Initially we were excited for this spa experience since we were planning on hanging out at the facility and using their amenities while we wait for our red eye flight home after check out. Unfortunately the level of the spa with those amenities were being renovated and no one mentioned it when we were booking our services and at check in. So it was a big surprising disappointment. Because for the cost, technically we paid good money for couple quality time and a massage. But as for their staff and massage therapists, all that we had interactions with were pleasant and helpful. This treatment was gifted to me so I don't know the cost and cannot compare the price to the service. However, I can say it was a wonderful experience. This was by far my worst spa experience ever. I enjoy a chill spa day and an amazing massage pretty often all over the world and this was NOT the place to go for that. From check in, to customer service before the massage and the massage and check out customer experience was below minimum expectations. The masseuse tried to upsell me and then told me I'd have to pay more for a firm pressure massage!! I paid for a 90 min massage and did not get one. They couldn't find me even though I was waiting where they asked me to wait. Started late and ended early. Never asked how my experience was nor did they care. Barbara was unpleasant, the masseuse Tony not good. I could have paid a guy on the beach to rub oil on me for a lot less money than what I spent her for my very subpar experience and terrible massage! read more

Sadly disappointed with this "spa." My service was ok but my expectation of a spa is much different. I had seen pictures with images showing hot tubs and a private area for the spa. I have been to many spas and there typically will be a private pool, hot tub, sauna, cold plunge, steam room or even sundeck but here this doesn't exist. Spa Mandara is limited to treatment rooms. For the price of these services I expected a little more. I arrived early because I expected to get a locker and a robe to change into but this didn't happen. I was then escorted to a second waiting room where my esthetician showed me to my treatment room. And that's it. At this point I was convinced the images of friends enjoying a spa day on social media near hot tubs was accessible to us spa goers so I asked the receptionist at the checkout desk if there were any other amenities. And to my surprise she said no, but I was welcome to enjoy the adult only pool on the 4th floor. As I had planned to enjoy the "spa" a little longer I headed down to relax and read a book. But even still there's no poolside service for drink or food purchases so all in all I was disappointed. As it has been over 2 years since I have had a proper pedicure and massage, since I am staying at my place at The Grand Islander I decided to see if I could get a reservation. The Concerege here at the GI told me the only location onsite is at Mandara Spa up on the 4th floor in Kalia Tower. I have known about this spa for many years and have stayed in Kalia Tower many times, but have never been in and taken advantage of the services. All I can say is WOW! The overall quality of everything was 5- for sure. The ladies at the front desk were very cordial and explained the options I had. As I just wanted a classic pedicure and a lower leg and foot massage, everything I wanted was included in the classic pedicure. Pricewise it is a bit expensive, however this is expected since it's in the Hilton Hawai'ian Village. Additionally the 10% discount I received was one of the many discounts I receive being an Elite HGV Owner and an HHonors Lifetime Diamond Member. As far as the pedicure goes, the attention to detail was excellent! I prefer my toe nails very short in length and this was not a problem at all. Groupon swedish massage for 50 min went by quick. Our therapists Jan and Karanna were nice and Jan really concentrated on the areas I specified. The whole feel to the 3rd floor was not inviting and just outdated. No spa or zen feel to it. The shower/sauna area reminded me of a rehab facility. And we ended with a rude note from the girl who validated our parking. Like we were inconveniencing her when she is literally at the front desk. Poor service on her part. This was the Best spa I've ever been to! From the time you step off the elevator til you leave the level of service is incredible! I had a lomi lomi massage for 30 minutes and a wrap with the oil scalp treatment with Eriko. She made me so relaxed and my skin was super soft! She was so good that I went to my room and passed out! I then had a 75 min Mandara Customized Massage with the foot treatment and Mika was amazing! My daughter had her hair colored by Mayumi and she did a fantastic job! So glad I had her get it done there! Let me just say that Tami at the 4th floor check in fir the spa was the sweetest most wonderful person! She made us feel so welcome and treated us so special. I had made an appointment for 3 people at 3:15 we had arrived 15 mins early as advised by 3:13 the two other people in my group were called back for their massage and the lady at the front desk told me I'd only be waiting 5 mins not to worry, mind you there were about 7 or 8 massage therapist walking