Yall this food took me out. When I got home, I had slept for a good few hours. I came here to treat a family member, who is vegan, for their birthday. There is plenty of parking and plenty of seating on the inside. I ordered the curry pies as an appetizer and I ordered the black pepper chicken. The curry pies were sooo good and had just the right amount of heat. The black pepper was delicious and the vegetables were seasoned to perfection. The food was so pretty...almost too good to eat! The meal comes white rice. They do not have brown rice. It's a lot of food so pace yourself. I made the mistake of eating it all and couldn't move afterwards. The service was excellent! She repeatedly checked in on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal and we had water. I will definitely be back!

My vegetarian cousins were visiting from out of town and I suggested this place I had been wanting to try. There is a big parking lot for the handful of shops in the building. The restaurant is bright and airy with light wood tables and soft chairs. When we were there it was a little late in the day, but it was still somewhat busy with takeout and at least four other tables occupied. My cousins have two energetic young children. The staff seated us at a big table and brought a high chair and plastic cups with straws for the kids. The menu is accessed by QR code and there are photos and reviews linked to many dishes there. We ordered several starters: dumplings, satay made with Beyond Meat, and soups. Everything I tried was flavorful. The dumplings were fried and filled with vegetables, served with soy sauce. I tried a potato curry pocket which had some spiciness. My lotus peanut soup had a clear broth with whole peanut and chunks of lotus and mushroom as well as bean sprouts. My entree was a noodle dish called Chow Kway Teow. It had large flat noodles and vegetables with strips of fried tofu in a slightly spicy sauce. I thought it was delicious. I was able to taste some of the sesame tofu, which was big cubes of breaded, fried tofu covered in a syrupy sesame sauce. The tofu was beautifully soft and creamy. Lastly I tried the hibiscus ice tea spritzer. It was iced, not too sweet, and a lovely pink color. The staff were welcoming and efficient. They allowed the rambunctious children to run around a little without looking horrified. They brought extra paper plates and napkins as needed, and kept us all supplied with iced water.

After a fun night at pickleball we wanted some good vegan good. My friend recommended MVK. Pro: Ample parking, nice seating area, QR code for menu review (with pictures), good food and decent portion sizes Cons: The staff wasn't very welcoming but very professional. It seemed like every question was asked was an interruption. I preferred the non-processed food over the faux meats. The curry was flavorful and super tasty.

So glad I finally made it here! I'm a happy meat eater, but these vegan dishes were fabulous! I split food with a coworker and we had the roti naan as an appetizer, and the curry laksa and lemak curry for entrees. Everything was delicious! If I had to choose a star, I'd say the Lemak Curry, but honestly you can't go wrong with any. The curry was so flavorful and the tofu was the perfect texture. I came with a group of 8 around 12:15pm on a Friday and we were immediately seated. They also let you pay on your phone so you can select what you ordered which makes group meals so nice and easy. Parking: private shared lot

I'm not into the fake meats but love tofu, eggplants, green beans, ... all the regular veggies ... so that's what I usu. order here. Today I thought I'd try something different. Several reviews raved about the Olive Fried Rice ... I was intrigued b/c I never noticed that menu item before. OLIVE FRIED RICE - $14 Wok-tossed fried rice, olive leaves, carrots, string beans, tofu, ginger, and shiitake mushrooms. Whoa that had to be the best fried rice I'd ever eaten! I loved the wok-fried smoky flavor, it was honestly addicting, ... I had to practice self-control to only eat half so I could make two meals out of the one dish, lol. But it was hard! Everything about this dish was so good. I've tried other dishes but nothing as memorable like this one! The staff are nice here, and the space is always bright and clean feeling. This is usually my go-to place after getting a pedicure next door at Nail Time Spa. I will be back soon for my new favorite dish!

Why did I wait so long?! As a vegan for 9+ years, I'm sad that it took me until the end of 2024 to eat here. I'm guess better late than never. For my first visit, I had the sesame chicken and the kari sayur. Full disclosure, I looked over the menu as well as the reviews many times to see what was popular (which helped me arrive at these two choices). The kari sayur is a veggie and tofu curry. I eat a lot of Thai curries and this was a Malaysian version. It was wonderfully spiced with that same coconut milk creaminess that I love so much. The sesame chicken is mentioned a lot in reviews and rightfully so. I don't really eat "mock meats" but I'm glad I tried this dish. It really reminded me of being a kid and getting the orange chicken at Panda Express. If I have one critique, it's that the glaze was sticky in a strange, almost gelatinous way. It was mildly off-putting, but I still enjoyed the dish and the texture of the "chicken" itself didn't bother me at all. This was my entrée into Malaysian cuisine, and I look forward to trying more! Thanks for making it delicious and vegan.

