And they have free cute little bottles of cold water at the front desk! Savonne King a Storage Associate at the 401 E 110 St location is very helpful and professional and stops at nothing to make sure things are going well all while making customers feel comfortable with her kindness and pleasant outlook. The massive steps used to reach the upper units are very secure and feel safe to stand on but as a not incredibly muscular person I found them hard to unlocked and move. read more

Ever since MMS got bought out by another company (Storage Mart), quality has been rock bottom and gone downhill from there. Not only do they close on the holidays (it used to be 24hours/day, 365 days a year) but they keep raising their prices! If it's not every year, then they raise the insurance rates, plus they charge a processing fee for using a damn credit card!! So I stopped using my cards, pay via ACH payment... and yet rates still go up! Some of the staff can be friendly and have given me breaks; but some of the newer peeps are downright useless (not customer service, more like CUSTOMER DISSERVICE!!) Come on, they r squeezing every penny out of you -- even if they are not minting those anymore. Let's do better here... tried to write letters to the main HQ of Storage Mart, but have fallen on deaf ears. It doesn't matter if I'm a loyal customer for the last 11 years and never late on payment... these days loyalty doesn't matter anymore. WORST WORST WORST. read more

The facility sent an email a month ago when we were out of the country informing us we'd need to move units because of "construction". There was no contact again after that. No phone call and no follow up email. Received 4 emails today stating auto pay canceled and then renewed, change of terms and new unit info. They cut the lock on our unit and moved our items without permission. The employees working were terrible and said we should've checked our email. The female who answered the phone said "it's not her fault someone didn't do their job." This is such a violation of our trust. we have no clue who moved our stuff and what's there anymore. We called corporate and asked to be connected with a facilities manager or someone who oversees the facility and were told someone would get back to us in 72 business hours. We asked for the persons name and were told his name was Andrew R. We asked for his last name and they us they couldn't give us that for "privacy" reasons. How ironic... they broke our trust and invaded our privacy and Andrew R's last name can't be revealed. This whole company is a joke. We will update review once they get back to us. Meanwhile we can't access the unit we're being overcharged for because they have a new lock and we don't have the keys. I DO NOT recommend using this facility. read more

Do not get yourself sucked into this heinous business. They will arbitrarily raise your rates at any moment without notice. My storage unit went from approx $550 to $860 in the course of a couple of years. I recently moved units and my rent was raised twice in 2 months, adding over $80 a month to my rent. Just totally outrageous the way they operate. And of course if you are busy like most people you never deal with it. Even worse, the elevators at this location are often out of order and you are unable to access your unit. RUN. DO NOT USE THIS STORAGE PLACE. These people are so evil. They don't care at all about their customers, this is so horrible I have no idea what to even do right now. I rented this unit after finding out so had to leave to country for work on very short notice. I started moving in my belongings. Halfway through my code to get in the building stopped working. There was someone else outside having the exact same issue. But they aren't leaving the country for work so they can confront these horrible people tomorrow at 8am when they will actually answer. Half my stuff is inside; half is out. They say no one can help me until 8am. I have to be at the airport at 4am. I paid way too much for this unit, and I can't even cancel and move my stuff to another place. I'm completely screwed. They had the audacity to tell me they couldn't do anything because what was happening was "not an emergency, a emergency is when the building is on fire." Right now I am standing outside, half my stuff inside, half out. They have my money and my stuff--and I bet you these evil people keep charging me the full amount each month even after what they did. read more

Kept delicate clothes here way too long and managed to ignore their existence for 10 years. They may have changed locker locations relocating my boxes for me I think. I believe it bc my boxes were stacked better than I remember doing it. They were so kind pleasant and helpful (thank you alicia) getting my stuff out and closing out (very simple) and even figuring out how to donate stuff no longer wanted. Initially I was able to ignore the fact that they allow homeless people to loiter inside the building and their history of thefts from storage units at the 44th street location, but due to their high employee turnover, the front desk staff is now extremely rude, unprofessional. On my last visit, despite opening an account here with my wife three years ago and personally using the unit approximately every week, they said I wasn't allowed into the unit. Despite being named and authorized on the account, when we moved to a larger unit, they just threw out all of our information from the original account, so I am no longer allowed in the unit. Also I am currently trying to check out and one person is in the back bs'ing instead of helping me. I can actually hear his conversation since the wall is very thin and it is about his stance on the right to "fux wit" multiple women at the same time. We rented a storage unit from Manhattan Mini Storage for about seven years, and had a good experience while there. Friendly staff, clean facilities, never saw any bugs inside, safe, parking spaces at the facility - everything you want from a storage place. The only negative is that the rate for storage did seem to go up about $10 a year while we were there, but I guess that's what happens when there's no shortage of demand because of tiny city apartments. read more