around. By 3:20 a group of 6 came into the waiting room and 3 got taken back to get a massage. I decided to ask how much longer I'd be waiting and apparently my therapist was finishing up a massage so she said she should be right out. I sat back down and the rest of the group had been called back. I came here twice during my recent visit to the Hilton. First I had the Men's Spa escape where I had the massage followed by a facial. I then came back for a Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage. I thought the front desk people, especially Chris (a great customer facing employee), did the most to ensure I had a good experience. While everyone else I interacted with was nice and did their job, I thought Chris was most invested in ensuring I had a good experience. The massages were good. They will never be as good as my massage therapist at home who knows my neck and back in detail, but they were better than most hotel spa treatments I have had and they did focus on the areas I said were my problem areas. The facial was a new experience for me. I have no idea what all they were putting on my face, but it did feel good. I thought the facilities were sufficient. The rooms were modern looking, comfortable, neat and clean. The waiting area was comfortable. The locker rooms were ok. I did not use or inspect the other facilities like the whirlpool and showers. The main lobby was kind of crowded with it being a central location to get to the pool and exercise areas in addition to the spa, but fortunately you do not have to wait there long. read more

In reading the other reviews, I have to say, much of it is true. But some clarification and explanation is in order. Yes. They do try and up sell you on their products. BUT I am glad they did. I absolutely love the ELEMIS oil I was up sold and purchased. It smells so nice and brings me back to my treatment. Money well spent! A self proclaimed spa-junkie, I usually opt for just a deep tissue massage or a facial. Instead, thought i'd go for something new. I tried the ELEMIS aroma spa seaweed massage. Its my first "wrap" type of treatment, so unsure of how much i needed to disrobe (undies - on or off??) i asked the nice lady manning the front desk. She was nice and helpful and explained what all would be done (FYI, they give you disposable spa panties and a disposable spa bra to cover up your lady bits - who knew?!) Yes. They do make comments about you having a gift card, but its because they take several different ones (Costco, Spa Finder, etc). so that's why the discussion at the register when ringing you up. They have certain codes. In fact, they accidentally rung mine under spa finder. After my treatment they had to have me come to the desk to back it out, and redo it under the Costco gift card. Yes. They do tack on 20% automatic gratuity. Most spas do. If you have a bad experience, speak up! They will reduce it to whatever you deem appropriate. Yes. This spa is spread out between floors. Yes, its odd to get onto an elevator with just a robe to go from locker room to spa treatment room, but hey, I understand its only temporary because they are remodeling something. Not a deal breaker for me. The experience of the ELEMIS aroma seaweed massage was awesome. First, the therapist dry brushes your skin. Then, you are covered in a warm slippery slimy goo that covers your whole body (you have to flip over after your back side is coated so they can coat the front). then you are wrapped like a cocoon in a warm blanket/towel combination. After you marinate in that, you go rise off in the attached shower room, then back on the table, face down for the oil massage. Wonderful. The aroma is fabulous (and that's why i bought the ELEMIS oil). While i do think that they can improve on some things, i don't think they deserve some of these 1 star ratings on here. While this Mandara Spa is certainly not a 5 star spa, realistically, its more like a 3 - 3.5. So i give it a 4. read more

I booked my massage the same day and they were able to accommodate me within hours. Their computer system was down, and the guy at reception had to check me in on his iPhone. They also had to check me out on the iPhone, and due to the system being down, they were unable to charge my room which was annoying but not a problem. The locker rooms are very tiny. I'm not that modest but I did feel uncomfortable changing nearly shoulder to shoulder with someone else. The indoor/outdoor area where the sauna is was nice. I just relaxed on a chair and ate some fruit but didn't use the jacuzzi/sauna. My massage was very good. My massage therapist Junko was friendly and asked a lot of questions to ensure I was comfortable. The product sell after the massage was off putting and made the whole experience feel cheap. $150 for a massage shouldn't end in a product sell, but I know they are probably forced to do this, so no shame on the employees for this. I've frequented a lot of spas all over the country and I have to say this spa hits somewhere in the middle. It wasn't the most luxurious experience but it was definitely relaxing. Then we had a complementary mini fruit buffet while relaxing close to the pool. We showered, hit the spa, then got our massage treatments. I've been here before and decided to