Stopped back into Kebab Grill recently after realizing it had been way too long since my last visit. We moved further away, so it just slipped out of the regular rotation--but it's one of those places I've always remembered fondly and definitely missed. Happy to report it's still very good. I came in craving a shawarma combo, so I went with the chicken and lamb combo and chose cucumber-tomato salad and tzatziki for the two sides. Everything was well prepared and flavorful, just like I remembered. The portions are big, the kind where if you're not a huge eater you can easily turn one plate into two meals. Always appreciate that. Service was friendly and welcoming, and the place felt clean and well kept. It has that family-run feel, which adds to the experience. The only thing that's changed a bit over the years is the value. Prices are definitely higher than I remember, but honestly that seems to be the case everywhere these days. The generous portions help balance that out. I ordered the gyro sandwich, with generous portions of meat and crisp veggies, wow! The thin pita and variety of veggies really made this pop! I had to try the baba ganoush accompanied by pita sliced for dipping, zing! Delightful flavor and texture. Lastly, I sampled both baklava, with walnuts, and with cream. Many people order to go on a Friday evening. They use to-go containers for everything as this is more of a mom and pop food place. There is plenty of seating inside though. Plates appear to be well-known. Ordered combo 2 lamb skewer plate (came with rice, 2 sides and 2 big halves of pita) for my father and he liked the rice. I do agree that the rice is well-seasoned and reminds me of a savory sticky rice. The lamb piece was chewy and good too. For sides. I chose the cucumber salad and Tabbouleh (made of parsley, tomato and onions). The cucumber salad had cabbage and tomato bits too along with a black pepper seasoning. Pita was light, airy, and paired well with my hummus I had at home. The spinach pie was alright. Wish it had more filling and had a crispier breading. Same goes for the chicken pie. The chicken pie has soft, shredded chicken bits with onions, which were good though. but would've liked a more moist filling. They did look like they were sitting out for awhile but they did reheat it up for me. Overall, I would probably try one of their other plates and not necessarily their pies again unless I knew it was just freshly baked. read more

The place is run by the owner, and it looks like a family member might be in the back preparing the food. The restaurant is decorated with Mediterranean-themed décor and offers plenty of seating. Kebab Grill Restaurant was right across my hotel in Westminster, CA. Just had to walk across cross the street. Menu looks rather large but really it's a few main protein separated into a few choices. I attempted to get at least 10 percent of their entire menu in my belly lol. Decided to get the 3 piece lamb combo. Asked it if I go swap 1 lamb skewer for 1 beef skewer, request was granted with no up charge. Perfect. Go my sides, hummus, pita, and their Turkish Salad. Lamb kabob so tasty and tender. The beef has flavor but wasn't as tender as the lamb. The sides, spot on in the flavor department. On the way out, I decide to ask for 1 meat pie just because it was calling my name lol. Interestingly delicious. I would compare it to empanadas but it wouldn't do itself justice. This meat pie was in a league of its own. Just try it. All in all, the food was worth going back for. The next day I actually returned to try other items on their menu. I do apologize, no pics because my phone was back at the hotel charging. I ended up purchasing the lentils soup and the lamb sandwich. Perfect match. In closing, I highly recommend this establishment. The reviews speak for themselves. The only only only Mediterranean place I will eat. Ive had at least 10 diff Mediterranean places and after trying other places, I will always return here. Very authentic. Garlic sauce should be sold in a glass bottle. The texture of their rice is to die for. I always get the beef Shwrema plate which comes with pita bread and 2 sides od your choosing. Try the cucumber and tomato side and puple cabbage. And ask for extra garlic sauce or buy the large one. Ive been ordering the same dish here for over 17 years. Took a friend here of the same culture and she was impressed and confirmed that it was very very authentic. Someone changed the Mediterranean salad recipe and not for the better. You can see from pics 2015 to 2022 it used to have large chunks of juicy cucumbers, onion, and tomato in a perfect vinaigrette. Now it's minced dry bits with cabbage and almost no marinade or flavor. Also the perfect Toum garlic sauce is now in the tiniest cup that the restaurant supply house sells. I remember when the cups were much larger and if that wasn't enough they were happy to be generous hosts and give you more. The meats seem drier and less moist too? Like all restaurants they already raised their prices over the years so I'm not sure what the motivation was to mess with a sure thing? This is a hidden gem in Westminster. I ate here 2x and they were both good. However, it is very deliciously heavy with Mediterranean spices - SOO GOOD!. I ate EVERYTHING on my plate. Remember to ask for Garlic dip -brings my food to another level. The rice here is very buttery and I haven't found this taste anywhere else. Inside looks clean and organized. Staff is friendly. Has restroom you can use. Parking is a little busy but was easy to find parking. I'd go back more often if I live closer. I don't recommend eating the whole plate (like me) in one setting because it's a lot and it's heavy. It's a lots of food. Buttery rices are hidden under the delicious meats! This place is a testament to my belief that I can find some of the world's best food just by virtue of living in Southern California. I always have to remind myself to stop by there before I make my drive back home to LA and before Sunday (the day that they're closed). It's a casual dine-in place. My go-to order, which has yet to fail me, is to get one of the Meat Combo Plates. You can mix your choice of meats, which is recommended but does affect the time it takes for your order to come out. I always get hummus and red cabbage salad for my combo (you get two sides). You also get three pieces of flat bread. Their garlic sauce is particularly delicious. It used to be that you could ask for extra garlic sauce. However because of the demand, they have opted to charge for the extra sauce. Understandable. The food is already really delicious, and the garlic sauce adds to it. I always find myself inhaling my order of food, but also one combo plate is actually quite generous. Expect to have leftovers.
