I came across this place by accident while shopping at Daiso, and I'm so glad I did! I'm really happy I discovered this restaurant. My server, Giselle A., was awesome she was incredibly friendly and provided excellent customer service. She made my first visit feel very welcoming and helped me decide what to order. Her recommendation did not disappoint at all! I should have taken a picture because the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the combo platter in a small size, and even the small portion was huge, which was an awesome surprise. I definitely left with a very happy and full stomach. Big thumbs up for our first visit to Mama's Kabab! Our family group of five readily found a clean table on a Saturday afternoon. The staff was patient and friendly. They kindly lowered the music volume for the senior citizens in our group. The counter also had takeout menus for us to read at the table. Most of us ordered platters (lamb kababs, chicken kabab, and kafta kabab). My aunt ordered lentil soup. Everyone enjoyed their food. The kafta was tender, juicy, and nicely spiced. My mom enjoyed her lamb and ate almost the entire meal in one sitting. (Normally she has a small appetite.) Perhaps because we had to remind the staff of our coffee order, they gave us baklava at the end. Although it was counter service with a fast casual vibe, everything was served on pretty golden plates with real flatware. The menu said that the platters came with a pickle, but in fact each came with a small side salad, so we didn't have to order the extra Mediterranean salads. It was a lot of food for a reasonable price, and we took home the leftovers. There were some small glitches. If you want water, they don't offer tap water but sell bottled water. They didn't offer milk or creamer with the coffee. The bathroom had a door lock plus a chain lock, and you had to remember to unlock the door lock (as directed on the sign) for the next patron. And they left the free wifi sticker on the door from the previous tenant, which was misleading. Overall, we had a really nice family meal at an unassuming strip mall spot. I was so hopeful I would love Mama's Kitchen. Unfortunately, I left so disappointed. I recognize they have a decent average Yelp rating. I have a hunch, though, this is due to either its previous ownership or the fact many of those rating the restaurant have a limited familiarity of Mediterranean cuisine. We walked-up at lunchtime on a Saturday. Granted, not necessarily the busiest day/time for a restaurant, but the place was absolutely empty. This caused some hesitation, but we took a chance. The person at the counter was friendly, but clearly had a limited knowledge of the cuisine. The restaurant's atmosphere was nice so, again, decided to give the place a whirl. We ordered Kafta plates. Large plates of food soon arrived, but it was immediately apparent the food was not freshly prepared. Both the meat and the rice had that prepared-much-earlier look and taste. Had the meat been freshly grilled, maybe my opinion would have been better but, as-is, a subpar experience. I hope Mama's Kebab steps-up its game. Quantity and pricing are important but, for those of us familiar with Mediterranean cuisine, quality and taste is what's most important. read more

I asked.. google: cheapest Middle Eastern food in Anaheim area! So .. stopped here for late lunch. Rather than go for a 14-17 dollar combo plate, I went for beef Schwarma bowl with rice: only 8.95. The baklava on display looked good for only 2.95. Sooo? Yes food is good, I would say very good for price, not cheap as in quality. Very clean, I will be back for other dishes. read more

I was looking forward to a healthy meal but unfortunately everything was too salty. The grape leaves, fries, and beef kabob were all heavily seasoned with salt, making it difficult to enjoy the food. The beef kabob was also very chewy. The hummus lacked flavor and the salad wasn't what I expected, consisting mostly of iceberg lettuce. The chicken was tasty and ended up being the only item I liked. The customer service was good, the person that took our order was friendly. The restaurant was also pretty empty during our visit. My son and I had such a great experience at Mama's Kabab in Stanton. We both ordered the beef gyro wrap and it was absolutely delicious...perfectly seasoned, fresh, and packed with flavor. It comes on a cute wooden block with picked turnips, pickles, peppers and sauce. What made the visit even better was the excellent service from Adel and Rafael. Whoa - a great find in a little strip mall. Big servings, big flavor and big smiles all around. So sad that mom and pop sold their business. They made really good food and their garlic sauce was so buttery and delicious. Under new ownership was disappointing. First of all, the girl who took my order, pronounced the word "juyro", instead of gyro. The price of the shwarama bowl was $1 than what was on the menu. The shawarma meat was obviously precooked and then reheated. The shawarma bowl consisted of only a bowl full of rice and little meat. The sauces were bland. I am not going back there again. Stopped by and picked up a family meal for dinner. This place is under new ownership and they have remodeled inside with a new store sign on the outside! Loved everything about my meal and my family enjoyed it as well! Everything was fresh, tasty and the quality of meats was 10/10! Food is really good. I've gone 7 times in the last two weeks. The cashier when I order tends to forget important details. Like extra meat or half salad and half rice. Or when you ask for a side of Tzatziki. You will most likely get your order a little different when asked. So I'm disappointed that I've had my order messed up 3 out of 7 times. It's a great spot. When I arrived here in the evening I was the only customer. The guy at the counter was polite but not very friendly. It was very bright in there and had Arabic music playing on videos on screens. I got the chicken shawarma plate. I was a bit confused because the menu screen only shows wraps but the paper menu by the register shows plates. So the plate was very generous. The chicken had good flavor but was a bit dry. The rice was very fluffy and not sticky, very good texture. I saw some reviews mentioning the new ownership, but honestly, I think the food and service are better than ever! Everything tasted so fresh and home-cooked. You can tell there's real care put into each dish. I think the owner was there when I visited, and she was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about the food (and super cute, too!) I wasn't sure what to order at first, but the staff were incredibly helpful and made great recommendations. The portions are perfect, and at a great price point.
