Chicharon
Kristen V.

Manila's Lechon Manok is my family's favorite place to buy chicken chicharon (fried chicken skin). The service is very quick whether you're ordering for here or to-go. They have bar stools for individual or couple seating, as well as tables for larger parties. They have a large menu of delicious Filipino food, but for me I just want their chicken skin with suka and rice. Unlike pork skin, the chicken chicharon is thin and crispy. It's perfect for snacking or scooping up rice.

Lechon look at all the amazing seasoning and spices.

Food was amazing succulent, moist, and perfectly crispy skin! I would definitely recommend this spot to get your crispy pork belly fix! Friendly staff as well

On a whim, my buddy and I stopped in for a quick snack bite of their Lechon Belly. The inside is quite cozy. On the left is a countertop with a large selection of prepared hot foods (fried fish, rice dishes, etc.) along with a menu of prepared-to-order dishes (sisig, bulalo, kalderetang kambing, etc.). In the middle is a couple of mixed agate tables with a handful of round, wooden, high tables against the front window. The cash register and meats menu are towards the center back. On the right is the counter with all the meats on display - lechon kawali (crispy pork) and more. My buddy and I grabbed just a quick snack of a half pound of their lechon belly ($17.99 per pound). The inner meat is slightly sweet and salty and just incredibly juicy and tender. The top is ultra thin and crispy. It comes with 2 sides - a sort of vinegary, soy kind of sauce and the (my fave) a sweeter, tangy sort of lechon liver sauce. ($17.99 per pound). Got a half p

Came in kind of late. My uncle wanted a beef kabob but the wait would be 20 min and I knew he was hungry. We got him pancit. I also got two sausages and an order of both chicken and pork Chicharron. The place is clean and staff is friendly. I have to come back so I can try more items. Service was quick. Pricing was reasonable.

Big selection of Filipino classic foods, all already prepared. Manila's Lechon is located in a strip mall, in the heart of Carson's filipino town. It has a bit of seating for dine-in, though the majority of people coming in were doing carryout. It's nice to be able to get lunch before 11am, since they open early for breakfast. My wife and I shared a 2 item combination plate ($11.99). Depending on what you get, it might be cheaper to get the items separately. It came with white Jasmine rice, and we ordered another large scoop for $2.50. A can of soda was $1.50. As typical, we chose one stick of the pork bbq, and a cup of the pork sinigang. All of this was from the left side of the restaurant, and you pay in the middle once prepared. They accept credit cards for over $10. In terms of the food, it had a ton of flavor but was extremely oily. The pork bbq stick had thinly sliced pork shoulder, bunched together on a stick and glazed with a very delicious sugarly sauce. Because it was so fatty, even though it had been thoroughly cooked, the meat was still moist. But this meant that many of the pieces were just total fat, unedible. The soup had large chunks of pork rib tips, but this made the broth so oily that we couldn't really eat it. Normally, we can just spoon it over the rice, but even that was difficult because of the fattiness. The soup just ended up being a conduit to keep the pork meat and vegetables hot, but the meat was tasty. Having a lot of rice is a must here. We finished everything, and I could still eat a little more, so decided to get the 1/2 portion of the namesake, Lechon Kawaii ($7.50), which is displayed on the right side of the restaurant. Super glad I did...had to wait 10 minutes for them to reheat the pork belly and chop it into bite sizes after paying. The piece of pork belly had plenty of meat, and just the right amount of fat along with the crispy skin. It's a good deal for that price, and it came with the peanut dipping sauce and vinegar. We really liked it, and brought about half of it home. All of the ladies inside were super helpful and friendly. They directed us to the hot/cold filtered water dispenser for free water when we only ordered one soda (and even directed me how to use it). They recognized that we were first timers, and everytime I looked their way, they would ask if we needed anything. I had to sheepishly say 'No'...I was just trying to take more pictures for this review. And when we left, they offered us a bag for our leftovers and wished us a genuine 'Good Bye and hope to see you again'.

saw manila's lechon manok while my girlfriend and I were in the area. They had so many great Filipino food options that it was hard to narrow down what I wanted The service was super helpful and extra boxes and wrapping for taking food home the ambiance was Like any other Filipino place warm and cozy

My mom wanted halo halo, so I went here at 6pm on a Monday. One pair at a table eating and talking inside. It was pretty dead. Halo halo was $7.17 after tax. Paid in cash because it said $10 min for cards. Would order again

