Overnight Oats
Angela R.

We stopped here for breakfast while we were in the area. It was around 9am on a Thursday and the place was packed with a line to the door. You order your food, get a number and they bring the food to you. The food was ok. I ordered the overnight oats. They just didn't have much flavor. I also ordered a hot chai tea latte. It was good but had too much froth on the top for my liking. I didn't get much of the chai flavor as I was drinking it. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich. He also said it did not have much flavor.

Maman is a solid chain bakery I can rely on most of the time. As the prices of pastries at other bakery shops go up, Maman is reliable. I have been to several Maman bakeries and found this location to be the most pleasant.

papa's breakfast bowl,

This is my go-to place to eat in Georgetown. Good service, amazing food, and a nice atmosphere. I enjoy the papas breakfast bowl, it is very filling but so worth it. The matcha is also something worth trying, and I'm quite picky with my matcha! Overall a great experience, and can't recommend enough! Will be returning.

strawberry citrus cruffin

This place was super cute and packed when we stopped by on Sunday for brunch! After browsing, I went with the Chicken sandwich and decided to try the Strawberry citrus cruffin along with a chai. The food came out pretty quickly and overall was impressed! The baguette bread on the sandwich was nicely toasted and came with a good amount of chicken. The cruffin was quite good and had a good amount of strawberry jam in there and loved the tartness so it balanced out the sweetness. The chai was also good and nothing remarkable but loved that it wasn't overly sweet. The staff were super friendly and loved the overall atmosphere of the place! Overall would recommend if you are close for either picking something up to go or dining in!

My motto is whenever possible, stop at a maman and you will not be disappointed! Thankfully this location keeps me in that direction. Ordered a honey lavender iced matcha, a cookie, and a chicken sandwich that did not make the photos because I was too hungry. Staff was friendly, it was clean and looking at that case of baked goods is enough to make anyone want to come back for more. The decor and setup is very nice and the perfect place to hang with a friend and catch up or grab a bite before work.

smashed avocado tartine
Josiah L.

The space is the first thing you notice--high ceilings, lots of greenery, and blue-and-white china throughout. It's bright and comfortable, with a small retail section near the communal table. Gets busy but stays manageable. The avocado smoked salmon tartine was the standout. Seeded sourdough with smashed avocado, smoked salmon, pickled red onion, cherry tomatoes, striped chioggia beets, dill, parsley, and pumpkin seeds. They bring extra salmon on the side, which I appreciated. Fresh and well put together. The candied bacon was thick and smoky with a good caramelized edge--a nice savory-sweet contrast to the tartine. Cold brew was smooth and not bitter. Did the job on a warm day. One note: the line builds at peak times, so come early if you want a relaxed table. Otherwise a well-executed brunch I'd happily repeat.

I came here twice on a short visit to DC. The chocolate chip cookies with nuts are really moist with a lot of chocolate! Almond croissant was really buttery inside and crispy on the outside. My latte was the best that I have had in a long time. The decor inside this restaurant is beautiful.

Love the ambiance inside with the plant greenery garden scene! It was busy but the food and drinks came out quickly. Service was great. The steak sandwich was so yummy, all the flavors and texture was on point!

Honey lavender latte
Rebecca C.

5/5 coffee with fun seasonal flavors. Honey lavender was just the perfect amount of not too sweet. Small cafe which was not too busy during the weekday. Indoor lighting. Picturesque cafe with flowers overhead. Will have to go back to try pastries and the light lunch options!

Tinny L.

4/5 only because the pistachio crossiant was a bit too sweet and a little soggy, which is understandable because of the cream but have had a bit crispier elsewhere. 5/5 for the breakfast sandwich which has this candied bacon that made me nostaglic of Asian jerky. Lavender honey latte was perfect not too sweet, could still taste the coffee.

Justine T.

Their aesthetic is adorable! From the coffee cups to the decor, it's all so charming. It felt a bit cramped inside, though, since the tables were pretty close together. I enjoyed the maman breakfast sandwich - the avocado was creamy and the brioche bun was soft, however the candied bacon's sweetness was a tad overpowering (and I have a sweet tooth). The service wasn't the friendliest, especially when I asked a polite question. Still, I would come back to try their yummy looking pastries!

Sesame Tahini Latte - yum!
Delana A.

I love the variety of options on their menu! I stopped by for a very quick treat. The service was great & I loved the coffee! Can't wait to come back, sit down & give this place another try. I ordered: Sesame Tahini Latte w oatmilk -- 8/10 Vegan Zucchini -- 5/10 not that great, you could definitely make a better version at home. It was also really small & not worth the price. I should have gotten a different vegan treat.

Gail B.

