Tried many filipino restaurants in Carson & have to admit that this place is the best or the best tasting palabok in town! friendly service/staff & generous portions as well. -Great for parties or catering... read more

My mom called this place and the lady that she spoke too was very disrespectful. She hanged up on my mom pretty fast didn't even know that a customer was ordering in their restaurant. My mom feel very disrespected read more

Two words: Pancit Malabon! Do you even need anything else? I kid you not, their pancit malabon is THE best in town. I've tried a lot of malabon but there's just no comparison. Not even close. Plus its fairly cheap compared to other restaurants. A medium sized malabon costs about 30 bucks while other joints charge around 40 to 45. I've been really spoiled with their pancit malabon because they're so convenient from my place. its a staple to every single party. Seriously. Its the fail safe food to bring to any potluck. Any Filipino out there knows what I'm talking about ;) Granted I can't say anything else about their other food since I haven't tried it. But hey like I said there's only two words you need to remember: Pancit Malabon! read more

Ok, this is just one of your typical hole-in-the-wall filipino joints. It's a turo-turo place (which means "point-point"-- so its a place where you point and choose your dishes from already made batches). The place is known primarily for is Pancit Palabok, which I'll have to admit is pretty good. Another entre worthy of mention is their Lechon Kawali and their home made Sarsa for it. But everything else available most days is just okay. Sometimes pretty oily. ONLY go, if you want pancit or lechon hahaha. Well, if you listen to me that is. read more

Oh man, I've been to many Filipino places and this one is by far my favorite! I'm a hapa hehe so I know my Filipino food! Swear to u... Shits better than my mamas! ( don't let her know I said that) I come for the crispy pata! My absolute fave! Also the staff is super friendly! I always tell everyone to check out this joint. (Naw my moms food is bomb af too ) But whadup with the karaoke night? read more

I love hole in the walls and i've never had Filipino food before, so when i looked up best Filipino food on Yelp and found this hole in the wall, family type, down to earth place, i was uber excited. The service was great, people were extremely friendly, but then i took my first few bites and everything went downhill. Being Chinese and immune to oily food, i dont know how this place made me feel so darn sick...being really open mind about food, i thought maybe this is just how filipino food tastes like, but sadly, my bf told me that he has had waaayyy better filipino food before (numerous times actually) and we should never come back here. sad that i dint discover a little filipino joint that i could call my own read more

Very disappointed. You order THE ONLY FOOD worth ordering (Pancit), and give them a time for pickup, but you end up waiting 45 minutes. 1 st time I waited for 30 minutes and thought it was ok because they were busy, 2nd time waited 30 minutes because they were low in staff. 3rd and last time, I waited 45 minutes on a regular weekend and they had 3-4 employees just waiting. Worst service, and it seems it's getting worst. Not worth it for only Pancit. read more

This is the 4th Pilipino turo-turo restaurant (food is laid out cafeteria style and you point to what you want) that I have tried after Handugan, Tita's and Manila's Lechon in Carson all of which are in close proximity to each other. I went around 2 p.m. on Sunday thinking that it would be after the lunch hour crowd but the place had a steady flow of customers trooping in from the church next door. The place is small and has a cozy feel to it. Thankfully it has a more structured flow for ordering - you start at one end and pay at the other. I went with the standard two item combo to go ($5.99 + tax) and selected Chicken Adobo and a fish dish whose name I do not know. My server asked if I wanted the head or belly and I went with the belly he also sheepishly told me that this is very sour, but I wanted to try it anyway. I did not see any deserts laid out like Manila's Lechon (which incidentally was the cleanest of all the four locations and felt inviting) so didn't get any. Again did not get any soup so don't think it is part of the combo (It's included in Handugan and Tita's). They are strictly cash only so come prepared. Taste wise the fish broth was way too sour for my linking but the fish was good. Chicken adobo was better that Tita's and Manilas Lechon but not as good as Handugan. I'm no expert on Philippine cuisine so this is just a reflection of my taste. Another thing I noticed was way too many pepper corn shells in the food and I don't mind a few but after a couple of bites I was spitting them out. It is hell of a lot of food for 6 bucks and change and I will be back to sample some more things from menu. read more

Manila Sunrise - 2 item combo with Chicken Adobo and Fish ($5.99) - Good. - Filipino Near Me - Carson, California

Its a good place to come when your like me, typical filipino girl that doesnt cook filipino dishes at home (shocking i know!). They have some good deals with 1,2 and 3 item combo's if you dont feel like getting the buffet. Prices have gone up in the last couple of months but still a good price for what your getting. Always a favorite in my house is the ground beef, it can be a bit on the oily side so just strain it out before you eat. Come here early to get your pick or else the food you want might be gone by the time you get here! Needs a major interior re-do, chairs and tables are wobbly so be careful where you sit, in fact just take it to go and eat it at home! Beware they do not take credit cards unless you spend more than $10! read more

