Very nice small spot to eat some Chinese food...I would've given a 5 star if it had a bigger choice of food, but when they said small buffet in the other reviews they weren't kidding, but they make up in quality what they lack in quantity...food tasted awesome, kid & family friendly, all the waitresses where very hospitable. This restaurant is great, inexpensive food, plenty of options and every time you go there is variety! Sushi stays fresh! The problem is its a small restaurant, you will mainly always wait in line to seat and food goes at a fast pace!! A lot of kids always in there making a mess as well, but it's expected at an inexpensive buffet!! I went to Mandarin Buffet for the first time a few months ago, after having passed by it numerous times since moving to the Chelsea area. Since I moved to Boston from Virginia, I have been searching for some really amazing Chinese food that's affordable. I've also been in search for an incredible Crab Rangoon, and to be honest, I hadn't found it yet. One bite from the buffet and I knew I would be a returning customer! While they don't have the best Chinese food, Mandarin Buffet proves its worth in other ways. It's super clean, and the servers are very sweet, and helpful, since I told them I'd never been to a buffet before. (Crazy, huh?) Definitely grab some crab rangoon and some of the sweet and sour sauce near it... Your taste buds will thank you! read more

There was a nice spread of food. Everything seemed fresh and tasted great. Didn't get a chance to try the sushi. Crawfish, oysters, crab and calamari were always abundant. Service was acceptable. Owner was sort of rude and could hardly understand him. Good place but I would rush back to try it again. read more

Food is ok 2.5 stars actually. Most foods were not hot. I had to try it out. Manager was not friendly when were asking for more seating because we told him we only had 12 but we actually had 16-17 people. Anyways I'm going here again because the food wasn't really that good. read more

well, Mandarin Buffet is a decent place for good old fashioned Chinese food, the selection over there is pretty good plus there is good amount of dessert to choose from. However, the waitress could be nicer and should not charge extra on the soda , instead it should be part of the price. one big recommendation is that you don't eat the soup either the sea food or mushroom soup both taste awful and it is smells really bad those soups , I have no idea what they put there. read more

Lots of selection, but below sub-standard quality. Sushi was made with hard tasteless fish and rice. This is about the only Chinese restaurant, buffet and regular that charges people .75 for hot tea. I mean that is absolutely petty. I have never had any restaurant charge for hot tea. I will never go back, due to taste of food. One star is lucky for them. My husband and I went there several times because it is the closest place to our house. The atmosphere and design is fine, but we didn't like the situation in a lunch time. The seafood is available but they charge you with a dinner price.No problem, but we felt really uncomfortable when the waitresses made a research of our plates every time passing by. Get this, my homies call me up, "yo, were going to eat at Mandarin buffet near your house. You coming thru?" I said hell yeah! Only because I didn't eat all day so I was a starving marvin up at this point. We get to the place, these Asian men and women working there look at the sausage fest we just brought on them and seat us. So far so good. I wont lie, the customer service was alright but then again buffets are usually like that, I'm assuming. I did have a complaint that my water wasn't being refilled enough. I'm over here watching Obama give the Union address speech and I'm thirsty af, but there's no waitress around. I'm stuck in this sahara desert of a dry mouth so I get up and quench my thirst with food hoping I will get back to an ice cold water waiting for me. This is where my bad portion of the review comes in Jim. We finished feasting like lower class kings and that's where we all regretted it. Later on that night, I had to work and right before I come in for my shift right? I fucking throw up. Im over here flabbergasted, looking at the noodles and orange chicken I had earlier,on the floor. Not the freshest buffet I've ever been to. The appetizers were luke warm at best and tasted like they had been reheated from a prior service. Chinese food that has been sitting in my refrigerator that I've eaten the next morning tasted better than some of the options they had. Their music selection was also terrible. Went in on a Friday night with my friend and our two toddlers. The place looks very bright and simple for a buffet(also very small) Had the lo-mein which was great. The california rolls were delicious! The fried rice and plantains were awesome. Wish they had a better selection of chicken/beef! A friend and I just had Sunday Lunch/Dinner at this restaurant. If you are a seafood lover, this is your place. If you want the run of the mill Americanized Chinese food such as chicken fingers, boneless spareribs, sweet and sour, and fried rice, you can get them too, but why bother when seafood reins supreme here. Also, plenty of fresh vegetables like spicy string beans and sautéed fresh spinach! We enjoyed perfectly steamed salmon, baby clams steamed in black bean sauce, spicy squid, sautéed crab meat, whole crab with a ginger sauce, hot and spicy mussels, whole shrimp steamed, in sauce, with vegetables, many varieties of shrimp, and an endless variety of excellent freshly made sushi and sashimi all for the low Sunday price of $11.99 per adult. My friend remarked that the Hot and Sour soup was the best he had ever had anywhere. I tasted it and agreed. Believe me, the steamed salmon was the best I ever had and could not stop eating it! Oh, they had Chinese crispy, spicy fish too and it was cooked perfectly and delicious. I also noticed kid pleasing foods like MAC & Cheese, chicken tenders, wings, etc. There was plenty of fresh fruit, grapes as big as large marbles, brownies, cakes, ice cream, and so much more. The staff was great, very friendly, and kept our water glasses filled, brought fresh napkins and cleared plates without asking. They let us take a look at the buffet before we sat down and one look and we knew the food would be excellent and it was. The place was crowded with families all eating up a storm! We recommend this restaurant highly and will be going back again soon as we are seafood lovers and this place is the mother lode of seafood for a very low price. read more

