First time here with the international supper club. Thanks to Sarah S for organizing. I enjoy Thai cuisine but can't eat very spicy food. There are many options on the menu. There are plenty of apps. I enjoyed the pork dumplings in red curry sauce. The flavor was delicious. I got to try the sausage and summer rolls and both were also great. I want to try the curry puff next time. I ordered chicken yellow curry which had appropriately sized pieces of chicken, large pieces of onions, and cubes of potatoes. There was good flavor though the mild was a bit spicy. The onion pieces were a little large and not cooked for very long. Overall the flavor was such that the curry was a solid dish that I would order again. The next day it tasted even better and didn't seem as spicy. The drunken noodles looked great and other dishes had fresh veggies. I also want to try the pad Thai and some of the desserts. Even though I came with a larger group, the servers did a great job taking orders, filling waters, and attending to our other requests. I was going to order the green curry, but my wife ordered the green curry right before me. The server then asked in a joking manner, why I was getting the same thing, why not try something different. She recommended the drunken noodles, so I decided to give that a shot. At the moment, I was really kicking myself for not ordering the green curry, because it's always so good. My drunken noodles came out, and I dreaded the thought of eating it and then trying my wife's green curry only to realize the green curry was much better. Much to my surprise, this wasn't the case! The drunken noodles were on par with the green curry. Though I ordered mild, the drunken noodles were actually quite spicy. I can easily take mild, but this was definitely a hotter scale for me. Glad I didn't go for the hot. I also ended up trying the sausage appetizer and spring roll appetizer that Mark and Ben so nicely shared with the table. The restaurant struck out in all categories. The dining room was dark, dimly lit, and lacking proper heat...translation...it was cold inside! The waitress was slow and unfriendly. When she finally came up to take the order...she couldn't even utter the phrase "May I take your order"...she just stood there! The food arrived to the table lukewarm and virtually flavorless! I didn't realize my appetizer was missing until after the entrees were dropped off. I had to get up and ask about the appetizer. She claimed they were still working on it...translation...she forgot to order the appetizer because she didn't write anything down! The appetizer finally arrived when the meal was almost over. In summary, if you like poor service, slow service, lukewarm food, a late appetizer in a dimly lit ice cold restaurant...this could be your place! read more

One of our favorite Thai restaurants in the area! We've eaten here twice so far-once for take out and once for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant is small, maybe 15 tables. The staff was very sweet. I got the Thai fried rice and my girlfriend got the pad see-u, they were both great! The vegetables and spices tasted very fresh. Lots of good options for vegetarians as well. They have cream cheese rangoons which were great, always exciting to see those as an option as a vegetarian. Definitely recommend this place and we will be back. read more

We ordered Namtok Beef, Green Curry and Red Curry. While eating the Namtok Beef, I bit on a rusty metal screw. I couldn't believe that was in the food. I called the restaurant and they wanted to credit us for the Namtok Beef. We won't even risk eating the other dishes. I do not trust the quality control from the restaurant. It also worries me that the owner didn't seem that concerned to look into what is going on in the kitchen for something like that to happen. read more

My husband and I decided to stop by on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was a little on the quiet side even with a couple of tables, including one large party, already dining. We were immediately seated and received excellent service throughout our meal. We started with Som Tum (papaya salad), which was definitely the best part of our meal. The flavors--sweet, acidic, spicy--were just right. I ordered a bowl of Tum Yum soup and upgraded to include shrimp. It was pleasant though I would have preferred a bit more lime flavor. I also ordered pad kee mao with chicken at a level 3 out of 5. It was a very large portion--big enough to share. However, it wasn't the typical flavor profile I'm used to. I didn't see any basil mixed in with the noodles, onion, carrot, and bell pepper. I asked for prik nam pla because I didn't find the level 3 to be all that spicy...should've ordered a 4 or 5. My husband ordered his absolute favorite Thai curry, massaman curry, with beef. We're used to crushed peanuts with the curry, but this version had what I assume was boiled peanuts...different size and texture than I was expecting. We were also disappointed that the beef was thin, tough strips of beef as opposed to fall apart chunks. Overall, our dinner was fine, but if we return I would try some other dishes. read more

Was so excited to try this place after hearing good reviews. I asked for my dish to be mild and my mouth is throbbing from the heat. They only gave one carton of rice for two dishes. Curry is mostly spicy, no other flavor. Will not return. read more

We were in for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Though they give a heads up that they are short- handed, it didn't show in the efforts of the staff. Food was out of the kitchen and served hot and absolutely terrific. We shared the peppered catfish, spring rolls and the green curry with pork. All wonderful. We ordered this on a delivery service. The Tom Kha soup was very good. The cheese angeles were okay, but in all fairness fried food is always just okay to me, not exceptional. The reason for the 3 stars is because the drunken noodles (my go to favorite thai dish) was so HOT it was unedible. They ask 0-5 what spice rating you want, and we put 2 because we like a little spice. However, this was insanely hot. I can't imagine what a 5 would be like. In addition there were very little veggies, just a couple huge carrott rings that were uncooked. Unfortunate waste of a not so cheap dish. read more

