Vermicelli noodles with grilled pork and egg roll
Kim V.

Takeout Review: I'm a fan of this Vietnamese restaurant in Winsted. I've ordered food delivery from them many times and even picked up from there once. The food is always consistently good. I've had their pork banh mi, pho beef burrito "pho-ritto", and rice vermicelli noodle dish. All the food were affordable, fresh, authentic, and tasty. My family also agrees. The restaurant is also nice. The service was good. They are next door to Papa Boba which is owned by the same people. There was only street parking available when I went. Overall, definitely one of my favorite Vietnamese spots around this area so far.

Tasty pho

Heard about this local Vietnamese, which closes at 730 PM so went for an 'earlybird' dinner. Cute room, fast service, lots of take out. The seafood pho was tasty and the 'medium' sized option means you can finish it. Spring rolls were fresh, banh mi was also warm and nicely presented. Boba tea comes from next door so the waitress is in and out of the place. Nice room, lots of TV entertainment.

However, I felt let down by the service experience at this restaurant. After we ordered and the pho came, the table looked strangely empty to me. As someone who frequently eats pho; I realized it was because the waitress never brought the bean spouts, leaves, and lemon/lime slices to put into our broth. I asked if this restaurant serves it and she looked at me strangely and said it was already in the pho. I thought it was so odd, so I explained that when I usually go out for pho in my home state of Hawaii, usually there is a separate small dish brought to the table with all of these items to put into the broth. The waitress then asked if I wanted it and I said yes. About ten minutes later, the waitress brought out a plate and she said that in Avon, most people don't want the sprouts. I wasn't sure if this was because I look like most of the people from Avon (Caucasian), even though I am just visiting. If anything, couldn't she have at least asked if we would like it? We enjoyed our pho and were happy to eat it how we usually do and we ate all our extra bean sprouts. The waitress never came back to ask how was the pho or refill our water. I had to request a copy of my receipt because she did not print one out for me. When I was trying to fill out the receipt/tip, the waitress was trying to have a full on conversation with me asking about the financial burden of living in Hawaii... the timing of this sudden chattiness was not good for me. I was ready to get out of there. All in all, pho was great (thank you lady in the kitchen) but service could have been a lot better. Will probably not come back again. Sorry:(

It's located in the Old Avon Village plaza. There were plenty of parking. The interior was nice; it looked like it used to be a frozen yogurt spot. The hostess/waitress was nice. Unfortunately, there is no kids menu, but we were able to get a small bowl to share our noodles with our toddlers. The food came out slowly, considering we were only 1 out of 3 tables. We ordered pork and shrimp spring rolls as an appetizer; it was very good and fresh with the peanut butter sauce. For my meal, I ordered the Pho House Special; it's $20.95 and has rice noodles, medium rare beef, brisket, and meatballs. This bowl was huge! The flavor was good but the broth was very oily. I added more hoison, chili oil, and siracha for more flavor. We didn't have any sauces and napkins, so we had to flag down the waitress a couple of times. Also, they never refilled our waters. I noticed the prices were very high compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. With everything factored together, I gave them 3.5 stars total.

I went to place my order and wanted the mi ga (Sunday only) but it seemed like they weren't making it! It was fine, I ended up getting the standard beef pho and a Thai tea. My drink came out instantly and the pho very soon after. No wonder this place is so popular! It was well seasoned, beef well cooked, and delicious! Perfect for a cooler wet day! The servers were very fast and efficient, and the clientele seemed like all regulars that came here often to enjoy pho. Definitely will be back whenever I'm in the Hartford area! Parking lot was empty when I entered but when I left around 11 it seemed almost full, so be sure to get there early.

I ended up getting a combo pho ($16) and viet iced coffee and they came out in about 10 mins. The overall pho was on the savory side , and it was a very clean looking broth. Not bad pho, not great ambiance…read more Came here on a whim. Missus wanted some soup so we went to this place as our date night trek. It's close to a sporting complex, in the same plaza as a larger brewery. Not the easiest to spot, will need the gps to assist. The inside is sparse in decoration but the staff was very friendly. We got the spring rolls, the fried wonton, a pho and a bahn mi. Food came out quick, we took pics then dug in. The wontons had a good pork and scallion filling. They didn't need sauce to taste good, which is a good sign. The spring rolls were okay, crispy but oily and the dipping sauce was weak. The pho was good, meat was tender, noodles were okay, and soup base was chicken broth with spices. The bahn mi was pretty good as well. Pickled veggies were very sweet, the ham was tender enough and the mayo butter was heavy handed. The bread was crusty but soft, not what I consider to be proper bahn mi bread, but good enough. Price was about 45 for the two apps and entrees, which is about average for that style of meal. It's not anything to write home about. I would recommend ordering to go mainly because the dining space is right underneath a wrestling ring and the floor shakes when someone gets body slammed below. But it's good enough pho for that area