I came here with my coworkers after work for dinner, and the space was really crowded and loud. The four of us were seated one of the sides against the wall. A bigger party of at least 50 occupied almost the entire space, and it was really unpleasant. Their food choices are very limited, and their sushi bar didn't offer much. I absolutley hated Madarin Buffet, & so did my family. We went when it first opened, we were hungry & was right next to it & decided to try it out. They have typical Chinese items & desserts at the buffet. I don't remember exactly what I got, but I know I got some sort of chiken, vegetables, & a brownie. I don't remember exactly how the food was either, all I remember was a dry brownie, but I rmember none of my family was satisfied. If you want good Chinese food in the Chelsea/Revere area, go to China Roma, its the only place where I eat Chinese food & their roast prk lo mein is killer. read more

Never eating there again. I went there with a couple of friends and the waitresses were rude. Took 20 minutes just to receive drinks. When the bill came it already included a $15 tip. Absolutely not! They only deserved $5 at most. So rude. Food was great, but not the staff. read more

I have mixed emotions about this place. Their food is good but the customer service is eh. Me and my family always feel rushed when eating there. The waitresses and waiters also stare are you every so often which I find rather disturbing. They also push the check right in your face while you are still eating like they want you out of there. I didn't think there was anything spectacular about this place. The food was so-so. There isn't a huge selection. I went a while back two different times and wasn't impressed. I'm not sure if it's still there, but when I went, there was a sign saying something like not to take food on your plate if you wasn't going to finish it. Is it a rule you have to finish your plate ? I get they don't want food wasted but it's kind of tacky in my opionon ..maybe we don't know the exact moment we are going to become full. And I felt obligated to have to finish all my food -which sorry I didn't and it's to no surprise my kids didn't either .. sometimes your eyes are just bigger than your stomach , hey it happens. You don't really get a friendly vibe in this place and kinda feel like they wish you hadn't come lol..I guess I'd go again if I have no other choice, and happen to be in the area. Good food. Nice people. Love the shrimp and sushi. Sushi was made from fresh, so you could smell the freshness of that. Inlove the seafood there, those are also very fresh. it was a tuesday evening, and i was famished. recently heard of this place and thought i'd give it a try. go there around 7pm, and it half empty, i expected the place to be bigger. besides the typical chinese food, there was a sushi bar, the sushi is not too shabby, but there was no sushi chef in sight to make more rolls! minus a star for that. it was a little chilly, so i went to get a bowl of hot and sour soup, and it was disgusting, maybe a little too much vinegar? the service was pretty good, maybe because it was so empty, the servers were seen at every corner just watching people finishing up their plates, as soon as u put it aside, one of them would come over with a smile and take it away. if it's your birthday, they would put on the birthday song (you can barely make out the lyrics, with thick accented singing) and come to the table with a dessert. read more