come back because they had a Groupon special. We self parked in the Kalia parking structure and they validate free for four hours. From the start, the staff was not very welcoming/friendly. My friend and I got there an hour early to use the amenities. We went into the steam room and pushed the button to turn on the steam and a bubbly/gassy noise started coming from the pipes and brown water came spewing out. We told the staff/manager and they apologized and offered to give us a day pass to come back and use the amenities. They said that they just had the part replaced for the steam room so when you turn it on it does that from the rust and needs time to warm up. That means it's time that the pipes need replacing if it's rusted. Overall, they need to really renovate the spa. The massage was more of a back rub and not a massage. I would not be returning or recommend coming here. read more

Hmm... let's just say this place is not worth the price they ask even on the deal sites. My husband bought me a Groupon and sent me off to the spa for a facial. Let me tell you what they did was not a proper facial. More like they just did less than mediocre and slathered my face in lotion. Isn't the first rule of thumb of a proper facial is to have a steamer to open the pores up? They just laid a hot towel on my face for a few minutes. And the "extractions" were a joke. She literally poked my face all of 5 times. For whatever reason I counted to myself. 3 pokes on the chin and 2 on the nose. My nose still has so many blackheads on it. And as far as the spa facilities go. They gave me a pair of broken sandals to wear, so I could change out my clothes and put it into the broken locker they assigned me, to go hang out it their unkept facilities. Everywhere I turned there was trash or towels laying around. I'd be more understanding if it was busy, but I was the only person there for about 30 minutes, and one staff member came in and shuffled the magazines. Didn't even bother to clean anything else up. And if you are any bit shy about being naked in front of other people you can't be shy here. No private changing rooms (you'll have to use the toilet stall) and the shower doors open up directly into the spa area entrance and/or spa area depending on which stall you use, and all the towel hooks are on the front center of the shower door so you have to come out bare bottom to get your towel, robe, etc. They have a well stocked area of one time use items, toothbrushes, combs, tampons, etc. the one thing I really needed was a plastic bag. So if you plan to use the jacuzzi/hot tub you should bring one with you. Otherwise you'll be carrying around your sopping wet bathing suit in your purse, or dirty undergarments if you showered and changed after a spa treatment. Go to the Moana Lani Spa at the Moana Surfrider instead (I used a Groupon there as well). They do it right, their facilities are spot on. Clean, relaxing, and each shower has a personal changing stall, trash bags to hold dirty items after showering, and also the bathing suit drying machine that spins out all the water, plus snacks, and a view of Waikiki while you relax... not a view of a parking lot. This happened about a year and a half ago, but I think it's important to share. It took me about that long to control my temper when I talk about it! I booked an appointment for my wedding hair and makeup at this spa since my husband-to-be and I were staying at this resort for part of our trip. (Kind of a big deal, your wedding hair and makeup.) I arrived 15 minutes early, so you can imagine my surprise when a very angry woman came storming into the lobby 10 minutes later looking for me. Apparently she was going to be doing my hair and makeup for the day...good start. When I sat down in the chair, she did not introduce herself, ask about my wedding or talk to my best friend who had come with me. She was clearly very upset about something. She then went on to tell me that my hair was "disgusting" (that is the actual word she used.) According to her, everything about it was wrong-the color, the texture, everything. I probably should have walked out right there, but I wanted to see if I could figure out what was happening, and I was not going to explode on what is supposed to be a wonderful day. The truth came out a few minutes later when I asked her if she had any other brides that day, trying to drop a hint. That's when she accused me of being an hour late for my appointment. I had called the day before to make sure my appointment was confirmed and arrived early as I mentioned, so I truly to this day have no idea why she thought this. When I corrected her, her face fell. Her tone immediately changed, and she started kissing up to my friend and me. She had blow dried my hair at this point and started to style it VERY badly (I looked like a Disney princess with a mullet), so I figured this was a good time to leave. I thanked her for helping me and told her she would not be doing my makeup. She started to cry, and I left. I told management about this of course, and they were very accommodating (I guess.) I didn't have to pay for that ridiculous blow dry and they sent some little items like nail polish and sugar scrub to my room after. The manager even added "You look so beautiful," before I left, and I almost laughed out loud. I ended up salvaging the ridiculous hair job she had done and doing my own make up, because a bad tempered esthetician is not a good reason to ruin your wedding day. It baffles me that this woman is allowed to work in what is supposed to be a friendly and relaxing environment. I told the manager that woman should be fired if she wants to stay in business, but I got the impression that was not going to happen. Hopefully that lady is long gone and that other people have had much lovelier, relaxing experiences that they deserve. read more