Love this place! Delicious vegan Asian fusion. You won't miss the real thing. I've been here so many times! I recommend the chicken satay, the green beans are a must, pepper beef, fried rice, chicken lo mein, and the okra. More to try as new items come out. Tofu dishes as well. They're on Uber eats or come to their clean and airy restaurant. Dishes are $8-18.

My fiancé was about to get jaw surgery and be on a liquid diet for a few weeks, so what did we choose as her "last meal" before this diet? We obviously chose Mamak Vegan. This place was the perfect final dinner and was as good as ever. You can't ever go wrong with any menu item at Mamak!

Olive Fried Rice Curry Pie Roti Naan

I used to go to the nail shop right next door regularly but never thought to give this place a try. I eventually did and quickly realized I had been missing out. I've always gotten my food to go so I can't speak to what their sit down service is like but the space is a good size and looks clean. I get their olive fried rice, curry pie, and roti naan that comes with this curry dipping sauce. Everything is delicious. I genuinely don't miss the meat when I'm eating from here because the food is all so fragrant and flavorful. I love the spices and vegetables in the rice and the roti naan is so flaky and delicious. The curry dipping sauce it comes with is excellent and I'll usually pour the leftover on the olive fried rice for an extra kick. The portion size for the olive fried rice is very generous and I find the prices to be pretty reasonable. The parking lot is shared and on the medium to smaller size but it's never been packed enough where I've had trouble getting a spot. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area and you want some really good food (vegan or not)!

Very solid place for Malaysian, vegan food! My party came here to accommodate a friend. I've been to a couple vegan places where you can TELL you're eating vegan food and it's just a bit displeasing, but I'd gladly come back to Mamak Vegan, even if I wasn't seeking a vegan meal. Each dish was very flavorful - my favorite was the Lemak Curry; their Pineapple Fried Rice deserves a shoutout for it's good flavor and fun presentation. Portion sizes were a tad on the small size. Service was attentive and the checkout process was easy (pay via QR code instead of physical check). Though, they did charge a $3 fee for usage of the QR code... I'm not sure we even had the option of a physical check. Interior is clean, bright, and wonderfully decorated!

Updating my review to 5 stars upon marveling again at the Tau Kua (tofu) that you can only experience at Malaysian/Singaporean restaurants. We tried more dishes this time - Shrimp Chow Kwah Teow, Little Wok Lotus Root, Curry Laksa Noodles, and Pumpkin Soup that I am able to raise my rating and confirm that Mamak is now one of my favorite places to eat out and offers consistent food quality. They also also people to pick to pay for certain items individually before splitting the bill evenly via the QR code at the table which prompted my millennial friends and I to take a moment to learn and appreciate. There is a digital service fee and automatic service charge (at least for our group of 7). Mamak's restaurant atmosphere is bright with plant accents, and very clean which I think helps us to focus on the food and the people we are enjoying our meal with.

+. Ambiance is a breezy modern resto that could seat about 50 peeps. Clean and spacious vibe. +. Food is vegan Malay and tropical beverages. I tried their curry tofu and my vegetarian friend had their Singapore noodles. The Lamak tofu curry was bland but had too much heat so I landed up eating a lot of rice. I asked my dish to be mild :(. My friend though loved their Singapore noodles and still talks about it! + Price is average = Service was friendly but slow. We went later in the afternoon and they only had 2 other tables occupied. We had to flag down one of three people every time. No one came to check on us after the food was delivered neither. + Parking is private lot and free Over all, I think Mamak Vegan is over rated but am giving it a 4* since my friend liked their dish so much. Their ingredients were fresh but their seasoning and service were off for me. MY RATINGS - - - Inhumane - - Disgusted - Don't bother = Missed the Mark + Good ++ Better +++ EDIBLE...WHERE have you been all my LiFe!

