How do I start, this was a terrible experience. It's covid, everyone is working from home, I went to grab a coffee, do some work, and get out of my apartment for a few minutes. I was screamed at by workers when I pulled out my laptop (this is after I had paid for their overpriced coffee). What is the point of this? It was 11 am on a Tuesday. So I moved outside. The table I moved to was covered in bird poop and dirty plates that were not cleaned the entire time I sat there to finish my coffee and hop on my email. The whole place was filthy, workers were rude, do not go here. What is with the laptop rule??? So stupid!!! read more

I'm not often in Brooklyn, but had an appointment in Greenpoint and while I didn't love my visit to the Maman in Soho, I literally walked past this location and stopped in for a latte. The server was friendly and made my latte quickly. It tasted fine, but was not hot enough and I ordered a white chocolate cookie with a pretzel on top that was dry and flavorless. It's one of those cookies that you must dip into your coffee to be edible, otherwise, forget it. read more

I came here to review the awful service at this location. The decor is great, the food is OK at best. I've had a variety of their selections here and have never been super impressed. But every time I come here everyone seems MISERABLE. Are y'all not getting paid enough? Probs not. But management should probably figure that shit out. Coffee is fine but when i pulled our laptop to catch up on some work I was told they weren't allowed in the downstairs area which was 100% empty. So here's how it is. This place is beautiful, the food and all that is perfectly delish. The problem is that there's a vibe in there and you'd like to think..it's probably the people working there, but I've seen this in other spots. Truth is..it's the snooty vibe that the customers have that makes it weird. Maman is too close to these millionaire towers in greenpoint. If it were just in a normal place that wasn't frequented by what feels like the most uptight people in the world it would be amazing. It's like this at Bakari too. This vibe is the reason people used to avoid the upper east side in favor of downtown...but now it's all over the place. Maman...I appreciate you. I feel your pain. Literally just left there and am having a delicious piece of quiche but my heart is racing from the absolutely fucking wacko vibe of the people there. I don't know why this place have such a low rating...absolutely adorable french cafe and bakery with good WiFi and outlets- perfect for work or study dates. Been to Maman in Manhattan but prefer the Greenpoint location: better lighting, abundant seating (there's a second floor also), minimalistic and artistic interior design (where many instagram bloggers have their photos taken). Never had their food but pastries are decent and coffee is okay. Recommend the lavender hot chocolate! Also, very cute bathroom tiles and awesome alternative rock music playlist read more

Excellent coffee. Good friendly service. Quiche is not on the creamy soufflé-ish fluff....it's more curdle-y tofu texture and the bottom crust was not easy to chop w a fork...not my fave quiche.... However, in my hunt and search for oatmeal raisin cookies- this one is good. My husband and I decided to try the Maman in Greenpoint as we always go to Soho whenever we in town and I can say that the food here is different. It was really good! it's 10/10! I had a Papa's Bowl and my husband had a Katy Sandwich. Pastries are great as well! My favorite is the pistachio croissant. I will be coming back next time with my friends! read more

Picked up a ham/cheese crossaint and a nuttery chocolate chip cookie. Crossaint was mediocre. No frills one small slice of cheese and ham and sprouts. Nuttery chocolate chip cookie was a bit burnt on the sides giving the burnt taste. A bit pricey for what they were and in terms of taste. read more

Cute little cafe nearby our usual brunch spot in greenpoint. Great bakery- the nutty chocolate chip cookie and crossaint are both delicious. Good matcha quality for the matcha almond latte. Everything is really expensive, the tables are so quirky they don't really work, and no laptops are allowed in the main area. I'm a weekly customer, and tea drinker. And I empathize with this location being severely understaffed, but I have several concerns that after being sick after drinking one of their teas yesterday, I think need to be addressed 1. Can't tell you how many times I've gone in and every single one of their milks are out on the counter, and not in the refrigerator. The barista leaves them all out, some uncapped, while they're making all of the drink orders. 2. I don't know who is brewing their iced teas, but first time I got the mango green tea, it was delicious. The second time, it was so bitter, and the color so cloudy it was virtually undrinkable. I vowed to not order that particular beverage again. 3. Hibiscus iced tea. Another usual order for me, but yesterday... I got halfway home before I took a sip and it was so dense and had a strange after taste I've never had before. I dumped it in a cup and added a lot of extra water to it to lighten it a bit, but it didn't work. I had a horrendous stomach ache after the little bit I actually drank. I'm not sure if I will be returning any time soon, which is a bummer. The location is great, and the croissants nice and crispy. But 2 bad drinks in the same season, and the anxiety I feel when I see all that milk out... I think it's best I find a new cafe for my tea drinking needs. read more

Surprisingly disappointing. I love the Maman locations in Manhattan - this one feels like it's completely different. It was desolate on a sunny Saturday afternoon, which should have been a sign. There was outdoor seating that was a bunch of dirty white tables - inside was pretty small and smelled funny. There was a broken table, greatly reducing the already limited indoor seating. They were almost completely out of all food at 1 PM. I ended up ordering a cookie, which was stale and literally inedible. To top it off, my one issue with the city locations - their consistently rude staff - also made its way to Brooklyn, without the great food/cute interior space to make up for it. This is Brooklyn. There are tons of good coffee and food options within a couple of blocks. You can do better than this. read more

Try 2 out of 3 cookies overbaked at the edges and raw at the center. Also the coffee is meh and their salads are terribly bland. They stopped baking the "queen" pastry and that's also a shame. The decorations are very charming. I love that bit. But it's overpriced and the food I've tried is plain. A flat white and sandwich were about $25. The sandwich: cheese and normal, plain bread (not a baguette, or brioche, or good bread). Flat white was good, but not any better than nearby coffees. I've come a few times. I also tried a quiche which was ok. Some things do look good, but the price doesn't lure me to try again. I hope it improves (and gets to a reasonable price)! read more