The day before my appointment, they called to confirm and also let me know the locker room and steam room were closed for renovation, but I could use the pool and jacuzzi. Please do not waste your time on this "glorified" korean spa. And I do not mean that in a disrespectful way because I've been to many korean spa's in downtown LA that are 10x better than this place and a quarter of the price. My point from this post is this isn't a true "spa" it's a cheap version pretending to be a Spa in a fancy hotel in Hawaii. The women's "jacuzzi" is the same above ground jacuzzi you would have in your backyard. I bought a massage & facial combo through a Groupon deal. The massage was a light rub with enough oil to literally last a life time. The woman was super sweet but again this wasn't a good massage, she literally petted me. The facial was terrible, another Yelp user had the same experience I did. About 5 layers of lotion and maybe 3-5 pokes that counted as "extractions". There was no steam used, as is typically used during a facial, and the woman was pretty rough who gave the facial. When you use the Groupon deal they automatically charge you 20% gratuity per treatment on the regular price + taxes. So Groupon was $180 + $76 dollars on site worth of taxes/gratuity was a HUGE WASTE OF TIME + MONEY! I've been to several nice spa's for that price and this wouldn't even compare on the lowest of low levels. Do yourself a favor and do not even think about going here. read more

There's no question about it, this place is pricey. We dropped ~$160 on a 50 minute lomi lomi (traditional Hawaiian) massage, and after you factor in the automatic 20% tip that you are required to pay, it works out to ~$200 for a 50 minute massage. To me, the 20% tip was quite rich, and put me off, especially since they didn't mention the tip ahead of time. Or maybe it was on that form I signed without reading it first? That said, Mandara Spa is in the center of a high priced tourist destination, so you're probably expecting to shell out some big cash. And it really is a nice spa. There's a day spa area with a steam room, jacuzzi tub, showers, and sauna. There's snacks to munch on (a bowl of fruit, fruit cups, and fruity water). And there's little trinkets in the locker room (underwear, comb, sanitary items, toothbrush, etc.). You take the elevator to a different floor to receive your service, and it looked like there's quite a lot of rooms. The room where I received my massage was very pleasant, and even came with a shower in case I couldn't wait to rinse off afterwards. My masseuse was excellent, and I thoroughly enjoyed my massage. One note - yes, it's in an older building, but they did their best to convert it into a luxe spa. For example, there's no built-in jacuzzi, but the day spa room included a portable jacuzzi tub. Similarly, the tile on the floor is a bit older, but they tried to dress it up by scattering orchids on the floor. read more

I booked my room with a special offer which entitled me to 2 spa treatments. It's called the spa and golf escape. So, I get my certificates and book a massage for Thursday and a facial for Friday. I asked for a male massage therapist cuz the one I have in LA is da schiznit. Thursday rolls around and I get to my massage at noon. My therapist shows up and we go into the room. He gave me the weirdest massage ever. It was a combination of Swedish, Shiatsu and some reflexology. Ummm yeah. What was up with shaking? Dude was shaking me like a milkshake! Then he did some rubbing and I just did not feel relaxed. Nor did I feel like my muscles were less tense. He ended the massage with a bell that went *ting*.. I dont think I will be getting a massage here again. I'll stick to my dude here in LA. Friday's facial was good. Nothing spectacular, just good. I liked the papaya stuff she used on me. She also did extractions for those nasty blackheads.. yeah baby. Hot. I did like the outside area where you can read, relax or sit in the hot tub. I opted to just read and enjoy the breeze. Oh there was a really annoying lady sitting there YAPPING on her cell phone really obnoxiously for like 15 min on Friday. I was like are you fuckin kidding me? When we are on Oahu, my wife and I always make sure to book appointments at Mandara Spa at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. We always start with some sort of treatment early in the trip, and then take advantage of their 30 percent discount on return services within seven days before we leave. First the good. We cannot day enough good things about the staff. Chris G., the Sr. Concierge and his team of Viktorria and Caylee were incredible. I called to book our