My wife and I explained that no we walked in well within the remaining minutes of lunch, and that there were a few lunch items only offered during lunchtime that we wanted to take advantage of. Remember, if she would've come to greet us right away instead of being on her phone there would not have been an issue. Plus there was literally no one seated outside except for us! No excuse for this type of service. Plus I'm shocked that management didn't accommodate a first timer to your establishment being it was the server's fault. Amazing how these kind of restaurants forget there are soooooo many great options in this city! No one is going to put up with this type of nonsense. Funny how they forget who's the paying customer, and get arrogant instead of being flexible within reason to a great customer experience. Wasn't asking for anything extra just to honor walking in during lunch time to order lunch! If that's too much to ask then hello and goodbye and that's why we got up and left! This place won't be around long! Ridiculous! Word of mouth is everything in the restaurant business Kid Cashew!

Jahjoy pork belly: Tasty & tendor. I loved the papaya salad which left a refreshing contrast. A bit too saucy for me. Flavors were strong. Squid ink bucatini: our favorite! Must get dish - bucatini is perfectly al dente & the spicy sauce was very flavorful. Jumbo shrimp was delicious, and the anchovy on top left a nice strong flavor. Red snapper: This has some Vietnamese influences with the sauce. It was a lighter dish which was just OK for me, I would have liked the fish to have a crispier skin. Not much flavor besides the sauce which is inspired by canh chua. Wagyu flank steak: cooked to perfection and flavored well, loved the celery puree which was much tastier than we expected celery to be. Dessert was mint chocolate cake which was very tasty. I wish the cake was softer and meltier in the center but it was still good. Malt gelato was delicious. Could def taste the mintiness. Creme pat along the edges was a nice add to the cake with cacao nibs and popcorn for a textural contrast. I enjoyed it!! Overall we had a great meal and could tell the ingredients were very fresh. The presentation for all the dishes was beautiful!! We can tell the chef puts care in his food :) Appreciated the personal touch - they gave a handwritten card to my husband for his birthday!

The service was... just service. Nothing particularly welcoming or attentive, but we did get served, so I'll leave it at that. We ordered several appetizers to start: Impossible Wontons - I usually avoid Impossible meat, but decided to give this a try. Unfortunately, I should have trusted my instincts. The wontons were fried too hard, had no cream cheese, as expected in wontons and came. Fried Avocado Egg Rolls - These were disappointing. The filling was mostly blended avocado and cilantro, which created a gritty texture, plus a single slice of avocado in the center. The flavor was flat, and one piece of avocado was brown. Fried Brussels Sprouts - Nicely fried (blanched, then battered and fried whole), but the sweet sauce was overpowering for my taste. If you enjoy sweet flavors with vegetables, you might like this dish more than I did. For the main course, we tried the Gyro Sandwich with Seitan Chicken, and this was easily the highlight of the meal. The seitan was seasoned well, the produce was fresh, and everything came together nicely. I would definitely recommend this dish. We ended with the Carrot Cake. It was decent but not traditional--lots of chopped nuts throughout, which dominated the texture. If you love nuts, you'll probably enjoy it; if not, it might not be for you. Overall, the restaurant itself was clean and had a relaxed, chill environment. While not everything we tried was a hit, the gyro stood out as a winner, and the atmosphere was pleasant. The food portions were large. The prices were good for what we received.

So naturally, I headed over to Food Terminal. This was actually my first time visiting the Buford Highway location. I've only been to the Marietta Street location before, and I was immediately surprised by how spacious this one is. Let's get the important question out of the way first... parking. Parking is free, plentiful, and incredibly easy. The restaurant shares a lot with the neighboring farmers market, but even with that, there was still plenty of parking available, which made the whole experience even better. I was greeted warmly by the host, who let me choose my own seat. I ended up sitting all the way in the back because I was in the mood for a little solo dining and some quiet "me time." My server was incredibly sweet and attentive throughout my meal. To start, I ordered the fried chicken dumplings, and they were absolutely delicious. Let's just say they disappeared... quickly. For my entrée, I ordered Grandma's Pork & Rice, which is exactly what I had been craving. I tried to pace myself because I wanted to save some for later, but that pork is just too good. It's always unbelievably tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Somehow it tastes exactly as good as I remember every single time. One feature that's always fun at Food Terminal is the little robots that help deliver the food to your table. The robots bring out your meals while the servers take care of your drinks, and it's always a fun touch that makes the experience a little more memorable. Speaking of drinks... I had an oolong tea, a Diet Coke, and a glass of water because, for whatever reason, I always seem to need three beverages in front of me. Overall, this visit was exactly what I was hoping for. Great food, friendly service, convenient parking, and the perfect way to satisfy a very specific craving. We debated which one of the salted egg yolk dishes to get- a preparation I had never tried- and landed on the fried shrimp and garlic noodles.
