Oh my.... The Lamb Shank..... it has been a few years since I last visited this place, but the Lamb is as amazing as ever! One of the truest mark of a great restaurant is the consistency of its quality and service. A bottle of coke, lamb shank with rice, hummus, bread, and soup was $20. The Lamb was super tender, juicy, and full of flavor. You would be hard pressed to find Lamb Shanks at other restaurants of this quality & flavor for less than $35. Ambiance is definitely a small family owned business. Nothing fancy, but the food tastes like good ol' home cooking, and nothing like the manufactured fancy restaurants selling their fancy ambiance more than the food itself. I've been meaning to stop in here for a while and my experience was pretty good! I got the chicken shawarma plate, a lentil soup, and the owner even threw in a little baklava to sample! The flavors were all AWESOME. The lentil soup was different than a lot of Mediterranean places I've been to, but still very good. I felt like I had four meals in one! The hummus and pita, pickled veggies, rice and chicken and lentil soup - it was all so good, and I had enough for lunch and dinner. The baklava was REALLY great, it was much lighter and flavorful than a lot of baklava that I've had, rather than being overly sugary. Perfect baklava, you must try it. My only issue with this was that my chicken was SO DRY. I ate a few pieces, and the flavor was very good, but it was just so overcooked. And I ate it immediately when I got it. I hate wasting food, but after chewing away on the hard chicken for a bit, I ended up throwing just that away and eating everything else. Review: I've had this placed bookmarked on my Yelp app for a while now. Finally got to visit not too long ago. I couldn't decide what I wanted, so I ordered two entrees. What I ordered: Small Combination plate (12.99)- I changed the sides it normally comes with so mine came with Steak kabab, chicken kabab and kafta with salad (instead of rice) and moutabal (instead of hummus). Everything amazing! All seasoned really well. The meats had their flavors throughout not just on the outside so you know it was marinated so well. The dressing had its perfect blend of salt and tartness. The moutaball had the smoked charred flavor from the eggplant and the garlic sauce was BOMB DOT COM! Beef Shawarma plate ($6.99)- comes in a bow with jasmine rice and beef shawarma. The rice is so flavorful as if they cooked it in broth and butter or something. The meat was very flavorful through and through. Both reasonably priced! Location: Its in a strip mall, but the sign is easy to find. The place itself is small. Probably seats about 20 people or so. If I lived closer, I would come more often. But when I drive through this place, I'll definitely stop by to pick up food even if I"m not hungry to eat for later. read more

Terrible Customer Service! I read the previous reviews and thought maybe the owners were having a bad day. I walked up to the counter and wasn't even acknowledged. I said I wanted to order to go and she said "ok". I asked questions about their menu, the woman was very rude and short answered. Gave me attitude like I should know the menu and not have questions? I ordered 2 plates with one beef and one chicken kabab. When I got home, they had given me 1 plate with 1 beef kabab and 1 plate with 1 chicken kabab. Super dissapointed and my fault for not checking before leaving. The food was just alright, smaller portions than other places. Other places usually give you the option to choose 2 sides, here they only give you hummus. The place smelled like wet dirty rags/stagnant water. I wanted to support small business so I put that aside since I was going to eat at home. I still couldnt get that smell out of my mind as I was eating. Not a clean place. Mama's kabab is located in the plaza with the big shoe city store. Really can't miss it. They have really high yelp ratings...but I'm really not sure why. I guess for the price it really does deserve high ratings, but if you're talking about just taste, then it really doesn't. I got the chicken shawarma sandwich and it just wasn't that good. I like the concept of having something acid/pickled inside, but the taste was just a little weird. The taste of it was just too overpowering. I also got a small hummus on the side and the pitas that I got were just reheated and stale. Some were stale so it was rubbery like I had to bite and forcefully bite off, and some were very hard and difficult to chew. The owner is very nice so it sucks that I'm only giving it three stars, but I'm just trying to write a honest review based on the food that I got. read more