FIrst time trying.. and wow it was great!! Well minus the too oily part... -_____- we had buffet and i think we stuffed until we passed out hah i like their wrap which was very unique (no meat but the sauce was bomb!!!) This place has mostly meat (as in chicken beef pork) everything the place looks like a to-go place but do not be deceived!!!! if you're craving heavy filipino food then this is the place!! read more

First of all, the location on the map view on Yelp is wrong; it's NOT near 228th and Main, it's closer to Main & Carson. Food was ok. Dinuguan was decent, and the trial bite of the lechon was amazing (I decided not to order it to give myself another couple of years of life). The worst dish by far was the sour fish soup (can't remember what it's called, but it wasn't sinigang). This was the most god awful saltiest soup I've ever tasted. In fact, I asked for a bowl of hot water to dilute it, which they happily provided--didn't help a bit. It was just bad. The fish was nothing but bones, so I spent more time picking the food in my mouth than actually eating. Everything else, not surprisingly, looked mighty greasy. I won't be going back. read more

Food is mediocre to okay but more importantly the place looks so sad! They don't even clean or update their condiments. The sriracha on our table had molds in it! Maybe ordering to go is good but I will not come back. read more

Not a juicy Filipino hot spot The food is bland and does not taste like homemade dishes from yo mama's kitchen. The dishes on the counter looked like it was recycled from the day before and very dry looking. The food is edible but definitely one of the worst Filipino food I have tasted. There is a $10 ayce which sounds like a really good deal but after looking at the food offered I opted to get just the $6 2 combo. Plus when I was standing at the cashier I was not helped until 5 mins later. The guy was sitting there but he was doing something else and had a hard time hearing and in my opinion should not be handling the cash. He almost didn't give me the right change but an employee saw it and told him to correct it. Of course if it was giving me more money then maybe it wouldn't have been so bad but I was getting less money so of course that diminished more of their credibility as a business. read more

I don't usually dine out for Filipino since my mom cooks for me. Thank you mom! I love you! But, when I'm craving for Pancit Palabok, I go to Manila Sunrise. It's one of the few dishes my mom and I don't make. It's delicious! They also cater. I've ordered from them countless times and I haven't been disappointed *knock on wood* once. read more

When entering the restaurant two young girls no face mask. Another woman opposite side no mask, all of them on their laptop (must be related to the owner). The male serving cheated us out on food. We asked if we could get extra sauce over the rice he said "no"; we were going to pay so I don't understand why he was acting that way as if we wanted free "sauce". Our second dish we asked if we can get the onions leftover which looks to be 1-2 spoon full if that and he replied "that's a whole side left, if you want it it'll be for another combo". Horrible customer service. This place was referred to us by a customer who said she has been coming for years. Definitely will not be coming back here. Here's the icing on the cake. Place has been rated a B for sometime now, but we figured since the person assured us this place has wonderful food we'll take a chance. Guess wrong, very wrong. 2/10 read more

the best Filipino food you can buy... tastes the most like my Mom's cooking and she's Kapampangan. Five stars for the food. Minus one star because they can't take credit cards, they close early, and they don't have much food left at the end of the day. They're also very "hole-in-the-wall" which is fine by me, but may matter to others reading this review. the only reason I ever buy Filipino food elsewhere is for convenience. - bistig (beef steak) flavor is on point - chicken falls off the bone in their chicken adobo - they give you a lot of meat with the kare-kare (unlike most places that only give you one or two pieces) - longanisa served throughout the day... what's not to love about longanisa? - only place in/near the South Bay to get pancit malabon read more

Their lechon kawali is the best!!! Besides from the friendly service, the portions are huge! Unlike other turo-turo places nearby, their lechon kawali cuts are proportionate, not drained in oil, and not a whole lot of fat. Oh, and they make fresh, hot bibingka. The lcoation is not bad at all. Plenty of parking. Definitely they've made regulars out of us and we'll definitely return soon. read more

Super hospitable. Tita Pett totally took care of us while we were here. Food is scrumptious, we got the two item longanisa, bistro, and a coconut pork dish. They're also known for their pancit which is solid! And it also super nice that St. Philomena is next door. Mass the breakfast yo! Would definitely come back. read more

Manila Sunrise - Noms - Filipino Near Me - Carson, California

Stopped by since a family member from Denver, CO missed Filipino food and had a random craving for sinigang (beef and veggie stew) and dinuguan (pork blood and "misc. parts" stew). However they had neither that day. So I got take-out. I ended up getting the lechon kawali (fried pork) since I've had it here many times as a kid and kuchinta (orange rice cake). Lechon kawali was overly fried .. near burnt and too much skin and not enough meat. Kuchinta didn't come with shredded coconut but it tasted good. We ended up going to the new turo-turo (point point) place called Manila Lechon down the street... read more