Great food and service. Very affordable. Very helpful to two non Filipinos. Lots of choices. Only needed was some translation on what we were eating

WARNING: ‼ Beware of this place. Not only was the food not warm, please make sure you check your receipt. We ordered 3 combo plates, an order of lechon kawali and lechon pork belly. Somehow our order came out to $78.50 (see receipt image). If you add the items we ordered on the receipt, it adds to $68.50 but somehow the total came out to $78.50. It would be okay if it was an honest mistake but when we brought it up to one of the male workers, he tried to justify how it came to that $78.50 price even though it wasn't on the receipt. He said the combos had another tax on them that wasn't on the receipt...which makes no sense. He made it sound like there was no mistake. Ultimately, one of the ladies was very nice and kindly recalculated the order on the cash register and saw it was a mistake and refunded us. We wouldn't have cared if it was a couple dollars but $10 is a little too much. Plus we didn't appreciate how the guy was trying to add a tax that wasn't on the receipt to justify the price. Anyway, just make sure you check the receipt if you decide on eating here.

I will start by saying you'd be wasting your time and money going here. Their food has to be reheated and refried. It is NOT fresh! It is NOT delicious. It is NOT worth the price. We ordered 3 dishes: - lechon (roast pork) - sisig (chopped up pork bits) - chicken and pork skewers Paid about $50 with tips. I should not have tipped. The food was truly indigestible. I stopped eating after a few bites. What should be a beautiful crispy roasted pork skin was rubbery, tasteless and just disappointing. The sisig was the biggest disappointment and the worst I have ever had. There were hair on little pieces of meat, and it was chewy and disgusting. My jaws were literally painful after chewing and chewing and chewing. It is a no brainer that the food was old. The pork skewers has so much of fat and it was nothing but sweet. A whole pile of plastic spoons fell to the floor. A staff picked it up and placed it back on the holder as if it had no issues. Disgusting especially when your kitchen floor was so dirty! Save your money and go find a nice filipino restaurants, there are many out there. The service here is pathetic and super slow. And it is expensive. I do not recommend this place, it is not worth it. I was disappointed and so were my family.

We ordered the sisig and the lechon, and both were outstanding, but the lechon truly blew us away. It had the most flavorful, juicy meat and the crispiest, most perfectly seasoned skin we've ever had in the US. It genuinely felt like a taste of home. The service was just as wonderful. Kristel was incredibly friendly and attentive, and we even got to meet the owner, Zaldy, who treated us like family. He even surprised our son with ice cream which was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture. The restaurant itself is clean, cozy, and has a welcoming vibe. We loved that they have karaoke too and we ended up singing along and had a great time. Ethan's Belly Boink is a true hidden gem. We'll definitely be back soon

The karaoke and food reminded me of my family gatherings. I'm half Filipino and my Filipino side of the family always knew how to throw a good party. Where there was Filipinos there was always karaoke and great food. So I was excited. I already knew there would be no seating so I was okay with taking it to go. The second I walked up to the register to order I could sense an unfriendly vibe from the lady at the counter. I'm not sure if she was just having a rough day or what, but it was definitely negative energy. I ordered the sisig bangus combo with white rice. Waited for about 10-15 mins which I didn't mind because like I said the karaoke vibes and seeing people at the party happy made me happy. When my food was ready she bagged my food up and held it out to me like here you go you can go now. I grabbed the bag and asked for "patis". She looked at me and said "I put soy sauce in there already." I repeated myself and asked for patis. Then she asked another lady and the other lady said they were out of patis. Which is kind of hard to believe. Knowing that Patis is huge when cooking and eating Filipino food. Okay fine they're out. So then I asked if I can have vinegar for my rice and sisig. She looked like she didn't want to even give me vinegar. Eventually she reached back and grabbed me a vinegar. There was so many sauces pre packed near the register. What was wrong with giving me some vinegar? After she gave me the vinegar I said "salamat" which means thank you. She just stared at me. Not even a "you're welcome." It's sad because I know any other day I would like this place. I just don't understand how you can let some people run the register knowing they have horrible customer service. Maybe she was having a rough day, but still you should treat your customers like you want them to return. On a side note the food is awesome. If I decide on coming back I hope I don't have to deal with that again.

We've tried a lot of different version from different places all over, and have come to the conclusion that we like the version at Gemmae's, the best (as long as for my wife, they skip adding patis to the pancit).
