Place is stuck in the 80's with subpar food and outdated appearance. I get it's an institution in Mentor but I'll never understand why. Ordered the chili and it was thick and just awful. My granddaughters ordered the chicken wraps and they liked them. They were like $14 a piece with no sides so they ordered the cottage fries and those are yuck. Granddaughters didn't even like them. "Yours Truly" is a convenient, easy going, spur of the moment place to go. Sometimes my wife and I get home and just are not motivated to prepare dinner. "Yours Truly" is the quick fix. I really like hot dogs (I know they're not the healthiest thing to eat). Not a lot of places offer them. I don't eat a lot at a single sitting. Rather than 3 big meals per day I would rather have 5 small ones. "Yours Truly" fits the bill. A hot dog, a shared order of fries and a $1 sunday with a cup of coffee and I'm good. Their restaurant in Mentor is always available. The young people always do an admirable job. I like it. So I'll keep going. You should give them a try. read more

Stopped by for take out. Restaurant was not busy but took extra time for my order to be ready. I did enjoy the artichoke appetizer but the General Tso's chicken was horrible. The mac n cheese taste lke Velveeta so if that's your thing, you will love it. Haven't tried the veggies yet. They look uninspired. A hard pass for me in the future. It's been several years since we have been to a Yours Truly restaurant. So on a whim, we thought we would stop by. It was very disappointing. Our server was not good. She was friendly, but although that is part of being a good server...delivering the food on time And making sure your meal is complete is just as important! The food was subpar. The burgers we got were very dry and flavorless. The cottage fries were also flavorless. We had to wait for anything that we asked for for way too long! By the time you finally got what you requested you were pretty much done with your food. My husband got a chocolate milkshake and asked for it to be delivered when we had our meal and it did not come until the very end of our meal. Not happy about that. It was also so cold in the restaurant that others sitting around were also complaining about the cold. Yours Truly used to be a good place, but this experience for us means that we will not be back. read more

This restaurant is slipping. The place was completely full at noon on a Wednesday. However, the restaurant was dirty and dusty. Thick dust and smudgy glass in the booth area... not at all appealing. Chicken sandwich had quite thick crispy skin which tasted good, but there was not that much actual chicken. Wrinkle fries tasted not-so-good. Oil gave the potatoes an unusual and nasty flavor. Let me start by saying The staff here was great. They were nice. They were friendly. They were genuine. Each one. But they weren't enough to make up for limited and poor choices on the menu. Nothing jumped out as Oh, I need to try that. I ordered the Notso Omelette. It was Notso good. It had no flavor to speak off. There were no spices. The eggs tasted not right. May have been from a powder. The hash browns in the omelette were undercooked and the other ingredients were just there. I ate less than half. My wife got French toast that looked unappetizing, like egg dipped disappointment. She said it was ok. (I didn't try it, so ?) Again. The staff made the place enjoyable. Lackluster service and food here for lunch. They don't seem to be prepared to accomodate people with disabilities either. I ordered a chicken sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. At almost $7 for the side, I was expecting homemade Mac and cheese, not Kraft Mac and cheese. The sandwich was lack luster as well. During a recent trip to visit my husband's family in Ohio, one of his sisters recommended we all meet at yours truly for breakfast. We were a large group and I was so pleasantly amazed at the great level of service we got from our waitress! (Sorry I wish I remembered her name!) We were the party of 10 on Sunday. I'm from Texas and had never heard of yours truly, I was just along for the ride. But wow, I had the eggs with hash and an English muffin and it was all so yummy! My husband had the Reuben burger and it was also delicious! Like I mentioned our waitress was so patient with our large group and our needs she was a complete angel! Stopped in for breakfast this morning. It was very busy, but there was seating at the bar, so we chose that so we could be immediately seated. The waitress immediately asked what we wanted to drink, she quickly returned with unsweetened tea and coffee for both of us. We both ordered the Barcelona Omelette, which is an open faced two egg omelette with Jalapeños, salsa and Jack cheese. The jalapeños were a little too hot for my wife but I liked them. We both had sides of toast. My wife also had a side of bacon and I had the monster hash as my side. It was hash browns with onions and green peppers and then covered with cheddar cheese. We were tired and hungry when we stopped in at the end of the breakfast hour, but we were welcomed and served a great fresh meal with perfect eggs (I'm picky) and the best bacon we've ever had (my fiancé grew up on a farm where his family raised hogs, and he was so impressed, he had to find out where the restaurant purchased its bacon). My wife & I regularly have brunch @ YTR on the weekends when shopping in Mentor, primarily for the gluten-free pancakes that my wife says are excellent. We customarily order from the breakfast menu with my favorite being the Killit Skillet which is well-portioned & reasonably priced. The timing of our visits usually requires a 10 to 20 minute wait due to YTR's popularity. This can also add to the noise level & seating in high traffic areas at the front of the dining room. Service can also range from fair to excellent depending upon demand as it would at most restaurants. One enjoyable seasonal option is outside dining on the covered patio. Unfortunately, northeastern Ohio weather can limit this option to about 60 days per year & may change with only 5 minutes notice. But when the weather is nice, it is quite pleasant. read more

