Mango Tree has amazing sushi. They have a wide variety of rolls, sashimi, and nigiri. There are many other entree options that are not sushi including noodles, noodle bowls and rice. We always order takeout but we went in on New Years for dinner. The decor is a lot more chic than a typical sushi restaurant. Very clean and modern. We got the soft shell crab appetizer which was great. I got the shrimp tempura roll and the soft shell crab roll as well as salmon nigiri - they were all very good. This is a cute little restaurant with very friendly staff, tucked away in an indistinct, forgettable strip center. There are absolutely NO decent Thai restaurants near us, and Mango Tree fit the bill just fine. We started off with their veggie spring rolls, and they were good. Nothing superlative in presentation or flavor, but still very tasty. We also ordered sushi: two pieces of Nigiri tuna, shrimp tempura and spicy tuna rolls. The sushi was DELICIOUS, we absolutely loved the rolls. My husband ordered the Thai garlic chicken with rice and enjoyed it. I had the chicken Pad Sew Ew and it was a nice hearty portion and the individual components were nicely prepared (e.g., tender chicken, bright green and al dente broccoli). The only drawback about my dish was that it was so, so salty, almost unbearably so. I love salty foods and this was way too salty for me. Mango Tree is the best Thai / Sushi place around. I have dined in several times and ordered take out a bunch and the food is always fast, fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. The employees are friendly too! The sweet potato sushi roll is a personal favorite and the pad Thai is always good. Came here after we did something in the area, and wasn't sure what to expect. Now I'm a little sad I don't live closer! Appetizers were a little small but packed with taste. Fried calamari wasn't too special but we enjoyed the mango dipping sauce. We also got a tuna tataki, which was very flavorful and fresh. We enjoyed it and wished we got more sushi, but there was only two of us! I was craving noodles, and this really hit the spot. I ordered the thick noodles off the thai street food menu. Their mango curry was also amazing, I was able to spread out the leftovers for 2 days and I miss it already. I wish it had a little more shrimp, but it had a good amount of chicken. On a recent Thursday I met a very good friend here for lunch, because I was craving sushi and she was craving Thai - their menu offered both. Pulling up to the quiet suburban strip mall I was not expecting a very good experience, but upon entering I was very impressed at the ambiance the restaraunt managed to create - hand painted mango trees on the wall, chic tables and chairs, soft music, truly made you forget where you just parked. At around 130 the place was pretty busy, with an even mix of college kids, business lunches, old friends, and even one midsize family, but the service seemed to keep up perfectly, everyone got their food quickly enough to eat and return to their day (or linger and relax if they so felt). Now, on to the food! At lunch time everything you order gets the "soup of the day", which as far as I know is just always miso soup, but that's alright because I'm a pretty big fan of miso soup. There's is very salty and hearty, with a few pieces of tofu and some sliced green onion floating at the top. Not anything I would go out of my way to get, but definitely appreciated on a cold and rainy day. My friend ordered the chicken thai spicy with brown rice, and 2 orders of sashimi style shrimp with extra ginger. I had the sashimi bento box - chicken gyoza, vegetable pad thai, 6 pieces of sashimi, a small salad, and a few pieces of fruit. They did an excellent job preparing everything to arrive at the same time, both our cooked dishes hot, both the cold dishes cold. She loved her CTS, despite ordering a 1 (on their scale that goes 0-3) on the heat, it had a good level of spice, lots of veggies, and really tender chicken. I didn't snap a pic of the shrimp sashimi, but they were served up on pretty square plate and a single piece of leaf lettuce, with a heaping MOUND of ginger... I mean she did say extra ginger and they obliged! My bento box? Excellent! I love bento boxes, just for the sheer quantity and range of food, being able to get a little sample of multiple menu items for a good price, and especially coming in on a long day where I hadn't eaten since a very early breakfast, this bento box was just what I needed. The sashimi was an excellent selection, each piece being a good warm, room temperature to reflect that it had been recently worked (and I didn't notice any sweet taste that another reviewer has mentioned), and there was a good range of pieces available. They were all good, but the fatty tuna was spectacular, that's a slice of sashimi that I find to be so indulgent, and not one I would expect to be placed in a lunch bento box (typically a higher cost selection). Gyozas were good, if not spectacular, though I'm a hard judge of such things, rarely eating fried food to begin with, they had just enough chicken in them to keep the wrapper from being the predominant taste, but I wouldn't order them on their own. I was, however, pretty disappointed with the dressing on the (very beautifully made and presented) salad. It was strong, overly applied, and had a slightly unpleasant ting of mint to the ginger. It wasn't bad enough that I would complain by any means, but it really did detract from the "light crisp" purpose of a salad in the bento box. My favorite aspect though, is hands down the veggie pad thai - this is pure comfort food at it's finest. And Mango Tree did it right. A ton of veggies stirfried into a mass of thin noodles, chopped nuts giving a satisfying crunch, and a coyingly sweet-savory sauce that just begs you to dive in. The service matched the food, with the waitress being ever attentive and boxing up our togos quickly and efficiently. Price? While I spent more on lunch than I had really planned, we got a lot of food, a soda, and tipped, for just under $35. With this kind of quality, you can't beat that value. read more

