On father's day while looking to try a place i have not been too before I decided to try Manee Thai in Ballwin, located in the Dierbergs plaza at Sulphur springs and Manchester rd. The decor is nicely dine and restaurant has a nice comfortable vibe. The staff friendly and inviting. I decided to try the cashew stir fry $14.95 with tofu and brown rice. There is a 2.95 upharged for the brown rice. The food arrived very colorful and very tasty. The veggies were fresh and the tofu cooked very well. I am happy that I decided to try Manee thai.and if you are ever in the ballwin area and looking for a good meal I suggest you stop in. read more

went today. it was so bad. ordered tempura shrimp. the shrimp was awful, not cleaned and just soaked in a sweet sugary sauce. the drunken noodle was soaking in a dark brown salty sauce and hardly any noodles. I am so glad I tried this place! First I tried the winter fresh roll and wow!!!! Absolutely delicious , fresh and just perfect. I did order peanut sauce for it doesn't come with it but believe me it's worth it! I also tried the curry gyoza yummy!!!! Try it!! For the main course I had the Shrimp yellow curry spice level 1 but it was still spicy. The flavor was delicious with plenty of potatoes and shrimp. The service is great and super friendly! Service was quick and friendly. Surprisingly easy to get a table at 6pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was well decorated with a Thai theme. The food was good. We got Thai steamed spring rolls, they were delicious. The Pad Thai and Pineapple Fried Rice both came out piping hot and tasted good. The part of the meal that impressed me the most was the price. With numerous places in STL raising their prices or reducing their portion sizes to cut costs, Manee Thai's dishes were still reasonably priced and served in large portions. WOW! We have recently discovered Manee Thai, which has been in Manchester in the Dierberg's center at Manchester & Baxter, for many many years. AMAZING food! Barb Gai... soooooo good... Ceviche is seafood that is "cooked" with the citrus juice and other ingredients. Larb gai is similar, insofar as Manee Thai's awesome flavors in the sauce "cook" the chicken without using heat... served with lettuce, for making wraps - WOW!!! our daughter and I have split a couple entrees, and we recommend: - crispy spring rolls - chicken and broccoli - beef spicy basil - flavorful spicy, not burn-your-mouth Seating - we enjoyed the patio on a beautiful afternoon before seeing the US Navy Blue Angels; on another day we enjoyed the well decorated inside. Four of us went to have dinner. It was crowded but they were working hard. I ordered pad Thai with chicken. The flavor was great but the chicken was very chewy, stringy & very hard to cut. I feel bad because I wasn't at my picture taking best for some reason. First off, I ordered the Thai Steamed Dumplings to share with the table. I cut each one in half, so there ended up being 8 pieces. NOM! Next, I shared a Papaya Salad with a friend. It was delicious! I sipped on my St. Louis Sling while waiting for my meal and it was pretty good too. I ordered the Lemon Grass Teriyaki Pork and it was GREAT. The pork was tasty and not dry. The veggies were cooked perfectly. My friend ordered the Purple Rice Pudding and let me try a little and it was awesome! All the food was great, the service was good, and the ambiance was nice. The staff was extremely friendly but this was absolutely the worst Thai food I've eaten EVER. In fact, I ate a few bites of everything then threw it all away. I've never had such strange tasting food. And I've never seen BLACK Pad se ew. It was like nothing I've ever seen. It was fairly dry and the noodles were black, the shrimp almost black. I ordered the Thai dumpling appetizer, which are difficult to describe. The word that comes to mind is chaotic with an bizarre mixture of "embellishments" for lack of a better word. And the dumpling wrappers were disintegrating. The appetizer of Larb Gai was in a wimpy, odd tasting sauce with iceberg lettuce leaves that were little more than shreds. I can see why this place is always so full. Lunch set with a variety of entree choices features your main course, a cup of soup, a "cheese angel" (rangoon), and a fried spring roll. Everything was delicious, service was exceptional, and prices cannot be beat. While relatively small and cramped, the interior is well decorated and very, very clean. This is a great place for Pad Thai. I only wish we had tried this spot out sooner. My husband and I both ordered Chicken Pad Thai: mine was mild, his was a heat level 2. Right at the corner of our street and certainly a regular place we visit. Not just because they are convenient but because they check all the boxes on what a good restaurant is. From the good food to the attentive staff to the cleanliness to the speed and accuracy of the kitchen. The food has always been good. If you call ahead to order for pick up their quoted time is always spot on. They have a good system going on over there. Make sure you can handle some heat in your pahd Thai and other like dishes. You can get it 1-5 spicy and when you order 2 spicy its got a nice heat to it but in your next order of 2 spicy that shit will burn the hairs off the bottom of your feet. Two small negative points. I understand we now live in a world of food delivery but as you walk in almost all the space to your left is taken up by door dash, uber eats, etc. It needs not be so front and center as you come in, I'm sure some other setup could be put in place. The second small point is practically the same issue. On the opposite of the restaurant you have all the go-to boxes and accessories. I wish, more than anything right now, that I could go back in time to take pictures of the amazing meal I had tonight. Sadly, there was no photo op because I was too hungry and the food was simply too delicious. To start off, the service was amazing. Our waiter was funny, witty, and seemed to read our minds when it came to how spicy we wanted our meals. They even use a 1-5 scale on each menu item to make sure that the food comes out exactly as you expect it. I noticed before we walked in that they had a sign posted stating that they were short staffed and asked for patience and understanding. I wouldn't have ever known because our waiter seemed to know all the right times to check in on us. We started off with drinks and the appetizer platter. Our waiter had asked how many portions we wanted - he said they don't usually serve it for 3 people but that he would for us. My two friends had glasses of singha and I had a mai tai. My drink was served in an tall, elegant glass with an umbrella, fresh pineapple, and a tasty cherry. My friends were both envious. The appetizer platter came with pork dumplings, chicken satay, fried spring rolls, and "cream cheese angels" (their take on cream cheese Rangoon). Oh, and 4 different sauces to try -- all delicious. For our entrees, we had two orders of pad thai (one with tofu and one with chicken) along with drunken noodles with chicken. We got a great value for what we spent, none of us were able to finish our plates no matter how badly we wanted to. I came here for lunch on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised that they had lunch specials even for weekends. My friends and I all ordered the pad thai lunch specials which comes with a delicious soup and egg roll with dipping sauce. My tofu pad thai was a tad bit on the sweet side, so I ended up adding lots of chili sauce to balance the sweetness out. I also wish there was more tofu in the dish, but the portion size was otherwise just right and I came away with a happy full belly. We randomly found this place on the map and decided to try it. I got the stir fry cashew shrimp and it was even better than I imagined . It came with peppers, onions, carrots, zucchini, cashews and cabbage each individually cooked perfectly and they did not hold back their shrimp servings.