What a cute place! Maman is charming. It's part upscale Starbucks, part bakery, part Harrod's tea time. It's located across the street from Carnegie Library, The fresh dishes are wonderful. I had the grilled cheese. It is delicious and not oily. My friend had quiche & a salad. You can serve yourself a bottle of water to save trips to the filling station. After you order, an employee brings food to the table. This location gets crowded. Visit early.

It was just okay. I got the smoked salmon croissant sandwich and it tasted mostly burnt. The kitchen sink cookie was good.

I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. When we asked what the most popular items were, we were surprised it wasn't the more classic bakery items, but we enjoyed what we tried. We want to go back soon to try some other items as well. My friend got a coffee and also enjoyed that! This is the perfect place to stop by for a treat if you make it in time!

I only had their mushroom danish and plain croissant for now - it's definitely what I assumed it would be - Amazing in quality and taste! It reminds me of a bakery in Seattle, where it's all artisan breads and pastries w highest quality and visuals. (I mean, when it looks beautiful, it already add a point!) This is a rare find in DC! We have sooo many bakeries/ cafes but I'd say none really consider the real artisan style pastries and bread... You'll have to visit out of DC (VA or MD) to get similar.. so good to know there's Seylou here representing! Flat white with whole milk is decent, dialed and steamed well. No complaint! I will come back for their sweet syrup drinks and try for sure. Now that I can walk here from work... It will be hard not to come as a regular! If you like passionate baker's pastries, and willing to pay that price for the cause, this is definitely a must go!

It was also one of the only feasible options to order as the majority of the pastries were terribly burnt. My first order was not drinkable as the espresso was completely burnt. I switched it for another latte and that one was at tolerable at best but I found myself struggling to finish it (it was also still slightly burnt). My friend had the same experience with their latte, completely not drinkable. Unfortunately, the location in DC has permanently closed and we were still very much in the mood for some pastries... my cousin who is French has previously sang the praises of this Lil French pastry shop, so of course I had to give it a try. I am so happy that I did because I truly believe that I have stumbled upon my new favorite pastry shop in the area! Upon walking in the smell of croissants and almonds and sweet, sweet delicacies filled my nostrils. I basically became the human version of Remy from ratatouille inhaling a delicious bouillabaisse simmering on the stove top for hours....seeing colors and flavors so bright and intoxicating I simply had to have it I walked in and my eyes were instantly attracted to so many delicious options from classics like Palmiers and Napoleons to some unique flavor combos I've never tried before combined like raspberry and pistachio. Of course, I decided to grab a little bit of everything to make an accurate assessment as a YELP Elite should!! My favorite hands-down was the Berry Millefuille. The way the pastry crumbled in my mouth with every bite, combined with the tart, fresh raspberries, and thick flavorful custard.... Was worth every penny. Honorable mentions go to the peach rosemary tart, which was so unique with the added botanical of rosemary with some fresh sweet peach slices on top and a very crunchy tart base. We all enjoyed everything we purchased! I also ordered one of their seasonal specialties, the rosemary latte with skim milk and iced. The flavors were so uniquely crafted to where you could taste everything but everything combined together for the perfect sip. The ladies who greeted us at the cash register were so patient, so kind, and so understanding of my excitement and difficulty deciding and they even helped me add on a little chocolate happy birthday rectangle to the pastry I purchased for my husband! Without a doubt, this is only the first of the many times I will visit the establishment. It was so authentic, so delicious and passed all the vibe checks even from the French side of the family. I was told I have to return when they first open to have a fresh croissant and a fresh baguette that is on par with what you would have in Paris. Even the items in the fridge were made in France and were delicious fruit nectars that were very unique- we purchased a passionfruit nectar that didn't even make it past the doors before we had completely inhaled it and purchased a lychee nectar for later. I am so excited to have learned about this establishment and believe me when I say you must run, not walk, to experience it for yourself. As someone who works in the industry and is very familiar with coffee and coffee shops, I was genuinely shocked by how rude and unprofessional the staff was. I ordered a house latte with an extra double shot, which made it a quad shot, and I also paid for extra ice and requested that it be served in a large cup. It wasn't a complicated order. When I saw a drink come up, I politely asked, "Is that mine by any chance?" The barista immediately told me to "hush" and said, "I'm not talking to you." I found that incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable. When my drink was finally handed to me, I simply asked if the quad shot had been added since I had paid extra for it. Instead of answering my question, the barista ignored me entirely, and another employee had to respond. The employee, Taleisha Young, who was wearing glasses, was especially rude throughout the interaction. No customer should be spoken to that way, especially when they're simply asking about an order they paid extra to customize. Customer service and professionalism should be a priority, and this experience fell far below that standard. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, and I will be sharing my experience on other review platforms as well. I hope management addresses the behavior of its staff so other customers don't have a similar experience.