initial appointments a couple of weeks before our trip. I book a tropical body scrub for myself and a Swedish massage for my wife. Chris got us checked in, easily handling a Groupon, two electronic SpaFinder gift cards, and room charge. After our initial services, he solicited honest feedback and recommended our follow up services. On return, Caylee held some on my wife's purchases behind the counter so we didn't have to keep them in our lockers or out at the pool. And again, Chris easily navigated a 30 percent discount, four electronic SpaFinder gift cards, and a room charge. In terms of the services, they were solid. For me, I had the Tropical Coffee Body Scrub with Larry and then a deep tissue massage with Eddie. In both cases, the pressure was good. Initially, I was expecting the body scrub to be a fancier version of a Korean Body Scrub. It was not. It was fancier but given the price point it wasn't as thorough and due to a Mandara policy, they do not work on your chest. My massage with Eddie was great - I nodded off at one point. My wife had a Swedish Massage with Eddie, Reflexology with Eddie, and a signature facial with Anamaria. The massages were just what the doctor ordered to get my wife into vacation mode. The facial helped her leave Hawaii looking "fresh." The reason for the four star review is the facilities. They have the bare minimum that I'd expect for a resort spa. A locker room, a few showers, two jacuzzis, a dry sauna and a steam room. The jacuzzis are the type you'd see on a suburban backyard, nothing custom built. No cold plunge. The benches in the men's sauna creaked when I sat on them and I only weigh 190 lbs! The locker room/spa facilities need at least a coat of paint. The plants had dead flowers and leaves. Maybe it's because we live in Las Vegas, but we expect more. Between Hilton and Mandara they should be able to put some money into it and make this a true resort spa. read more

I love a bargain just as much as the next person, so when Groupon offered a $99.00 special at Mandara Spa, i jumped on it...as well as a couple of girlfriends. Afterall, Mandara Spa is brand I'm familiar with and expect to whole get a lot of fru-fru to come with it. My party of 5 girlfriends made an apppointment at the same time and I was pleased to see that Mandara could accommodate us. The $99.00 was already paid for via Groupon so when I checked in I paid for the tax and automatic 20% gratuity fee added onto my bill (a bit presumptuous I think, i thought a tip was reflection of the kind of service I was getting but hmmm, i was not one to make a fuss BEFORE my treatment). Before I go on, we were told that with the purchase of the Groupon special we were privy to use of the work out and pool facilities prior to our massage treatments. A couple of my friends took advantage of this to work out at their gym. There is a steam room, jacuzzi and showers available on premise for our use as well. So we checked in and were lead to the women's locker room thereafter to change into Mandara Spa robes and slippers (the slippers were very uncomfortable and even though my feet are by no means overly large and fat, the straps kept cutting into my foot). We were instructed to wait in the sun room (the patio area of the jacuzzi/steam room area) until someone called for us. We didn't wait long and was happy to see that everyone, including myself REALLY needed this time to get away and unwind without the kids and hubby. They all lamented on how terrible parking and difficult it was to get to this location. I was lucky, I got dropped off by the lucky man. We were escorted to another floor and then asked to wait until our therapist came out to get us. I wish I could remember the name of my masseuse because she was absolutely fantastic!! After going through a list of anatomical areas that are giving me issues and areas that need a gentler touch, she proceeded to work her magic. I'm sorta a MASSAGE fanatic - i love em!! I'm partial to the deep tissue and thai massages that work out the knots and bolts in my body. I've had massages from Thailand, Bali and the Philippines and I have loved every single authentic one of them. So when it comes to massages, if it ain't right I get a little cranky about it. I was NOT cranky at all when it came to my massage. She hit every spot (and then some) that ached and creeked. Perhaps one of the best part of this experience was that my masseuse didn't try to engage in conversation or anything!! Nothing worse than being interviewed or trying to tell you all about herself or blah, blah, blah. She respected the treatment and I felt a bit guilty to soaking up the magic from this complete stranger. There's something to be said when you're laying face down with your pieces and parts exposed and being completely vulnerable to having a stranger touch and knead you. After the massage was done i was i told i could take my time getting dressed and shown an area adjacent to the massage room. It reminded my of open air massages and baths in Bali. There was a shower room and a little private sunroom where my therapist brought out a cup of tea (green tea). I could have spent the whole day in that little niche but I knew I had friends waiting - DARN! This also added to my whole positive experience. I