After a fun night at pickleball we wanted some good vegan good. My friend recommended MVK. Pro: Ample parking, nice seating area, QR code for menu review (with pictures), good food and decent portion sizes Cons: The staff wasn't very welcoming but very professional. It seemed like every question was asked was an interruption. I preferred the non-processed food over the faux meats. The curry was flavorful and super tasty.

Lamak Curry

So glad I finally made it here! I'm a happy meat eater, but these vegan dishes were fabulous! I split food with a coworker and we had the roti naan as an appetizer, and the curry laksa and lemak curry for entrees. Everything was delicious! If I had to choose a star, I'd say the Lemak Curry, but honestly you can't go wrong with any. The curry was so flavorful and the tofu was the perfect texture. I came with a group of 8 around 12:15pm on a Friday and we were immediately seated. They also let you pay on your phone so you can select what you ordered which makes group meals so nice and easy. Parking: private shared lot

Olive Fried Rice

I'm not into the fake meats but love tofu, eggplants, green beans, ... all the regular veggies ... so that's what I usu. order here. Today I thought I'd try something different. Several reviews raved about the Olive Fried Rice ... I was intrigued b/c I never noticed that menu item before. OLIVE FRIED RICE - $14 Wok-tossed fried rice, olive leaves, carrots, string beans, tofu, ginger, and shiitake mushrooms. Whoa that had to be the best fried rice I'd ever eaten! I loved the wok-fried smoky flavor, it was honestly addicting, ... I had to practice self-control to only eat half so I could make two meals out of the one dish, lol. But it was hard! Everything about this dish was so good. I've tried other dishes but nothing as memorable like this one! The staff are nice here, and the space is always bright and clean feeling. This is usually my go-to place after getting a pedicure next door at Nail Time Spa. I will be back soon for my new favorite dish!

Kari Sayur

Why did I wait so long?! As a vegan for 9+ years, I'm sad that it took me until the end of 2024 to eat here. I'm guess better late than never. For my first visit, I had the sesame chicken and the kari sayur. Full disclosure, I looked over the menu as well as the reviews many times to see what was popular (which helped me arrive at these two choices). The kari sayur is a veggie and tofu curry. I eat a lot of Thai curries and this was a Malaysian version. It was wonderfully spiced with that same coconut milk creaminess that I love so much. The sesame chicken is mentioned a lot in reviews and rightfully so. I don't really eat "mock meats" but I'm glad I tried this dish. It really reminded me of being a kid and getting the orange chicken at Panda Express. If I have one critique, it's that the glaze was sticky in a strange, almost gelatinous way. It was mildly off-putting, but I still enjoyed the dish and the texture of the "chicken" itself didn't bother me at all. This was my entrée into Malaysian cuisine, and I look forward to trying more! Thanks for making it delicious and vegan.

Love this place! Delicious vegan Asian fusion. You won't miss the real thing. I've been here so many times! I recommend the chicken satay, the green beans are a must, pepper beef, fried rice, chicken lo mein, and the okra. More to try as new items come out. Tofu dishes as well. They're on Uber eats or come to their clean and airy restaurant. Dishes are $8-18.

My fiancé was about to get jaw surgery and be on a liquid diet for a few weeks, so what did we choose as her "last meal" before this diet? We obviously chose Mamak Vegan. This place was the perfect final dinner and was as good as ever. You can't ever go wrong with any menu item at Mamak!

Olive Fried Rice Curry Pie Roti Naan

I used to go to the nail shop right next door regularly but never thought to give this place a try. I eventually did and quickly realized I had been missing out. I've always gotten my food to go so I can't speak to what their sit down service is like but the space is a good size and looks clean. I get their olive fried rice, curry pie, and roti naan that comes with this curry dipping sauce. Everything is delicious. I genuinely don't miss the meat when I'm eating from here because the food is all so fragrant and flavorful. I love the spices and vegetables in the rice and the roti naan is so flaky and delicious. The curry dipping sauce it comes with is excellent and I'll usually pour the leftover on the olive fried rice for an extra kick. The portion size for the olive fried rice is very generous and I find the prices to be pretty reasonable. The parking lot is shared and on the medium to smaller size but it's never been packed enough where I've had trouble getting a spot. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area and you want some really good food (vegan or not)!

