gejang (~Korean raw crab "ceviche") and ordered two of their namesake gookbap (rice with soup) to see how they are. Here's how it went down. - Gejang (App, $20, 2/5) - I had a hunch that on a holiday perhaps I should not order this, but my craving for succulent crab flesh be damned, I went for it and unfortunately, the meat was not well-marinated as I had feared. Gejang is a dish that has to sit in the complex soy-based pickling liquid for some time... and if restaurant is too busy churning them out or if it's slow season they won't do this properly. It not only wasn't fully marinated, I think the marinade was off because the spiciness was way out of balance and was overpowering. Perhaps knowing that it didn't have enough time to marinade the kitchen put extra diced jalapenos to compensate? Because that's exactly what it tasted like - you can't fool me. I tried to salvage the dish by asking a confused-looking girl server for some sugar, but yeah, can't un-do the overpowered marinade with sprinkling of sugar. This was really unfortunate as I was looking forward to a good bite. - Ahjae Gookbap (Main, $18, 5/5) - Thankfully, their namesake gookbap was spot-on to salvage our dining. Generous slabs of succulent beef on the bone and off the bone was swimming in a hearty beef/bone broth that tasted clean and focused. Portion was good, and can I say their banchan of fish cake moochim & unfermented kimchi & ggakdugi(radish kimchi) simply ROCKS? That was some serious deliciousness and dare I say value at $18 at a day and age where hamburger costs over $10! You win at life by ordering this! 3. SERVICE (4/5) - Our server girl was attentive and food came out early on though later it was a bit hard to get her attention promptly. We found ourselves putting hands in the air, and wavin' like we don't care... for a little while. They provide gloves & metal bin for gejang which was a nice touch for people to keep their fingers clean. One thing I'd like to mention: Plastic cup they served water in was all chipped on the rim so we instead went and got water from their hot & cold water dispenser which had metal cups (as many korean restaurants do). I'd suggest them to replace all these old plastic cups with metal ones for health reasons. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal. I'd chock up the gejang mishap to it being a holiday. I hope chef was just off with the marinade that day because I am a certified gejang pro(I catch and make my own) and that balance ain't it. But I will give it another try during warmer month and we'll definitely be back to try sooyook moochim, oyster jeon & other great soup offerings.

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

First time for me, and hopefully not the last. Unfortunately, I live in DC but this will definitely be on the list of favorite restaurants to return to. FOOD: Holy Shabu-moly! The fish cake, veggie, noodle, dumpling, sauce selection was too much. Seriously, I mean that literally. Patrons are paralyzed by the paradox of choice. Fewer options would help me focus on the essentials and allow me more time eating than deciding. Lol. Honestly I wish I would have just focused on ordering the meats. SERVICE: We had a young waiter who was very attentive, professional, accommodating, and understanding. Also, an older gentleman who I can only imagine was a manager, stopped by to fill our water glasses and ensure we were happy with everything. FACILITY: Not exactly what I would call spacious, especially if this restaurant was packed, but it was very comfortable, especially since we had a large wheelchair. The bathrooms were immaculate.
