Ordered the combo plate with salad which had kafta kebab, chicken kebab and I think beef shawarma with a generous serving of salad and hummus as well as pita and garlic sauce. The chicken and beef were both fantastic; both tasty and tender. The only complaint I have is the kafta kebab was a little overcooked and thus dry. The pita was okay but also a little dry. Everyone should try Mamas Kebab. It's the only Georgian restaurant I know of in SoCal. They have good Kebabs and hummus freshly made. They have their own grille they cook outside with. The service however and the cleanliness was not of the top tier. Couple months back, we noticed how the older man behind the counter was adding a dollar here, and a dollar there on our bill. We didn't think much of it then and just thought it was maybe because we wanted no rise or because we decided to eat there and not to go. So we never said anything. The rag they use for the tables was soaked and just laying next to the soda machine. Waiting to be used over and over on different tables. This made us uncomfortable so we wiped our own table before siting down. A couple months later and we are back. Same thing again. It clearly said 10.99 for a plate that we ordered and 1.99 for 2pc baklava on the board behind him. I paid just to see later that he up charged us again. So when we asked he said no it's tax. People were waiting in line and I didn't want to make a 'scene'. So I just shook my head and sat back down. It cleared says on the receipt what was charged and how much and tax on top of that. So annoyed and frustrated that he did that and we even tipped a good 20% made me loose my appetite. Food came out and we ended up taking it with me home. Oh my.... The Lamb Shank..... it has been a few years since I last visited this place, but the Lamb is as amazing as ever! One of the truest mark of a great restaurant is the consistency of its quality and service. A bottle of coke, lamb shank with rice, hummus, bread, and soup was $20. The Lamb was super tender, juicy, and full of flavor. You would be hard pressed to find Lamb Shanks at other restaurants of this quality & flavor for less than $35. Ambiance is definitely a small family owned business. Nothing fancy, but the food tastes like good ol' home cooking, and nothing like the manufactured fancy restaurants selling their fancy ambiance more than the food itself. The food here is good. I used to come here since 2017 for Mediterranean food because it was really good back then and it was accessible. However, the old man can ruin your experience. He was getting frustrated and raising his voice, pointing to my phone and flinging his arms about how he didn't understand the DoorDash order I placed and insisted that I contact DoorDash myself in front of many other customers in line. While the lady who was working with him apologized instead of him, I still had to deal with the public humiliation and also had to pay the difference between the price discrepancy displayed on their DoorDash and their menu. He still writes down the order on a receipt paper and then types the pricing on the cash register. We came here during lunch and ordered the steak bowl (I believe). I've been meaning to stop in here for a while and my experience was pretty good! I got the chicken shawarma plate, a lentil soup, and the owner even threw in a little baklava to sample! The flavors were all AWESOME. The lentil soup was different than a lot of Mediterranean places I've been to, but still very good. I felt like I had four meals in one! The hummus and pita, pickled veggies, rice and chicken and lentil soup - it was all so good, and I had enough for lunch and dinner. The baklava was REALLY great, it was much lighter and flavorful than a lot of baklava that I've had, rather than being overly sugary. Perfect baklava, you must try it. My only issue with this was that my chicken was SO DRY. I ate a few pieces, and the flavor was very good, but it was just so overcooked. And I ate it immediately when I got it. I hate wasting food, but after chewing away on the hard chicken for a bit, I ended up throwing just that away and eating everything else. That was disappointing, but everything else exceeded my expectations. Would definitely recommend this family owned gem, but maybe don't get the chicken? read more

Terrible Customer Service! I read the previous reviews and thought maybe the owners were having a bad day. I walked up to the counter and wasn't even acknowledged. I said I wanted to order to go and she said "ok". I asked questions about their menu, the woman was very rude and short answered. Gave me attitude like I should know the menu and not have questions? I ordered 2 plates with one beef and one chicken kabab. When I got home, they had given me 1 plate with 1 beef kabab and 1 plate with 1 chicken kabab. Super dissapointed and my fault for not checking before leaving. The food was just alright, smaller portions than other places. Other places usually give you the option to choose 2 sides, here they only give you hummus. The place smelled like wet dirty rags/stagnant water. I wanted to support small business so I put that aside since I was going to eat at home. I still couldnt get that smell out of my mind as I was eating. Not a clean place. It helps that the items are all cooked by the same older lady! My favorite is still the lamb shank. The meat falls right off the bone and the soup is so hearty and delicious. Baklavas haven't changed one bit. Still crunchy with that delicious cinnamon flavor. My family ordered to-go recently and the order was ready on time. The owners of the restaurant are the ones managing and cooking the food. They are a married couple. They were nice to wait till we got to the restaurant to put everything together.