know there are times when all I want is a massage and no fru-fru stuff, but in this particular instance that moment of silence and bliss with the knowledge that I could just soak up the entire meditative time to my own was transforming. I hated to leave. I met my girlfriends in the lobby of the massage area and we proceeded to the steam room. At times the steam was so overpowering that you can't see the hand in front of you. By the time I left the steam room I was convinced every harmful toxin and badness was removed from my body (i know that it isn't true...but it sure felt like it). Again I took a moment to cool off in the patio chaise area of the spa just to take in the experience. Fresh fruit and water was available and was well needed. Remember that automatic 20% gratuity tip added to my bill? I was happy to pay that amount!! No qualms from me there - none whatsoever! I'm sure glad my first experience at this Mandara was a positive one. If you're willing to brave Waikiki traffic and the parking situation at the Hilton Hawaiian Village do pay a visit to this spa. I don't know if I would've wanted to pay for the full price of this spa though. It's not about being cheap or anything, it's just that i've paid so little in the past for such awesome massages elsewhere (and I do have a few favorite spots on island). I do believe that if you want a day of complete, girly pampering this might be the place for you to go along with the price tag. I'm a fan of spas so there's no better way to spend a humid, rainy Saturday afternoon than getting pampered! To me, Mandara Spa offers affordable luxury, unpretentious service, and the convenience of a location just at the edge of Waikiki in the Hilton Hawaiian Village Kalia Tower. The ambience feels a bit dated in comparison to the luxury spas on Maui, but on Oahu it's a solid 3.5 stars experience. Whether kama'aina or tourist, this is better than a day spa because of all the amenities that come with your treatment(s) -- robe, shower slippers, towels, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, shower facilities, locker room. You don't even need to bring a comb, hair dryer, mouthwash, cotton swabs, etc. Mandara has it all. For a spa day with three girl friends, we did the "BFF" special that included a facial, body massage and facial for a grand total time of 75 minutes. Private treatment rooms are cozy and dimly lit with the central focus on the massage table covered by crisply tucked white sheets, a triangle artfully folded back so you can easily slip (naked) under. Even with the a/c on, it was nice and warm between the sheets, and I felt a bit like a mummy securely tucked in. I enjoyed the facial, but I have to say I absolutely reveled in the back massage! Of course, I was worried that the sheet was slipping a bit too low for comfort, but since I had a female masseuse, I did not feel "uggi" at all. The massage worked all the muscles and, honestly, all my fat, too. It was so good in a way that almost crossed the line between pleasure and pain. During the foot massage, I admit a yelp and moan burst from my mouth before I could stop it! Meanwhile, my friend said she dozed off and snorted herself awake, much to the amusement of her masseuse. After our treatments, we retreated to the outdoor deck just beyond the locker room. After a quick shower to rinse off the various oils and lotions, we wrapped ourselves in towels and stepped into the glass-doors of the steam room, sauna and open-air Jacuzzi tub. On the deck, there's comfortable lounge chairs to gaze out towards the mountain and Waikiki, but no real view so most of the time it's shuttered closed. It's also a bit risqué to go naked out there, though we did see some women who were not wearing swimsuits go into the Jacuzzi. Eeps. Hopefully this wasn't a co-ed area. Another downside was the smell of cigarette smoke wafting from the deck above. The spa serves chilled lemon water and hot tea, and offers magazines that you can thumb through while relaxing on the deck. We brought our own snacks, and happily tucked in because getting pampered makes one really hungry. Validated self-parking is available in the Hilton's main garage or you can valet your car at the Kalia Tower. Plan to arrive half hour before your treatment time, and stay as long as you like. I booked an 80 minute Lomi Lomi Couples Massage utilizing my Chase Sapphire Points. Upon booking and redemotion of my points, I was provided instructions advising me that after 24 hrs, to contact Mandara Spa to confirm time of booking. As such, I went forward and contacted Mandara Spa to confirm time. Mandar advised me to provide them with a credit card to put on file to confirm a booking. I advised them that it was already purchased and that I had a voucher and only needed time of booking. They later told me that they had no alert about the booking and that I would need to provide them a credit card on file to move forward. I then told them I would confirm with Chase and then call back to confirm time as I was not comfortable with giving them my credit card info in fear of them charging me twice in total. I late called again to confirm time and discussed with the concierge on time to show up. She looked me up and stated I was in the system and my time was