The Best Pancit Palabok/Malabon in California. No need to go anywhere else to get your palabok fix. Other items are good and tasty as well and fairly priced. My friend ordered Pancit Palabok here .Called them in the morning .A lady answered and get my friend's name and phone no. and it will b ready for pick up on same day at 12NN. Antho L and I met up for lunch and being a pro in filipino food, Antho L wanted me to try out Manila Sunrise. Suffice to say, I was not disappointed. First off, they had an AYCE buffet for $7.99 and they have over 12 different dishes. Some of the notable dishes include the beef adobo, menudo, pork grinds, and the tangy sour soup which was an amazing pallet cleanser. Sure the decor here is nothing to write home about. However, you come here for the food, not for some fancy dining experience. With it's plastic plates and utensils, this place does not ooze romantic ambiance, rather, it is all about the food here. If you're like me and unfamiliar with filipino food. Give this place a try and you will get a nice sampler of popular filipino dishes. read more

The BEST Filipino food outside the Philippines...wait no...I just came back from the Philippines a month ago and Manila Sunrise's pancit beats all the noodle dishes I tried there. They have a new cook from the Bicol region of the Philippines so if you want to taste authentic laing and bicol express now you can!! Don't speak Tagalog or know the name of the dishes? Neither do I but that's ok...just point randomly...EVERYTHING looks and tastes amazing (mukhang masarap talaga!). read more

I believe they only accept cash. Call to be sure, just in case. Delicious, delicious, delicious pansit palabok! This is literally the only place I enjoy ordering palabok! It's so time consuming to cook this dish, so we always order from this restaurant. I call a few days ahead of the date and I pay and pick it up on the day I asked for. The people behind the counter are very nice and helpful. This place is also a restaurant. They offer select Filipino foods and have plenty of tables to enjoy your food. The venue itself is old and it can definitely use a remodeling, but it is what it is--a filipino restaurant :) It doesn't matter though because they make great palabok! read more

I can assure you that this is absolutely the worst Filipino food..actually the worst food period I have ever had. I mean it's not even edible...I was super shocked at all the good reviews this place has, either they have no taste buds, or they are friends and family of the owner. My husband who will eat anything and everything had to dump the food in trash...if you're that desperate for Filipino food in the Carson area go to Tita Celia's.... read more

Its worth a visit for pancit malabon. Just overlook the slow and disorganize service here for the sake of your guilty pleasure. Filipino food craving? This is the place to go.. fast, good food and very nice people!

They must have changed cook. The palabok ordered last Thanksgiving was terrible! It was pale due to lack of sauce and very menimal ingredients. This was the worse ever palabok they put out. read more

Definitely doesn't beat mom's cooking. The beefsteak was watered down and longanisa was a little to fatty for liking...not sure I'd return.

Today is our first day to tryout the food at Manila Sunrise. Manila Sunrise food has a lot of variety. We had dinuguan, lechon baboy, kaldereta, and beef steak among many others when we got there for lunch. Dinuguan was ok; not too spicy (maybe not spicy at all). The lechon baboy was great!!! We love it! The skin was made really crispy. You can hear the crunch when you take a bite of it. Kaldereta and beef steak were ok too. Oh, they also give out free soup (when you ask for it). The servings were big too; just like Panda Express' servings. It was a plateful and filling that we didn't even need to have to prepare our dinner. With the numerous orders that we had, we asked for boxes to take out the rest of the food that we didn't get to finish. At least we still got to take home some viands for tomorrow's meal. Oh, they also offer a less than $10 lunch buffet! We surely will come back soon. read more

Went here for lunch on a Friday and we beat the crowd! Super laid back atmosphere, but it actually reminded me of the carinderia back in Manila - homey, not flashy, practical decor. I ordered the 2 combo meal for less than $6 (great deal!) - it comes with rice and 2 entrees. I picked the Bicol Express and Ginisang Baguio Beans (my fave). My dad got their uber famous Pancit Malabon which the owner made herself! He also got (after my prodding) the Dinuguan and the Kaldereta combo. It was too much food actually, but I wanted to taste a little bit of everything--the All You Can Eat price of $9.99 is a no-brainer, but I have to be really hungry for that! If I didn't want to bring home leftovers, one entree is actually the perfect amount. Food was very close to my mom's cooking. I should have tried the Kare-kare and the Lechon, but there's always a next time. Yummy goodness all around and the owner and staff were kind and very accommodating. read more

The staff was very friendly and especially the food selection was amazing. Their specialty pancit malabon was out this world. The other pancit items were no slouch either and all the fish dishes and kare kare including the lechon were very tasty eclipsing my craving for filipino food. read more

Placed an order of Pancit Palabok and they were not able to delivered it on time. A lot of people have the same problem last Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. One of the lady cashier saying she is the owner told us not to buy from them if we don't like their service. WTH. She even hit our car and saying bad words. We filed a complaint with the police because everthing was caught in video. Best of luck to Manila Sunrise. read more

Disappointing: modest ambiance (read "dive"), including "B" Health Dept rating. Pancit Malabon, for $6.50, was 99% rice (flavoring not all that exciting) with three 1/2 shrimp and 1/2 boiled egg.