I've never eaten at Manee Thai, and I have no idea where it is except that it's a little less than 10 miles from my parents' house. However, here's why they get 5-stars from me: My dad (Papa Q) went home early from work today after I told him I might have a super-important-time-sensitive package that got mistakenly sent to their address in St. Louis instead of mine. PPQ found no package addressed to me when he got home. Instead, the doorbell rang around 6PM and he found (according to PPQ's account) "a well-clad staff member" who delivered him a hot five-course-dinner and said to him with a smile, "Happy birthday! Your daughter ordered your birthday dinner from out of town." To be honest, Manee Thai was definitely not my first choice to order from. I went through the list of some of my favorite St. Louis restaurants last night, but unfortunately, they either didn't offer delivery or wouldn't deliver far into the giant suburb where my parents live. I had to change my plan and pick a decent (aka Yelp-approved) restaurant I've never been to before, but to make myself a little nervous, I would stick to a few cuisine choices that I'm more familiar with. And I ended up ordering from Manee Thai because: 1. It was the only Tian/Yelp-approved restaurant that would negotiate with me on delivering outside of their radius for my purpose (although I did get charged about 500% extra on the delivery). 2. My dad has never tried Thai cuisine before. He's also a really stingy asian who doesn't treat himself to decent meals out and has very little knowledge about the other types of ethnic cuisines out there. In his mind, there's "Chinese", "Japanese", "other Asian" cuisines, and the rest he basically just labels "American" (a pseudo-foodie-aka-moi's nightmare). Anyway, it might not be a super $$$$ fancy dinner, but I deem myself knowledgeable enough about Thai food that I was able to carefully pick 5 relatively authentic dishes from Manee Thai's menu (working with Yelp and Manee Thai) so that at least my dad could say he's had legit Thai food now! Regardless of the actual food quality (though I've got some faith in Yelp on this, and also my dad's taste-buds are probably semi-retired anyway), big kudos to Manee Thai for: A. Being human and making the delivery possible B. Being patient (lady on the phone, Meeyeon?) with my 923846 calls customizing the order (including numbering each container and legibly write down the name of each dish so I could explain to my dad "#3 Red Curry Beef goes with #3 Rice"), confirming the order, changing the order, checking in on the delivery, etc. C. It's st louis good, hence the 4 and 5 star reviews. It pretty much sucks but most people from st louis wouldn't know because the only thing they have to compare it to are the other thai joints that rarely rise above what would be considered mediocre in more cosmopolitan cities. Just look at the photos of gooey pad thai sitting in a puddle of sauce. That's flat out careless cooking because a properly made pad thai shouldn't have an excess of sauce. It's not a good sign when they can't prepare the most popular thai dish correctly. Please learn how to cook and have more respect for your customers, even if they aren't that discriminating. read more

Manee Thai is probably the first place I had ever eaten Thai food many years ago. It had been a while since I had been though. I always choose another Thai restaurant slightly to the west when I'm in this area. My vegan friend ordered an all-vegetable curry and I ordered The Spicy Eggplant (Ground chicken with eggplants, onions, bell peppers, and Thai basil in chili garlic sauce.) The food came out frightening fast and it made me question how much of it was freshly made. I ate about ¾ of my dish. It was tasty and well-cooked but there was a lot of liquid in the bowl. I loved all of the white onion in it and did not like the green pepper which I set to the side. All in all I'd return at someone else's request but I'm probably not choosing it on my own. read more

We ordered enough for several meals and we're rewarded! ---Great-tasting Tom kha gai (chicken Cocoanut milk soup), to which I added the extra veggies from our other dishes and jasmine rice, plus chili sauce. ---mixed meats steamed dumplings were disappointing: wrappers were thin and too soft, and they got cold rapidly by being hidden among cold garnishes, all unnecessary. Dipping sauce had too much soy. ---shrimp tempura were large, crisp and wonderful, but we didn't like/use the sauce; came with more cold veggies. ---duck over rice provided only 2 helpings (1 leg, 1 thigh), but good taste. This is a cute little mom and pop upscale restaurant. Upon walking in you will see traditional Chinese/ Asian decorations which I am always a fan of! We were seated in about 5 mins. I tried the coconut Thai tea which was a no go for me but my guest loved it! I may be biased as I am not a fan of milk. I order the Pineapple Fried Rice with level 4 spice. I am a fan of places which gives you level of spice always gets extra points from me. It tasted extremely authentic and very delicious! Great Thai food. It is your traditional Thai decor and intimate location. I have been here twice with my husband and a third time and brought my 6 year old. He really enjoyed it too (that is saying a lot for normal kiddos). My go to is always the Pad Thai, just full of robust flavors and even when I am full I go back for me. My husband changes it up a lot. Spicy Stir fry with Pork is very delicious. He has also had the tempura shrimp that were flavorful as well. There crispy spring rolls and angel wings (crab rangoon) are also good appetizer options. Yah gotta try them!!! read more