I've been going to Yours Truly ever since I was a kid, so at least for 14 years I've eaten here fairly regularly. The servers are always incredible and friendly, and the food is always great. Definitely one of the best breakfast places around, and I've always appreciated how fantastic the service is. However, the manager on July 4th (older woman with shoulder length hair) was rude and unprofessional. For the past few years, I've brought my dog on the patio (she is a small, well behaved dog (around 10 pounds) who is always leashed and stays under our table, and does not bark or go potty on the patio, etc.)--I always verify by calling beforehand to make sure we can bring dogs to any restaurant's outdoor seating, and the yours truly hostesses have always happily stated that dogs are more than welcome outside. The last few times I've brought my dog has been absolutely amazing--the hosts, servers, and even other staff have come out with water bowls, dog treats, and just to pet my dog. This last time though, the manager gave us attitude and said that dogs aren't allowed. I understand if a restaurant changes a policy, and I wouldn't be a Karen about it. But it was strange because she asked patrons dining outside if we could have our dog on the patio as we eat--and she only asked one couple out of the total 6 people that were eating on the patio by us? They said "you're the manager so it's up to you"...She allowed us to have our dog eat with us anyways (said that "for today, your dog can be a service dog")--and overall made us feel really unwelcome. I just found the whole thing to be weird that she would even ask customers about a decision that should be a decided restaurant policy. I don't care if a random couple doesn't want a dog on the patio, who the heck are they to make the decision? If yours truly doesn't want dogs on the patio anymore, that's totally fine by me. But that decision should be a firm policy, not something that you unprofessionally ask certain customers about while we stand with my little dog awkwardly waiting for someone to make up their mind. Overall, not a fan of whoever that manager was, and she should be more welcoming and professional if she wants customers to continue to visit this location. Additionally, her attitude got me thinking about the tacky sign out front, so I'll bring that up in this review as well. The sign reads "work here, eat free"...I'm sorry but it's 2021...that's the amazing incentive your leadership is using to try to get people to apply? Just sad...do better read more