Nice little place, especially if you're vegan or vegetarian. Very flavorful food and big portions for the price. Service is a little slow. Our water glasses were both dirty so that was a little gross but we got them swapped out. I would definitely try this place again.

Lemak Curry

Very solid place for Malaysian, vegan food! My party came here to accommodate a friend. I've been to a couple vegan places where you can TELL you're eating vegan food and it's just a bit displeasing, but I'd gladly come back to Mamak Vegan, even if I wasn't seeking a vegan meal. Each dish was very flavorful - my favorite was the Lemak Curry; their Pineapple Fried Rice deserves a shoutout for it's good flavor and fun presentation. Portion sizes were a tad on the small size. Service was attentive and the checkout process was easy (pay via QR code instead of physical check). Though, they did charge a $3 fee for usage of the QR code... I'm not sure we even had the option of a physical check. Interior is clean, bright, and wonderfully decorated!

Updating my review to 5 stars upon marveling again at the Tau Kua (tofu) that you can only experience at Malaysian/Singaporean restaurants. We tried more dishes this time - Shrimp Chow Kwah Teow, Little Wok Lotus Root, Curry Laksa Noodles, and Pumpkin Soup that I am able to raise my rating and confirm that Mamak is now one of my favorite places to eat out and offers consistent food quality. They also also people to pick to pay for certain items individually before splitting the bill evenly via the QR code at the table which prompted my millennial friends and I to take a moment to learn and appreciate. There is a digital service fee and automatic service charge (at least for our group of 7). Mamak's restaurant atmosphere is bright with plant accents, and very clean which I think helps us to focus on the food and the people we are enjoying our meal with.

+. Ambiance is a breezy modern resto that could seat about 50 peeps. Clean and spacious vibe. +. Food is vegan Malay and tropical beverages. I tried their curry tofu and my vegetarian friend had their Singapore noodles. The Lamak tofu curry was bland but had too much heat so I landed up eating a lot of rice. I asked my dish to be mild :(. My friend though loved their Singapore noodles and still talks about it! + Price is average = Service was friendly but slow. We went later in the afternoon and they only had 2 other tables occupied. We had to flag down one of three people every time. No one came to check on us after the food was delivered neither. + Parking is private lot and free Over all, I think Mamak Vegan is over rated but am giving it a 4* since my friend liked their dish so much. Their ingredients were fresh but their seasoning and service were off for me. MY RATINGS - - - Inhumane - - Disgusted - Don't bother = Missed the Mark + Good ++ Better +++ EDIBLE...WHERE have you been all my LiFe!

Curry Pie

We went to Mamak Vegan Kitchen for dinner. We ordered CURRY PIE for appetizer. Really good! For dinner, we ordered SESAME CHICKEN 芝麻雞 (Vegan) & CHOW KWAY TEOW 炒河粉 (Vegan). So delicious! I would have given this restaurant 5 of 5 stars because the food was very yummy. But I didn't. Here's why. Reason 1 - We only saw the waitress twice. She came to take the orders & when she brought the dishes to us. I asked her to bring me more napkins. She didn't. She didn't come by & asked if everything was good. When we paid, we used iPhone to pay. Very unhelpful waitress. Reason 2 - When I ordered Coke Zero, the waitress said they didn't have it. Then I said I wanted Diet Coke then, the waitress said they didn't have it either. She said they did have Coke. I was really surprised. We live in ATL. At this restaurant, only Coke but no Coke Zero & Diet Coke?! We really loved the food but everything else was not good. In future, we will order the food & pick them up. No need to eat at the restaurant.

The sorry no customer service waiter stood on her phone talking to a friend loudly as we waited to order. Then finally comes to our table with the face of so what do you want. Red flags were screaming at this point! So we proceed to order lunch and she explains why we couldn't because lunch time was over. My wife and I explained that no we walked in well within the remaining minutes of lunch, and that there were a few lunch items only offered during lunchtime that we wanted to take advantage of. Remember, if she would've come to greet us right away instead of being on her phone there would not have been an issue. Plus there was literally no one seated outside except for us! No excuse for this type of service. Plus I'm shocked that management didn't accommodate a first timer to your establishment being it was the server's fault. Amazing how these kind of restaurants forget there are soooooo many great options in this city! No one is going to put up with this type of nonsense. Funny how they forget who's the paying customer, and get arrogant instead of being flexible within reason to a great customer experience. Wasn't asking for anything extra just to honor walking in during lunch time to order lunch! If that's too much to ask then hello and goodbye and that's why we got up and left! This place won't be around long! Ridiculous! Word of mouth is everything in the restaurant business Kid Cashew!