Seriously, I don't think it'd have been any less exciting if a new Bob Evans had opened in Mariemont than yet another mediocre, paint-by-the-numbers East Side Thai/sushi restaurant like Mango Tree. I've spilled much cyberink on Yelp complaining about the interchangeable and not-great Thai/sushi restaurants of Hyde Park/Oakley/Mt. Lookout. This one's worse. The basil squid entree that I ordered was one of the drabbest and skimpiest plates of food I've seen in a restaurant in a long time. A watery, dull-as-dishwater sauce, with undercooked veggies, too much broccoli, and too few pieces of rather mushy, probably undercooked squid. Incredibly bland for a cuisine like Thai. And the portion size at $11.95 was disappointingly small for a restaurant this casual and for a dish whose caloric content was probably 92 percent rice, broccoli, and carrots. Wife ordered a red curry with fried tofu. This was a little bit better: the curry was bolder and better balanced than the basil sauce. But still, the curry was about as thin as skim milk, which isn't very appealing. (I had the leftovers and actually had to drink part of it because it was so liquified that the rice wouldn't even soak it up.) We ordered some veggie dumplings that weren't too bad. They had a nice mushroomy, umami flavor to them. Generally, the menu is all too typical for these places, featuring the small lineup of Thai standards and the stripped-down, predictable sushi menu you get in these places. (We didn't try any of the sushi, but I almost never order it in these Thai/sushi places.) Service was fine. Mango Tree's decor is slick and clean but pretty plain; there are no wall-hangings and little to no color to speak of. (The chairs are very comfortable, though!) And my seat was positioned so that the only thing I cold see other than my wife across the table was the inside of a gloomy storage room that separates the dining area from the kitchen. Maybe I should have snuck in there and rummaged around for some spices for my entree. So, where is the nearest Bob Evans? read more

Mango Tree is one of the many good Thai places who will hold their own water if they are not located in Cincinnati. Cincinnati has some excellent Thai places to offer with consistent quality, large portion sizes and good ambiance. Mango tree offers all of these things but a little less than others! The food is actually very good. They have good attentive staff. There were not many people in the restaurant when we visited but overall nice clean establishment. Overall good experience but I will not repeatedly visit this place. A good restaurant for Thai food but there are certainly better options within 10 miles. read more

Very nice place, really liked the clean simple decor. My wife and I went here for our anniversary and shared a Mango tree roll and the Spicy tuna, which was not spicy, both were excellent. Since she doesn't like curry I ordered the Khao Soi Gai, yummy curry sauce with chicken and noodles, delicious! My wife had the steamed white fish with ginger over steamed vegetables, very fresh, the fish was incredible, so delicate. This was my husband's first time trying thai food and he was a little skeptical. I read all the reviews about this place we pass daily on the way home from work and convinced him to stop. So glad we did!! When we arrived we were the only 2 people there,(about 5:40)it started filling up quickly. I have never had thai iced tea but I like to try new things. Sooo good and refreshing! The waitress was sweet and all our food came out very quickly and was hot. I had the Pineapple fried rice and my husband had the Mango tree fried rice. You are in for a delightful Thai experience at Mango tree ! Theirs is a small but cozy spot in Mariemont. The place can be quite crowded on a weekend. They have quite a few vegetarian options and the their vegetable dumpling appetizer was pretty good, no complaints. Both the pineapple fried rice and yellow curry that we ordered was delightful. Cold thai tea was the perfect accompaniment for the hot/spicy food. The mango icecream is probably the only item that did not quite hit the mark for us. Otherwise this place should be on the must-visit list of restaurants for Thai food lovers or anybody that wants to enjoy good food !! read more