Chicken tenders tasted like the freezer, the sweet potatoes were still kinda hard on the inside and paired with thick overly sweet sauce, the buffalo sauce was obviously from a bottle, the cheese tasted like Kraft singles. I don't know why people love this place. I always hear good things and I used to like it when I lived here 20 years ago but the few times I've gone recently have been very disappointing. We ordered the Monte Cristo tonight and the French toast bread was dense, chewy and soggy. The meat was good but the bread ruined it. Especially when paying over $13 for the sandwich and fries. The salad and cheeseburger were good though. This place is just not worth it and I don't know why I keep giving it a chance. Seems like the place is starting to go downhill......... I have no issues with the food. Overall the food is wonderful. Consistently good. My concern (that I have previously shared with the management) is the restrooms. I cannot speak towards the ladies' room but the mens' room needs attention. My main concern is that if the restrooms are in such poor cleanliness and repair, what does the kitchen look like? The tiles near the floor are cracked, and black mold is plentiful. The one toilet's seat is loose and makes it difficult to put a toddler on a potty that moves.... The one urinal will run constantly. But it's useable. The twin sinks back up and the dirty water that I washed my hands with just won't go down. The door and door handle is very dirty and I just feel like I got dirtier just by going into the restroom. The place could really use a good cleaning...looks like cleanliness is an afterthought. Entryway is filthy. Hasn't been cleaned in some time. Service -- great. I won't be going back until they decide to do some cleaning. read more

I am truly very fond of Yours Truly. It has a lovely diner-esque atmosphere that is on the classier side of that realm without being pretentious. I never come here with just my family, but it's a really nice place to meet up with friends for brunch and a mimosa. The servers are ALWAYS friendly and welcoming, even joining in on a conversation you might be having while waiting. They greet you with a smile and are always ready with a coffee refill (the coffee isn't bad either!). Mentor has my favorite Yours Truly staff compared to the others as well. Because the wait times can be insane during breakfast/lunch/church rush (trust me - you do not want to be anywhere near that building at 9-11am on Sundays), I usually only come during off times. We didn't have any wait at 8am on Saturday (I would rather have been sleeping too.. but the notso fries..) or at 2pm on weekends. If you come at any other time, prepare for a 50 min wait. The kid-watching can be pretty cute while you're waiting, though, if you are a kid-person. I AM IN ¡LOVE! With YT's Notso Fries. I could eat them for every meal and have broken many a diet for them. I have even ordered both the notso omelet and notso fries for the same meal because I am insane and obsessed. I also really love their eggs bruschetta as a light changeup from my normal Sunrise. Yours Truly adds such character to Mentor's community, and I will continue to go when I have time to wait for an hour to get seated! read more

While in Mentor my wife and I decided to try this restaurant whilst out and about on President's Day. After almost 1/2 hour wait we were seated. Our waitress made contact with us and took our drink order, the place was definitely busy we noticed as we waited for our drinks. After another substantial wait my wife noticed other tables that were seated after us were getting their food and were already eating! A manager came to our table and apologized for the long wait and our waitress apologized as well. Finally we receive our food order and dig in...I was famished! I ordered some flash fried chicken and an order of fries. It came with a bleu cheese dipping sauce. Unfortunately the dipping sauce came with a foreign piece of plastic or paper, (it was covered with the sauce and I didn't have my forensic kit with me), so naturally I'm not going to touch anything else on my plate! The manager was notified & she stated, she would comp my meal. She confiscated the foreign piece. My wife's hash looked like it was just thrown on the plate no crust whatsoever. As my wife asked for a to go container because I indicated I was done, she quickly snatched both of our plates off the table and disappeared to the kitchen. We were left sitting at our table with no further attention being paid to us. So we assumed that this was their version of resolving the issue. We left without any further explanation, communication or interaction with anyone related to the restaurant. Horrible customer service, rude manager and horrible food quality! read more

Food is good; service is hit/miss. The seating is 'meh'. I have a friend who is obsessed with sitting at a booth (perplexing) and she isn't tiny. The booths are terrible! The tables are too large and depending upon a woman's height, they may hit your ribs awkwardly. The food is very good. Not sure why there is so much dead space between booths or why the booth tables are so large...I saw people who had to ensure the table was diagonal. I would hope the owners would remedy this issue as the food IS good. read more

The eggs Benedict were very good. Hollandaise sauce was very good and plentiful. You could taste the lemon. Eggs were cooked perfectly. The only issue was the English muffins weren't toasted. It comes with shredded hash browns that were crispy. read more
