Multiple rolls - salmon avocado, California, Asparagus, spicy tuna, crunchy roll and dynamite roll... all wonderful and on the all-you-can-eat menu. And for one of the first times we ordered a roll that is on the regular menu; it's our wedding anniversary so we ordered a Forever Roll - king crab (real not imitation), tuna, jalapeños, wonderful sauce... and since we're gluten free (gf), Lan had the chefs not put on the crunchy toppings - this was great! We love the green tea ice cream and, in honor of our anniversary, Kevin brought desert of the green tea ice cream and a slice of the most wonderful chocolate cake... you outdid yourself again, Kevin - THANK YOU!!! We just got takeout from Kabuki Thai & Sushi, and overall, we were pretty impressed! This restaurant is located only a couple miles from our new house, and we are suckers for Asian cuisine. We placed a takeout order and it was ready in 15 minutes. The staff were super friendly when I came to pick it up, even cracking jokes about me misspelling the pickup name. The Pad Thai was delicious. It definitely leaned on the sweeter side, which may not be for everyone, but we really enjoyed it. The chicken was especially good--it tasted super fresh and like actual, good-quality chicken rather than the bland or processed-tasting chicken you sometimes get with takeout. The hibachi steak & chicken was phenomenal. The meat was so tender and had a really nice flavor. The sauce was sweet, but thankfully not cloying or overly heavy. This was probably our favorite thing we ordered and something we'd absolutely get again. The appetizer sampler was probably the weakest part of the meal. The crab Rangoon and chicken satay were both pretty dry and could have used a little more moisture. That said, the shrimp roll was super tasty and made up for some of the disappointment with the other appetizers. Overall, Kabuki Thai & Sushi was a good experience. I wanted to write a good review, I really did, but the all you can eat sushi was so full of rice it wasn't enjoyable. It was like eating balls of rice with some meat inside. That and it was more like a pate rolled up in rice rather than raw fish. Maybe that last part is my fault, but I thought I ordered the right thing. And it was impossible paying for my order. After waiting for fifteen minutes after receiving the check, I had to go track someone down to pay. I'd also add the music choice was pretty over the line, especially if you have kids. Eminem and Shaggy make not family friendly music. Other than that, the atmosphere wasn't bad and service was generally friendly, but I don't have a reason to return when there are so many other sushi places. read more

Our first time having dinner at Kabuki! Plenty of seating available and they had a good sized round table for our party of 6. I saw a few other big tables as well. Food was pretty good! The appetizers we got weren't outstanding but good (crab Rangoon, stuffed jalepenos, seafood salad). The specialty sushi rolls were really good. Service was okay. The male server we had was quite nice and friendly but both servers seemed quite rushed despite the restaurant not being busy. They came to ask us for our order multiple times when we had been seated for not too long, so we felt a bit rushed. The appetizers came out very quickly but the rolls took a very long time to come out. Overall, food was good but service could use some work. They're located in the small plaza right in front of the Ballwin target. Parking lot is not huge but there is plenty of space during dinner times as the nearby shops are closed. read more

I ordered this through DoorDash so I have no opinion on service and interior design, but wow! One of the crappiest food I've ever ordered for a Japanese curry Katsu. Sauce is super soupy. It isn't thick as it's supposed to be. It's literally watery. Katsu is extremely dry. There wasn't enough rice as it's in a Chinese container box (weird, isn't it supposed to be Japanese or Thai food? Major disappointing. I don't know if it's worth going there again to eat in person. A friend sent a DoorDash bday gift to my family and me. Only if I had known before would I have deterred them not to order from this place. This restaurant is truly disgusting. I have no idea how they're still in business and how people still come here. There are many better sushi and Thai restaurants within miles of this place. I ended up at Kabuki Sushi & Thai on Christmas day for dinner. They had a very nice crowd in here considering it was a major holiday and a pretty low key small restaurant. My dinner date is vegan and they did a decent job accommodating him but I don't think they fully understood what vegan means. We ordered a tofu appetizer, several vegetable maki rolls, and an order of pad thai with no egg, no fish sauce, and tofu as the protein. Everything was good. I think it would have been better had we not omitted all of the flavorful ingredients. I think they have a great menu. Some of the rolls were fun and creative. I'll be back! read more

I went with the all-you-can-eat lunch for $15 - miso soup (3.75/5): pretty decent. Traditional. - Thai spring rolls (3.75/5): serving of 3. Seemed freshly made vs frozen. Lots of cabbage. Decent. - tempura shrimp roll: (4.25/5) really good. I would order this again. - yellowtail spicy roll: (3.25/5) Ok. Not spicy. Texture of the fish knocked it back for me. We arrived at 6pm on a Sunday. The place was almost empty. We had three rolls which were okay. We also ordered the spicy tuna wontons. They tasted like canned tuna that had been fried in a wonton wrap. Really bad but whatever. Now it's 6:40 and we had a couple drinks, we were finishing our food, and the waiter asked us to move so he could seat a large group of college girls. The place was still fairly empty but apparently he wanted our spot. At that point we just asked for the check and left. He asked about our dinner and I told him about the wontons which he offered to remove and I agreed. However he did not remove them and asked me again. At that point we just paid and left. Placed an online order for three appetizers. There is an order received text message stating that it's a thirty minutes wait. I arrived 10 minutes early expecting to wait. But my order was bagged and ready, the only one visable on the end of the counter, no other customers were inside. She asked for the name on the order, I responded and spelled out my name. She then read off the order number so quickly, I thought it was my phone number. She frustrated, loudly read it off two more times. Stormed away and then back, pointed at the number and said I can just confirm the food listed is what I ordered. All that within a moment of walking in. As a first time customer I didn't appreciate being yelled at when it was obviously my food from my name and lack of other orders. As for the food. This may be the type of place that somethings are great and others are meh. I must have ordered the meh. The tofu was way too thick, had no scallions which were listed on the description. If it had bonito flakes I didn't see or taste them. The rangoons were small but okay. The Thai spring rolls were as expected but also small. So small I ate them before I thought to take a picture. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! my only request, and why I didn't leave 5 stars is because of the prawns in my Tom Kha soup. if you half cooked the prawns and threw three them is right before service, the heat from the broth would finish them off instead of making them dry and rubbery. We are new to the area and decided to get something for takeout. We came here and got a whole bunch of food for the entire family. The kids were not crazy about the soups, but really love the sushi rolls! The entire meal weighs about $115. Which was kind of a lot but well worth it!
