The Carboholic and the Big Patty from TJs to Go!
    Hesper P.

My wife and I recently drove to this area from Seattle. We have no furniture and are utterly rootless in the area, but we drove past TJs to Go a few times, and decided to check it out. To keep it brief, the service was great, and the food was incredible. To call what I ate a "corned beef sandwich" is to do it a grave injustice - I think it might be the best corned beef I've ever eaten. My Irish ancestors came to me in a vision immediately afterward and told me to write this review, so here I am. My wife had the Carboholic, which is an absurd indulgence made of an eight inch hot dog, a three-cheese baked mac and cheese, fresh bacon, and smoked brisket. She gave me a bite and I was shocked by how well everything went together, but moreso that it managed to not be a totally greasy gut-buster, but an actual well-balanced plate. At one point during our meal, a person I assume to be the proprietor came out and asked how our food was. I learned then that the delicious corned beef I was eating was not boiled, but was slow-roasted for nine hours. Nine hours! They went so far above and beyond for us that when they overheard that we don't have any furniture yet, they handed us a nice chair that someone had left at the restaurant and wished us well. We will take turns sitting in our new chair while we eat our leftovers - don't be fooled by the prices; this is easily a two-stage meal. tl;dr: Great vibes, absurdly good food. Definitely my favorite meal I've had to date in Ohio. You owe it to yourself to try it at least once.

This weekend, I visited him and when he asked where I wanted to eat, I said, "DUH Scooters!" I love hot dogs! We weren't the only ones with that idea, and we had to circle the parking lot several times before finally finding a place to park. After that, we joined a line that stretched out the door. Once it was our turn, we both ordered the 'long' chili dog and got a 'tiny' fry and a banana shake to share. We were lucky enough to find a place to sit at the counter. While we waited I enjoyed the whimsical wall murals and people watching. Once we received our food, I happily dug in. The chili on the hot dog was unique, with corn mixed in. We were warned it would be spicy, but as Texans, we didn't find it spicy at all--though we did think it was quite tasty. The "tiny" order of fries was delicious and definitely not small in our eyes, though after seeing the massive portions others received, I suppose it was. We kept eating and eating them and still couldn't finish them. The banana shake was the perfect ending to our meal. I hope I get to eat at Scooters again. There are other hot dogs I would like to try.

I wondered how many seats would be inside after I watched a long line around the building in the drive thru, but there was enough for a decent group of people. Pricing doesn't seem out of control by any means. Four of us at for 40 bucks. Hot dog wise: I was a bit underwhelmed. There were smaller than expected for a hot dog place and while the mac and cheese dog was good, it wasn't anything over the top at all. Now, if you are a fry eater, this is the place to go. I ordered a regular order of hot fries and they filled an entire plate. I was hoping for better flavor since it seemed like a "specialty" of theirs, but honestly it tasted like any normal type table hot sauce. Even so, if you like fries, you will get a lot of them! Glad we went and if needing something quick, we would go again!

They have a menu with a lot of choices other than hot dogs. Chicken, wraps, salad, fish sandwiches, burgers, and lots of ice cream and slushee choices. Prices seem reasonable and food was made quickly. The new restaurant is very clean and had a similar layout to the past restaurant. You order upon entering and then seat yourself. They call your name when the food is ready. We had an issue with an item in our order but they were quick to fix it.

The real reason for the excitement is bc this place has a crazy DIY, mix and match, build your own dog and tot/fries menu. We had basically just come from another restaurant (I say basically to soften the blow but we did, in fact, leave a restaurant before embarking on the walk to come to this place. If we weren't kinda full from that, we could have provided a more legitimate showing. GF was grossed out by the thought of other food but I was not going to succumb to the satiety Gods. I perused the menu thoroughly. I wanted something that kind of resembled a Polish boy so I went with classic slaw and bbq sauce. I added pickle relish and pimento mac and cheese for good measure. Love the vegan options (two dogs, vegan chili, there was a vegan cheese if memory serves. Some of the other options and I kid you not were spaghetti o's and peanut butter. There was literally an entire page worth. I was really planning on only having a taste but you know I ate basically the entire thing. It was spectacular. I have no other words. Worth a stop, without a doubt.