for 2pm and show up 30mins prior. I did question to confirm it was for the voucher via Chase Sapphire. She agreed and stated yes. I show up at my appointment, check in accordingly and not once it was stated that I was only going to get a 5o min Kuuipo Couples Massage and not the 80 min Lomi Lomi Couples Massage I paid for. It wasn't till after we finished the massage and literally about to jump in the hydrotherapy bath that 50 min was mentioned. I was confused and let it go and decided to simply just not tip. I was less than an hour of leaving that a Mandara Spa Rep or manager contacted me starting that I needed to make payment and that I left without making a payment. me being really confused proceeded to stat that I had a voucher and it was discussed with the concierge prior when confirming time. I was asked to provide proof. after a few text messages and picture of the vouchers it seemed good to go. The next day leaded to several calls and debates going over payment and that they were not affiliated and that I needed to call Chase and cover down on all fronts to get this resolved. After a long and extensive talk with a Chase Sapphire Redemption Center Rep, he clearly stated that it went through and was unbelievably apologetic on the lack of follow up and lack of communication with Mandara Spa. He later put me on hold to conatact them while I waited to ensure it was taken cared of. The following day then comes around and I'm contacted by someone at Mandara Spa with apologies. Great....awesome, but what happened to the 80 min that I paid for. She sated she would cover down and contact me. Two days later, she calls me back to tell be that her Concierge Booked me at a 50 min Kuuipo Massage and then proceeded to talk about money and how I paid. I clearly have 2 paid in advance vouchers stating that I was to receive a 80 Min Couples Massage. I questioned her why would I book a 50 min when I clearly paid for a 80 min. WHY??? Even then, there was zero resolved but a phone call to remind me that I was wrong and they are not. I know this is a long and winded explanation but I just had to write it. Very very bad experience in all of this when all I wanted to do is forget life for a little bit and get what everyone goes to a spa for. I never ever write bad reviews as this is my first. I won't tell you not to go here, but I will be honest to state that I will never come back I even went as far as stating I would pay them the cost again for them to leave me alone. read more

I just finished receiving services at this spa. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous after reading the recent reviews. My girlfriend owns a spa so I have lots of experience with seasoned therapists as well as newbies. I was a little disappointed that the some of the amenities were not available like the shower, steam room, and jacuzzi. The gym was immaculant but closes between 11 and 1 for cleaning which was the most inconvenient time. I received the best facial that I've ever experienced in my life. The therapist has 18 years of experience and was named Nena (?). The massages were okay but my girlfriend and I both agreed that the therapists had limited experience. I would recommend this place although it is a bit pricey given the times now. We were offered 15% discount or 20% discount for local residents and a 20% gratuity was automatically added on. read more

My co-workers and I were very excited for our spa day and everything started off very well but I was pretty disappointed in my visit. The lounge area is very nice and relaxing. They have magazines you can look at and a fresh fruit bowl. There are lockers, a shower, lounge chairs that are on a balcony overlooking the hotel, a Jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room. I was disappointed in both of the services that I had. First, my pedicure was very short. The technician complimented my feet and I replied, "Thanks, I just had a pedicure the other week." So he translated this to mean that my feet didn't need much work and spent very little time on them. The massage didn't last long and the polish job wasn't the greatest. My massage was even worse. The masseuse I had constantly talked to me throughout the ENTIRE massage! Not relaxing at all. She was very unprofessional and even made comments about my skin being dry. She got very personal with me and told me all about herself and her kids. She then proceeded to ask me about my personal life. I know she meant well and was just being friendly but this did not make my massage relaxing at all. After the massage, they offer you water or tea, which was nice. The ambiance of the spa was very nice, it's clean and comfortable but because of the service I received, I probably won't go back to Mandara Spa. Day pass is $17.50 and gives you access to women only or men only steam room, dry sauna, and whirlpool. Lemon water and fresh fruit are also included as well as robes, locker key, and sandals (nice quality). There are 4 showers available and also have the essentials like hair dryer, hair spray, even disposable underwear and toothbrushes. You literally have to come with nothing extra. Would be great to hang out with friends. The day pass allows for coming and going all day long. Visited twice within the day. The steam room, although plenty of steam, never got hot enough for my taste. The door wouldn't shut completely so I'm not sure if that was the issue. The dry sauna worked great the first time but not the second. The whirlpool was perfect both times. read more

