Omg!! This was everything!!! Wish this place was close to home. I need the unicorn. The perfect Ruben. love Rubens if the meat is thin cut tender and lean .. and not messy. I know ...im picky but when its right im making happy sounds as i eat. This was all that. Theres a regular and thin Ruben..this was thin but still tender. Got the soup and 1/2 sandwich combo . Chicken noodle on a cold winter day .... perfect. They brought me a whole sandwich... i questioned it because my husband ordered a whole sandwich. But she said that was the half ..maybe 1/2 the thickness because his was taller. I have small mouth, so wouldn't want tall anyway. I ate all but 3 bites of sandwich. Soooo delicious. The desserts looked very good but we were too full to consider. Fiona was our server and she was also perfect. Very fast friendly...efficient and checked on us without being intrusive. Kept drinks filled. Great experience. Highly recommend.

This Manhattan style deli is a delicious little gem in Lake County, Ohio nestled in the corner of a small plaza in Mentor. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner along with offering a catering service. First, the breakfast is one thing we travel 30 minutes to enjoy. Whatever brand of coffee they serve, my husband and I think it's the best! Always tastes freshly made. The latkas (potato pancake) are the best! Every time I go, I say I'm going to get something else, but I rarely do. They always have latkas on special! Second, the homefries they serve are unique because they use redskin potatoes and slice them and then fry them. This makes them soft and crispy. They are so good. My favorite way to cook them! The waitresses always walk around with 2 pots of coffee (decaf and regular) your coffee never gets cold! Keep up the good work!

I feel like I was totally ripped off!! I know times are hard & that inflation is bad . . . But they had the GALL to charge me $17.99 for a teeny, tiny Reuben that should only be $6 - $7 NOT $18! Places that charge that for a Rueben put 4 times the meat on it! Also, the menu states that it has "Russian" dressing - they sent a packet of THOUSAND ISLAND!! Not the same! I HATE thousand island!! Lastly, they charged $8.95 for their soup, that amounted to a lousy HALF a Cup - with rock-hard carrots & 1 pathetic, mini matzo ball. You SUCK, Manhattan Deli!

    Hamburger night!

Always good. Certainly the best Rueben sandwich around. The potato salad pairs perfectly with it. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Food was ok. Most of the place is outdated but don't mind getting a sandwich to go. Worth the price

You will not be getting a traditional Jewish deli corned beef sandwich like you would have at Corky and Lenny's or at Jack's Deli.

Not great for take out!! Dining in you'll get your money's worth. Best corned beef and the matzo ball soup is inconsistent.

They had a table already so we were seated right away. Ir wasn't packed, there were quite a bit of people in the bar dining room watching the game, but in the main dining room they had plenty of tables and booths open. Everything was clean, and looked inviting. Our waitress Valerie was so pleasant and attentive. I couldn't make up my mind between two dishes and her recommendation for the Chicken Marsala dish was spot on. A couple got Jambalaya and said it was amazing. Portion was so big they took half of it home. My sis in law got a Reuben needed gluten free bread and they were all out of one kind but had a substitute. She said it was a little too sweet with a hint of cinnamon and didn't mesh well with the Reuben so she ate it without the bread. It was good despite that. Nephew got a burger that looked like a skyscraper, he gobbled it up lol. Everything tasted great and we left happy and satisfied. I would definitely come back here for live music on their beautiful patio.

"Hook and Hoof" has been in downtown Willoughby for quite a while so they must be doing something right. And the fact that there aren't that many high level dining establishments in the Willoughby area helps. The first thing I noticed was the facility is very narrow which lends to a crowded feel. And all you need is one overly boisterous table (which was right next to us) and the noise level can be overwhelming. The server we had for the evening was very pleasant. She did a good job being timely with everything. But, it was odd that she often did not listen to an entire request (or maybe just couldn't hear) before walking away. There were a couple of requests for simple standard items that she wasn't even sure they had. I just found it odd. The food however was excellent. The kitchen staff did an exemplary job all night. I had a marvelous cocktail from the well stocked bar. And my double cut pork chop was fantastic. So full of flavor, juicy, cooked exactly as I requested. The sides that accompanied it were just tender enough without being mushy. And my banana cream pie was great. Overall, I give "Hook and Hoof" a solid 4. I definitely can see us going back. They deserve another try. You should give them a try and see for yourself.

The prices were astronomical so my daughter and I just ordered meatballs and potato wedges. I really wanted fish but there was only ONE fish dish on the menu and I didn't like how it was going to be prepared. There's a big disclaimer at the bottom of the menu that says "no substitutions or modifications". Geez, for a $40 fish plate you couldn't have modified it for me?? The meatballs were good, but came out luke warm. The wedges were good. The atmosphere was nice. For 3 meatballs, 5 potato wedges, and a 15% tip (she lost 5% due to not asking us for drinks) our bill came to $45. I *wish* I was joking. We won't be back. I honestly feel like I just got ripped off.