My mom, our friend, and I had a great experience today at Mango Tree. We ended up here after finding great reviews on Yelp after the original spot we were meeting for lunch didn't work out. We arrived at about 1120 and the restaurant was empty besides one or two Thales. However by the time we left around 12, it was filling up. The service was great and the food was to. They have an affordable lunch menu with lots of variety, and plenty of vegetarian options. The 2 waitresses on duty were friendly and always made sure our glasses were full with water and soda. My mom and I shared the vegetable cashew nut stir fry and it was the perfect amount of food for us. We added on the spring roll for 1.50 and it was one of the best spring rolls we have ever had. The dipping sauce that came with it was sooo good. The cashew nut stir fry was great, but I did wish it had more pieces of pineapple in it. However they definitely did not skimp on the cashews, which was awesome! We didn't care for the miso soup that came with the lunch, but that's okay. Our friend ordered the green curry with mixed seafood and seemed to like it. Overall, we really enjoyed this unassuming little restaurant in a small strip mall in Mariemont. Avoid at all costs! A friend and I went here for dinner tonight to catch up as she's been traveling a ton for work. The owner came to our table and asked if we needed a box as we had been talking and hadn't eaten hardly any of our food. I told him no, sorry we've been talking a ton and that was the reason we hadn't touched our food. He looked at me and rudely said, just say no when I ask you or not. I stopped and said excuse me and he walked off. The waitress asked if everything was ok and I said no. I informed her of what happened and what was said and she apologized but said she couldn't do anything because he was the owner. He returned after hearing me say this to her and said he didn't understand why I felt that way and I informed him that he was rude and that's not how you communicate with people especially if they are customers. He walked off shaking his head saying sorry. I also want to mention that he continued to walk past our table staring and wanting us to leave. Needless to say that we did leave and didn't take our food with us. This was the absolute worst experience that I've had in cincy and I will be sure to share this with other people who are relocating to the area. Please avoid this place at all costs. read more

Other members of my group had the mango tree fried rice, crab fried rice, and crispy pad Thai - of those three the mango tree fried rice was the favored dish. Nestled in a strip center right outside of Old Mariemont sits this fantastic little Thai and Sushi restaurant. I will admit that I was disappointed with the ambiance due to the strip center location but once we stepped inside, I was relieved. It's small, but wasn't overly crowded. The menu boasts of an amazing selection from sushi to a wide variety of Thai dishes. I didn't notice a cocktail drink menu but they do offer wine and beer. Our service was phenomenal the food was absolutely delicious. I had spicy Thai chicken and it was simply perfect. I would love to go back and to be honest, if this place was in Montgomery ( where I live) I would most likely eat there quite often. read more

First Sushi in well over 9 months and it was worth the wait. Aside from the Sushi, the Mango Curry is phenomenal, perfect combination of sweet and spicy. My fiancé's only complaint is he'd like more chicken, less shrimp. We tried the super food roll with brown rice and sweet potato and unfortunately for me it "just ok". I felt like it was lacking some flavor, albeit I understood the concept it needed something else for me. However their Shrimp Tempura Roll made up for it. Their eel sauce is hands down the best. I'm not sure where the reviewers of this restaurant have ever had sushi, but this is some of the most awful sushi I have ever consumed, and that includes things that I have bought out of a cooler at the grocery store. The fish is old-tasting and very low quality. The ginger is not fresh. The egg-drop soup has frozen peas and carrots in it, and the eggs in it are rubbery. The BEST part of the meal is some good, spicy wasabi. OH! And the worst part-you'll pay extremely high prices for what should be in a grocer's cooler for $5.99. I've paid less for sushi that was caught yesterday, prepared by sushi chefs that rotate out of Japan every 6 months. Stick to something, ANYTHING, other than sushi Mango Tree. read more

Kind of have a love hate relationship with this place after my first experience. See below for explaination. Some friends and I came to Mango Tree one Saturday evening to get some sushi and stir fry after hearing good feedback from friends. We came in at about 6 that evening with plans to head to a far out german festival after. Within 15 minutes of entering we ordered our food, several sushi roles and a stir fry, and settled in with our drinks. Following that we waited, waited and waited some more and watched as our waitress began to slowly avoided our table. Finally, after about an hour and 15 minutes our sushi came out. Being the polite people we are, 3 of us waited to eat our sushi because our friend hadn't gotten her stir fry yet. Another 20 or so minutes passed and finally I spoke up to inquire about the stir fry. Luckily 15 minutes later, ravinous by that point, her stir fry finally came out and we began attacking our food...all while waiting for one more dish that arrived shortly there after. Happily for us the food, especially the sushi, was amazing but to our chargrin our evening plans ended up ruined because of the amount of time we spent waiting in the restaurant. I spoke to them after our meal about the wait and how I wasn't pleased and they did agree to take a perentage off our bill. They explained that that evening in particular they had had a lot of take out orders. I hope going forward they learn to manage take out and dine in orders more efficiently because as I said, the food was amazing, so much so that I'm willing to forgo a low star rating even after the poor experience.