Everything was outstanding, especially the egg. No wonder this is Michelin recommended! We then met chef Jared and he is amazing. The care and craft he puts in to his food makes sense hearing his stories, especially that he serves the art community with specialized food to match the art on display; what a cool concept! He even assisted us in buying a piece on display from a local artist. As yes, they have local art up on display - a great idea for a restaurant! Note for parking: use the valet. At first there was a mix up with who was serving us do we got explained the drink menu twice. After our appetizer, we waited about 30-40 minutes for the rest of our items which took longer than we thought. They did give us some house made popcorn to keep us busy. Jahjoy pork belly: Tasty & tendor. I loved the papaya salad which left a refreshing contrast. A bit too saucy for me. Flavors were strong. Squid ink bucatini: our favorite! Must get dish - bucatini is perfectly al dente & the spicy sauce was very flavorful. Jumbo shrimp was delicious, and the anchovy on top left a nice strong flavor. Red snapper: This has some Vietnamese influences with the sauce. It was a lighter dish which was just OK for me, I would have liked the fish to have a crispier skin. Not much flavor besides the sauce which is inspired by canh chua. Wagyu flank steak: cooked to perfection and flavored well, loved the celery puree which was much tastier than we expected celery to be. Dessert was mint chocolate cake which was very tasty. I wish the cake was softer and meltier in the center but it was still good. Malt gelato was delicious. Could def taste the mintiness. Creme pat along the edges was a nice add to the cake with cacao nibs and popcorn for a textural contrast. I enjoyed it!! Overall we had a great meal and could tell the ingredients were very fresh. The presentation for all the dishes was beautiful!! We can tell the chef puts care in his food :) Appreciated the personal touch - they gave a handwritten card to my husband for his birthday!

Our server, Lia, was wonderful--super patient, always smiling, and really helpful when it came to recommending dishes. She took the time to explain options, and her suggestions were spot on. The Garlic Bone Marrow Noodle Soup was rich and comforting, and the Herbal Spare Ribs had a really nice, well-balanced herbal taste. It was busy inside, but our party of 10 was promptly seated, though we were a little squished into a circular table. I didn't remember this last time, but instead of telling a server what you want, you mark it down on a paper menu and hand it to the server. This time I got the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodles and the Salted Egg Yolk Shrimp Garlic Noodle. I was really excited to try both since they both sounded so good. Ultimately the Grandma's BBQ Pork Noodle was a little underwhelming - the noodles themselves weren't very flavorful, and the BBQ pork was on the drier side. The pork did have decent flavor, and all the toppings/side items (wontons, fried egg, bok choy) were great, but all in all fell a little short of my hopes. The Salted Egg Yolk Garlic Noodles had better flavor, but I could've used even more garlic and butter. The shrimp definitely carried the salted egg yolk flavor, but the fried batter was a bit soggy/soft in my opinion. I wished it was crisper. Service was a tad slow, but perhaps they're understaffed and/or it was busy that night. I do love the menu concept of positioning it like a magazine catalog - it makes for a fun experience instead of just words on paper

We opted for said patio seating, as the haze of hella fried food was too strong in the restaurant. There was a slight greasy film over everything, especially on the windows. Fingerprints/smudges everywhere. There was very little cleaning done. The general vibe of the restaurant is confusing. We weren't sure whether they gave table service or not as we saw others receiving it, but hubz had to go in and grab our food. I also want to note that it took 5ever for them to produce the little appetizer we got, which was a simple arepa sampler platter. And the quality just wasn't there to me. It was okay, but it wasn't anything that wowed me and I wanted to be wowed based on the reviews. The fillings themselves felt like plain ole' bagged mozzarella and unflavored Publix deli meat. We would have ordered more had this experience gone differently.