I am incredibly disappointed with the behavior of the general manager of this facility. He was incredibly rude and unprofessional. He raised his voice at me while I was having a calm conversation with another customer. He was very emotional and made false statements about me in front of other customers and his staff. I think its ok, just a little fishy. I tried to reserve a room online when I answer like a couple minutes later they suddenly no longer had a room at smaller rate. But maybe that's the name of the game with storage units? I paid about $70 bucks for a small room. Don't expect it to be anything nice. It's just a little square storage. Also you have to buy like two locks and one of them they ask for it back. If you forget the card you are also charge another $10 bucks. Also you have to add another $10 bucks because of insurance for your item. So things do add up. it's not as cheap as marketed. But one good thing is they give you free shuttle curb to curb if you move--ONLY if its Manhattan. If you took a cab there to move your stuff there they'll refund you if you provide a receipt. Overall, its ok, but not the greatest facilities. The neatest and prettiest part of it is the front desk area. read more

Excellent customer service friendly staff members here. I was there 3 times to store my belongings due to a planned move. They were efficient and helpful. The forms had already been completed when i got there. Staff assisted me with opening the storage unit. The taxi (FREE pick up) driver was also very helpful assisting me with picking up my things outside of my door and helping me unloading my things at the dock at the warehouse. I was contacted by management on Yelp but I'm not on here enough to notice so instead, they caught me late at night when I came through to pick up some stuff. These guys had painted EVERYTHING so that the dust was no more and they wanted to thank me about my review and show me what they did to improve. You will not get this service anywhere else. I had a wonderful experience with Manhattan Mini Storage this past weekend. A competitor storage company literally left me hanging when they failed to pick up my boxes for storage as scheduled. After spending a good 30 minutes panicking, I called Manhattan Mini Storage hoping that they would be able to help. Indeed they did. They were able to arrange for movers to come to my apartment within 30 minutes to pick up my boxes and furniture. The movers were quick and professional -- and Manhattan Mini paid for the move! When I arrived at Manhattan Mini Storage, Jairo Mateo was working at the desk and he took great care of me. Within minutes I was set up with the right size storage unit and everything was handled. Jairo was very supportive during what was a very stressful moment. I should also note how clean and modern the storage set up is. I used Manhattan Mini Storage once prior, but was persuaded to try a newer storage company that boasted a cool app and more of a 'young' image. Well, they turned out to be inexperienced and unprofessional What I really needed was a tried and true company that knows what it is doing. I've been a customer at this facility for several years. During that time, the monthly cost for my storage unit was either raised or about to be raised almost yearly. After discussions with previous managers, I was able to convince them that loyal long-term customers should be rewarded in the same way that new customers were enticed with special deals. I just received notice for yet another increase. I made attempts to speak to the current (new) manager who signed the letter. My first phone message was not returned. I called again and spoke to an employee who could not help with my request to maintain my current monthly fee. I asked to speak to the manager and was told she is not available but that she would call me back. She never did. While previous management was usually accommodating, I'm afraid that the current management represents a downgrade in customer service. I have begun my search for a lower cost, more convenient storage facility. Very disappointed in Manhattan Mini Storage. read more

Did you know this location has an excellent meeting/conference room? Our company has used this space on numerous occasions and have always been satisfied. It is well appointed in terms technology features, clean, comfortable and affordable. On the day of our last meeting it was rainy, cold and miserable. The room (and the staff!) were bright, warm and inviting. Interestingly, our most recent use of the space we held training on great customer service. Rented a small space at the 44th St location this afternoon. It was a long process to check-in! 30 minutes. Just not efficient. Also, there is no air conditioning on all the floors. The floor where I placed my stuff was rather warm and stuffy. For a 4 by 4 by 5 bottom space, the rate was $86 which I still thought was an okay deal. Not sure how folks can deal with the upper spaces.... However, the place is not nice at all. Rather beaten up walls and the slowest elevator.. Really dodgey establishment overall. Maybe other locations are better? And give plenty of time for processing/check-in. Not sure if it was person-specific or not, but I felt like I was there forever.... time trap... it didn't help that the loudest family in the world was practically yelling at the check-in area... and the check-in folks have these windows with a small hole you can talk to them through. read more

You know I have really tried with this location. I had planned to leave months ago but have been so busy I haven't found the time. This is my very last review of this place. I don't know what customer service means to this company but I don't think it falls in line with what is the perceived norm. I have come back after a few months to find that the entire management has changed. And not for the better. Your staffing does not know to relate to individuals on a personal level. They (the evening staff in particular) can be very terse whenever you need assistance with anything. I'm sure they are tired at the end of the day and want to go home but customer service never takes a break. The bathrooms are constantly dirty and it takes forever to find someone working at the desk at night even though you can hear people laughing and shouting in the back. From the first interaction when I was shopping around places through the phone- the customer service was no muss no fuss. When arriving and setting up all paperwork- Cloyd was a delight and made what was a hectic transition period in my life much easier. The 24 hour availability to get to your unit, the safe location and the excellent staff is what prompted me to come and review my experience here on yelp. When vacating my unit, I again interacted with Cloyd and also Earnest; both I have to give kudos to for great customer service and their timing and attentiveness are top notch. What a difference two years makes. We were at a different MMS facility, and temporarily moved out. We stayed in touch with them and were told by several people about the updates to the facilities that were being made. We immediately inquired about coming back as our temporary storage solution company, Gotham Mini Storage, was creating safety and criminal-related issues. Wow! So glad we came back! Clean, well-maintained, incredibly professional and well-mannered staff make this location ideal for your storage needs!
