Overall a very big disappointment. After telling the owner that I wear my hair in a smooth classic bob which needs to be low-maintenance, I was given a trendy cut which took twenty minutes to blow into a curly style using about four different hair products, all of which were aggressively sold throughout the entire visit. As soon as I got home I washed my hair to get all the greasy product out and discovered that I had the worst haircut I have ever had in my life. A large chunk of hair had just not been cut at all and was hanging down in a clump next to my face. Fortunately I was able to go to Great Clips and get things corrected, but I would certainly never go back to Mane Attraction again. To add insult to injury, the entire experience cost me close to $300. read more

My stylist only needed to trim the sides of my short hairstyle as they seemed bushy to me, but I left with them not thinned enough-I really didn't notice that they weren't thinned enough until later. It costs $12 for a 10 minute trim-too pricey! read more

My cut was with Ashley, who listened to my hair issues and gave me a great cut. I am going to go back for a color. Stil have to play with my new cut, but so far, so good! So I tried a new salon this week and had a fabulous experience. When I first went in I was greeting with a smiling hello from the sweetest receptionist who knew exactly who I was (even though it was my first time). They asked if I would like coffee, tea and a tour of the salon. After I was shown around they sat me down to get my hair washed (which is my favorite part). She then gave me a shoulder rub! That just made my favorite part about getting my hair done even better! She did the exact style I wanted (and that is not common for hair stylists. You say cut an inch and they cut 3). As I was leaving I was shown the products they used that day but didn't feel pressure to purchase at all. It was well worth the cost and I am so happy I finally found an incredible salon! read more

Absolutely horrifying experience! I was referred by my bf who was going there for ten years. The whole process did not go right from the beginning, one girl totally ruined it, Rhonda, second girl, Sye, tried to fix it, but.. look at my profile picture, that hot it looks now..I have no words, my hair is ruined, color looks sooo bad, and now I'm going to another stylist to fix it. Every time I was going there, I was paying money, except 3 times they tried to fix it. Now, I have to spend money again just to fix my hair because it looks terrifying. The owners wife, she is a stylist also, told me that they can't make me happy, of course, who would be happy with this terrifying experience, pretty much told me don't come back here. If you want the best haircut in the United States, make an appointment at Mane Attraction. The owners Kendall and Beate Ong are both superb. Beate has cut my husbands fine, thinning hair impeccably and she has highlighted and colored my hair with precision. I have very fine, straight hair with weird collics, especially in the back. When I left Phoenix, I tried to find a hairdresser in San Diego. I have tried over a dozen hairstylists, including two previous managers of Vidal Sassoon. Neither of them could cut my hair and both of them had prima donna attitudes. One stylist, who couldn't cut the collic in the back of my hair correctly, actually suggested the Brazillian Blowout to straighten it! I have been so frustrated trying to find a stylist that I still fly or drive back to Phoenix from San Diego to have Kendall cut my hair for over 10 years. He never disappoints me even when I need to have him fix a haircut that someone has previously ruined. And not once in all these years has he ever had a problem with my collics. Their shop is beautiful, everyone is friendly and no one has an "attitude". He listens to everything you have to say, he takes an incredible amount of time getting it just right and he always makes me look like I have more hair than when I came into the shop. I asked him what it feels like to be the best. He replied that he heard you should never settle for being good or you will never be great. That is probably why he and his wife Beate take his staff of a dozen to Europe every year for classes to update their techniques. I recently had my haircut at Mane Attraction with Randee and my experience with her was phenominal. First, Randee is very professional. I am an attorney and I appreciated that she treated her job with poise and care for my needs. She offered me an iced tea, which was appreciated after a hard day at the office. Second, Randee was competent. She shared with me about the extensive training program the salon implements and it showed! My haircut was excellent and Randee even suggested that I modify a style, which I had grown stale with for years. Switching it up really made me think outside the traditional, professional box and let me explore the options that I normally would not have considered. Another Great Experience after an at-home mishap. I had died my hair with a box color at home expecting one result and got another (figures) I went in the same day and Josey consulted with me and we came up with doing highlights of the color I wanted so my hair wouldn't fry from a color correction and I would get some dimension and style... Well she put in the highlights on the same visit, she dried it and my hair looks amazing, it looks a million times better than I hoped for, she made my hole month and St. Patty's Day!!! Although I am paying a premium to have the owner of the salon cut my hair, it is well worth it. The staff is also friendly, knowledgeable and function as a well oiled machine. Before I became a client of Mane Attraction, I was constantly on a quest for the perfect salon. I never stayed in one place because I was never given a reason to. I tried every trendy salon out there and was never truly satisfied. For some reason I have had quite the time finding a stylist who was 1) great with cut AND color, and 2) had the ability to cut short hair without making me looking like an exotic bird.. and an unattractive one at that! After my first cut and highlight at Mane Attraction, I was elated and have continued to be blown away to this day...nearly 9 years later. As a busy mother who rarely gets "me" time, (yes, I am going to play that card!), instead of being a source of stress as in the past, salon visits are now something I look forward to. As soon as I enter the door, I am greeted with a friendly hello and soon have a cold drink in hand. Next comes the back and neck massage that preempts the shampoo. It makes me feel completely spoiled and I love it! When it's time to move on to the shampoo, you are pampered even more with a heavenly scalp massage. By this time my eyes are closed and I feel as though I could drift off at any moment. Ahhh....."me time". Beate is my stylist and she never disappoints. I no longer have to give a 3 page essay on what I like, what I hate, and explain every little detail of the style I want. She intuitively knows and somehow manages to make sense of my less than stellar communication skills. I trust her implicitly. I just sit back, relax, and let her work her magic. How many of you can truly say that about your stylist? She has complete artistic freedom but always asks for my feedback as we go to make sure I am happy with the direction she is heading.