A much needed R&R day with the girlfriends. Thank you Groupon to the rescue. Three of us bought the Groupon $99 for $200 worth of services. Basically you can get a 50 minutes massage and a pedicure. Gratuities (20%) and taxes are added to the original price of service, so another $50, everything must be prepaid before service is provided. The spa is located on the 4th floor of the Kalia Tower at Hilton Hawaiian Village. It has a salon, steam room, sauna room, Jacuzzi, showers, and fitness center. The facility is clean and serene, but the most disappointed part was the lack of ocean view, or any view for you to sit and lounge after your treatment. I had the Balinese massage, which was good since the masseuse knows what she is doing, and knows that I needed more pressure in some areas, so she switch to lomi lomi style. I also had the Fire and Ice pedicure, which was okay, I expected something really different, but they only use la stone to massage you as the fire part and use cooling gel for the ice part. read more

I don't understand some of the 1-3 star ratings below. I personally am not a spa expert but I honestly enjoyed my experience today! I called to make an appointment about 1 week before and spoke with a host on the phone who was very friendly and up front about the services they offered as well as their prices. He also told me about the Kamaaina discount of 10% that we would receive. Mandara Spa is located on the 4th floor, the same floor as the pool and fitness center. We checked in and a host took us directly to the dressing room where we were given nice warm robes and locker keys. The locker room was very neat and clean. There is a small powder room where they have complementary toothbrushes, mouth wash, razors, and hair brushes. Through the next door (outdoors) there are about 5 showers, lounge chairs, saunas, and a jacuzzi! The whole facility is in a circle so it wraps back around to the toilets and locker room. I got a 50 minute, deep tissue massage and my sister got a "mother to be" massage. Each treatment was $144 with kamaaina discount, not including the 20% gratuity fee. We were able to get a massage in the same room (per request). The room was classy, cool, clean, and the music was very soothing instrumental Hawaiian music. Our massage was pretty standard however they used a few hot towels on our neck and feet. That was a nice touch! We spent the rest of the day enjoying the facilities. Parking is free with proof of a receipt. Overall we had a great time and appreciate the quality service we received. I am giving 4 stars because of the price. I can not see myself coming back without a gift card. I simply can not afford this place and I wish it was more affordable. read more

I had a horrible experience with Mandara Spa. First, I tried to book an appointment for the spa with the hotel concierge at Hilton Village. He told me that he would happily book me an appointment, however, there was a discount for "in person" bookings. When I went to the spa to book my appointment I was greeted by a woman who's name tag delineated that she was a supervisor. I told her that the concierge told me to come in person to book an appointment and she replied, " who told you that? That is not true!" She scheduled my appointment with lots of attitude and sass. NO discount. I arrived for my appointment on Sunday at 10am. I was greeted by the front desk staff and was immediately asked for payment and 20% gratuity was included. I booked an 80 minute massage and with 20% gratuity my total was $270!!! I was on vacation and decided to splurge. However, I thought it was quite rude to ask for a gratuity before the services were provided. I was then escorted to the male locker room. There was no attendant on duty and the desk representative told me to wait and someone would be with me shortly. I waited in the locker room area for 10 minutes and then went back to the front desk. The front desk staff informed me they would contact someone. 20 minutes later, a gentleman gets off the elevator and the staff tells me he was getting fruit for the day. However, I arrived 1h early with the hopes that I could enjoy the jacuzzi. By the time I was checked in, escorted to the locker area, changed and showered, I had only 10-15 minutes before my massage. The mens locker room was an ABSOLUTE mess. For $270 I expected much more. For starters, upon issuing a locker, the staff hands you a small lanyard which smells of mildew! My hands smelled even after several hand washes and a massage. Second, the showers were coated in mildew (pictures available). There was also mildew on the doors and chairs. It almost appeared as if the spa had recently flooded. The ACTUAL massage was average. The masseuse was decent and he listened to all of my problem areas. However, the environment of this place was so gross. For $270 I would expect snacks, water, beverages, and better overall cleanliness. I would NOT recommend this spa. Save your money and go to the Royal Hawaiian. read more
