My son and I had such a great experience at Mama's Kabab in Stanton. We both ordered the beef gyro wrap and it was absolutely delicious...perfectly seasoned, fresh, and packed with flavor. It comes on a cute wooden block with picked turnips, pickles, peppers and sauce. What made the visit even better was the excellent service from Adel and Rafael. I was so hopeful I would love Mama's Kitchen. Unfortunately, I left so disappointed. I recognize they have a decent average Yelp rating. I have a hunch, though, this is due to either its previous ownership or the fact many of those rating the restaurant have a limited familiarity of Mediterranean cuisine. We walked-up at lunchtime on a Saturday. Granted, not necessarily the busiest day/time for a restaurant, but the place was absolutely empty. This caused some hesitation, but we took a chance. The person at the counter was friendly, but clearly had a limited knowledge of the cuisine. The restaurant's atmosphere was nice so, again, decided to give the place a whirl. We ordered Kafta plates. Large plates of food soon arrived, but it was immediately apparent the food was not freshly prepared. Both the meat and the rice had that prepared-much-earlier look and taste. Had the meat been freshly grilled, maybe my opinion would have been better but, as-is, a subpar experience. I hope Mama's Kebab steps-up its game. Quantity and pricing are important but, for those of us familiar with Mediterranean cuisine, quality and taste is what's most important. read more

I was looking forward to a healthy meal but unfortunately everything was too salty. The grape leaves, fries, and beef kabob were all heavily seasoned with salt, making it difficult to enjoy the food. The beef kabob was also very chewy. The hummus lacked flavor and the salad wasn't what I expected, consisting mostly of iceberg lettuce. The chicken was tasty and ended up being the only item I liked. The customer service was good, the person that took our order was friendly. The restaurant was also pretty empty during our visit. Great food and great space. Ordered three wraps and the pita bread arayes to go; great grab and go lunch meal. The wraps (chicken and falafel) are great in size and garlic sauce is delicious. Stopped by and picked up a family meal for dinner. This place is under new ownership and they have remodeled inside with a new store sign on the outside! Loved everything about my meal and my family enjoyed it as well! Everything was fresh, tasty and the quality of meats was 10/10! Very tender and juicy and the kafta was my fave and the chicken was my husband's fave! We will be back to try their other items! When I arrived here in the evening I was the only customer. The guy at the counter was polite but not very friendly. It was very bright in there and had Arabic music playing on videos on screens. I got the chicken shawarma plate. I was a bit confused because the menu screen only shows wraps but the paper menu by the register shows plates. So the plate was very generous. The chicken had good flavor but was a bit dry. The rice was very fluffy and not sticky, very good texture. This was a tough score to give because the cook ended up helping us and he was absolutely amazing gave us all the time we needed for a first visit. However why the score became so low is when the young lady came out from the back wearing gloves she was touching money touching her hair then touching food. Also all the tables were dirty and the cleaning solution was left on the counter near the tea/drinks. Food quality was mediocre at best but the portions were large. Small, family owned place. Older man and woman were the only 2 working. He seemed genuinely happy to be there! Took about 30min for our order to be ready, we walked in and ordered. They made our food on the spot, we took it to go. It was still hot when we got home. I got the #9 combo small platter and my husband got the #7 chicken schwarma plate. We also got a side of grape leaves. Everything is so good. I wanted to try the different meats and wasn't disappointed by any of it! Hummus is sublime, roasted veggies, rice, pita bread, all of it delicious. The small was enough for both of us to have another meal as leftovers. Please go visit this place if you like Mediterranean food. I'd hate to see it close, it was empty inside except for another group of 2 taking their food to go as well (it was also Valentine's day but still). After reading other reviews I was shocked that there was no one else there at 5pm on a weekday. I expected it to be out the door, and after eating there, it should be. I can't say enough about the flavor and texture of the meats, delicious. I wasn't into the salad because the dressing has no flavor at all, basically just tasted like oil. The deserts are out of this world as well. Service is excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food came out fast too. Came in with my wife as she wanted to eat some kafta kabobs and I ordered the chicken shawarma looks like a lot of locals come in to pick up their orders. Food was delicious and flavorful they do not cook unless you order what you want so it gets hot and mouth watering. The only takeaway is they don't have air conditioning so it's warm inside but cold outside because we came in the month of January. read more

Mama's Kabab is a family-owned restaurant stationed in a decent strip mall. The place has a cafeteria feel to it, nothing fancy, there is a TV on the wall on mute. The service is great and friendly. The front desk takes your order and delivers it to your table. We see many takeout orders, or small groups of friends and family getting together for a casual meal. Hope the couple who run it hang in there, their food has a home-made quality, it is the only place where the kababs are authentic, really tender, cooked to perfection and the lamb shank does not smell strange.
