I ordered the Denver omelet, cup of grits and wheat toast. The omelet had a nice cheese pull. Under special instructions I was able to request no butter be added to my grits. I am truly thankful that my request was honored . There was no seasoning added to my grits which was fine to me. I added a pinch of salt as that's all I place in my grits. We were looking for a good diner-like place, and Mama's Daughters did not disappoint. The biscuits are the best I have had in a very long time, and the hash browns were the perfect amount of crispy and creamy! Service was also good. This is THE place for breakfast in Forney. Biscuits and gravy are perfect, Hash browns are great, hot , crispy and tender inside. Mama Daughters is great. It is a little smokey inside, but it's from the kitchen cooking. The food is diner all the way. No matter what you are in the mood for, they have something for you. My wife loves the burgers, and I also get one most of the time. The breakfast is decent, but where they really shine is the home cooked chicken fried steak, beef tips and gravy, fried okra, etc. all good. Service is friendly and attentive. The food times depend on what you order, but it's pretty quick for the most part. My dad was visiting from Alabama. I took him here for lunch, he ended up coming back two more times during his stay. Spotted & Snagged two seats at the counter and promptly received menus and drinks from Mr. Luis! No grapefruit juice but the oj was pulpy n refreshing. I usually start with a classic two-egg when trying a new breakfast spot like this, my everything (including "easy/medium" fried eggs) were perfection! The bacon was medium and meaty just the way I like it, the pancakes were fluffy and the biscuits were better than Cracker Barrel! Tasted babe's chicken fried steak and it was also yummy! I am very familiar with this local family owned diner chain and the many current and past locations both still operating and nonexistent. I have always enjoyed the down home country feel this place always gives while dining in. They have excellent country fried steak and country fried chicken when you're looking for something filling. Even the salads are delicious and generous in portion, with the made from scratch salad dressings - yum! Don't forget the fried pie afterwards, I love the apricot but they are all delicious. Once they sell out that is it, so snag them while you can. I am only rating this a 4/5 only because I think the Mesquite location was THE best, and this one is a close 2nd. read more

Hmmm. I called to see if i could correct my order. It was the wrong location. A white woman answered the phone. Said she could get it can canceled, and when I had further questions...she hung up. I do not know her name. I tried to find out about a refund and it is just hell. I didn't call back because I was just pissed. I knew it wouldn't go well as she was already dismissive. This was this past Monday. $27.79 for my expensive ass breakfast. People forget that times suck right now and when we frequent your establishment...you should honor us. First time visiting Mama's Daughters' Diner and came with friends for lunch. For a Tuesday afternoon, it was pretty busy. Support staff were not all too welcoming in my opinion. Our waitress was attentive and on it; however, the older lady who worked the register was unwelcoming. After utilizing their bathroom and noticing that they did not have any soap in their dispenser, I wanted to alert the staff. As I approached the register to tell her, the phone began to ring. Instead of acknowledging me to ask to either give her moment or ask the caller to hold, she completely ignored me. I waited and she still completely ignored me. Even after the phone call, nothing. That was horrible customer service. Period! I would say from ordering our food to it actually hitting the table took a good thirty minutes. A bit too long if you ask me. As we waited, we did get to enjoy their biscuits and cornbread. I must say that the cornbread is SUPER delicious. The biscuits... not so much; it was a bit bland for me. When the food did finally arrive, it was good. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Salad. The chicken was fresh and hot, but lacked the spicy kick. Among my friends, they ordered the Sweet Potato Fries (YUMMY!), the Fried Chicken Sandwich (lacked flavor), Grilled Chicken w/ Mash Potatoes (ok), and the Deli Salad (ok). Met some folks from church for lunch last Thursday, and being new to Forney, I asked what I should order. Good googly moogly everything looked amazing! If I was in the mood for breakfast, they had an entire feast from which to choose. In the mood for lunch/dinner fare? Same: an entire feast. And the smells that wafted through the diner! Good gravy I didn't know which way to turn, so I settled on the meat lunch of the day (which is an amazing hot meat selection w/3 sides, buttered homemade rolls and cornbread of which both I'd have killed someone if they tried to pilfer one!) My selection was roast beef, with mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans and buttered corn. I barely made a dent in it there was so much! So my husband, although unable to join us, was delighted when he arrived home from work to my "shared" meal. I'd heard the pies were out of this world so I snagged a piece of chocolate pie and it tasted just like my Aunt Caro's chocolate pie which no one has ever come close to reproducing. And I cannot forget to say that the service was super fast and friendly staff. Served with it was buttered corn, Cole slaw and cheesy Mac. The Fried Chicken Steak was generously sized with white gravy. Corn was very good and fresh. The real winner is the Mac and Cheese.
